My grey screen says USB v2.07 I think I killed it! - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

My grey screen says USB v2.07. I tryed to update the radio to 1.13... I copied the EnterBl.exe over to the Siemens SX66 and executed it. It blinked and then turned off. Then it came back on and displays USB when on the cradel and Serial when removed. I cannot get it to do anything now. Does anyone have any advice?
Thanks,
Bobby

you are stuck in bootloader mode. just run the setup for rom upgrade/restore for your device and it should work. I think a hard reset will also allow it to reboot into normal mode, but not sure.

Defiant XDA
I cannot seem to get it to reset nor be recognized by the computer when it is placed in the cradle. It will chime as it is placed in the cradle, yet the charging light no longer ignites and the hot-sync program on my WinXP pc does not indicate that they are connected any more.
Thank you for your time!
Bobby

restore the original ROM. I had this issue after I run a defrag on my "Storage" folder using Storage Tools. I could not reset it. Also, upgrade with higher ROM did not work.
You have to restore / setup using original ROM version. Good luck!

Follow this link, download the update and follow through the instructions.

original rom
Does any one has the original rom for the ph20b my son messed it up
\if any one can send it via email or a link will be helpfull
thnx

Another Possible Solution...
This has happened to me numerous times when upgrading to various ROM versions and through experimentation I finally realized that it was related to my storage card. I also remember reading another post like this where this problem can occur if the storage card is on the large side (>= 1GB ).
Just take out the card and reconnect to the cradle and you should be able to flash again.
Hope this helps

Newbie cooked one in lumpistefans, but can't install.

I cooked a ROM in lumpistefans kitchen, dowloaded it to my doc's on P.C but when I click install all I get is a Black box for a second, then nothing. Is this because it downloads in dos? if so, what do I do?( sorry, I'm a bit thick when it comes to computers etc.!)
I've also sinc'd it onto xda, but still can't install.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance, guys.
Silent D
If you want the best method of doing it, which has always worked for me, go get the new version of XDATools with the bootloader.
Download the rom from the Kitchen as an .nb1 file. Grab an SD card (32MB of greater) that you can format. Use the tools to write the rom to the SD card with the bootloader.
Put the SD card into the XDA and then just power it back on. It should ask you if you want to flash the device. Just click yes to flash the device.
Maybe you need to unzip the file then try install.
Thanks ed207_us that was a great help, I managed to install using my card though twice I also installed direct from pc to xda.
:? :? I have successfully installed 4 different cooked roms plus xda developers rom but STILL it doesn't power up outside of the cradle.
All external buttons, and all functions work in cradle, but when removed, green LED will flash for a while, then stops.
If I try to opperate phone out of cradle I can do a few functions/opperations but it crashes (No LEDs at all)
When I've installed a cooked rom I have followed instruction to do a hard reset, but it won't start up again if I press after 60 sec's. I have to put xda back in cradle.
Also when installing new rom there is no message saying that the old rom is being removed, should there be?
Is there a way to remove the previous rom before new one is installed? as I'm sure the problem with the locked buttons must have something to do with the original O2 rom( though I am only a very green Newbie, so I don't really know D*ck).
I'm getting T'd off with this now and am beginning to think that my xda is totally shot, so any more ideas would be most greatfully received.
Thanks guys

I've never faced anything like this.
But I wonder is that is not linked to your battery being damaged, old, or out of order. If is works when connected and stops when removed.
What shows you battery power gauge when removed from the cradle ?
Thanks tanguy
Battery is ok I think as the power bar shows 100%.
Silent D
well a battery can still be defect even if it display itself as 100%
i mean if the battery is damaged so it think that it's full but full being
that it have 60sec of power
I think it has to be the battery as well. There is no message saying the old rom has been removed and it is not like a PC OS where you have to format the old OS or anything. You just flash the whole unit at one time.
You should probably send out the unit to be repaired under warranty
OK,fair comment, but why the problem with the external buttons, and the inability to restart using the hard reset button?
cheers guys

 Sorry just answered the second part myself, if there's a problem with the battery the battery switch might not work....Duhhhh

HELP ME with my dead Hermes, PLEASEEE!

