I have activated the advanced power feature where my xda2 will turn it off automatically after it is not used for, say, 3 minutes.
Initially my xda2 will turn itself on by an incoming call. However, after some time, my xda2 will not be able to turn on when there is incoming call. Furthermore, I noted that whenever this happen, I am unable to swith it on, even by pressing the Power button. Each time I have to perform a hard reset and that erase all the data in my xda2.
Is there anything that I could do to prevent this from happening? Right now I could only choose to turn off the backlight whenever my xda2 is not in used.
I would appreciate if someone could advise me on how to go about addressing this problem. By the way, I have upgraded my ROM version to 2.06.00WWE.
Hi Guys.
I've had my orbit for about 3 weeks now, and its been perfect. I had a spare 512mb microSD card lying about so I used that, but my 2Gb microSD card came in the post yesterday.
I put the card into the phone, and then plugged the phone into my computer via USB. The screen turned off, and no matter what I did, it wouldn't come back on.
I reset it using the small button on the side (sticking my stylex pen into it) and it restarted itself, showing the splash screen no problem, but as soon as you would expect the Today screen to show, the screen goes off. It get's weirder, because if I hold down the camera button to turn that on, the screen switches itself on, and you can use the camera no problem. If i hit the windows key, the menu appears, but if I try clicking an icon, the screen goes dead again.
Also, sometimes (not always, don't ask why) if I leave it for a couple of minutes, the screen slowly appears, as if the backlight is very very dim. But the second i tap anywhere, or touch a button, it goes off again.
I can still answer calls, and my alarms still go off. The phone seems to work perfectly, but just not the screen. I think that it might be the backlight having been turned so far down its off, but I don't know how I would go about reseting that.
Sorry for the long story, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
have you tried to make a hard reset?
Man I had the exact sane issue. Its to do with the backlight. I had to angle the screen to try and see anything on it, then changed the backlight to full and made sure it didnt switch off after certain time, everything fine since then. dont know how it happened.
exactly like fubofo wrote, try to unplug, screen should be visible again, check backlight prop.-and plug it in.
i have the same problem this appears sometimes.I think this is a damn bug that appears randomized. It happend to me like 6 times.I have the o2 xda orbit with german o2 rom. What's about yours? it dims the light under the normal makeable settings this sucks. And the camera works because the light settings goes automaticly to the highest settings in camera mode.
Hi guys,
I remember having that problem but it was when I tried some programs, including HTC X-button and another called Invisible Shooter. I haven't got any further incident after uninstalling them.
Do you think what you've encountered with may also link to some program you've installed?

Totally confirmed! Had same issue after replacing a touch screen. Thanks, guys, for a clue!
i've just updated the ROM on my artemis, after CID unlocking etc. It was working fine, although it seemed to occasionally power off whilst copying files to it via AS. Thinking it was the SD card I removed it, and now it won't turn on. Plugging into power for a few mins gives a red light on the top, but I can't power the thing on.
Anyone want to give me some tips on what I can do to rescue it?
Download this HTC P3300 WWE factory rom here http://rapidshare.com/files/19322112/HTC_1.12.405.01_026790_WWE_SHIP.rar . Now first launch Bootloader (multi color screen) and just run the ROMUpdateUtility.exe from the rar, voila your device unbricked .
Bootloader: Press voice dialing & on/off button at the same time till you see a multi color screen (red/green/blue stripes)

Your mobile is actually turned on but backlight is set to lower so your screen does not appear. It 's a known bug changing backlight by itself. It happened to me too with Β&Β4 when I enable Batery Status tray Icons. And happened again on B&B 4.3 twice with no reason and Thanks God not to lower setting.
You have two options (both painfull).
1. Hard reset.
2. Reflash.
Good Luck
i thick it's easyer than reflash or hard reset, just plus the artemis to a usb or to the charger and your screen bright will be at full bright. Once done that, simply adjust the bright when running with battery at control panel.

