Is there any sort of external dock that can charge a second battery?

I was wondering if standalone desktop battery charger for Universal good in recharging batteries or if they shorten the battery life. Thanks!
As long as the minimum specs for the universal are met by your charger it should not shorten your battery's life in any way.
Me and other people across the forum have used a moto razr charger to charge our universals, good results have been achieved, i have a charging/sync craddle bough out in ebay for few euros, it's branded "just mobile", it has its own battery charger (rated at 5V, 1A) and it works fine, although many people have had problems just with this charger.
One last thing, the real battery charger circuit is inside the pda, so provided that the battery charger is normal to good quality (5V +/- 10%, 500mA to 1A), you should not have any problems.
Bear in mind however that the battery can 'sk' for up to 1A if its almost flat. This means that your charger should be able to deliver it if you want to charge your battery
Is there any difference between charging the mob(tp2) through power cord
and charging it through computer USB??
i'm always concerned about the battery life and i'm satisfied getting 2days continuous charge on my tp2,
well is there any differences or disadvantages by charging it thru USB comp, like reducing battery life or capacity or something of that sort?
or is it the same??
The wall outlet charger can give more current/power to the device than a USB port which is limited to 500mA. There shouldn't be any difference in battery life once it's fully charged, it'll just take longer to charge through USB compared to the wall charger.
Has anyone found a faster battery Charger for our phone? I bought mine from monoprice and did not work, it actually drained my battery instead of charging it.
The factory charger that came with the phone just takes wayyyyyy To long to charge. Also I'm looking for a far charger.
Thanks
Also a CAR charger. Lol
Hi,
I use my Xperia Ion (running rooted stock JB) as a navigation and dashcam unit. So naturally I want it plugged in while I have it in my car. However I have noticed a slight "bug". The way I understand how the charging works is that the phone will charge at full power (1-1.2A) until a certain point (% of battery) and then go into trickle charge mode (300 to 600mA). When using my phone the following function are in use:
Bluetooth
LCD
GPS
Camera
Wi-Fi/mobile data
Phone
This will all need power. And while the phone does seem to charge in the car if the battery is low (>50%), it will stop at 70ish %. Depending on the charger I use it will stay at 70% or start draining again. With some chargers the phone only drains power and will never charge unless I keep power use to a minimum. I.e. not use it.
I have tried many power sources. These include:
Motorola dual port charger (for Motorola Atrix car dock)
Quality brand universal USB charger
Sony Xperia charger
Laboratory power supply with different configurations on the USB data pins
(shorting D+ and D-, voltage divider 2.1V on both pins, 2.5V on one and 2.1V on the other pin) the last config offered fast charge (1A)
The Phone does not seem to be smart enough to know that it needs more power and should therefore not enter slow charging mode if the power drain is higher that the power input. I have measured the current while the phone is charging and have determined that the phone indeed does charge with high current in the beginning but then lowers the current as the battery voltage increases.
My Question is then as follows:
Do other people suffer the same problem with their phone when trying to use it a lot while charging with a car charger like me? Does the phone also discharge while "charging" with a car charger? Does the phone only charge to the certain point and then stay there or even discharge again?
And the most important question:
Is there a way to make the phone stay in full fast charge mode?

I had the same problem, I changed from Stock JB to Rogers Slim JB and calibrate the battery with this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration&hl=es
It helps somehow, but battery sometimes using the phone to much on car charger loses charge.
My note doesn't seem to be charging with my 2A car charger. It shows that it is, but loses percentage even with the screen off. The AC charger that came with the phone works great.
Anybody else have this problem?
What kind of charger do you have? I've tried two 2a Anker car chargers and they have both have charged my phone pretty fast. And also tried my 2a Anker battery has charged fast. I believe all of them use the IQ features to know how much juice they want
