AKU2 ROMS LOW WIFI SIGNAL - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Software Upgrading

New AKU2 ROMS are faster than previous roms but after upgrade I notice that there is 20% lost of Wifi signal. I downgrade the roms to check and I got high wifi signal. On AKU2 even I place the exec next to the router I can get only 78 to 80 percent. Same things as on Wizard. I got a netgear 108mbps on auto b or g. Before updating my roms I got 100% all over the house now I move about 5 meters and the signal is 20%.
Anybody notice this? :?:
How can I improve the wifi signal?

try moving the slider in wifi settings to better performance

Thanks Ady, It works on my exec. Move the slider full on performance but no improvement on my wizard 66% next to the router.

Ditto!
You are correct. I notice the same drop in WIFI both at home, and at my local starbucks.
I also do notice an incompatibility with my 2 SIM --> 1 sim adaptor. I think it is a radio problem.
The thing is that I do not know who to address these problems to at Dopod.
Any Idea?
Oz.

WiFi (I know, I know...)

...I searched.
I have a CID unlocked German 02 xda Orbit - I put the HTC 1.12.405.01 WWE ROM on it everything works perfect.
I did this right away before ever really messing with the phone.
So, my question is - why is the WiFi so slow on this phone. I can sit within a meter of my router and it will only show 2 bars on the signal indicator. Is there something I can do?
Thanks!
??
Hi.. i don´t know if it has something to do with your ROM, Byt my HTC P3300 works perfekt on WiFi
MicTh
What channel is your router broadcasting on?
Try switching channels until you reached max signal strength.
Useually stongest channels are between 1 and 11
Changing channels wil change your frequency slightly and can remove interference.

TILIT2 WiFi signal strength

I am using TILT2. Currently it is HARDSPL and enjoying latest Energy ROM.
My question not related to ROM, as it happened started from official, but I can not find any other person complaining for it.
Signal strength for WiFi is really low. Even if I located close to router it show 50%. Max. If I open device and take my hands away it may go max to 60%
I use Fuze, original tilt, other phones before and never have this problem. I am still in first 30day usage and can return that phone and get other one, if this one defected. Just want to know if that is problem with my phone, or it general problem people just silent about? Please let me know how well your phone receive WiFi signal compare to your prior phones, devices.
BTW I did change WiFi setting to max performance, so it not power setting issue.
i have wifi problems too. doesn't work well unless you're standing next to the damn router
Same here. Signal blows something hard. WPA doesn't connect for me either....
Same here on VZW. Though i am able to connect to my wpa2 network after installing the Touch Pro2 Cleanup by GoodThings2Life
Similar problems here. My wifi and bluetooth signal sucks. Have to hold phone up to computer to get signal for bluetooth and to get wifi signal I have to hold the phone close to router and still do not get full bars.

WiFi poor

I'je just unpacked my desire yesterday.
When i am straight "connected" to the AP, i have full wifi
20cm makes it to ok
1 meter makes it to poor
next room no Wifi
My Hero has good Wifi even next floor and poor outside the building
How can I improve that?
I have pretty much the same problem, very poor wifi access unless I am sat next to my router.
considering adding another wifi router to my home network to solve this issue
I got the opposite ... My HTC Desire has very good wifi access.
Even when I am in my bed room at 1st floor where it can only got 1-2 wifi signal, it is still damn fast. Also no problem in the 2nd floor although the signal indicater is just 1.
The wifi router is located in the ground floor.
When I used my old HTC Kaiser, there is no way I can access wifi from there.
Now, I got wifi all over
So, I think, it could be the way you configure your wifi router. Here are some pointers:
- Set to "g" ONLY
- Set to use non-crowded wifi channel
I set my wifi channel to 6, which it is not being used by neighbors wifis.
There is also an application in the market called "Wifi Analyzer":
http://www.cyrket.com/p/android/com.farproc.wifi.analyzer/
It is free and it is damn good for showing your wifi signal strength and channels etc.
Install that and let us know your situation.
Installed WifiAnalyzer
In my office building (which has plenty WiFis) i only sometimes see our Wifi which as a 7dBI antenna. but this shows with "half -90dbm"
our Linksys Wag160N has -40 when Desire touches the AP and -60 when 1 meter away
How can I set "g only" on my desire?
HTC sais I have to
- have a small distance between AP and Desire
- Check the "angle and how I have it in my hands" between AP and Desire
-enable WiFi
--> I gonna change the phone
The "g" only is setting in your wifi router, not desire.
I am now in the attic and my wifi signal is not that good.
When the signal is -90, I got about 500 kbps (using SpeedTest app), not quite usable, sometimes the connection was dropped.
When the signal is -80, I got about 2000 kbps ... usable
Those are examples on the worst condition at my place and my HTC Desire.

