LEGEND! Cheers.

Can anyone tell me what is the diferent betwen 1.08 and 1.09? althought I had change to 1.09 but I havent recognize any changes with my Exec

Just greater call stability. Radio upgrades affect BT, calls, and WiFi. Sorry if I'm telling you how to suck eggs here..

radio doesn't affect BT nor wifi. Sorry for that, but I was told the same on previous upgrade

well i thought that radio helped your reception when making a call.Signal strength?

Sorry for being thick but I downloaded the radio_,nbf file what do I do with it now.
The last upgrade "1.08" I did was a nice easy one just plug in and clicked the exe file.
Cheers with any help

I installed teh update without any problem om my qtek9000.
Everything works fine. The first thing i noticed is that now i have an UMTS connction inside. Until now qtek switched back to GPRS mode inside my house. (but perhaps they just installed a new UMTS broadcasting point)

Skillie, thanks for the recomendation on going for the whole ROM. I apologize in advance for perhaps this being a basic question, but could you explain this answer just a bit more? What version of ROM are you referring to? Where is it avail? etc... You mention improvements, I'm interested...
Also, like the other post, I am confused by what to do now that I have the 1.09 file. Unlike the other post, I did not have a 1.08 exe, so I have nothing to re-execute.
My thanks to anyone who can break this down just a little more for us.

I placed the file in the folder of my exe, but I get an Error 120 message...
The 1.06 Radio was great with no errors... I tried reseting and executing the exe again, but I still get the Error Wrong Country Code. Now what?

updated and testing.......thanks

Since there are soo many improvements. Please do explain what kind of improvements are made.I saw on this page a few posts up that the UMTS connection is being used as an access point now.Is that in the United States as well??

FWIW - 1.09 seems to have the best sensitivity of the Radio Roms I've tried (O2 standard, 1.06, and 1.08) since it's revealed that I have 3G in my area that has never shown up before...
Cheers,
Steve.

Using radio ver 1.06 as a base line, ver 1.08 drained quickly. Ver 1.09 seems to have returned my battery life back to or better than what I could get out of ver 1.06.
I agree that sensitivity appears better, too.

I agree, radio version 1.09.00 works better than radio version 1.06.00 as far as reception is concerned. So far I am happy with it. Still have to observe more though. I only had it for a day.

Where/how do I do this?
OK - just got the MDA and want to do this update. I have done pror to this with the Radio - so how or where do I put this to complete the upgrade/update.
Any help is appreciated!

Hi. Will these work on an O2 XDA IIi (English) ?
I need to upgrade mine to see if I can make the bluetooth work better, its very crackly with the default rom (from the o2 website I am using)
Merlin
I can't download past 32.5MB...tried twice now.
Anyone else had similar problems?
Ant
What rom is this? WM5? Dont think so. So why would they release an older rom ???
hi
this is just 2003SE rom .. but an updated one.. i find it more stable and gsm signals are stronger ....
havent tried bluetooth yet but the it seems to have the same version as xda2i rom .. however the quality of BT is often related to the radio rom aswell which in this pda2 rom is of higher build..
go ahead try the rom and share your experiences here
Installed it on my O2 XDA IIi. All went well and it looks like its fine.
Will post any observations later...
M
yeah its been a whole day that ive ran the new rom.. i havent had a single hang on the device...
though there is one thing that bothers me... this rom and ext rom doesnt have a antivirus that the retail pda2 had when i saw it in the shop...
could it be that our pd2 rom donwloaded from the clubimate site is different than the one on retail models...
may be crazzy can tell us whether his retail pda2 has that antivirus app or not.. if so is it in the ce rom or ext rom (his extended rom posted on xda ftp doesnt have it)
will this work on a sx66?
hakushox, the SX66 is a BLUE ANGEL, not an Alpine.

Ant
Installed, working fine so far.
Looks to have improved the Auto camera setting as well, it actually adjusts now and doesn't look dark in all conditions!
Ant
hi
yeah the first time the utility gets you into bootloader mode and gives the error ... the second time (without disconnecting the device) running the utility is succesful...
what you have to do before that is... run the pda2 rom intact then look for the *.nbf files in the temp folder.. copy everything in that folder to another folder of your liking.. copy the mdaupgrade_no id utility to that same folder and run twice from there
All still working fine, except for a slight issue with viewing pictures.
I click on a jpg image, "Album" appears at the top of the screen as though it's just taking a short while to run, then soft resets.
Anyone else?
Ant
no that album thingie is fine with me.. still no prob..
Well ive tried to download this a few times now and i cannot seem to complete the download
Im interested to see if this update is any good.

