To all participants in these forums:
I want convey a HUGE THANK-YOU to all of the contributers to these forums.
A couple of months ago I decided it was time to replace my IPAQ 4150 for something with a bit more functionality. As I was researching what my next device would be, I stumbled across xda-developers.com and my decision was made. I decided on the i-mate pda2k specifically becuase all of the hard work done by the people here meant that I would no longer have to wait for the vendor to issue upgrades and I could customize my device to MY requirements!
After having read most of the Blue Angel Upgrading threads, and the wiki (about 20 times) I've managed to perform a number of upgrades and cook a half-decent extended rom. (naturally I screwed it up a couple of times, and had a brick for about a week but I managed to recover after having read many of the "help-me" threads)
A special thanks to MDAIIIUser, TheLastOne, HappyGoat and a few others (you know who you are) for contributing so much of their time hacking and converting roms, troubleshooting extended rom issues and also for being so incredibly patient and helpful when answering questions from newbie's like myself.
I look forward to being a contributer to this community and I hope that I can bring 1/10th of the value to the forum that many of you bring every day.
So, once again - Thank-you to all!
.... and you didn't have to ask one question????
Fortunately, the mistakes I made were similar to those made by many before me. Most of the information I needed to repair the brick I had created was available in the threads.
Now I see that i-mate has released the 1.40 rom so I hope all of my effort and frustration wasn't for nothing!

Can you point out where, or the link to, the 1.40 rom is???
Thanks,
Tom
I think I saw someone say they were uploading it to the ftp site.
Try here.
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Blueangel/
Please let me know how it works out. I'm curious to see what's in the extended rom.
you know, I am sorry to hijack the thread somewhat, but I need to say thanks also, I did ask one question, but "search" led me to may answers, I have given a few things back to this site, but I do plan to add more, so... Thanks everyone...
You are all very welcome...I do this as a hobby, and appreciate the positive feedback..!
I just thought I'd take a moment (one previously spent fiddling with my phone) to say well done and thank you to both Tom_Codon and meschle. Which ever flavour of ROM you've decided to put on your device I'm sure you'll agree that it has breathed new life into it.
I for one feel as if I just got a new phone. I haven't soft reset since Friday (which is a shame as I do like my animated splash screens), all my apps are set up, my home screen is just the way I like it....... so what do I do now?
Congratulations guys your efforts are much appreciated and I for one look forward to finding something more constructive to do with my time than hard-resetting my phone (well for a week or two anyway).
Cheers
Matt
I totally agree with you!
It's really amazing what these guys have created.. I don't know what would make my phone better than now. It's nearly perfect, just as I need it as my constant companion.
In this way, thanks mates..
lets be careful though
.....come on guys, I know the likes of Tom and Meschle are fantastic guys - with a lot of skill....but lets not make their heads TOO big....lol
If we big them up too much HTC might hear about them and take them away from us

I think Tom and many other cooks etc are well able to beef up the skills in HTC etc, but would not last long there.
Tom likes to produce new roms every month, but will be told 'that feature you just cooked is fantastic. We can sell that as the the new feature in next years model. We dont release new features unless we can sell them with hardware'

Thanks matt - this is encouraging Lets not forget fracoon - hope you finish your rom soon your beta is very promising
Well, I only know this forum for 2 weeks, but I could say that I am really impressed of the great work done on these ROMs.
I can't imagine the amount of work it is, but for sure the result is amazing
I'd like to put my 2 pennies in as well...
Thanks guys, tom meschle, fracoon and who ever else there is... i've had my xda orbit for a while, had other xda's b4, and work with loads of xda's, but since joining this forum, my xda has hit another level...
the time and effort u guys put in, my hat goes off to u guys... ive bin trying to cook my own rom, but failed miserabley, but i'll keep trying... im sure uguys will help
thanks again guys...
I can see a new MTV show coming soon; Pimp My PPC
Bunch of Cordon Bleu chefs in the kitchen taking some sad old OEM XDA and cooking away until voila! A new pimped-up device handed over to the poor ole charity case that will be able to now proudly be seen once more down the pub with his mates (a position for me I think )
Respect Gents, you make a good product so much better
Thanks to all
I also wish to thank all the people, who make ROMs and which happen to be much better than the original one.
This forum is a knowledge base for those who owns Pocket PCs. At times it is better than the manufacturers' support pages. To those who have created the Cook ROMS, you guys has shown a thing or two of how to make a ROM stable. Keep the good work.
If i can i would give 1000 Stars to the xda forum!!!
Is is the best i personally know and i deeply hope from the bottom of my heart that out friends like tom_condon and coolgadget come back.
There are only a few people kicking at the the forum - and most of us live the right spirit of the forum!!!
I think that it is interesting to buying a htc thanks to this forum because with original roms does not work well. 1000 stars to xda. We have new phones thanks to developers of the forum.
RESPECT
I absolutely agree with macguffin.
I've had tom's bb3.7 and 4.0, and I was totaly amazed! Until I join the xda forum I had my device with slow wm5, but now THANKS TO LOCAL GUYS I have brand new Artemis - I couldn't even imagine anything like this before. Now I have Meschle's ROM(seems better for me). I'm also sad that a lot of "internet newbies"(don't know how to search and ask) comes here but heads up guys...it's everywhere. I think if we stick together we can make this forum better!
Thank to all of you here who spend your nights with pimping our devices. You show me new way of using my phone. I don't wanna call your names because I know there are a lot of members who want to share their knowledge - no matter how they are skilled.
I'm sorry for my english, it probably isn't too good to describe my feelings.

