Having already used the O2 XDA, O2 XDAII and the O2 XDAIIs I have been spoilt by O2's ROM updates via their own website.
The problem I have is that by changing to Vodafone I now have no facilities via the Vodafone website to do the same. How do you update your ROM if you have a Vodafone V1640?
Would appreciate your comments

If you love O2, you can flash the O2 ROM onto your Vodafone Device without problems.
Just use the search button on how this is done.
Thank you. I am a little concerned that the O2 ROM will erase my Vodafone settings as well as conflict with Vodafone protocols. I understand that the ROMs will have the same Microsoft Mobile 5 updates but also embedded are the phone company's unique settings and addional programs.
Do you know whether Vodafone issue ROM updates and if so how do you obtain them?
Thank you for your help and assistance
Why do you want to change the rom, (is there problems with the vodafone Rom) and what other programs are on the Vodafone Rom that you would loose.
As for settings you can enter all settings anyway into any rom as far as I know.
There is nothing wrong with the current ROM. I just want to stay up to date. New ROMs normally (and I say this tongue in cheek) have improved facilities.
The O2 site does not allow my V1640 (or in the O2 case XDA Exec) to be updated by their ROM as the IMEI does not tally up as being an O2 valid product.
I guess it's back to the drawing board for my quest.
just add the number 3 right before the .html and even if u dont have a correct imei, you can access the site of O2
Thank you. I will give that a try.
Will it erase all my Vodafone settings?
All Hard Resets / Full ROM Upgrades erase everything. I believe some roms have CAB files with operator settings. Download the Imate ROM, Install, then look for the VODAFONE .CAB file in the extended ROM, copy it to PC, then Upgrade to O2 ROM then run the CAB file that you copied to the PC
Hello everyone...I am new to this...
I have newly purchased a pure white SoftBank X02HT...
It is my second WM phone...
and it is the first time I ever think about modifying it...
I bought it in Toronto, Canada... The phone has already been modified...
and unlocked...right now it is knowing itself as a Dopod C730...
it is currently a Traditional Chinese/English...
however...there are still many parts that are English only...
I have no problem reading English...
but then there are songs that I would like to have in Chinese...
also...it does not have Chinese input...I really want to know...
how can I put in Chinese...
but more important... my camera is not working...
when it turn the camera on...it tells me...
Unable to initialize camera. Failed to set up the camera device...
what do I do about that...?
also are Dopod C730...HTC S630...and SoftBank X02HT all have a different keyboard layout...? becuz right now there are some keys on my key pad...that does not match...it is not the English characters...but a few signs...
I would like to make it back into a X02HT or S630...but I don't know how to use any of the Roms...so please can someone help me...?
Thank you very much...
yes please
have a similar situation here.. I have an unlocked x02ht with the dopod730 rom and would like to install the Softbank ROM so I can use all the Softbank mobile features... but 1. where to get the rom 2.what is necessary to install it?
me too we need some tutorial plz help us
looks like we're all in the same boat though all the functions on my softbank work. I'm using mine on Rogers GSM [Canada]
Yes!
I had Softbank, turned it into DOPOD C730 to unlock and use outside Japan. Now I lost the softbank access point password.
I'm totally lost too ...
Mine start, but over 40 seconds after boot, this message ( appears and i can't use the cellular "SIM lock. You can still make emergency calls if you service provider supports it"
I've tried with 3 different SIMs and without SIM and i get the same message....
I think that installing a new software maybe will fix it, but ... i don't have any idea of how could i do it.

