At times whenever I try to use Activesync with my Exchange 2003 Server, I will get a sync failed error under the section listed as Synchronize with Exchange Server. The error I get is CONNMGR_33.
Whenever I get this error message, I have to perform a soft reset before I can get my Exchange Server synchronization to occur again.
I do not know what the error code means. It seems (no empirical evidence) that whenever I fail to connect to T-Mobile, for whatever reason, I get the error code, and then must soft reset.
The problem happens intermittently. It will occur regularly every night for weeks, then "miraculously" work every day for 5 or 6 days, then revert back to an intermittent basis, primarily late in the evenings.
This problem does not happen when I put my SIM back into my HP 6315 and synchronize. In other words, I think I have ruled out my T-Mobile account, the local service, time of day, local Exchange server issues, etc. and narrowed the problem down to the iMate PDA2K.
Why do I have to perform a soft reset when the error occurs? And, any idea why this is happening? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Noone seems to have a solution for this so far:
What happens every other day I sync is, after a long sync time with Outlook2003 on WinXPsp2, ActiveSync 4.5 shows a msg indicating a sync error (10 min or more), and a while later on the HTC there'll be a message saying that due to changes to Outlook, need to do complete resync.
AS4.5 shows Connected and Windows PC: Attention required. On the PDA, it shows Sync date and time with Attention required at the bottom of the screen.
Ok, when I click on Attention required a window pops up "There has been a change made on your server that requires you to re-sync all items on your device....."
Support code: 80883001
And every once in a while, I belive it tries to resync. When this happens, my PDA will sound an alert and there'll a message on the PDA with Yes and No options. The message is similar "There has been a change made on your server that requires re-sync..." But it also says all changes made will be lost.
On the PC, it will show synchonising.
All data are back again after this sync, but you have to reconfigure all Touch-contacts and HTC-home-contacts and all last calls do not show the referring contact anymore.
This seems to be a WM6-Problem, not only Artemis, but I don't know where else to post.
Same problem on a HTC Kaiser (TyTN II). Weird.... Annoying as it requires all my voicetags to be re-recorded and the HTCHome quick dial icons to be reprogrammed.
R
I have the same problem in my kaiser. I will try the "always open ActiveSync" workaround that I found in the following URLhttps://forums.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/showpost.aspx?pageindex=4&siteid=65&postid=2384890&sb=0&d=1&at=7&ft=11&tf=0&pageid=1
Hope it works.... If anyone else knows a workaround please post a solution
Did anybody found a workaround for this problem. I believe this is a problem special to WM 6.0 , do you think this is the case? Thx

This really seems to be the ONLY solution so far - I've had the same problem with B&B 4.3 and before.
the Sync lasted for more than 10 min most of the times.
since I have Bepes 0.53 with Pagepool 6 MB - it works just fine! Sync in 1 min!
Error code 80883001
The same is happening with my O2 branded Kaiser. Seems to only do it when I've been running Sat Nav (Co-Pilot) - that might be a coincidence though
related to Sat Nav?
I returned Co-Pilot and the problem never re-occurred until today! I can narrow it down to the a freeby download that offers to sync the clock on the PDA with Sat-time. Can't remember the name as I've now taken it off. Not sure whether the two events are related, but I'm determined to narrow it down and iy just seems a spooky coincidence that the problem only came back when I installed the freeby... (Co-Pilot, I seemed to recall had an option to sync the clocks too)
i have no co pilot or some other syncing clock...
i have a diamond touch 2 and the same prob and NO workaround
i did read, not to sync email subfolder, i do not sync any email right now, error is still there.
what to do?
80883001 error
I am having same problem - when I try to sync files I get attn required. then about 1 day later I lose all changes since last sync. Any clues?
Thanks

help please, this is driving me nuts!
Synch problem
OK ...
Finally posting on this problem - hoping others have experienced it and can help with a solution. I have a T-Mobile Dash WM6.1 (though this problem happened with WM 5 and 6), synching to a Vista Machine (Windows Mobile Device Center). This has happened on multiple machines/setups and different Dashes.
Every so often (maybe twice a week), when I synch - I get the dreaded little red-x in the corner of the "synch center" icon in the task bar, indicating a problem. Activesynch in my dash says Attention Required: "There has been a change made on your server that requires you to re-synchronize all items on your device ..."
Ugh. First - this takes a long time. Second - I lose my speed-dial and voice tags for my contacts. All a pain in the a**.
For months, I have been trying to figure out the rhyme or reason for this. It's happened with freshly booted PC and Dash. It's happened when nothing significant has occured (changes, disruptions) ... I've tried different bluetooth ports, wires (trying anything)
The closest thing I can think of is that it happens when I modify a contact, but I am grasping at straws.
Has anyone experienced this, and is there a solution?
Thanks!
Been there...
I've had that kind of problem when I tried to sync my outlook e-mails into my device, tried lots of things ("disable advanced USB connection" is one of the most famous suggestions) but what ultimately work for me was giving up on syncing my outlook e-mails and having my pop mail accounts setup on the device and downloading them every so often to keep it up to date with my outlook...
Anyways, try googleing for the error number or the phrase you get in the error box between "". But don't get your hopes too high tough: the problem is well documented and very spoken of but M$ doesn't seem to care much about it to come up with a solution (not even an official response, if my recollection is not mistaken).
Well, good luck and cheers.
Well, Synching outlook emails is the lowest of my priorities. Synching appointments, tasks and contacts are more important. Thanks anyway.
Thanks for your suggestion that I try to use google to find the error message. I never thought of that. Google. Are they a new startup?
; )

