I've sat here all day; I've read all the tips, suggestions, etc. I don't know what else to do. I too am stuck at the "blue splash screen" that everyone else is stuck at. It won't boot from there. I've even tried to reflash with the old ROM and it did not boot either. I entered the KITL settings that I've found here and it went to a white screen and I had to reboot since that just hung as well. I've tried MTTY, but I do not see an option for USB, I see an option for Com 1, Com 2 and Com 3. I've tried every USB port I have on my rig. I'm over it. I loved my device until I tried to upgrade it; I don't think I should have done that and my wife is going to be infuriated with me over this. If someone, anyone can help without the ever so constant "You should have used the 'SEARCH' option" I would sincerely appreciate it.
Thank you,
Monty Gibson

Can you enter bootloader?
I got stuck a the splash screen before. What I did was upgrade just the radio by deleting all .nbf files in the upgrade pack and running MAUpgradeUt_NOID.exe.
After success, I hard reseted (___+___+Reset hole)
then it went through so i flashed again from the start. I heard it might help that the SD card isn't in.
I tried flashing both ways (W & W/O SD Card) didn't make a difference to me.
Hope i can help once i get a better status of what really happened

Yes, I can enter bootloader. My SD card and SIM card are both removed. I will try what you suggest and post my findings.
Thank you,

No, the radio only upgrade still leaves me stuck at the blue splash screen. Any other suggestions?

Is it possible that the ROM you are trying to install is corrupt?
Have you tried installing another type of ROM? O2, Orange, Qtek?

I've downloaded the Qtek ROM from here, on this FTP server. I have not tried another ROM. I will try; however, and see if it will work.

I've flashed my Qtek with the latest JasJar ROM and it is still stuck at the splash screen. Any other suggestions from anyone?

Ok so tell me what you are doing, go through the steps you are doing one by one. Perhaps I will spot something, perhaps not.
It sounds as if you have a rom loaded that does not match the device.

I've downloaded the Qtek ROM for my Qtek 9000 from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=46660
Once downloaded I do the following:
- Ensure that ActiveSync is not running (not that it would sync anyway since my device is a brick), but I make sure that it is not taking up the USB Connection.
- I set the device in boot loader mode (as suggested here), plug in my device which goes from Serial to USB and I bring up the MTTY utility, select USB from the left hand side of COM ports and run the "Set 14 0" command.
- I then run the upgrade that I've downloaded from here.
- Once it's finished I then do what the screen tells me to. I disconnect the device, I press both (-) buttons and insert my stylus into the reset button and the 0/X screen appears and hit 0.
-It says that it's "clearing" and the Qtek screen appears with the new versions and just hangs.
That's what I have been doing. If you see something wrong, please tell me. I've even flashed the I-Mate JasJar ROM over night (went to bed as it was flashing and woke up and I saw the I-Mate flash screen, and it is still stuck at the I-Mate splash screen too).
Thank you for your assistance,
Monty Gibson
OK the first thing that comes to mind is you say you have a Qtek 9000 why are you not getting the Qtek ROM from Qtek?
Is it possible to get the official ROM for your device from whoever you bought it from?
Are you perhaps trying to change the language as well as the ROM?
What USB cable are you using, the one that came with your device? My experience is all USB cables are NOT the same. My JasJar has a black arrow on the top side that plugs into the JasJar. Check the power adapter that plugs into your Qtek for any markings on it that are special and see if you can find a USB cable with the same markings. And I believe that it is not that ofter cables are defective, but rather that the Universal Cable is special, and has a connection that the normal USB cable does not have.

Qtek does not supply ROM's to those who did not purchase from Brightpoint. If you try to log onto their website and register, you're asked for the IMEI number on the back of the device. If you try and do this it is stated that they will not support the device that we have to contact our local dealer from whom we purchased it from.
I purchased my Qtek 9000 from www.qtekphonestore.com. I've already emailed them and stated my claim. It's the holiday weekend here and I won't hear back from them until Monday.
The ROM's that are here; on this site, are "supposed" to be from Qtek themselves. I have to believe that they are, I have nothing else telling me otherwise. I believe them to be the correct code for my device and I'm not trying to change the language. I downloaded the version for WWE which was previously installed and shipped.
I also have tried to reflash with the old ROM and it will not accept it.
My USB cable is the one I have that came with the device, it seems to work and I don't have another one available. Any other suggestions?
Thank you for your comments,
Monty Gibson
Try this
Here is a method that worked for me
First lets be sure of the ROM you are messing with. What I downloaded from XDA is UNI_QTEK_13077_176_10900_WWE_Ship.exe
If you are at the (Serial/USB V1.00) Boot Screen try to update the firmeware using the method described in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=45874&highlight=boot+screen
If the ROM is successful (goes through the entire process without error...UNTIL you cold-reset where you STILL end up at Boot Screen)
then do this
Attempt to upgrade the ROM using the Qtek ROM above (double-click the file do not use the extracted files). For some reason the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe while it did not upgrade ROM it did "fix" the problem which did not allow the regular QTek ROM to work.

