Hi
Can anyone tell me how to change the default locations for things such as pictures, album, emails etc, I want it to be on my Storage Card
Thanks
Tim
if you can it's in the registry you can access that using total commander
but it's not always a good idea since you can pull the sd card
and prgrams get mighty upset if their storage is pulled
also sd cards are disabled while the device is off so
ring tones and other storage that programs may have to access while running in the background while the device is off would fail
Registry
I have downloaded a registry tool, but what is the key for these settings?
Tim
i dont know
you can try to search this forum
or
you can try to surf the registry and look for something which fit

pls somebody should help me explain how to change the dir of my ringtone to mp3 either using my phone memory or storage card.
i have an 02 xda with processor arm sa1110, 63.20mb and version 3.0.12039
pls help somebody. the windows ringtone is really freakin me out.
Ok fella, take a deep breath. The ringtone will not hurt you, though it is a bit annoying.
If you want to set a different ring-tone copy the file you want (mp3 or WMA) to \windows\rings or \My Documents or the root of your SD card (\Storage card).
Then go to Start->Settings>Sounds and notifications.
In the list select 'Incoming call' then browse for the proper sound for that event.
It is not recommended to keep ring-tones on SD card because it is disconnected during standby so you may still get the default ring because the file is not accessible right away.
You can also assign individual ring-tones to your contacts simply by selecting the desired file in the proper field when creating or editing a contact.
re help
Thanx a lot but it's still the same.
I did all you said but still the same thing.
From the drop down box in settings/sounds & notifications/incoming call, my selected ringtone (wma or mp3) is not even showing for me to select it.
Is there something am doing wrong? Pls help
what about programs add ring tone ?
Has anyone figured out how to save email to the Storage Card in WM6? This worked in WM5:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\MAPI
AttachPath=\Storage Card\Inbox\Attachments
PropertyPath=\Storage Card\Inbox
...but doesn't work in WM6
HKLM->system->Inbox->Settings
click values
menu->new value->string
you are going to create 2 new values here the first is
value name PropertyPath
value Data \Storage Card\Mail
the second will be
value name AttachPath
value data \Storage Card\Mail\Attachments
reset you phone and you should only have the Mail folder along with the attachments folder in mail folder on your storage card
NOTE some say it may create a storage card 2 folder and some issues i have NOT yet Have had any issues
check it out
Thanks
this was a HUGE help
Thanks guys this works great.
Didnt work.
Didn't work here. Does someone have a registry import or a cab file for this?
when you are finished laughing at me, can someone please tell me where the \ is located on the keypad. I've been staring at it for 10 minutes and can't locate it.

Press the SYM/Camera button (to the right of the SPACE bar) when typing, and it'll pull up several symbols to choose from. The "\" symbol should be in there.
Thanks... Sorry for being a moron. Funny that the forward slash is on the key pad, but not the back slash. After all, this is windows, not unix.
I just used http://mobile.surrealnetworks.com/DashApps.htm IE Mail and Storage http://mobile.surrealnetworks.com/SDA applications/SurrealNetworks IE & Mail SD Storage.cab
Worked for me.

Does it work also for SMS?
And what about the existing ones?
Messaging App not opening
Hello,
I hope someone can help me with this. I have been using this Email to Storage Card app for a while, and I have experienced the "Storage Card2" problem that some people have reported. The issue I'm facing at the moment is that nothing happens when I click on "Messaging" or in the area that tells me how many messages I have. (Since this started, I haven't been receiving e-mails either.)
Is there a fix for this issue, or should I go through the dreaded hard reset? I'm having other issues which would lead me to think a hard reset is the answer, but I feel it's a big headache. I will have to backup the whole device and make sure my contacts and calendars sync, and then reload everything.
Is there a way to backup my wifi settings?
Thanks in advance for some suggestions,
Ram
Hi,
I am using the O2 rom on my Orbit. I am having an issue whereby 24 hours after soft reset I am down to 2 mb program RAM.
I am only running OxiosHibernate, Phoneweaver, batterystatus, TodayAgenda, pTravelAlarm and WMLive 6 e-mail (as items arrive).
Leaving the phone on overnight, I found that the following morning it had dropped from 13mb to 8 - without doing anything!
I have tried using x-button and setting apps to close, but this didn't help at all so I removed it. I also temporarily tried removing TodayAgenda, but this didn't help either so I reinstalled it.
Does anyone else have a similar issue?
Thanks
Dae
I think I may have tracked this down to Windows Live.
I ran the phone all day yesterday with Windows Live set to manual, instead of "when items arrive". The memory hardly dropped at all.
Not sure how to fix it, but at least I now know who is responsible.
If you have memory left, try installing Memmaid. A simple Memmaid Quickclean should resolve your problem I think.
I definitely know the cause.
Windows Live mobile on "as items arrive" - from 20mb to 2mb in 16 hours.
Windows Live mobile on "manual" - from 20mb to 16mb in 4 days!
Just don't know how to cure it! I don't like having to manually sync to get mail.
tweak the reg to store emails on your storage card.
phm regedit is a good tool for that.
you can find the edit in the wiki.