I'm presuming that it's not actually related to the flash, until proved otherwise though - no-one else has reported any issues and as it was a 2nd hand but new to me handset it seems more likely it already had a fault. Annoying, though.
Ric
my friend had a similar problem with his charmer, although h never cooked it.
if you are in london, go to southall, they will fix it for £20
try plugging in to the charger if the little orange light comes on, its a phone fault, if the little light doesnt come on, your phone is not holding charge, either way can be fixed
Orbit cannot be switched on, and cannot be charged

Hi, I'm having a similar problem as you described. When the charger is plugged into my Orbit, the little light does not come on. Moreover, when try to switch my phone on, it turns on and starts booting. But before it could boot further than the O2 splashscreen, it shuts off. Occassionally, I do succeed in turning it on, which it would turn it itself off at random from a few mins to a few hours after turning the phone on. I'm able to access the red, green, blue screen without any problems, and it can be turned on (ie the phone remains in the red, green blue screen) indefinately untill the battery runs out. I've tried re-flashing with the O2 official WM6 (which i was using for a few months already) which didn't make a difference. I'm able to access the phone through activesync just fine, but it wouldn't charge throughj the USB connection as well. I'm currently charging my battery with my friends Orbit.
Would any guru have any clue on what's going on with my phone? Can it be fixed?
I'm wondering if anyone has found a fix for this. I have a Verizon TP2, and yesterday the screen wouldn't come on. I can put the volume up and down (and hear the volume tones), press the hardkeys on the bottom front and those lights come on, slide the phone open and the keyboard backlight comes on. The screen itself won't light up however. If I soft reset with the internal reset button, or take the battery out then put it back in, the screen works fine until the first time I press the standby on the top left of the phone to darken the screen. Once it's dark, it stays dark until I pull the battery again. I can also receive calls, but the incoming call doesn't light up the screen either. I've already tried reflashing my ROM (which I know is a working ROM as it's the same one I've used for months). Ideas? Help!
Sounds like a rom issue or software issue. Go back to stock rom. If problem continues send for a replacement. Also do you have throttlelock or other locker installed, if so uninstall and then test.
Had a similar issue out of the blue yesterday. Phone would go to sleep and not wake up unless it was reset. It was like the power button was not connected. I had to do a hard reset and load up a saved backup. All is good now. Somtimes files get corrupt.
This has been happening to me over the last couple of weeks. It can be okay for two or three days and then happen twice in a day.
I'm on the 6.5 stock ROM, the only thing I've changed recently is the SD card. It's not so bad that I'm going to Hard reset yet (too many settings and high scores to be lost!) but if it does I'll have to. I'm not inclined to flash another ROM given I might have to send off for a repair sometime soon though.
Well my issue is that it's happening even after reflashing a rom, both my original rom and the new Verizon 6.5 upgrade rom. The phone is clearly on, but the screen backlight isn't coming on. I can even press on the screen and hear the dialpad tones as if I'm about to make a call. Is there some sort of reset that might work aside from taking the battery out for awhile? I've tried that, but so far that hasn't worked.
Hmm - sounds like a hardware issue which is more worrying, have you tried HTC support?.
HTC support as in call HTC directly, or do some sort of HTC forums? I've always received my support from XTC
Still having phone issues. I can receive still, but once the screen goes to sleep, that's all she wrote till I pull the battery again.
Well it turned out to be a hardware issue (something loose in the base). I accidentally discovered that if I pressed hard on the headphone or power jack on the bottom of the phone, that the screen would come on. Called Verizon and they overnighted me another free of charge. This one is working great so far...
I got a similar issue, mine screen turn off when fully slide out the keyboard. I was told it could be the "flex".
I have a HTC Tilt 2... I have been having a ton of problems with this phone but when it really freaks out, I usually take the battery out, let it sit a few days and then it starts working again. My phone started doing some funny things today so I restarted it as usual, it freezes and I remove the battery. When I turned it back on I got a red, green, blue and white screen with text:
RHOD300 32M MI-BC
SPL-0.87.0000
MicroP(LED) 0x0A
MicroP(KEY) 0x04
TURBO HW/TURBO SW
TP MFG DATA
498, 526 792,855
795,211 214,211
223,845 Calibrated
This has never happened before.
This RGB&W screen used to say serial when it first happend a few hours ago but then I installed ActiveSync and plugged it into PC, now says USB.
ActiveSync won't recognize my device, it does appear in My Computer.
I tried following directions in another forum to turn the device off then hold the pickup/hangup/power button at the same time...a different screen appeared than the forum directed, a gray screen with "Trigger Ramdump Mode"...then I couldn't do anything.
I can restart it back into the tri-color screen...
I need help in laymen's terms. I've never tried to change anything about the phone's operating system, I've never done an update or anything, I do not have the Tilt2 CD.
Right now I have my SIM card and my SanDisk card removed, I was afraid it could get erased when I tried the pickup/hangup/power button trick.
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!!!!!!!!!
This screen is called the bootloader. Its used by technicians (or more advanced users) to load the OS or "ROM" onto the phone. It may be stuck in bootloader because some of the OS files are damaged or missing, and the OS is not booting up. Or possibly even a hardware failure.
Pulling the battery may/may not be the culprit. I've read someone on here mention that pulling the battery can corrupt files on the phone. If the phone is lagging, frozen, then pulling the battery is not the correct way to restart the phone. The correct method of restarting the phone by soft reset is done by sticking the stylus into the small red hole/button on the side of the phone, while the batter cover is off:
http://www.hardreset.eu/htc_touch_pro_2_rhodium_hard_reset_soft_reset_en.html
Pulling the battery is only a method of last resort, as the soft reset button will work in almost all cases.
Hard reset by holding TALK, END and POWER is probably not going to work. It requires the OS to be working, and you are not even getting to the point that the OS is booting.
Its supposed to say "USB" when the phone is connected to your PC via the USB cable. If I remember properly, it will say "Serial" in bootloader for a second when you plug the phone to USB, and switch to saying "USB" after that. USB is a form of serial connection, after all (USB = Universal Serial Bus). As long as it says "USB", you are in somewhat good shape, since it SHOULD allow you to try the following.
Try downloading the latest ROM from HTC. This is actually a newer version than the ROM that was originally on your phone, but still "official" ATT software. And by most accounts, better than the old ROM. Since its official software, installing this will not endanger any warranty you may still have on the phone.
Its the first file on the following page ("ROM Update"):
http://www.htc.com/us/support/tilt-2-att/downloads/
With your phone connected to your PC by USB, run the .exe ROM update file and follow the instructions that come up on your PC screen. It should work. Try it and let us know.
Bear in mind, you will lose any personal data you have on the phone (contacts, texts, emails, etc). But you've probably already lost those.
Its possible there is some other way out of it, I certainly don't know all the tricks. But in searching around this site, being stuck in bootloader seems to require flashing a new ROM to get out of it. And it seems that you are prepared to lose your personal data, based on the fact that you were already trying to hard reset (the TALK, END, and POWER button process) which also dumps all your data. And flashing the official ROM is really pretty easy to accomplish. Just a pain that you have to re-setup the phone again, since it will basically be returned to factory condition (but in this case, a slightly newer version of the OS).
The SAME thing happened to My HTC Tilt 2 an Hour ago (1/13/2010 4:46pm)
The same exact thing occurred to my HTC Tilt 2 today. It is stuck on the red green, blue and white screen with the same yellow 'config' type message . The white bottom strip has the black letters "serial" typed in.
My problem also, is that the phone stays "on" until i pull the battery out. The moment i place the battery back in the phone, the keys stay lit up instantly and the screen is black. When pressing the power button, then i get the same red, green, blue and white screen.
Ive tried holding the talk/end/power buttons all at the same time, it doesnt make a difference. So i cant get to the step where you press the "volume up" key so to initiate the master reset.
Ihad no idea the HTC Tilt2 would just fry like this. I had no additional apps that were unusual to the norm, i even had more free space than used on the set. its not like the phone was over loaded.
Hmmmmm.... help!!!
Re-read above about "soft-reset" and you might want to try reflash your phone.

