just had a question, my digitizer is shazzered because i dropped the phone on concrete...
the case is not dented but its not it great condition either if i buy the housing with digitizer already fitted on it. will i have to take the digitizer off the new housing. put the front housing on then fit the digitizer at the end?
or can i just fit the front housing on with out taking the digitizer off the new casing?
any ideas
thanks
I just replaced my LCD and digitizer on my Evo 4g, but I guess I didn't pay enough attention to the parts . My question is, where does the adhesive tape go? in other words, is it between the back of the mother board and the LCD, or somewhere between the LCD and digitizer, or where????
If it goes between the lcd and digitizer, wont the tape show?
Please help!! TIA
Any Help? Any One???
lol it dose goe in between the digi and the lcd trick is to get it to the outer edges of the screen and the tape wont show plus it should only be a thin piece not the whole thin it should look like the outer edge of the lcd place it on the outer edge then place the digi over it and you should be good !
so i was debating on getting a case or not so i decided to see how much a replacement digitizer was because with my evo lte i could get one for $16 so i decided screw a case and ill just replace when needed. but when i looked it up for this phone it looks like you can only buy a digitizer with a lcd and its like $240-$320. so is it even possible to get a digitzer by itself? and if so how hard would it be to replace?
Find a for parts galaxy s3 on ebay.. Would likely be cheaper. But idk exact price or the item your talking about.. Blanking out on what you mean by digitizer
The digitizer is the front glass that detects when and where in the screen your touching. In short, the glass you touch whenever you use your phone. And the lcd is the panel that makes all the colors that you see (this is the stupidly expensive part of the screen)

Tuscani1821 sells the full lcd/digitizer for around $130 for the s3. Replacing just the digitizer is next to impossible. Even Samsung doesn't replace them they swap the entire assembly. You can replace the glass lens with alot of patience and about 2hours of repeatedly heating the glass while carefully separating the adhesive from the digitizer. The digitizer itself is fused to the LCD and the glass is fused to the digitizer. Removing the digitizer from the LCD will, without a doubt, destroy the LCD. Removing the glass lens if not done properly will destory the digitizer. If the touch works and lcd works the digitizer isn't damaged just the glass lens is. If the digitizer even has one crack the LCD goes out with it.

how hard is it to change the glass front on the Samsung captivate glide? mine has a few cracks in the corner and i can get the glass front on ebay for under 10 bucks.
The glass is cheap but on most Samsung phones (including our Glide), the display and the glass are sealed tightly together by UV adhesive. Either you have to prepare professional equipments to melt and reapply the adhesive, or you'll have to change the glass and display altogether (which is extremely costy).

my s3 is at&t the lcd is gold now. the phone still powers up but nothing on the screen. a guy at work had a s3 from verizon and dropped it and cracked the glass so he bought a new phone.
will the verizon lcd work in my at&t phone?

It should. I've interchanged them before with perfect results. And I just looked on Ebay, that font of indisputable wisdom and a lot of sellers are advertising their assemblies as working for either /or (AT&T i737 /Verizon i535). Unless there have been running production changes along the way, you should be good to go. In your place, I'd still Google some more to confirm but they were the same part the last time I looked.
What isn't the same is the motherboard /frames for Sprint. E.g. a Sprint assembly will work electrically, but not fit very well physically in another carrier's model.
You should also be aware that the exterior glass /digitizer /LCD is a bonded unit. The exterior glass is bonded to the digitizer with an optically clear adhesive. If you are prepared to live with the cracked glass, the unit from your friends phone should drop into yours relatively easily. If you intend to repair the cracked glass, the old glass needs to be carefully removed with a heatgun. Your local cellular dealer will probably repair the glass for about $90. Or if you are handy, you can do it yourself (new glass $10 on Ebay, how to videos free on youtube.. rushing and breaking your replacement LCD priceless).

I have a s3 already and have replaced the glass a couple times. 6 $ off of ebay. I swapped the two around the only issue was with the at&t board fitting in the verizon housing. A little trimming and it works great. The new glass has been ordered for this one as well. I was surprised at how easy it was to swap around
