Every product as versatile as the MDA Pro, deserves it's own comunity. As it's a ground-breaking device and sports a brand new operating system, there are likely to be numerous teething problems.
There are few good sources of information available for the mda pro at present, the best of which being this one. Despite containing everything you could need to know, I found it very difficult for a novice to find info quickly.
Whilst waiting for my phone to arrive, I bought the website www.mdapro.uk , I've set up a forum there, for beginners like my self, to get the full potential out of there phone / mini laptop / PDA ....
I've produced this site as I'm the proud owner of a new MDA Pro and I'm sure I can use it for more than browsing the net on the Loo. There's an obvious need for a site dedicated to the MDA Pro and I hope www.mdapro.co.uk will be helpfull to a lot of people.
www.mdapro.co.uk is for anyone who owns or is thinking of purchasing an I-mate Jasjar / MDA Pro / XDA Exec / HTC Universal or any of it's other guises.
Please join my forum and help to build a community. There's power in numbers and together we can overcome any problems each of us may have. Together we can make the proposition of upgrading to a PDA as simple and pain-free as possible.
Thanks

Tip - get some proper hosting (add-free stuff), and sort the formatting on teh front page out :/ - one slim column of text on the left with adds on teh right and nothing in teh middle.
Its a good idea though, and could probably have been integrated here somehow, providing the admins have the time and inclination to do it.
Thanks for tips!
The big blank bit in the middle is gonna contain a general phone overview, (When I get chance to write it). I've only really been concentrating on getting the forum up and running, which I think is all set up correctly now.
My hosting company seem pretty efficient so far. They were chosen on cost alone. If I get enough members to quantify upgrading, I will search for better hosting. While there's only a handfull of members, my £20 per year hosting should do just fine. At least for now.
If there's anything anyone would like including on the site, I'm more than happy to listen. Likewise to any advice or criticism.
I think making sure you and XDA Devs don't cross the same ground is important, so making sure somehow your site is providing a specific and different service.
Also, I would put a big obvious link back to XDA Devs as a courtesy.
Best of luck.
Joe
Thanks Joe,
I dont want to step on anyones toes, here. I intend my site to be specific to one phone, aimed at begginers and prospective upgraders.
Xda developers is a fantastic source of info for all levels. Its only downfall is that it is difficult for beginners, such as myself, to navigate. I want my site to fill the gap for beginners. I only really want to to include tried and tested methods on my site, rather than experimental material. I will link to xda developers for more advanced users and further reading.
I'm more than happy to include links to this site anywhere it may be relevant.
Sank5!
Just registered on your forum...
Hope it will be a success... at least I am there for you
hee i am one off the newest member i hope to learn a lot overthere.
This is my first pda ,mda so i wil putt my newbie questions there thanks anyway 8)
Thanks for your support
Thanks to everyone who's joined my forum. The sites almost completely functional now, if lacking a bit in content. We currently have a massive 20 users!
Now you've all had your MDA Pro's for a while, I'd appreciate it if you shared your experiences with us. I've been too busy with work and the site to have a good play with my phone, but I intend that to change very soon any hints / advice would be more than welcome.
Does anyone know how to capture a screen shot on the MDA Pro or run a macromedia flash movie as I am getting desperate for both.
Thanks

For Flash, not really sure, but check out a thread on benchmarking the Uni. You can cross reference by searching by my username and vjsihaya.

I have a QTEK 9000. Does this mean i cannot join?
I just tried to access it now but "Cannot find server" came out.
Edited:
It's ok now, seems one ofr the links above says www.msdapro.uk when clicked
@sank5
I use Resco PhotoViewer on my device. It comes with a Screen Capture "add on" which works perfect for me.
Some "always on top" window will be opened in the middle including the button to make the shot (which can be delayed by 10 seconds if You like).
You can browse through all programs to prepare the screen as You need it before taking the shot, nicely working for me.