Read my post above. Your OS is missing or damaged, and you need to reflash (re-install) it.
Master reset re-loads the OS from the ROM area of your memory. The ROM is damaged, so their is nothing to reload. That's why its stuck in bootloader (tri-color screen).

Today, i stuck the battery in the phone (Tilt2) pressed the hard reset keys. THIS time it allowed the volume-UP key to finally kick in the reset to default cycle. I got the phone working again and have restored my last backup So, I havent lost anything.
The only problem now i am noticing is the light on the keyboard never goes off. Even when I power the phone down, "the keyboard stays lit".. I am having to remove the battery just to keep it from draining when the phone is not in use.hmmm. is there a regEdit key I can modify that may turn off the keys? id rather have no light at all over no battery juice. If i can edit the key to turn off the backlight on the keyboard permanantly , this will be a temp fix for me until i get a new phone.
as anyone ever experienced this?

Well, today 1/18/2011: the above issue seem to have vanished altogether. Very good. I did nothing but what i was resolved to do until I buy a new phone (take the battery out so to completely power down the phone and lights).
Today, my ole third hand decided to work like normal! Yay!. All of a sudden it rebooted, and now the keyboard backlight turns off when the keypad is closed and you can see it light up when extended. and most importantly: the back lighty for the keypad goes "off" when the phone is powerd down. go figure this one.
I am glad its working like normal now, but i know its time to get a new phone. These are just symptoms of the "big-crash" soon to come. I am backing up every day.
For now, very very glad my phone is back to "normal"