My DOPD - bought in China was running a chinese version of WM5.0 and I wanted to install a english version.
After upgrading my DOPOD 900 with the upgrade : Universal_Upgrade_v1.30.68_radio_1.09.0.zip I have problem.
It is really DEAD. soft reset does nothing and a hard reset only gives the option of "0" and "X" which do nothing.
the USB is no longer recognised and nothing seems to want to communicate with the Dopod. It seems the USB loader program is no longer running on the Dopod.
Has anybody any idea how I can attach to the device an install a new bootloader, or something.
I had the same issue and I have a solution. But, let me tell you my process that got me where you are.
I tried performing the update using the No_ID (or whatever) method and kept getting errors. I rebooted my PC and changed the Operator ID using the HTC64 Extended ROM Tool.
After this, I was able to use the typical installer. The flash went fine and I hard reset as instructed. From that point on, I had your exact problem.
A dead screen. I was able to redo the hard reset after pulling the battery but I would just end up with the dead (blank) screen again. ONCE, I did get it into boot loader mode where I could actually read the screen. But, of course I reset and again had a dead screen.
My solution was to revert back to a true O2 ROM. Even though I couldn't see the screen (still can't), the ROM update is proceeding as I type this. I'm at 44% of the radio ROM installed.
Hope this gives you hope!
Well, good news. I just finished the ROM update and I'm looking at the O2 boot image.
Is there any indication that the QTek ROM looks for the Carrier info to be QTek or it will fail once installed? Just wondering why I had this problem.
ARG! Reflashing with QTek ROM did the same thing.
Blank screen and all.
check 2 things
uncheck usb from active sync
hardreset after upgrade has been completed
just do the upgrade again and it should come alive again
Thanks and another question
Well thanks for the hope. but I have tried this already with no luck, however after this message I will try again. My biggest problem is that I cant regain communication over the usb.
I would like to know how your system behaved when you plugged in your apparantely dead device. My system just says device un recognised and I cant begin a download with or without active sync.
So I cant get another rom image to download.
regards
Nick

This was the first thing I did.
The problem is that I cannot get any communication over the USB.
The device is unrecognised on USB and after starting any ROM download it just timesout after "checking information from device" message .
Ever seen a dead USB interface like this ?
The USB PnP mgr sees the hardware but cannot establish the device type !!

@mobinick: You and I have the same situation.
I have 2 Universal dead like this. 1 Exec and 1 Jasjar.
Both dead, blank screen, can not enter bootloader, can not connect with PC. PC can not recognize the driver usb of the device.
I opened the phone and found that logically everything is so so. There is no clue about hardware.
So I think: the address of the bootloader with device ID maybe unlucky damaged.
Who can fix this problem pls share us some experience.
Thanksss