Ruud

Got Flash Working Now, thanks to 'findus'. You can download it here:-

Works well, but much slower than the desktop version. I'm off to checkout MagicSS and Resco PhotoViewer.
Thanks Again

I just thought I'd take a moment (one previously spent fiddling with my phone) to say well done and thank you to both Tom_Codon and meschle. Which ever flavour of ROM you've decided to put on your device I'm sure you'll agree that it has breathed new life into it.
I for one feel as if I just got a new phone. I haven't soft reset since Friday (which is a shame as I do like my animated splash screens), all my apps are set up, my home screen is just the way I like it....... so what do I do now?
Congratulations guys your efforts are much appreciated and I for one look forward to finding something more constructive to do with my time than hard-resetting my phone (well for a week or two anyway).
Cheers
Matt
I totally agree with you!
It's really amazing what these guys have created.. I don't know what would make my phone better than now. It's nearly perfect, just as I need it as my constant companion.
In this way, thanks mates..
lets be careful though
.....come on guys, I know the likes of Tom and Meschle are fantastic guys - with a lot of skill....but lets not make their heads TOO big....lol
If we big them up too much HTC might hear about them and take them away from us

I think Tom and many other cooks etc are well able to beef up the skills in HTC etc, but would not last long there.
Tom likes to produce new roms every month, but will be told 'that feature you just cooked is fantastic. We can sell that as the the new feature in next years model. We dont release new features unless we can sell them with hardware'

Thanks matt - this is encouraging Lets not forget fracoon - hope you finish your rom soon your beta is very promising
Well, I only know this forum for 2 weeks, but I could say that I am really impressed of the great work done on these ROMs.
I can't imagine the amount of work it is, but for sure the result is amazing
I'd like to put my 2 pennies in as well...
Thanks guys, tom meschle, fracoon and who ever else there is... i've had my xda orbit for a while, had other xda's b4, and work with loads of xda's, but since joining this forum, my xda has hit another level...
the time and effort u guys put in, my hat goes off to u guys... ive bin trying to cook my own rom, but failed miserabley, but i'll keep trying... im sure uguys will help
thanks again guys...
I can see a new MTV show coming soon; Pimp My PPC
Bunch of Cordon Bleu chefs in the kitchen taking some sad old OEM XDA and cooking away until voila! A new pimped-up device handed over to the poor ole charity case that will be able to now proudly be seen once more down the pub with his mates (a position for me I think )
Respect Gents, you make a good product so much better
Thanks to all
I also wish to thank all the people, who make ROMs and which happen to be much better than the original one.
This forum is a knowledge base for those who owns Pocket PCs. At times it is better than the manufacturers' support pages. To those who have created the Cook ROMS, you guys has shown a thing or two of how to make a ROM stable. Keep the good work.
If i can i would give 1000 Stars to the xda forum!!!
Is is the best i personally know and i deeply hope from the bottom of my heart that out friends like tom_condon and coolgadget come back.
There are only a few people kicking at the the forum - and most of us live the right spirit of the forum!!!
I think that it is interesting to buying a htc thanks to this forum because with original roms does not work well. 1000 stars to xda. We have new phones thanks to developers of the forum.
RESPECT
I absolutely agree with macguffin.
I've had tom's bb3.7 and 4.0, and I was totaly amazed! Until I join the xda forum I had my device with slow wm5, but now THANKS TO LOCAL GUYS I have brand new Artemis - I couldn't even imagine anything like this before. Now I have Meschle's ROM(seems better for me). I'm also sad that a lot of "internet newbies"(don't know how to search and ask) comes here but heads up guys...it's everywhere. I think if we stick together we can make this forum better!
Thank to all of you here who spend your nights with pimping our devices. You show me new way of using my phone. I don't wanna call your names because I know there are a lot of members who want to share their knowledge - no matter how they are skilled.
I'm sorry for my english, it probably isn't too good to describe my feelings.

Thanks to the chefs. Also many thanks to the developers who make the tools, which make these ROM's possible, thanks to Bepe, Pof, A_C, Gullum and NNcuong to mention just a few.
i am using B&B v3 Ger - Rom on my XDA orbit
and its much better than the original wm6. i love it!
hopefully soon the ger version of 4.1 will come out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Huge thanks to the admins for listening to our voices!
Let's hope for a stronger development for our WFS from now on.
Here we come steaming from behind!
What?! Why are you doing it?
Will never be undone. The scene will die even quicker now it is not on the main forum page.
Well, this is just not justified. The original HTC Wildfire keeps its position on the "Promised Land" while its successor is trashed here?! Other than that I can call some more devices which are less "popular" than Wildfire S but they still get to keep their position on the front page.
The main outcome is that the Wildfire S Android development will drop vigorously. Not that it's something special right now. XDA doomed our phone to development mediocrity and there is nothing we can do about it!

Always the pessimist, but I've gotta admit, it's not going anywhere at all.
I don't understand why.
If the devs work together, the job will be done faster.
I guess the begging letter didn't help much.