Can someone tell me if I need to install this fix? or if it may mess up my phone?
I was reading http://blogs.msdn.com/outlook_mobile/archive/2008/11/12/wm-6-1-smtp-fix-released.aspx this week while my phone was not working. I think my problem was from google gears, but I have no idea, am back to a clean phone and am avoiding installing things I don't really need.
After several days of trying I was finally able to get my phone to reset it's data using the two softkeys and power on reset method.
I'm happily running the Kavana ROM, and connected to three email sources. Hotmail, Gmail via IMAP, and an exchange server.
My reading of the issue that is fixed refers to setting by the carriers, and I'm not using any email through my cellular carrier.
Hello all!
I recieved a brand new HTC Touch Pro 2 today, and was very excited to have finally got it! However, since getting it - 12 hours ago - I have been trying and failing to set up the e-mail side of things. I use both a normal googlemail account, a POP account through outlook, and three accounts that use google aps (mail) as a host. I have followed this to the 't':
https://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=78886
But still no joy on any of the accounts except the bog standard '@[email protected] account. The phone keeps asking for my password, which I know is correct.
Anyone else have the same problems/have any ideas how to resolve this? Before I throw it against the wall! :-(
Hi
I'm having the exact same problem getting my hotmail account to work. I have a vodafone uk branded phone which I bought on eay but I'm using an O2 sim. I've managed to get everything else working but not the email. It's very depressing. It was dead easy on my trusty Xperia.
Thanks for any help...
e-mails not forwarding
Can anyone shed any light on this?
I don't know if this will help, but for your username try putting "username"@gmail.com instead of just your username. That is what I've had to do in the past and it works fine.
My issue at the moment is i have entered all the details correctly but when i try to do a send receive it says "error synchronising" and then popups up a box which says "Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your connection settings, tab settings". Which i have no clue about because its taking me into all the TMobile data connection stuff.
I get this no matter what connection i setup. But the strange thing is when i very first did it, it worked. Every time since then has failed though.
Tried calling T-Mobile or HTC? I don't know if they could help you.
Mine is working with IMAP gmail

Two things I found.
1. Go to Settings, All Settings, Connections Tab, Connections Icon, Advanced, Select Networks. Top box should be set to T-Mobile Internet.
2. Press Edit (Just under the top drop-down), Proxy Settings. I found the default ROM (UK) was set to 149.254.201.132 - not sure if this is a hard coded ROM error, or a Network wizard setup error - either way, untick the "This network uses a proxy server...."
If this was ticked, all should be OK now.
If not, then do call T-Mobile Tech Support.
Good luck !
I had the same problem on my TP2, unbranded byon T-Mobile. Unticking the "This network uses a proxy server" box solved the problem. I had the same problem with my old TyTn2 as well.
Remenber, if you hard reset you will probably have to do this again!! Hopefully this will solve your problem.
I had the same problem with the exact same error message on my 1and1 email account. I found that when usines imap 1and1 block port 25 (to prevent spam) so when setting up the outgoing server address I had to specify another port (got that from 1and1's FAQ's where its buried and simply says that sometimes port 25 is blocked and if it is try using port xxx (can't remember which one). Anyway that worked straight away for me. Unfortunatley Winmob's error messages are pretty useless so good luck in isolating why the problem has occurred - took me two days to work it out.
Cheers
Barney
I have since been able to get my @ntlworld email on my sgs2 but a friend of mine cannot get hers on her DHD ive followed exactly the same steps. Im getting username/PW fails but I can log onto the virgin site and access mail fine! Anyone else had this behaviour?
Does your email provider limit your logins? I had one provider limiting logins from third party apps to one or two every 15 minutes. The default mail app on my HTC checked each setup step and so it tried to log in 3 times in 15 minutes - resulting in an account/password error. The solution would be to setup the account, ignore all errors and check again after 15-20 minutes.
You could also try to use another secured login method. I had login errors due to failing ssl logins a few times. Switching to TLS, or switching it off completely (not recommended) did help me those times.