Why don't you guys take it to your respective service centres and get it fixed?
Even if you have to pay something, it will certainly be better than these bricks occupying table space.
Have you tried going back to an original O2 ROM? I went to 1.13.139 WWE and all is fine now.
Just to share my experience with you guys here:
I posted my problem way back during the Radio Upgrade from 1.04 to 1.06. My Dopod 900 got stuck on the splashscreen. I couldn't get my device to pass the splashscreen even after upgrading/downgrading the radio ROM back and forth two times.
Finally, I just forced my device into bootloader mode (Backlight+Reset+Power). Even after doing this, the dopod screen was completely blank (no indication of serial/usb letter on the screen). I downloaded the official O2 exec ROM and plug my device (in bootloader mode) back to the USB port. It said unrecognized port on my PC. Despite that, I reflashed my Dopod back with the NoID tool the complete O2 ROM (Radio, Main ROM & The extended). Once completed, my device regained its consciousness.
I managed to flashed back the 1.06 radio after that. And has since been upgraded 4 times (two i-mate, one Orange and the latest QTek ROM) with no problem whatsoever.
I had the exact same problem as you to guys, i tried to update it, and it wouldn't budge...
It constantly, without fail timed out... I tried everything...
As my hope started to wain, i gave it one last shot...
I took out everything, sim and sd and battery, then connect the battery back and from the bootloader menu, connected it to the pc, with usb cable...
Finally it worked!! Like normal, i was able to load any and all rom and radio updates...
Wouldn't work, from the normal working screen (which was working for a while, i later tested this out, and found out ) and also wouldn't work, from the bootloader (power+backlight+reset) with sim+flash in there....
Hope you guys have some luck.. I htink you should, because i was in the exact same boots as you guys...
It worked for me
My O2 Exec did exactly the same thing, and I spent (on and off) 24 hours trying to get the damn thing to go again - wouldnt charge either....
I too finally took out everything, SIM and sd and battery, then connect the battery back and from the bootloader menu (which I only found about from this site), connected it to the pc, with usb cable...
It worked as well - bloody brilliant. I now have the latest 02Exec Upgrade (Version 1.30.162 AKU2 Release) and all is great.
Cant believe that 2 days after logging email with O2 site, they have not responded...
Would almost kiss you guys.....
Solution for getting stuck in bootloader
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Instructions for those stuck on Boot Screen
Hi guys.
Was hoping you could help me out.
I performed a search on the forums and didn't find the answer.
I have an O2 XDAII.
I tried to upgrade the ROM from the O2 site.
The upgrade somehow went south and the only thing I have on the sceen of the device is:
At the top - "Serial"
At the bottom - "v1. 06"
I tried taking out the battery and then putting it in again, but the same things appear on screen as detailed above.
Any suggestions/advice would be gladly appreciated.
I had that.
I plugged back in the USB cable and the message changed from Serial to USB - I then re-ran the ROM upgrade and it all worked OK.
Give it a try and let me know how you got on.
I'm getting the same problem. On my phone (UTStarcomm PPC6700), I have the Serial/USB header, with a V1.00 on the bottom.
When I first attempted the ROM Upgrade, it switched over to the screen. I've tried removing the battery, resetting, and re-launching the ROM upgrade app, but nothing.
Any other ideas???
solutions found?
Anyone know the solution?

ISTR that when you get to that screen it is after a hard reset.
You should just be able to hook up the USB cable and re-install the rom.
If you are having problems re-installing the rom, what sort of error messages are you getting?
Have you tried installing another ROM?
Serial v1.01
This is all that is written on the grey screen after trying to install ROM. Does anyone know how to proceed? I have an i-mate Jasjar.
It doesn't sound as though the rom is getting installed properly.
Do you get any error messages from the ROM installer?
I did not get any errors while installing. I did upgrade to 1.30.101 some weeks ago, but the phone turned very slow and froze. Therefore I now tried to install 1.30.77. Now the screen is grey and the only text is serial and v1.01. Anyone know how to proceed?
problems updating ROM
I have a Tmobile MDA PRO. I updated the ROM to the newest version, but now my phone only displays a screen with a tmobile logo, and the version information and thats it.
I tried to do a hard reset and still the same thing, I tried to redo the ROM install program, but its says[error message 101] that my phone is on but it cannot connect to it.
I have had my phone for one day and it is virtually useless.
Can someone please tell me how to flash the rom, or which is the best ROM to install for the mda pro/qtek 9000 series?
Help would be much appreciated!!!!!!!!!!

Go and get your MDA PRO into Bootloader Mode: Press backlight + power button and do a reset. You should now see without backlight on top of your screen: serial and on the bottom: v.1.xx
Now connect MDA PRO with the USB datacable and run the ROM Update
again .. hopefully you have 50%+ battery capacity

Tried mtty methode too but nothing detected on USB port. (Killed active sync modules with task manager)
Tried several times to enter in bootloader mode but nothing displays on screen like before. Screen stays black.
I hope it isn't broken cause seems windows detected something pluged on the usb

No other way to get it back in bootloader mode ?
since the bootloader is also overwritten with something from the BA ROM, it is improbable.

Hi everyone!
I really need help!

I already tried everything!
i flashed de boot part with E1, flashed the three parts with the c4 and e1 rom and nothing! the flash process always complete without errors!!
I can acess bootloader without problems, i can also entre the hard reset menu pressing the green , red and power button but when i press space to performe the hard reset nothing happens and i tried to wait several minutes!
when I power on the phone it doens't even show the samsung logo! Just black screen!
I would really apreciate some help!
thank you!
A good challenge for the I780 Specialists
I bet that the solution would be very easy
All the best to you
There are quite a number of answers posted. EFN had already explained too many times. He had said that the bootloader works fine, that's a good start.
Just get the necessary rom from EFN thread, phone rom PUHE1 and the pda rom DXHE1. There is even a tutorial on this in EFN thread (1st post).
g00ndu can you please help find the thread/topic where EFN explaines it, i'm having a hard time finding it!
thank you
I think he is talking about this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=409258&highlight=EFN+PUHE1+DXHE1
download Flashing Guide Tutorial - at the bottom of the 1st post
did exactly as said in the tutorial....
nothing... it seems that the eboot is always the same.....
i don't know what else to do!
g00ndu i can't find the thread you are talking about....
where does EFN talks about the bootloader or a problem like mine??
could you please help me!
thanks!