I have had a look around the wiki, but can't find the registry hack that you are referring to. Could you point me in the correct direction.
Just a point to note - it is the Program RAM which is depleating, not storage RAM. Rebooting takes it back up to full available. Deleting e-mails doesn't bring back any program RAM (which I would expect is correct, as I assume they are stored in the storage RAM).
Thanks

here is the edit you need to change the storage:
Change the location of email and attachments
When reading and sending email in Pocket Outlook, emails and their attachments are saved in the device's internal storage by default. You can change this location to, for example, your Storage Card:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\MAPI\PropertyPath = "\Storage Card\Mail" (REG_SZ string, no quotes) HKCU\Software\Microsoft\MAPI\AttachPath = "\Storage Card\Mail\Attachments" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
To return to the original location:
Just simply delete these Registry settings (since neither is included by default).
If it is the Program RAM that you are having trouble with... you should try uninstalling WLM and install another copy of it.
Try this: http://wmblack.info/addons/
Does there exist a utility that would allow one to export the T-mobile connections settings registry key(s), such that they could be imported into Kavana/Rickywats/NRG's ROMs after flashing? It would be a lot easier than having to go manually recreate the connections each time.
Ditto the My Faves settings, numbers, icons, etc that could be saved off and then flashed in the My Five app.
Just a thought.

I believe you are looking for total commander.
Total Commander, eh? I'll look into that, thanks.
After the last time I flashed the TMOB official ROM, everything has been running so fast and smooth (except for a continual reboot loop problem) that I don't want to take a chance of losing the settings when I flash again.
Thanks for your input.

1. SKTools does a much better job then Total Commander
2. Reboot loop is usually due to Memory Card. Either you have something on the memory card that is supposed to start up when WM does (like Facade or some other home screen plugin) and the device cant find it since the memory card is not always available upon start up or your card is almost full and it is taking to long to 'mount' or your card is defective
Thanks, that makes sense.
Is there any way to know which reg keys I need to export to save my wifi, MMS, etc T-mobile settings?

SKTools allows you to see the entires as you back them up. I generally just run then registry cleaner in SKTools first then make a backup. But you can find the ones you want by doing a search (ie WiFi or Connection)
http://www.htcmms.com.tw/gen/Excal-1.0.xml i found this online havent testit yet tho
Does anyone know if there is a registry edit, or anything to move the alarm, alerts, etc from its default location of the "\windows" directory and move it to the SD card as we have for Ringtones, Pictures, Videos, and My Documents? If not move the default location, point to an additional location?
I was searching the registry as best as I could but didnt find anything that points to this location, and I was wondering if I was missing it, or if there was a way to move it. It would save quite a bit of space not having to add tones to a limited amount of phone space that we have already.
bump anyone? been doing searches but cant find anything about it here or google. just about what format it has to be in.
This is the location they use if you download and install sound packs from Microsoft:
My Device \ Application data \ Sounds
It is not reliable to put ringtones and alert sounds on memory card - if the phone is in Disk Drive mode attached to the computer, the card is not accessible to the phone, so if you get a phone call during that time your phone won't be able to use your custom ringtone and it resets to using the default ringtone and you'll need to reconfigure to your choice afterwards.
But if you insist on placing them on storage card, you can place ringtones here: My Device \ Storage card \ My documents \ My ringtones
and alert sounds here: My Device \ Storage card (this also works for ringtones)
Thanx Mesquire, I am not overly worried about it defaulting back, cause it doesnt. The HTC for ring tones also looks on the memory card. I dont use disk mode so no worries there. I use to have my ringtones in the directory \storage card But I also didnt like it was messy, so I tried something that works. U can add your ringtones to \my device\storage card\my ringtones and it will pick it up and add it to the list of ringtones. You can also do this with" My Music, My Videos, and I think My Pictures, not sure of the last since all mine sit in the dcim folder.
But I will try and see if I move all the alerts to the main directory of the storage card if it will work, if it does, then it will do for now.
I just checked My Device \ Application data \ Sounds and there seems nothing there probably normal.
Yes, it is normal. My Device\Application data\Sounds is an empty folder until you start to populate it
Is there a setting to change the alarm and alert and rings location from the windows folder? Or putting them into the main sd card directory is fine? I see that Alert, Alarm, and Ring are either .wav or .wma files, would it be safe to assume that if I cut all these files and put them into the main directory of the sd card windows will see them? I know you might think I'm nuts, but there is already limited space on the phone as it is, by adding mp3's or ringtones or other media files it would in essence use up what little space is there. I already only have 171mb of space on the phone, and by computer standards I know the more files a system has to wade thru the slower it becomes.