Hi all,
I need to know if someone can help me to bring to life again my lovely JasJam,that was working great until this morning.
The problem is this one:
I was going outside the country this morning (I am in Czech rep. now and I went to Slovakia) and on the way back I realize that my hermes (herm100,spl2.10 olipro,RADIO 1.57,schaps 3.54bITA) was without any signal. I tried an other SIM card and the result was the same.
Once at home, I tried to reinstall schaps, everything was ok,except the signal still missing. At this point,I tried to reinstall the Radio and the bar was still at 0% and after 3 minutes it gave me error 262 and now is with the screen always on (illuminated) on the KITL page and it doesn't start anymore...
please,someone with a good heart,help me.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=286755
back a live any hermes ( that's as worked whith my hems)
I don't know that's work but try install any official rom from HTC that's have radio information and then you can install any other. but extrat the signedruu. (that's the rom file) and then put the file into a sd card start your herm by pressing simultaneous the power, and ok button and prissing the reset hole whith the stylus pen and follow the steps it's very easy.
thank you Zefo,
but I am Stuck on the bootloader page, I cannot insert a original Rom because ActiveSync doesn't recognize the phone.
Being in the Bootloader page is fine. Just run the RUU Wrapper, it will connect.
What caused the problem? I am a little worried as I am going to Tenerife on Friday and I am running Radio 1.54.07.00 as well (I assume thats what you meant when you said 1.57)...
Is there any reports of going abroad messing up your phone when its been modified with new radio/rom?
Hi Allan,
I would like to run RUU,but ActiveSync doesn't connect my phone,so when I launch it,they don't communicate. The computer see the device, but ActiveSync not, infact, If I try it,Itgive me error 260 Update Error (I used Hard SPL v7)
Stick what you need to flash on a MicroSD card and stick it in the phone, you should be able to boot off of that.
Theres instructions somewhere in the forum on it all.
I got the axact parameters of yours Hermes, STARFURY, it changes only the rom (mine is/was schaps 3.54b).
I am not able to find what you suggest me but I cannot go on the SD if the phone doesn't turn on the OS...How can I do?
Get a usb cardreader plug your microsd card into an sd card adaptor, then plug that into the cardreader and the cardreader into hte PC. Transfer the stuff onto the microsd card and stick it in the phone,.
but I have just to put the 2 files RUU Wrapper (Bootloader) on it in the main root??and how can I make them start?
I was able to go into the OS but I am still with no GSM and if I try to update it,it stops at 12% also with original ROM.
Can anyone give me a link where can I see where the radio chip is located on the mainboard please?

crashed/frozen. wont boot (FInixNOver) - cant reflash!

Hi guys.
I was using the installed the FInixNOver 3.0.1 ROM onto my SPV M700 and it was great. I've had it for about 2 weeks without any problems.
Last night I looked at my phone, only to realise that it was completley dead. This didnt shock me to much because the battery was running low, and i decided to let it die completley before recharging it again.
I charged my phone overnight and switched it on this morning, but the phone would freeze at the 'FInixNOver' splash screen (the numbers at the bottom of the screen would appear overlaying the splash, but the phone wouldnt go pass this point).
The only way to turn off the phone from this state is to eject the battery. I have tried removing the sim card, turning it back on in as many ways as possible but to no avail. I am able to get to the TriColor test screen (im running IPL-0.50 / SPL-1.30.Olipro) but with all the custom roms available, they all use the ROMUpdateUtility which requires the phone to have established an activesync connection initially (but this would mean my phone would have to be 'on completley' - so this is catch 22.)
For the record, my phone/battery died while my wired handsfree was attached (dunno if thats of any interest to anyone or the rom baker).
But it looks like the only way i'll be able to flash my phone is by finding a way to install the .nbh file without using the RUU method. Because I can put my phone into test mode manually.... any help or guidence would be very much appriciated.
Thanks.
Ok can you get it into bootloader? power/camera buttons and reset?
sorry didnt read fully.
right get your device into bootloader first,
then open active sync (are you using xp)
then open connection settings and disable usb connection,
put your device into bootloader mode, then run any rom upgrade, i prefer the WM6.1 pdaviets from HERE (Username: PDAVIET / Password: pdaviet)
Your pda does not need active sync with ruu's, so no catch 22. if you turn off usb connection in active sync, you can still run ruu and it will be recognised, unless you are using vista, where you need to change your HTC SYNC drivers.
Thanks for your quick response...
Yes I can get into boot loader using the power and camera buttons (or holding the power and camera buttons when resetting the phone)...
When the phone is in boot loader mode, active sync doesnt even detect the phone anyway, but nevertheless, I have followed your instructions and disabled the USB Connection. (BTW, yes i am using XP)
The phone is still in boot loader mode, so now i try and execute the ROMUpdateUtility.exe and go through the steps, at the 1st step i tick the tickbox and click next, and the 2nd step i tick the tickbox and click next. (this step says DO NOT enter the bootloader manually? - but i have havent i?) anyway, when i click next, it says... "Verifying the information on your Trinity... Please Wait..." for about 10 seconds, and then i get a message "ERROR [260] : CONNECTION"
What am i doing wrong?
Huumm.. why dont you flash your phone throw the sd card??

