"Warning to Universal Users !!! Do not upgrade to AKU2 if you have bootloader v0.56 on your device, DO NOT upgrade to an AKU2 or you will turn it into a paperweight!
To check your bootloader, hold the light key, power key and press the reset button. If it says v1.00 then you don't need to worry. If it says v0.56, you must not upgrade to AKU2. If you do, the only way to fix it is to flash back to a pre-AKU2 rom or upgrade your bootloader to v1.00 (which is currenty not possible publically).
How do I know this? Personal experience and a good friend with a lot of technical know-how."
just to let you know, i've edited the article to expand on what actually happened and how i came to find that out
I have a 0.6 boot loader
Will 0.6 boot loader upgrade to the new rom or not?
I have 0.6 Bootloader and newest Qtek rom works fine.
Me too....3 Unis, all of them hv 0.6 and are running latest O2 ROM...
Once again I reapt..while flashing I hv always put them in Bootloader mode manually first and then flashed...always

Great... just ran the update on my XDA Exec (not sure about my bootloader version), after the phone rebooted during the first mins, I got an error msg on the PC.
Now the phone won't power up, not even show any light indications when charger plugged!
Damn!

Re: what is "light key" ??
here is another link to 1.01 bootloader
ftp://ftp.clubimate.com/JASJAR_BL1.01_RUU_V1.2.zip
I have not tried it.
HTC sais that you need to upgrade to it from 1.0 if you don't see text "Serial V1.0" on screen after entering bootloader. Though bootloader works fine even without this message.
I can confirm the freezing on bootscren is still there evern after ugradation to 1.01..don't know why...I guess a bad DOC...but if it is a bad DOC then why it accepts the flash?
Hello.
After upgrading, my Universal dont boot. It's locked at operator start screen.
Hard reset dont unlock it from splash screen.
If I press (ligth + soft reset), select Clean Registry Hive and Format Storage to YES, then reboots and the screen goes to WHITE.

Have you tried flashing it back to the OLD ROM or the PREVIOUS ROM you have used and worked on your unit? Try finding another link to download your NEW ROM, sometimes files get corrupted.
I tested with a lot of roms, imate, qtek, t-mob... but nothing works,... i will try to get an original rom and flash from SD card...
get connected :?
bad bad bad, not working...
i have the same problem i also, stuck at the splash screen. i have bootloader v1.01 i first unlocked my mda pro with the buzz programm after that i flashed wit the tmobile rom. and it got stuck i reflashed it wit my old qtek rom and it still freezes at the qtek screen.
I think the problem lies on your Boot Loader version. Most of the LATER released ROM is using Boot Loader version 1.00. So anyone who flashed their device with the latest T-Mobile ROM without removing the bl.nbf file got updated to version 1.01. Thus any ROM you try to use won't work.
Try flashing your devices back with Boot Loader version 1.0, then use the old ROMs.
Yes, i have the 1.01 bootloader...
How Can I downgrade to 1.00?
Thanks in advance¡
Some idea in downgrade bootloader?

You have to use the Ma_Upgrade_No_ID Tool and I made a short instructions on how to use it in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=42784&start=50
AND REMEMBER to put your device on Boot Loader Mode before double clicking the Ma_Upgrade_No_ID Tool.

yeah, i already did that, but what i wanted to say. it succefully downgraded the bootloader from v1.01 to v1.00. and it also succesully upgraded the Qtek WWE rom. but it is still stuck at the splash screen (the screen shows QTEK wit a sky background and it shows the R 1.09.00 G 42.42.P8 D1.30.77 WWE)

Hi,
I am trying to upgrade my bootloader to HardSPL 7. using mrvanx guide. I my current boot loader is
HERMER 200
SSPL by Des
HardSPL : 1.09 ds
After showing tri color screen it says 0% completed and within 1 sec it says 100 % done. When I hard reset again to check SPL version it gives me the old version number ( SSPL by Des, HardSPL : 1.09 ds).
It only takes a couple of seconds to update. Put your Hermes into bootloader using the buttons and check again - it should reflect the updated bootloader.
Hi,
I have exactly the same problem and version numbers. I can try to upgrade it 100 times, the bootloader does not change. Any ideas?
The information on my signature is not true, because my device was replaced. But I want to get there again

I suggest you check the version number again.....unplug the device.....press and hold the side ok button and the power button....then insert the stylus into the bottom of the device.
I am trying to udate my M700 to Hard SPL 1.20. I follow the steps as per the trinity guides. I get to the screen where it says update the ROM Version from 1.23.61.5 to 1.20. I click on next and it says you are ready to update your ROM image. I click on next again and the screen for showing the % of update done when the device resets itself to the screen showing TRIN100 IPL-SSPL by Des and SPL-1.07.ds. However, the update screen changes to error code #246 device not responding and loses activesysnc connection. I also have exactly the same problem when trying to update the Radio as well.