You can download ROM WM6.1 or WM6.5 WWE for HTC Cavalier via http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=520756
Hi everyone,
I picked up the Softbank X02HT but it came with the Chinese ROM.
Since I'm using it in Japan, I'd like to switch over to the Japanese ROM.
I wasnt able to find the Softbank Japanese ROM anywhere online... perhaps someone had a suggestion?
Thanks for your help!
also very much interested in that
i am in a similar situation and already posted several requests about switching my Dopod ROM to a Softbank one or at least get all the important functions of the Softbank ROM working on my Dopod 730...but so far no reply.
if you receive any enlightenment please share it with me.
cheers
beefandcorn,
Im in the same boat as I picked it up in HK to use here in Tokyo
kinda ironic how it was setup to use here and now it only partially functions.
I cant seem to find a ROM anywhere for it as well
some of the settings from the X01HT will work.
Im tempted to go to softbank and get them to reflash it back but i have a feeling ill get busted for having an unlocked one.
The keyboard layout is f'd up not all the keys match, I can send SMS but cannot receive, and I cannot access internet via 3G...
What is your experience like so far in Japan for the dopod rom?
Using foreign ROM on Softbank network
Actually, I’m also using the HK ROM on the Softbank branded X02HT in Japan.
SMS and 3G Packet service works okay but it seems the MMS is impossible to get working.
Just to confirm, here are my settings for internet access.
In “Connections”, I have a connection that “Connects To” “The Internet”.
The access point is “softbank”, the username is “[email protected]” and password is “softbank”.
In “Proxy”, I didn’t have anything setup.
This is the paid packet service, where you pay per use.
I think you also need Softbank to have your plan include “packet service”.
It looks like you can also setup the flat rate internet service but I haven’t tried that.
Sorry, I’m not sure about SMS issues.
Is it possible to dump the ROM from a retail Softbank X02HT?
Then, we could flash the official ROM onto the phones and all the problems go away.
Hope it helps…
i agree
yes if somebody could provide a ROM dump of the softbank rom that would help... well also need to figure out HOW to flash it then...
The company I bought my phone from (mail order from the US) offered me to reflash the phone to the Softbank ROM but it is not cheap and I also would need to send it back to the US for that (and pay for the DHL/UPS costs)
So I would prefer doing it myself (if its not such a hassle)
Yea. I got my X02HT in HK, and although everything works fine here on AT&T, I'm having an issue with remembering where some of the symbols are.. since some of them don't match up... any luck finding the Original ROM?
It seems that the original Japanese ROM also has English. and I would assume that this ROM maps the Keys correctly... as opposed to the Dopod ROM installed now...
Please HLP w/ Tmobile WIZA200 in JAPAN...cant get signal
I'm starting to think there is no solution I have unlocked and uploaded and reloaded and re-unlocked, etc but still the same problem...My phone can not access the cellular network. I did a manual search and my phone does not acknowledge the JP Softbank network. I have put different kinds of ROM's and OS upgrades, etc, but still no success. I'm starting to think that these great unlocked PDA's only work in Europe and North America and not in JAPAN.
I have seen several other threads with others having the same problem so I am going to try to ask this question in several different threads.
I have no errors and everything works fine in the process, just like everybody says it does, but still nothing for acquiring a signal. It just either shows an exclamation point or searching dots. I have compared the various carrier options on my phone to other Softbank phones and everything is the same networks except acknowledging the Softbank network.
I'm praying there is some smart person out there who can figure this out...PLEASE...PRETTY PLEASE...
Works on DoCoMo but NOT on Softbank
I also have a Dopod ROM and funny thing is, the phone works like a charm on the DoCoMo Network (Phone and SMS) but when I pop in a Vodafone SIM it cannot even connect to the Softbank network
Very Strange...
we have a thread going on this issue and maybe you can add some input.

I had a Softbank X02HT. Stumbled my way thru a DOPOD "cook (?)" and used it in Australia and Guam on GSM. Came back to Japan, threw in the softbank card...CHANGED THE NETWORK BAND...to Japan and AUTO. Worked perfect on DOPOD ROM. No 3G. I am working that right now.....

Yesterday I flashed my P3300 with WM6 ROM from xda-developers site. Now its showing different IMEI, not the original one, is there any way i can change this IMEI no? is there any software to do this ?
Please help me with this,
IMEI change?
Hi,
if you dial *#06# you get a different IMEI then is written on the label inside?
I don't believe that a ROM from xda-developers will change the IMEI from your phone.
Probably you bought a second hand phone where the IMEI already was changed on.
Note that it is illegal in most countries to change the IMEI number of a phone.
Regards,
Frans
No this is original phone i bought in Dubai duty free, when I was contacting HTC support for asking WM6 ROM from them, they asked my IEMI number, so I send the original one which match with label.
yesterday I ran Artemis_USPL software before I run the ROM. I this this USPL is to unclock CID on the phone, what you think does this USPL software change this IEMI #.....
Artemis USPL manual says that this software will make temporary SuperCID on the device, do you have any idea what that means, doest it means device will go back to its orginal CID later or what ?
CID / SIM unlock / IMEI change
Hi,
CID-unlock for Artemis is temporary, it fools the update-program by reporting once that the phone is superCID. So you can flash any Artemis-ROM on it, regardless of CID-lock.
SIM-unlock is not yet available for free for Artemis: you have to pay for it. This makes it possible to use SIMcards of other providers in it.
IMEI change: illegal acitvity. It is used to make blocked phones (mostly stolen phones) usuable again.
There are plenty of post regarding above issues on xda-developers, just search and read...
Regards,
mytrinity
Use "Wizard Service Tool" from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=295038 to change it.
There is an option for it (change IMEI)!