Without wanting to offend mods or admins, I think that the decision to put a 8-9 month old phone on the "Legacy & Low Activity Devices" area is an enormous disrespect to us (I'm being SOFT), owner of such devices.
It's something that seems to be made without even thinking about the consequences.
There are many other devices that should be dead on the main forum page for ages, but still have their position of "glory" there.
Those devices were launched two or more years ago, without any future upgrade in sight. Do you think this is rational? Honestly! I don't think so.
I think that now, even more than before devs should stick together and show that the Wildfire S is NOT a legacy device and much less a low activity device.
I didn't come to this forum for 2 or 3 days due to a very tight work schedule and now I saw this... I am shocked and disappointed with XDA.
My post has nothing to do with the existence of XTC-Clips and the possibility of rooting the WFS almost all around the world. I think that matter is offtopic.
It's just plain nonsense to "archive" a phone with a recent RUU update, with development going on, with users posting every single day, with users needing support and with HTC still having plans for this phone.
It's like HTC saying:"Your phone is 8 months old but we decided that it isn't supported anymore. Don't ask why. We don't care about you."
Sorry for my angry post. Once again I want to say that I don't intend to disrespect who manages this forums. I appreciate your work but this action is IMHO 1000 steps backwards for a respectable community of WFS owners.
Please, pretty please with sugar on top, consider undoing this.
Like other user said, you still have the "old" Wildfire on the main forums and already "deleted" the successor. Where is the logic?!
Please don't make the HTC Wildfire S be invisible. It's like you hate this phone and intentionally want it do die early. That's not fair. I would call it poor judgement but I'm afraid of hurting your feelings. I'm not here for that.
I like to help as much as I can. I have a hard job so my time isn't that much... but still I've shown that if people need my help, I try to be responsive.
Many people upgraded their WFS with my help. I don't want to be pretentious or have credit. I just expect this behavior from XDA, that usaully is a good and reliable source of information.
My most honest respect!
I totally agree with you miguelca.
WFS should be on top of the XDA page because he is still unlokcable.
This phone should be the priority of the community
I agree. The WFS is a great phone. Please put it back

It's not about the S-Off. In my country - Bulgaria, I can easily go and pay about 15 euros for that service. No problem. What really bothers me is that our phone is going to sink in oblivion before it has been given the chance to grow and develop!
I'm sorry XDA, but this is freakin' unjust and unacceptable!
miguelca, kudos for your elaborate opinion!
Where is the moderator of this section?Pls respond couse this is nonsence...
I can't believe.
It's not 10 years old, it's only few months old!!!

You get the feeling HTC is afraid of this low cost phone and wish they hadn't released it?
Now XDA joins the sweep it under the table bandwagon...What next. Someone comes in the middle of the night and steals it off my desk and "disappears" it.
wildfire on main page and WILDFIRE S on Legacy & Low Activity Devices, u must be kidding adm.....
I'm thinking HTC has asked or paid for our WFS to be pushed aside, maybe because they are finished developing for it and have no plans on unlocking bootloader. If so someone (XDA) has sold us out.
Hello my Friends,
The time has really come to say Good Bye to all my Wonder Friends. I enjoyed and had a good time with all of you by learning/porting stuff.
I8150 is really a nice phone, but I needed to shift from this phone due to some reason.
Long story short, I spent half of my life in coding, leading teams of software engineers, managing enterprise level ERPs and architecting enterprise level application in all the latest and old languages/technologies. I took out some time and did some porting stuff, but my main target was to develop CM7 from sources.
I have most experience in Java/J2EE and less in C++. I tried to take help from different peoples but my bad luck no one guided me due to lack of time or just for no reason.
Not only from our forum I tried to contacted Exihibit II , Galaxy S Plus but I didn't get positive response, whatever the reason is but no one guide me. I searched myself and read a lot of material on net but not a single guide is perfect. There is no problem with Linux setup, I am use to of it.
I believe in Opensource and helping each other by spreading/sharing knowledge but in my case I couldn't search a person like this.
So I decided to switch (just not for CM7) to a device that have a lot of custom roms.
The porting I did is an asset for all of you. I want the guys should come up and take over the Roms from me. I hope you enjoyed my custom roms. If there is anyone who has some programming experience with smali/backsmali, apktool, understanding rom folders, hands on on merging /diff, ready to take risk of bricking then I will be happy to transfer my knowledge, but due to my tough schedule the person should be expert and self starter.
And finally I would like to special thank @arco, @andyroid, @irishpancake and All my Wonder community members.
Thank You All
i wish i had enough knowledge cuz i really wantd to learn from you but im just a noob at these stufff
but i hope u have a better experience with your new device

Hi Ali dsd,
Please stick around as there's no one place or person to obtain this building -information in a reliable and complete form that we're looking for. I too got burnt similarly and still am in process of setting my own build environment based whatever that seemed to work for me from my captures from various blogs, forums and sites.
It's from open minded contributors like you that, when collectively packaged, would effective stuff come and came from. While I respectfully disagree this to be a reason for departure which is quite an expected risk with any open source stuff, I think your presence and continued contribution would benefit others looking to go along your route, though your participation might be less active than earlier.