When you see the error code, DO NOT TOUCH the pda, just restart the Rom update utility program!
Everything will be ok!
Thanks for that, was able to install hard spl 1.2, sim/cid unlock as well as update radio to version 1.5. How can I check that my CID is actually unlocked?

If you have hard-spl, you do not need cid-unlock. Hard spl will ignore CID check during flash....
Thanx guy's. Works!!. started the update again after the error message.

Hello,
I have a HTC Touch Diamond p3700. Now I have take a look around at the forum/wiki and other external links. and found a solution to my problem. What I wanna do is change the language from my phone to english. Throught a website found on google I was able to get "HTC Touch Diamond_MRII_RUU_Diamond_HTC_Europe_2.03.401.3_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.51.25.26_1.09.25.23_Ship"
from the HTC website (by the provided serial number). my question number 1 is is this file I got compatible with my phone?. Also by reading the wiki about SPL I found out I could do a SPL ROM update (just install the rom with the provide file from HTC website) or do a HARDSPL ROM update. Question number 2 is What is the avantage to have a HARD SPL?.
To my situation isnt it better to have a soft SPL over hard? If I just want to change the OS language! I dont need any tweaks or so. Just want it in english, like how it will be like a brand new HTC comes from US or UK.
I hope you guys can help me out with this question. Thanks in advance
If you want to change stock rom, with another language than on your phone, you have to flash HSPL olinex-unsigned, you can find it on this forum, use 1.93-olinex-unsigned.
You don't have to flash SPL, just if you upgrade your stock rom with same language like on it, which came with your phone, where you buyed, form example if you buyed phone in SWE, rom on it is SWE, and if you try to change lang-rom with WWE, it will show message, "wrong vendor id, or lang id" , than what you have to do, if you change lan OS, from originally, you have to flash with olinex-unsigned...
What I have done now is Flashed to Hard-SPL-Diamond-OliNex.
The problem now is when I try to run the SPL ROM update it will stuck at 0 procent (phone screen) and in windows it say 262 update error.
I have tried with _HTC Touch Diamond_MRII_RUU_Diamond_HTC_Europe_2.03.401.3_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.51.25.26_1.09.25.23_Ship which I downloaded from the HTC website and also with RUU_Diamond_HTC_Europe_1.93.401.2_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.29.25.12_1.00.25.05_Ship which is provided in this forum as supported ROM.
Can anyone help me out?

Place your device into bootloader mode(soft reset + hold vol. down until you see rainbow screen) before flashing.
Connect to pc....u should see bottom switch from serial to usb then flash device using your RUU_exe.
it say "Trigger USB Host..." Few seconds later than in red "Retry Enter USB"
More Info:
Currently
ROM Verion: 1.93.404.1 NLD
ROM Date: 07/10/08
Radioversion: 1.00.25.05
Protocolversion: 52.29.25.12H
Some Extra Info:

It should just read USB in bootloader mode. Not familiar with above statements. Try another USB port.
when I do (soft reset + vol down + back) it comes into the tri color screen. Then it switch screen to something where it say "no image found" and switch to the screen I descript
Edit:
I have plugged the phone into another usb port now I get the tri color screen with USB on the bottom. Then I run the RUU I downloaded from the htc site. But it cannot detect my current ROM version so I ignore that and just go on. Then the phone jumps into the progress bar screen!! it has been 3 minutes now but still @ 0%
I have no idea what it was or why is that. But I have successfully update the ROM into english. What I have changed from my configuration above was searching for SPL 1.40 on the internet. After reading alot I have the idea that the version 1.30 I had downloaded is not the right one. And unfortunately I cannot find 1.40 on this forum so I had to try with google. After flashing the phone into 1.40 UNSIGNED (yes I took the risk and put the unsigned version on it).
When all that has happened I could easily run the ROM I downloaded from the HTC website and update the phone. Everything goes smoothly without problem.
So the problem lies in version 1.30 HSPL vs 1.40 HSPL.
For people just drop into this website and want to change your ROM etc. here is a good tip. The information given on this website is great, good, and correct! but just beware that the tools provided might be outdated while tutorials, FAQ's, WIKI and forum threads are all taking about the newer version of tools.