THIS METHOD IS ONLY FOR TRADITIONAL CHINESE
i think there is several hong kong or twiwan user of WM6.1 KisS20.4 Rom here..
this is my first time flash my rom in english......
after flash..i found that it is a very good rom that run fast and smooth..
however,i found that it is not available that install ce-star or monstar chinese with the UC package with M2D....
i like this rom and thank spocky12 very much
after i try more than 20 methods...i find several software is available for type and read chinese with M2D and run smooth....
i suppose all of you have this rom
here you go!!!!
1.Install UC package With M2D
2.go start->setting->system->remove program
DelETE the fontchange
3.download this..
http://www.sendspace.com/file/9it37b
install it
4.this is a typing method which hong kong user know about that..
筆劃輸入法
http://www.badongo.com/file/9838987
soft reset
5.go HKLM/software/Microsoft/Fontlink/SystemLink
HelveticaNeue LT 35 Thin=RAMdisk\Windows\Fonts\MSYH.TTF,微软雅黑
HelveticaNeue LT 55 Roman=RAMdisk\Windows\Fonts\MSYH.TTF,微软雅黑
SOFT RESET..FINISH~
Great Job!!!
I am a HK user, and i have searched this great job for 6 months, but I still cannot find any posts except this post that teach traditional chinese's user to flash UC rom and make it to read and type traditional chinese.
Thank you very much, however, i will try this method for my KS20 after spocky12 release the new rom soon.
p.s. Thank you for spocky12
Great job bun_0806 !
I've updated first post of KisS20 thread to add a link here.
Thanks
I remember to have installed Ce-star after flashing spocky's rom. But after many bugs I simply removed Ce-star. Then I preferred installing a single font with respective registry modifications. By the way I'll try your method to see if it will give any different result. Thank you

may you upload some detail for me?
i want to try your method

You can put your font in the windows directory of your phone and then modify the registry values. I have msyh.ttf (font name YaHei) for example, so I need to modify the registry values under
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\FontLink\SystemLink]
as
"YaHei"="\\Windows\\tahoma.ttf,Tahoma"
"Tahoma"="\\Windows\\msyh.ttf,Yahei"
"Courier New"="\\Windows\\msyh.ttf,YaHei"
"Arial"="\\Windows\\msyh.ttf,YaHei"
"Times New Roman"="\\Windows\\msyh.ttf,YaHei"
Main disadvantage of this method is that non-unicode Chinese characters become gibberish. Also China will still be unavailable in the regional settings.
Your method is superior to mine as it can truly enable Chinese support
The cab file in following link will install a font and modifies the respective registries. You can install it on top of Spocky's rom. It was made by someone named samau, so all credits should go to him.

support and display T.Chinese
hi all~
there is a useful site included how to make eng wm to support T.Chinese and change the interface to T.Chinese that i found.
http://www.studiokuma.com/wm/?section=support
i tested on my ks20 with KisS20.4 Rom already.
it can be read and write/type chinese perfectly, write chinese meaning it support handwriting input But, the problem is cannot use PlumSIP6 after that. Can anyone solve it??
finally, i havn't test the chinese interface, if anyone interest, go try and report.
Here, I hope someone can develop a perfect T.chinese version rom for HK ppl, the original rom in HK was very very weak...
Thankyou!
**Remark** install Enable_No_Policy.cab first before you do anything is a must.

the file you find in KUMA is good but not function on kiss 20
because it will reload the wince back to your ppc
it will lead many many problems there
for example...you have to reset your ks20 successful more than 10 times
hi bun,
thanks a lots, your method can run chinese smoothly, but I get some problem when I use, detail as below:
after upgrade WM6.1 KisS20.4 Rom, this rom is fastest and stable one that I try in my KS20, after upgrade all sim card cannot work. I use this phone in Hong Kong and had tried 3 Hong Kong (3G), PCCW (3G), People and China mobile sim card also. All have same problem - cannot register the network.
I also copy the xml from HK10a rom of HK telecom provider in /windows/networkprofile, can select my telecom provider name but also the same.
After I flash back HK 10a.rom (http://rapidshare.com/files/12754205...2008_.rar.html), now the phone still the same cannot register any network, but can search its own network.
I use LGMDP_EURO to flash the rom in emergency mode with unbranded rom (since I heard all HK LG ks20 is unbranded) KisS20.4Rom
Now even I flash other rom still get the same problem.
please help, thanks
