I have a personal FTP set up with the Internet Information Service on my LAN, and I can connect to it with everything but my Qtek. Does anybody know why? I can connect to several external FTP servers I have tried. Should I use something else than regular PocketIE?
I use resco file explore to connect to ftp sites and links of this site through my MDAIII work fine for me if I want to download the files to it.
Finally found it! It wasn't the PPC at all, it was a misbehaving firewall. It was set to stealth blocked ports, but it even stealthed ports that weren't blocked, as long as they weren't in use from the server and out, so connecting from the Net didn't work at all. Even over the LAN it didn't work for the PPC, but it worked from another PC. Why I have no idea...

Does anyone know how to access to my desktop's Shared Folder?
I have a wireless router, set Shared Folder option in my desktop, and connected my Dash to wireless internet.
I only need an app. (explorer) that supports network.
I tried PocketLan and GSFinder, but they are for PPC, not for smartphone.
Moreover, Resco Explorer 2007 smartphone does not support network.
I could access to my desktop's Shared Folder with my previous PPC and GSFinder+.
Thanks.
total commander.
Thanks for your reply.
I tried a free version of total commander; however, it doesn't have "Network" setting either.
Is there a specific version that enables Network?
i use a work around.. its not the soluton you need... but.. my 5cents
i use bluetooth. i have bluetooth ftp service with shared-folder in my desktop, then i just use "bluetooth explorer" in my dash.
my desktop = ubuntu
my excalibur rom = wm6.1 by rick (the last one i hope heheh)
i think you can google easy some bluetooth shared folder server for windows..
I would use Bluetooth Shared Folder if I had Bluetooth feature in my desktop; however, my desktop doesn't
Maybe, there is no way to access to "Shared Folder" in Smartphone. I found no result even though I spent a long time searching about Shared Folder in Smartphone.
I've loved to use "Shared Folder" feature in my previous PDA since I didn't have to use USB cable each time I want to move some files.

long story short...the smartphone wont handle netbios broadcast and i dont think any of us have figured out a windows networking work around....i will play around tonight with a few little things i have found......one of the work arounds is using www.orb.com . or you can get one of the mobile ftp clients and set up your pc as an ftp server. you can also use vnc to transfer files if im not mistaken.
i will let you know how my little test goes
Mrkim,
1. Setup Mesh on your PC.
2. Setup a folder to share in Mesh
3. Go to http://m.Mesh.com on your Dash
Works when you're home or away!

yes...hence why we have suggested to get an ftp client for the phone and set up the pc as the server on the local side.
second for mesh.com. works great.
Mesh does not work for me; however, FTP server works great for me
Now, I can connect to my desktop folder from my Dash.
Thanks to you all.
hey all,
sorry im a newbie, and i have serched but found nothing.
I can accsess my networked pcs though my phone, but how can i share my storage card though the phone wlan, so i can have accsess to the card on my pc's?
bump bump bump
Try this
The only options that I'm aware of for what I think you're trying to do are either to turn your pocket pc into an ftp server and share your entire storage card or to use WM5torage over usb.
You might also want to look into VM Network Browser. You could setup a samba share on your PC then push files to it using this software or you could try tinkering around with the "Enable 'Network' Folder" option under Advanced Network Settings.
I hope my advice was helpful.

Mocha FTP
As Lancealot said, you can run an FTP server on your phone. I use Mocha FTP on my Hermes all the time and it works for me through my wifi connection. They released it as freeware, you can grab it at the link below

Hello,
I'm looking for a software that act as a server for sharing my files in file explorer on the network. The inverse function works fine but there is no serve on Wm 6.1 for serving file sharing system.
I don't want to use FTP server.
Thanks a lot.
Normally file sharing can normally be done via FTP on a Windows Mobile device since that is the most reliable. The function used to be available as an Ad-hoc network via WiFi but Microsoft turned off the function a while back. Easiest way to get file sharing now is via FTP . Another option is using an online data server and then sharing files online.
One other idea is to use this:
http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/Internet-Utilities/Mobile-Web-Server-Free-42332.shtml
which turns your Windows Mobile device into a web server. You can then access everything via HTTP or FTP.
Thanks a lot it really useful.
could please recommend a just good FTP server?
Try this:

Works pretty well and it's free. If not, then just use the webserver application since it's almost the same thing except it adds HTTP access.