I've had my phone conected to my WiFi while I was in my car on the drive which is 15 metres away.
yep same prob here if in same room of router sinal fine, if i move out of the room and about meters away then i almost loose it will try the HD, but im sure it was the SPV m3100 i could get my wifi out in my street,
Why is the desire wifi so poor ??
its a great phone, but it seems to be going from Desire to Dire
i went to the shop where I bouhgt the desire and they were changing it.
Now I have good WiFi again
The Wifi signal is fantastic, its stronger and faster than any of my other devices connected to my Netgear DG834g (custom)
@pickie, it sounds like you need to replace ur handset
Wifi connection loss an reconect
Hi there,
i have also a problem with my wifi connection. The connection to the router works fine, but every 3 or 6 seconds the connection is lost and the phone reconnects. One to 4 pings to my HTC Desire are lost, then 7 to 10 pings work fine, and again some pings ar lost. Its somhow a bouncing conanection.
I´ve testet the app wifi analyzer and i can´t see any problem - connection strength is around -36 to -40 dbm, so what could it be?
I am using a Zyxel nbg460n, the connection to my notebook just works fine...
I hope, anyone has any idea

Same here for everything you said. -60dBm on 2nd floor right now with router on ground about 90m away. The reason why I predominately use WiFi.
Sent from my HTC Desire using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
This guy fixed his wifi issue by changing the router channel:

More in general, but I boosted signal quality by switching back to b instead of g.

Yes, i noticed that switching channels improves my pings... but just for a while and just for this time - next day i have the same problem again. switching the channel while my phone is connected helps a bit though - but i guess this can only be a workaround than the solution.
and it does not matter if my phone is in my hand or just lays on the table and the distance to my router doesn´t matter.

I have solved my wifi problems by changing the software on router. Went from pfsense to openwrt, and everything works now.

WLAN Signal extemly low (1 bar @ hotspot )

Hello together!
I have a problem with my Desire
I'm using CM7 since months without troubles.
But from one night to the other my wlan signal is extremly low, i have one bar of signal strength directly at the hotspot (no problems with other mobile phones or notebooks etc)
After that i tried many things:
newest radio, newest CM7, a new middle case ... without success.
The GPS signal is good ...
I think the Bluetooth signal is also not so good, but i don't have a reference here.
So i hope anybody can help me here!
Thanks pmneo
but does your wifi work ok , i mean are u able to surf on ur phone with wifi ??
or do u have to sit near the hotspot for that ?
i can surf about 3-5 meters around the hotspot.
Before i got that problem i was able to surf everywhere in the house ...
Do you also have the problem with other hotspots?
If not it's a hotspot issue (change wifi channel or something), if so I would advice to test it with a standard rom to be sure.
If it's still bad with the standard rom after that it's probably the hardware of your phone.
Try with another hotspot. If problem remains, do a backup and hard reset, or you can even try a new rom.
I tried the hotspot @ work -> same problem
I tried some other roms -> same problem
I think the antenna is the problem ... does anybody nows where the antenna is located?
Thanks pmneo

Wifi range drastically reduced after JB update

hey all,
After the jb update, my wifi range seems to be reduced. Does anyone else have the same problem?
Does it just show less signal bars or is it actually disconnecting if you go too far away from your WiFi router?
it disconnects..