hmmm, im not sure, cant remember but i think that settings will be saved!
I have a Jasjar, which was running:
ROM version 1.13.53 WWE
Radio version 1.03.01
ExtROM version 1.13.137 WWE
I ran the radio-only upgrade, which errored the first time but ran without problem the second time. After a soft reset, I now have:
ROM version 1.13.53 WWE
Radio version 1.04.02
ExtROM version 1.13.137 WWE
All my settings/hacks were retained and no information was lost. The radio appears to be stable.
Hi, Sorry... im posting a newbie question... please ignore if "beneath" you...
Im confused on the "radio" upgrade thing. I mean, is this really the radio that we know of (FM/AM)? Why the need for upgrade? How do i make the radio work then?
Laugh all you want, read all your posts and i still dont get it.
The "radio" portion of the Jasjar is the phone/gprs componentry. The rest of the Jasjar is the PDA componentry. Because, theoretically at least, WM5 products can be PDA-only and because the radio portion of WM5 products can vary widely (differing standards for various parts of the world), the firmware is released in two parts: the base operating system for the PDA and the radio subsystem addition for the phone/gprs functions. This explanation is somewhat broad, and not 100% accurate, but hopefully provides some clarification.
can i use this to update my orange spv m5000? or is there another version for it..\
cheers
ok i've tried several times now and its not working.....

Thanks for the explanation.. that was tech101 for me I get it now.. It's the "phone" part then.. upgrading the radio might have something to do with connecting wifi, bt etc... and i really though i could tune in to my favorite radio station.. haha
Thanks a heap!

You are welcome. BTW, something like this http://www.dealsonic.com/csdsedifmstr.html would add AM-FM capability to a Jasjar if WM5 drivers are available. Note though that it would seriously truncate battery life.
FYI, the SD-Radio is the older model.
Take a look at the sleeker SD-Radio2...

Benefit of Radio 1.04 over 1.03?
Just got my i-mate jasjar. Wondering about upgrades but it seems to work and if it aint broke, dont fix it!!
For those who have flashed from 1.03 to 1.04, what improvements were there?
Thanx
I just updated my 1.03.00 to 1.04.10 on my Qtek 9000
The biggest improvement is the time from hitting the 'pick-up' button to the connection being established. On the older version, this took about 5-7 seconds.... on new version, this happens instantly.
Maybe it's just me, but i think the sound quality of the phonecall is improved too.
Post deleted as I managed to upgrade the radio stack successfully to 1.04.10
cheers guys

New WM5?

ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/BLueAngel/XDAIIshangman
I put this on the BA upload FTP today, MDA could you have a look at it?
Here is what came in the description
Instructions for upgrading your ROM
to WM 5 Build 14343
At this point, there is 1 BlueAngel WM5 English Roms available: Version
5.1.1700 Build 14343
This is a BA GSM rom and will only work on PH20B / PH20B1 devices.
And it cant be made, fixed, edited or reworked to work on any other device
You need Windows XP and SP2 to make ActiveSync 4 work! SP2 is available free
of charge at any PC World computer superstore or direct from Microsoft.com
Flashing your device can turn it into a Paper Weight, this is your own risk
Flashing a Rom which is not from your carrier will void the warranty
The Partion Tool resets your Exteneded rom Password and you Will not be able to
lock you EXT Rom if you revert back to CE2003
I have not tried it out yet. The way I put it in there is in sort of a package form, the file rarsave has the original rar files in it and the folders are the unpacked versions.
Any comments or results would be grately apreciated.
Ok, I upgraded to this ROM, from what I can tell it is the most straight up almost factory version of WM5 I have seen, It is fast and solid.
The only thing missing is the Blackberry software, Enterprise or web. If anyone knows where to get that I would be a happy camper. Can you get this software in a CAB form?
When you click on IE for the first time it even says OEM version!!!
No branding at all.
are you sure this isn't the one which we have tried before?
Where did you get this rom ?
I think it is the first WM5 rom for BA, PDA2k_2k5.rar but I will see after reflash
There is no point to upgade to this rom i am right and this is the first one the same as this one
There are far better roms in the ftp than this one

