Hi guys,
I'm trying to find out which would be the easiest way to launch some cabs automatically after a hard reset, and from a sd card ?
I've read several posts, but still wondering which could be the easiest way.
maybe puting an autorun in 2577 folder on card ?
but that would lauch it everytime the card is inserted..
help would be appreciated !!
thanks.

Yesterday I've re-installed my MDA Pro.
I use the QTek 1.30.77 WWE ROM, QTek 1.30.176 WWE extended ROM and the 1.11 Radio ROM.
After the hard reset I've installed all the programs from the extended rom and after that I cleared out the extended rom and used this for some SPB Apps (Not Pocket Plus, I installed this one on my local device).
But now when I perform a soft reset, the phone changes the name of my SD card to "Storage Card 2" and it creates a directory "Storage Card" where a temporary internet files directory is located.
I also used a reg tweak to let IE store my temp internet files on my SD card, but now it seems that when I reset my MDA it creates a temporary internet files directory when the storage card isn't detected yet.
But I haven't had this problem before.
Is there anyone who has a solution? Because now some programs are installed on my storage card and they don't work because the path to the executables is wrong. Maybe it has something to do with installing programs on my extended rom???
Why this happens:
If for any reason it cannot find the SD on boot (fast enough) it will create a folder called Storage Card to put the temp files (or inbox or whatever) so that the path \Storage Card\... exists. Now as soon as the SD becomes available, since there is already a folder called Storage Card it is forced to name itself Storage Card 2.
Solution: Delete the "Storage Card" folder and soft reset.

Yes I gues this is the problem. I already tried your solution, but it won't help. It will create a new directory with the name Storage Card so that my SD card again will be renamed to Storage Card 2.
Move the temp internet files back to the main memory and delete the folder. Apparently it does not read your card fast enough.
Going to try that. But I just don't understand. I have a SanDisk 2g Ultra 2 SD card, so the card is fast enough. I never had this problem before, just after the hard reset from yesterday.
I know have linked the temporary internet files folder to my local machine and it seems that this works!
Only I still want to know if there's a solution so that I can store my temp ie files to my SD card without the issue of the "storage card 2".
I remember reading this problem before. I believe the solution can be found on Buzz's Ext ROM Unlocker thread.

Couldn't find that in the post, but I reset my device again and didn't installed programs on my extended rom. This seemed to work, so maybe that was the problem.
thanks, i freaked out, almost done a hard reset, then searched XDA through google, found this solution, it worked 100%.
thanks guys

a file or files of a program u use from ur sd card maybe is corrupted..check the files in ur sd and if u see that check the threads about the problem!
I was using it pretty good and suddenly my memory card appear and disappear when ever i reset my ppc. Now, i cant detect it anymore on my dopod 838 pro. Any idea or comments i can do to verify that the memory card is the problem (if it is still alive?) really need some advise and thanks in advance!

Pull the card out and pop it in a Normal PC Card reader and see if you can see the contents. For some reason PPC's will occasionally corrupt the formatting of the card to majke it unreadable to it but PC's sometimes can. If you can read it with a PC, then copy the contents off, reformat usign the PC and copy the contents back and try it in the PPC again.
ok will do that. but isnt that dangerous to lose data tat way? also, when i could read the memory card, the folders r there but the files r gone. possible virus?
i can find my memory card on the card reader. i tried formatting it but it gave me an error "Window is unable to complete the format". What is wrong?
Were you able to copy your info off of the card? How were you trying to format it?
Make sure that you DON'T have a window to the card open when trying to format.
HELP ME WITH ADVISE!
My problem is back again. My data at certain folder in the memory card is disappeared but still able to browse the memory card. Then i soft-reset a couple of times and the data comes back. It took the dopod 838 pro to read the memory card very long time b4 able to show the data on the card.
What should i do?
Check the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager. There are two DWORD values - PNPUnloadDelay and PNPWaitIODelay. If they are not set to 8196 - do that.
its 8196 as posted...
Looks to me like 2 possibilities:
Your SD Card is shot; or
Your phone has lost the plot.
If it reads OK on the PC card reader, the card is probably OK.
I'd try a hard reset of the phone first. (Make sure you have backed up everything first.)
Also, clean the SD slot as best you can to make sure there are no biscuit crumbs or old socks fallen into the hole.

Seems like some problems with this card. You didn't try another one?
I've been using Schap's 4.30 rom for a long time.
Yesterday I tried to install a software and it was not successful.
Now any software installation is unsuccessful.
Just after selecting storage card or internal memory , I get the message "installation of .... is unsuccessful message".
This happens for example when installing CorePlayer.
Also, I am not able to uninstall any software.
And, I noticed some folders with garbage character in their name under root folder which can not be deleted.
Any ideas to solve this issue ?
is there any solution to this at all ?
If not I will hard reset; please help.
sounds like mmc has been corrupted. you may have to retrieve as much information off it as you can then reformat sd card. put back waht you've backed up then re-install the rest anything missing is gone and cant be retrieved by either pda or computer. Same thing happened to me. Apparently, randomly, the pda corrupts the sd card. best idea is to back up sd card on computer as well as backing up pda. Hope this helps. BTW you shouldnt need to hard reset your device.
I don't understand... Why do you think sd card is corrupted ?
This also happens when I try to install to internal memory. So ?
And, folders with garbage characters are also on internal memory.
Corrupted Card
Got it many times because of bad card quality (Scandisk !)
I ask for replacement three times ... the fourth one was a different model, since then it is working perfectly.
You can reformat the card but it will crash again.
Hi all.
I want to change the 256mb MicroSD card in my Orbit.
What is the most compatible make of MicroSD to use?
If I remove the MicroSD I will need to copy the old data across to the new one - what is the best way to do this?
Also, will I cause a hard reset by removing the battery from my device?
Thanks in advance
I use 8Gb Sandisk but there are other brands available
There are several ways to copy data from old to new card..depends if you have a card reader or not...if not then probably easiest way is to activsync with pc or laptop and copy files to that then transfer files back to new card.
The only way of hard resetting as far as I know is if you soft reset and hold the two soft keys down then releasing the soft reset. You wont reset the device by just taking out the battery.

Many thanks for that.
I have a card reader - so basically just make sure that all hidden files/folders are visible and copy the whole lot to pc then back to new card?
Many thanks
