How to activesync by WiFi

Hello,
I can easyly syncronize with USB or Bluetooth.
I've set a WiFi connection to my ADSL router, it works fine, I can scan the LAN (with ScanIP) and see my PC, but no way to sync...
Though Active Sync 3.8 is installed.
Some of you succeeded, what's the magic ? ? ?
Thanks for sharing,
Jean-Jacques

Cool link, added to my Favorites, thnks for shareing that with us
Superb
Excellent, if only everything was explained like this, keep it up!!!!
It was already here...
I had actually found it on this forum a few months ago...
But since I had put it into my favourites I figured it would have taken me about the same time to give it you than to tell you "go and and look for it"!
Glad it helped.

I struggled with this for awhile and could not get it working. The issue was I had was in the PC WINS setting I had left the LMHOSTS Lookup enabled. As soon as I unchecked that and had the Netbios tab checked it synced up. Thanks for the link. Now I can wifi sync.
another gotcha
I read every thread I could find on several forums regarding activesync via wifi and yet I could not get it to work. Then I finally read on a thread that the PPC network card "My network card connects to:"should be set to connect to WORK not The INTERNET. I changed that one setting and bingo, activesync instantly connected via wifi (I already had a partnership created while connected via USB). Of course to have the PPC connect to the Internet via wifi, you have to set it back but that is easy enough to accomplish.

On my SX66, I don't have to change back to "the Internet" to surf; I just leave it set to "Work".
New problem...activesync connects but
Well, I had everything working, now I have a new issue. I can successfully sync via usb and BT connects. When turn off BT and then tell activesync running on the BA to sync, activesync on both the PC and the BA indicate that they are connected (as BT is off and the BA is out of the cradle, it is obvious that they are connected via WiFi at this point). Then the "looking for changes" meter starts advancing and when it gets about 1/3 of the way finished, it just stops. Both the PC and the BA still show connected and activesync still indicates that it is trying. After several minutes of the no more progress, the PC side activesync indicates that there was a synchronization error.
Any ideas. I have uninstalled activesync 3.8 and reinstalled. I have run the outlook repair utility just in case there was something weird with my outlook pst file (it was clean).
Thanks
David
I have this problem too - I find if i soft reset the unit (and sometimes my computer too) then it works fine. anyone got any ideas?
Tried the soft reset ....
I tried the soft reset on the PPC as well as rebooting the PC and still activesync stops progressing during the sync process about 1/3 of the way thru and eventually reports the synchronization error. I have noted that during BT or usb syncing, the process pauses at the same place for just a split second and then zooms thru the remaining 2/3s of the process. It is like activesync is waiting for somekind of a handshake or acknowledgement from the PPC. I hope someone can shed some light on this.

Have you tried turning off synchronise 'Files' in the activesync options? sometimes funny files can cause this problem?
Only syncing...
The only things I am trying to sync are my contacts, tasks and calendar. I even tried unchecking even those items so that I was essentially NOT syncing anything but activesync via WiFi still stalls at about 1/3 complete. As I did have WiFi/ActiveSync working for a day or so with NO issues and nothing has changed (or I guess I should say, I changed nothing), this is a real mystery.

VPN: please help!

Ok, this is driving me nuts. I cannot perform a VPN connection using WIFI, but it works fine with GPRS. So, the VPN server is fine.
Whenever I do an activesync, or click the link to connect my VPN server... it says "Connecting to <VPN server>"... and then after a few seconds, nothing! No error message.
Am I missing something here? How can I troubleshoot this problem?
I am using Pocket PC 2003
Fixed it!
Ok, so I was wrong: there is no error message because it does connect to the VPN server - except that it disconnects after 2 seconds.
I was using the latest T-Mobile ROM 1.42, and so I downgraded to Orange 1.40: same problem... and finally... back to... 1.31!
And it works! The VPN is stable, and works as expected.
Has anyone been able to use a VPN connection using ROM 1.40 or 1.42?

Help: ActiveSync cannot connect

Dear Friends,
Need your help.
I am trying to connect my TyTn with newly bought Tablet PC HP-TC1100.
Everything was happening well with my old IBM Laptop. But with the new tablet pc, the active sync is not establishing partnership.
When I connect the device, the active sync icon goes green and spins.
But after a minute or so it says "ActivSync cannot connect to the windows mobile powered device".
I did gone through many forums & microsoft web pages..for about 2 days...but no help.
I reinstalled active sync in my pc...hardreset the TyTn...disabled firewall...uninstalled Norton anti-virus & live update.
But nothing works.
I believe this group has gone through so many known problems and found successful solutions.
I have Windows Mobile 6, XDA Live 2 in my TyTn.
Appreciate your help.

Try uncheck 'Enable advanced network functionality" in the USB->PC connection setting . That should work - as reported by others when using WM6. Cheers

This has solved it for me in the past with WM6. Did this solve it for you?
Tons of Thanks to pl55
I Love xda-developers forum for this!!
The solution from pl55 has solved my 2 days issue of connecting my PC and TyTn.
I am grateful to you pl55!
Thanks again,
Ari
Does someone know how to solve the Error "Failed to disable RNDIS to Seriel"?
It occurs when i try to uncheck the USB Advanced Network Functionality.
Edit:
I'm using XP and the XDA Live 0.2 Rom.
Edit2:
I got it. I turned off the TyTn, plugged the USB in and then turned the TyTn on.
Now the Active Sync connection works again.

Strange error - wifi down when I connect Orbit

Urm, really odd error
Wifi goes down, completely -other pcs cannot see my wireless router- when I sync my WM6 orbit.
This is reproduce-able, every time I connect the Orbit to the laptop. But if I turn off Wifi on the laptop & then sync, no problem -the router is visible to all.
Is this wierd or what??? Any ideas people?
Joe

How stable is your internet sharing? any tweak?

Hi,
i got two problems using internet sharing:-
1) i use my pda to online via internet sharing. The strange problem that i found out is, whenever it shows "waiting for network" at internet sharing, i cannot browse internet via my pc but i can browse at my pda.
2) And second problem i experienced is, after i softreset my pda, if there is sms coming in, i cannot run "internet sharing". i need to softreset again. strange? any solution for problem 1.
I thought the "waiting for network" will only appear whenever there are a lot of ppl using the same network but...today i wake up early in the morning about 3-4am, the message appears too.
Hi,
I found the solution by using activesync toggle. Now, everything smooth.
TQ