New Unversal ROM T-Mobile Germany with AKU2

T-Mobile Germany has released a new ROM (AKU2-Update). I Have Uploaded it to the ftp-Server (Filename: TMOB_DEU_pro_aku2.0_05-2006.zip).
Works fine with my MDA Pro. AKU2 works with Exchange and the speed (I think) its faster.
I have no problems.
ROM Version: 1.30.113 GER
ROM Datum: 04/13/2006
Radio Version: 1.10.03
Protokoll-version: 42.44.P8
ExtRom-version: 1.30.223 GER
The spec's look good,
Do you know if I can have this on my English T-Mobile Pro? Will I be able to set the language to English? Will I still be able to have QWERT*Y*UIP along the top, or is the Y moved?.
Cheers!!
Thank you so much, for this hint. Just downloading it. Do you know if A2DP is included in this Image?
Yes, it supports A2DP .... I have tested it!
BE CAREFUL - NEW BOOTLOADER
If you are waiting for an unlocking solution, DO NOT DO THIS UPGRADE. It contains a new version of the Universal Bootloader, which could make unlocking in the future impossible.

No, the Roms normally only contain one language at a time. Unfortunately you have to wait for the english one to be released. But once the german one is released, all other language versions should come very shortly.
skip bootloader-upgrade
I wonder whether it is possible to skip the bootloader-upgrade (bl.nbf) and just load the OS & EXTROM.
Anyone have an idea if this will harm the operation/stability of the device?
skip bootloader-upgrade
I installed it without upgrading the BL, no Probs!

The new ROM looks fine but
- how do I get back the Wireless-Tab on Today-Screen
- how do I get back the original (green and blue) DialPad-Skin
- can I reconfigure the T-Mobile Today-PlugIn

With German Windows XP:
c:\dokumente und einstellungen\BENUTZER\lokale einstellungen\temp\pftxx.tmp\UNI_TMDE_130113_130223_11003_GER_Ship.exe
"Benutzer" is the Account you are logged in

Definietely not. T-Mobile says on the download page (in German) that an AKU2 upgrade which is compatible with BB will be out in July.
Sorry & Greetings,
Andreas
Hello there,
installed the update 2 days ago - everything was working fine, surfing around, testing A2DP, WLAN, etc.
...but since yesterday i can not connect to the internet aymore.
It dials in via UMTS/GPRS, connects but nothing more. MyIpConfig.exe says:
Adapter Address: 00:00:00:00:00:00
IP Address: 172.21.30.136
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway: 172.21.30.136 <-?? the device itself is the default gateway??
DNS-Servers: 193.254.160.130
193.254.160.1
...rest is empty

Has anyone from germany a clou why/if these settings are incorrect? Anyone else the same problem?
Can someone not using aku2 post his network-settings when dialed in?
I tried reinstalling update and resetting device several times, when updating setup leaves information about currently installed versions of radio, ce and rom empty...is this the usual way?
«edit»
got it now working. The Problem was the germen resellerdebitel, who changed the dns-IP. Very kind of them don't telling anyone about the changes.
I just unlocked my Universal and now I'd like to upgrade my rom to the new T-Mobile rom because mine is from August last year. So my question is: will the phone still be unlocked after the reflash - if not can I reunlock it?

Ever the adventurous, I flashed with Ivan's AKU 3.2 ROM and MvRTrue VGA and, I think, everything was working fine. Going a step further I then flashed the Radion from 1.09 to 1.13.
Now I do not seem to be able to receive SMS.
I thought for a while that I had cooked the Sim because I stupidly left it in during the Radio upgrade. But I have now changed the Sim and the same problem persists.
The problem could be 1.13 OR the combination of 1.13 and AKU3.2 OR something else (ie hardware problem) but, in the latter case the coincidence of it occuring at the same time as the ROM upgrades makes me think it unlikely.
I am just flashing back to Radio 1.09 to see if that cures the problem.
Has anyone else seen a similar problem and got any other suggestions?

i have radio 1.13 on QTEK ROM. i am recieving SMS messages fine since the upgrade last week.
Bak on Radio 1.09 and SMS working
Update - Have just flashed back to 1.09 and SMS working OK. So can only conclude that it is 1.13 problem (perhaps just incompatibility with O2??) or incompatibility between 1.13 and O2 SMS Plus app which I use for SMS messaging. Will do further tests - but tomorrow. In the meantime would welcome others' experiences.

Works fine with T-Mobile Germany
UMTS reception got better (in my room, UMTS from no availability to 2/5, GSM unchanged 4/5)
i'd have to say this seems to be the best overall package i've used (was previously running my own mix of qtek with radio 1.11 and orange ext rom) really fast and no dropped calls as yet. reception much the same but reasonable.