Okay step by step:
Did you downloaded the russian rom i780PUHE1 (eboot+phone+pda)?
Did you downloaded the i780DXHE1 (pda only)?
Follow the tutorial, assuming step 1 to 4 had already been done.
(5) Launch Mirage updater. Select MIRAGE LV image as the profile
(6) Select EBOOT+PDA+PHONE and select the extracted RUSSIAN .img file
(7) Click on DETECT
(8) Switch on the phone while holding the ENTER and FUNCTION buttons (ALT BUTTON)
(9) After the system DETECT message appears, connect the phone via USB to your PC
(10) Wait until the image is written.
Before flashing to the DXHE1 rom first, please try to boot up and see if it works. If it is successful, you will see plenty of gibberish characters. This is EXPECTED, as the rom is russian.
If it doesn't boot up, then I am sorry I won't be able to help you.
Try the above first. Point to note is to choose eboot+phone+pda. Always press detect first before going through the enter+function+power on process.
If it works, please let me know.
g00ndu, thank you very much, but i already done that several times step by step....
but, unfortunately it stays the same....when i power it on it turns on the backlight but the screen remains black and nothing happens...
but thank you very much anyway!
hellboss, I'm sorry about your device. Perhaps it might be a hardware issue. I'm not sure.
While the device may have a black screen, you could try to see if the LED lights work, whether there is a sound after the system boot up. These are important clues to see if it is really hardware issue.
Once again, I wish you could find a solution to your problem.

I'm not really sure, but have you try to dump your rom using pdocread, one of the itsutilsbin tools? Meaning get the Part00, Part01 and Part02 raw files which is your rom dump?
If i were you I will try most official rom to rescue the device first. like i780XHC4 that one has all three (healthy and normal) parts.
dogmood i already tried.... but still nothing...
g00ndu , to dump the ROM don't i need to change some values on some key at the pocket pc registry?? if so i can't because the pda doens't start....
P.S-the first time i flashed it i did it on a pc with windows xp but all the time the process was incomplete and i need to turn off the phone and restart the phone, and at the second time was succesful, now i'm doing it on a virtual machine running windows xp pro sp2,,,,, can my problem be related to that??
thank you!
I use a VM for the flashing myself, so this shouldnt cause problems.
If flashing the official rom (EBOOT & Phone & PDA) doesnt work for u then you have to consider the fact that your i780 busted on the hardware level.
The best thing to do now is to claim for warranty and make sure u sent them beack with official rom in your phone (HC4)
Hi EFN,
well I've considered that, and I think that my next move is going to be warranty
but unfortunately the ROM that came with the PDA was not the DXHC4, i bought my samsung in Portugal.
my problem now is that the PDA became dead when i flashed it with the DXHC4 eboot, and now that i can't flash any other ROM i can't put the original ROM, which i have a dump, on it....
so i think that is not going to be accepted on warranty....
honestly i can't discover what went wrong.... I followed every single step of the tutorial to revive a dead i780....
thanks!
P.S-> EFN, I'm a great admirer of your work (samsung i780 ROMs), unfortunately I'm not going to be able to try them......but... anyway keep up the good work!
I believe for as long as the rom on your i780 is an official one (regardless of version), Samsung will honor the warranty. You have to try to know. And of course dont tell them that you have been messing up with flashing this and that
well i think so, if the rom is an official one they will honor the warranty...
that's the why of my question about a way to know the version of the ROM installed on the PDA, but i haven't discover anything...
i guess will just try my luck and send it to warranty!
thanks!
Hiya XDA
I've been trying all evening to get any HardSPL onto my Diamond without success, everytime I try I get to 0% and after a few minutes "error [260] connection" and the phone keeps its' black screen until I soft-reset it.
Can anyone help me get a hardspl onto my phone? I would really like to try WM6.5. I've read many SPL-guides already, so you don't have to point me to them
(even that on modmydiamond.info)
Thanks in advance!

Here's the Tutorial and here's the Troubleshooter. They're both stickies. Please search and read before posting.
Thanks for the quick response, but as I said. I've read all stickies and guides, and it's still stuck at 0%.

