How to get an unlocked Orange M1000 set up on GPRS/MMS. - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

G'day,
I've a Orange branded M1000 that's been unlocked ie works as a phone fine on Telstra. However Telstra tell me that because it's Orange branded that I need yet another code from Orange before I can set up for the net.(Orange UK not forthcoming - no Orange in Australia) I would have thought that I could set up a new connection with Telstra settings?Having read stacks of postings & seen the problems others have in general I'm hesitant to try.
So the question is, can I set up a new connection or do I need a special code from Orange? or do I run the new unlock v2.2?
ROM 1.66.00WWE
Radio 1.1000
Op verson 3.66.4.150
thanks in anticipation

no you just need to manualy setup your gprs settings
you need the access point and maybe login and password from your current cellphone companay
and add then to connections and you are ready to go

Thanks for the advice!!
Was pretty sure that was the way to go but thought I'd best check.
Again thankyou
Rob

Mixed Success m1000 orange

Hi techies
amazing forum, a bit out of my depth, heres my problem.
Got orange m1000 off ebay. worked fine phone and gprs with my Orange sim but no others.
ran unlock tool second version. Now original Orange sim won't work on anything (although sim still works in old phone) Doesn't work on O2 either. But phone does work on an old t mobile PAYG. When I try orange/ o2 sim i just get "!" next to phone signal icon.
So I am looking for any solutions from some of you awesome programmers.
Other recent attempts history;
Thought I would fix it by downloading upgrade 1.66 from orange - but that just put me on the country lock "cold sweat" serial 1.06 saga. spent several days reading forum and fixed that with W4XY himupgradeut on a imateupgrade (thanks for that), then fixed this similalry to uk orange update ext rom - wow all that extra memory.
Just need help please sorting out this signal
cheers

Vodafone V1640 UK - ROM Updates

Having already used the O2 XDA, O2 XDAII and the O2 XDAIIs I have been spoilt by O2's ROM updates via their own website.
The problem I have is that by changing to Vodafone I now have no facilities via the Vodafone website to do the same. How do you update your ROM if you have a Vodafone V1640?
Would appreciate your comments

If you love O2, you can flash the O2 ROM onto your Vodafone Device without problems.
Just use the search button on how this is done.
Thank you. I am a little concerned that the O2 ROM will erase my Vodafone settings as well as conflict with Vodafone protocols. I understand that the ROMs will have the same Microsoft Mobile 5 updates but also embedded are the phone company's unique settings and addional programs.
Do you know whether Vodafone issue ROM updates and if so how do you obtain them?
Thank you for your help and assistance
Why do you want to change the rom, (is there problems with the vodafone Rom) and what other programs are on the Vodafone Rom that you would loose.
As for settings you can enter all settings anyway into any rom as far as I know.
There is nothing wrong with the current ROM. I just want to stay up to date. New ROMs normally (and I say this tongue in cheek) have improved facilities.
The O2 site does not allow my V1640 (or in the O2 case XDA Exec) to be updated by their ROM as the IMEI does not tally up as being an O2 valid product.
I guess it's back to the drawing board for my quest.
just add the number 3 right before the .html and even if u dont have a correct imei, you can access the site of O2
Thank you. I will give that a try.
Will it erase all my Vodafone settings?
All Hard Resets / Full ROM Upgrades erase everything. I believe some roms have CAB files with operator settings. Download the Imate ROM, Install, then look for the VODAFONE .CAB file in the extended ROM, copy it to PC, then Upgrade to O2 ROM then run the CAB file that you copied to the PC

Operator + Country ID after upgrade with diffrent ROM?

Hi all!
I wanted to know what exactly happens if I upgrade my Blueangel from T-Mobile to another ROM.
The point is: if I download an original ROM from my Operator, there is "BaUpgradeUt.exe" which checks for the correct Operator an country (etc.)
Now if I use "MaUpgradeUt.exe" from this site, there is no problem to use a diffrent ROM from lets say Vodafone.
If I have flashed my T-Mobile with a Vodafone-ROM, can I later use an original (newer) Vodafone ROM with its supplied "BaUpgradeUt.exe"? That means, is my Blueangel afterwards really set to Vodafone as Operator ID and Country ID?
Thanks for your answer!