Don't worry @andyroid, I am not going from XDA, I will be around , I will be checking W forums ( I haven't deleted it from my Fav ) time to time.
Amazingly my new device is not a high end device, Its just Nexus S. I think you will ask why ????
It will save my time . ... How ???? Mostly all types of Rom flavors are there, I just need to flash and use it, and the time I save from here can put on getting some certifications (like PMP, J2EE Architect and MCPD ). Its my decision and it doesn't mean that Nexus S is superior then Galaxy W.
Believe me or not but Galaxy W is an amazing device based on hardware it uses and the small size is very pocket friendly.

I am always here, i can be reached on PM or email.
I have already said that anyone who have some knowledge in porting can contact me , i will happily transfer my knowledge, because sharing knowledge is the major path to increase knowledge and community, but the person should have some experience.
I want someone to continue MIUIv4 and AOKP, or if someone come-up with their own porting version of any Rom then please ask Mod to delete my two threads.
I really appreciate all of your feelings.

HI alidsd, I understand you, cause I have your same motivation on developing. I studied information tecnology, so I have some knowledgies, but I'm new with android and I'm trying to do somenthing with my rom. I have your main target, build cm7 from source, but as u said there isn't a guide that really help in this, and for me is difficult to begin with it.
So now I have begininng to first port some mods to a gb rom, then to learn how to create a kernel and to port a complete rom. After these steps I like to begin cm7 from source, but I know is really hard.
I also have to say that it is demotivating to see there aren't much developers for our phone, that we haven't ICS from Samsung and at this time we haven't a complete ICS rom, while there is a new android version so probably i never work on cm7, too old...and for this, i was thinking it was better if I took a nexus s....however i can't change phone for now, so i continue to study and develop for my W...but in future the only phone i'll buy should be a nexus or a phone with more contribute from community...
Goodbye Ali and good luck with your new phone

i was motivated by your words Alisd, i really was serious and dreamed to learn more about android, i wanted to try what bagux was doing but i ain't got enough time for it. i was amazed and never imagined that a person whose managing software engineers also tried tweaking our W XD i'm just a beginner software engineer about 6months old on work and specialized in VB and for some reasons i can say i also am at Cobol, i was still trying to learn now despite of the schedule i have and i am starting it on making android apps for now and maybe tweaking in the future. can i ask what company are you working?
UPDATE
UPDATE
I got rid of Nexus S and bought HTC Desire S. Most of you will be wondering Why ???, a lot of reasons. if anyone have interest to know then he can PM me.
I would suggest guys not to go for Nexus S now, its not a good time, it could be debatable but its my personal opinion. All of the Roms that are available for NS are also available for DS.
At last Galaxy W is a good phone, so please stick with it till you find a better phone according to your needs.
Because I have been part of this community so I thought that I should update my community.
Thanks,
I am glad to read opinions about me, you are all wonderful people.
@irishpancake, I am really concerned about your health , please take care, and update your health status so our community can pray for you. God bless on you.
I am happy to see that Alex (from Galaxy S+) has ported MIUIv4 successfully , and I hope he will also port AOKP and other CM9 based Roms from S+ to W.

please check yourselves regularly, it may save your life!!!!
but don't become obsessed by it either....:fingers-crossed:
Long story short - because of Tegra2's lack of support which I failed to envision when I bought my Glide, I sold it in order to hunt for something new and well-supported. It seems that T-Mo's beastly Galaxy S Relay 4G is once again available and is cheaper now, so I might or might not grab one.
Before departure, I'd like to sincerely thank @bubor, @kick buttowski, @spyke555 and others who brought to us the many close-to-perfect AOSP ROMs I've been using. Especially @bubor, who patiently gave me a lot of help on minor issues. Seriously, you guys ROCK the Tegra world!
I also thank everyone who appreciated my assistance around here - without you guys I would've lost my motive to check up on XDA everyday.
I'll still occasionally check up on here and offer a hand, but until then... Au revoir.