Did you let your device sync with Activesync/Windows Mobile Device Center?
Try recreating the sync pairing.
Try uninstalling the device from PC's Device Manager and reinstalling it and then try recreating the sync partnership.
Try another USB port.
Yes, yes, yes and yes. I even tried doing it on my laptop.
Edit: I even tried flashing down to 1.93 with HTCs official stuff, no success there either

Another USB cable?
Try manually entering bootloader and connect to PC. The label should say USB not Serial and try from there.
esset,
May I ask what branding/model of the Diamond you own?
I own a pure AT&T model just purchased a week or two ago. And, so far I've also had almost zero luck flashing it. I'm moving from an AT&T Tilt which I've flashed so many times, the USB port is starting to wear down. I've also got a lot of experience with many small computing devices with all types of weird programming and flashing routines, so I'm not a newbie. But the AT&T Fuze just seems to be locked in a way that has yet to be covered by the good XDA folks here. Heck, I can't even dump the shipped ROM off the device to send it here for checking out by the developers. All I've been able to do is flash an odd 1.90 HardSPL that seems to have locked the phone even tighter than before. YUCK!
If you're in this same scenario, I'd suggest patience. Eventually someone with enough knowledge of these devices will be able to help out. It is frustrating though, after flashing the other phone so many times with so many different configurations to be held back on the new one.

You might find this odd. The down-volume + back arrow key combo doesn't seem to work with some of the new versions of the Diamond. I've tried on two of them, and neither respond to this key combo at startup.
Many times entering the bootloader is not a problem though. The routine does cause the phone to go there. And, I can get it there by other means. Just not via the boot up sequence. This tells me there is something very different about these models....
I tried starting and flashing directly from the bootloader (showing USB), and the phone got to show a percentage field (the one when you are flashing) but same here, is constantly at 0% until the flashing utility times out and tells me to reboot my phone and guides me through steps if it has been semi-bricked (bootloader is the volume down + softreset, right?)
I bought my phone in the first shipment to Sweden, it's not locked to any company, bought it without subscription
Else I just flashed it up to latest ROM from htc.com (still no success with HardSPL ) to 2.03.413.2 SVE (02/06/09)
Radio: 1.09.25.23
Version: 52.51.25.26H
ninjaedit: (In the four-colored bootloader thing it says DIAM100 64M SPL-2.03.0000 MicroP-Diam (LED) v11)
Tell me if you need any other info :]
Here's another indication that the new phones are different. I've copied a DIAMIMG.nbh file to both a flash card inside the phone, and to it's internal memory. (sorry, but the thread on that location is confusing on what memory. I assume like most phones of the past that it's supposed to be the flash card, but "internal memory" is not a flash card.) But, the loader screen always responds with "no image file" when it's called up. So, is there a different name expected now?
put manual hardspl into your device, and click to it from your device..

Hi uhm, was that answer aimed for me or to scottwilkins?
If it was for me, is it possible to flash the mobile directly from the memory-card (or internal flash card)? Else if you mean the "manual make-the-screen-black-and-go-to-bootloader" my screen just goes blank, as when you do it with the RUU, and just stops there. Also seems like it looses the connection via USB doing so too. And flashing through the bootloader directly (volume down at softreset) shows the progressbar on the phone, but steadily at 0% (when trying to flash).
search and download
a) SDA_ApplicationUnlock.exe (Desktopprogram)
b) EnterBootloader.exe (ATTENTION: it must be that for diamond, normaly find by flashing-tools)
connect with active sync and copy EnterBootloader.exe to pda-root.
start SDA_ApplicationUnlock.exe on desktop and follow all but reset (DONT RESET)
start EnterBootloader.exe on pda
if bootloader-Mode and USB-Label than start flashing
wait for response

I tried what you suggested, I successfully unlocked the phone (and did Not reboot it). Ran the bootloader; and the screen just went black, as usually, and nothing more happens

That program makes the Fuze screen just turn black and do nothing. Cool, huh
Seems that the newer stock ROMS might be blocking something... hmmmm....
Well, crap!
I just figure out where my whole problem is...
The Fuze (my phone) = The Raphael
NOT the Diamond.
I just scrolled down the forum list, saw a phone that looked like mine and went there. DOH!
I feel like a total dumb-ass.
If I'd scrolled just a bit farther down the XDA forum, then I'd seen the Raphael phone.
Holy Cow! Go ahead, say it, I deserve it...
Thanks for all the help otherwise. It was a learning experience for me....

hi,
i think, you have the wrong bootloader.
i find this and try it by me self. this brings your fone definitly to bootloader.
than you can start manualy the hard spl by normal description way.

Thanks, but that file takes me into the bootloader, and when I start flashing the percentage is still at 0% until the software times out. Same as before, just the usual "going-into-the-bootloader".