Thanks to the chefs. Also many thanks to the developers who make the tools, which make these ROM's possible, thanks to Bepe, Pof, A_C, Gullum and NNcuong to mention just a few.
i am using B&B v3 Ger - Rom on my XDA orbit
and its much better than the original wm6. i love it!
hopefully soon the ger version of 4.1 will come out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,
The Orange spv e610 or Amoi 6711 doesn't seem to be made by HTC, and this forum is all about HTC phones, so I am sorry but we won't be adding a forum for this phone.
Best regards,

Hi,
Well I did some research and I couldn't find it, thats why I replied what I replied to you earlier, if you're sure it's an HTC made phone, please supply me with a link or definitive information that proves it. That would make this faster for both of us
Best regards,
Flar

I agreed with jutley.
1st: I believe that on the device database there r some non HTC Manufactured ones.
2nd: Most devices r Windows based, there is Android OS,and there is HTC Shift that runs also Vista,ok...HTC Manufactured 4 sure. SPV E610 is a Windows Mobile. I think it would deserve a place in XDA Devs.
3th: But anyways,im just a frequent user of XDA Devs Community, wom in 2006 aquired a Windows mobile based device and went online and found www.xda-developers.com ,and there i was able 2 end all my doubts regarding most Windows Mobiles.
PS: U can find some of my work in ROM Development in XDA Devs
As I can see, there are quite a number of MWg Zinc II users over here and wish to run a cooked ROM on it. But do not know how to do so( including me). We need the help of ROM masters to help us in this. Let's do a vote. If most of us wants a cooked ROM for out MWg Zinc II, we can appeal for help from ROM masters. Let's make a vote.
help us please!
That's not going to happen here!
The Zinc II is not made by HTC, so, XDA DEV is just the wrong place for that! Trying to force a chef to 'get involved' with the Zinc II at XDA via poll won't change the rules but most likely this thread will be closed by a moderator soon ... !

i hope the rom masters are generous enough and willing to take the challenge...and not as negative as junner2003...no offense bro, but unfortunately for us LAY people, we are depending on the skills of the experts...i even got the cooked rom for my original zinc at this forum (Zinc / Mars II, by asus and not by HTC-even though many said that no one here at xda-dev would) , thanks to the many generous and talented guys here...
i agree with u, i think moderator can understand
Yah. I'm sure the moderators will be understanding. ROM masters, we really need your help. We are not forcing you, if you are unable to give us a hand due to some reasons, do let us here know. We won't blame you at all. We just want to have an answer towards our request.

It has nothing to do with me 'being negative'! That are forum rules which I did not set up myself but everyone agreed to when signing up for this forum.

thanx for ur notice
zinc ii rock solid ROM's
count me in. sun_dream perhaps? he's the best cooker!
So far, we are gathering votes slow and steady. We are not asking for a section for MWg. We just would like someone to lend us a helping hand in cooking a ROM.
I don't think anyone else is going to help...but we can collectively try to do this ourselves. I have dumped the imgfs but I cannot find out to reconstruct the directory structure. If anyone wants to know how to dump the ROM I can tell you how I did it

I'm not a technical person. I know nothing about cooking a ROM.
what are you guys talking about didnt you guys do a search, i dont have a zinc but i saw a few roms here and there, you can ask the people who made those to help you out.
and let me get this straight, the zinc is not by htc...well then who made it? i'd like to know cos some one is trying to sell me a used zinc, is it any good.
and i always say the more the merrier so i would vote for zinc development here, i don't see why we shouldn't allow allow all windows mobile devices to be supported here as long as the forums are maintained there shouldn't be any chaos.
I m using a zinc and recently flashed it to 6.1 ported by cruzz. I can say its darn good.

That's good. I used to own a O2 XDA Zinc. I ported it with cruzz's ROM and I find it very good too! But I changed to MWg Zinc II. Currently there's no way to cooked ROM for MWg Zinc II.

if u got the imgfs rom well it is a good start .... but then u have to find the way to flash back the rom & how to recompile it to the finish rom like .xxx (old zinc .abi)
what for cook since its already 6.1, dun think of 6.5 now as its not stable still
maybe you users can join with Eten M810 as its the same project from Arima
I have the Eten m800 and a Zinc ii, Plenty of roms available for the M800, none for the Zinc II
How can we get a cooked ROM for Zinc II?
Just another cat hoping we can get a 6.1 or 6.5 cooked ROM for the Zinc II. I hope the Chefs (Master Cookers) know how much they help us out here? We truly appreciate and donate as much as possible. Thank you.
Hi All,
Ive been on this site now for about a year or so and I'd just thought id like to say a big Thank you to all the amazing people here. When I first bought my Diamond I knew little about flashing new ROMs, Radios etc despite having had experience with other PDAs in the past. This site gave me the confidence, advice and support I needed to get more acquainted with my diamond and the ability to configure the device as I wanted it to perform.
Just to say to new members - do not be afraid!!! get to know your device better!!
To all the Brilliant people who cook ROMs, create software and support others, I salute you all.