I would recommend this option above, to be safe, i usually get them error messages when the battery is below 50% or sometimes i try it again and it works. it does state do not manually enter bootloader but i always do it this way.
also make sure active sync is not still running in taskmanager under the alais: wcescomm.exe and WCESMGR.exe, end them both.
I've just tried using an official ROM, but the problem still occurs with the 'connecting'. It doesnt seem that the computer picks up a connection to the phone whatsoever.
Should i be concerned that at the bottom of the bootloader screen it says "serial", is this correct?
Im starting to get annoyed now.
Bye,
the bottom of the sreen mast say "usb" not serial.
it seems there is a problem, if it states serial. as it should say usb. try THIS
Seems like the problem was that my USB lead was loose and made a bad connection, hence why the bootloader showed 'serial' and not 'usb'... as soon as i wiggled it and heard the 'connection noise' in windows, i knew i was good to go, and so using the RUU worked fine to reupdate my phones ROM.
Thanks for your help.
My only question is that why did it happen in the first plave?
WIZZKID - I just saw your post here now. I have to tell you that I also saw "SERIAL" at the bottom of the bootloader screen and not "USB". As I said I returned it to get another phone but maybe I will try something else for now instead of a P3600i. I will monitor your thread to see how it turns out for your phone, because it seems that we have the same problem.
if you see "serial" instead "usb" your problem is in the usb cable, usb port from your computer or in the usb connector from your trinity!!!!!
I was having the same problem that you have!! my problem was from my usb from mine trinity!! see if the conector is at good conditions !!!
Well as some of you may know, I got my Trinity replaced for sticking at the WM splash screen after a few days. This second one - I have had it ONE night - and the same thing has happened with incomplete booting. This time I have been trying all night to flash the phone to an official ROM, but I cannot do it (apparently) because I can't establish a connection via ActiveSync. When I stick the data cable in while in bootloader I see SERIAL replaced by USB and when I try the flash I get a "270" error (cannot connect to phone) and the phone re-boots to the sticking plash screen. What should I do now?
ladies and gentlemen...
we've got a lot of mixed messages in this thread.. please make sure you're posting the right thing. no need to disable USB when manually going in to bootloader to flash (at least in xp).. Also, you can ignore the part of the RUU that says 'do not manually enter bootloader' (you should really read the guide on my site)
foxuniform- can you please give some details..
1) are you running xp or vista
2) have you flashed hard-spl? if so what version?
in the mean time, try a couple of things.. first, flash hard-spl (even if you already have it, but from the sound of it i think you don't have it on your device).. if that works, try to flash an official ROM. Can also try to use splxploit, then flash hard-spl, and then flash official ROM (there's a guide on my site if you're unsure)
please post your results
*edit*
here are the steps for SD card upgrade, but i HIGHLY recommend flashing Hard-spl first..
try to do it from SD card. how?
Extract the .NBH file from your prefered ROM upgrade: In windows use winrar (right click) to extract the contents of the exe file. In Linux / MacOS use cabextract (http://www.cabextract.org.uk/) .
Rename the .NBH file to TRINIMG.nbh and copy it to the root folder of your miniSD card.
With miniSD card inserted on the phone, start the bootloader (hold Power button on right side and Camera button at same time and stick with stylus in RESET on bottom).
You should see the screen pictured on the left, confirm flashing on screen by pressing the power button.
Flashing might hang after some time but this is normal. Just wait. Complete flash takes about 30 minutes, so check your battery or connect to charger before the flashing process starts.
When flashing completes soft-reset your device.
Make sure your SD has FAT32 and has no label. There have been reports that if SD has a label the bootloader can not access the TRINIMG.nbh
racerx_ I have carefully read your response and suggestions, and thanks for your expertise input on the matter. I am fairly new to this stuff so read below carefully as you may find errors in the way I tried to go about doing what I was hoping to accomplish.
First let me answer your questions. I am running Windows XP. The phone is in it's completely natural state in that I have not flashed it in any way. The ROM I was TRYING to flash to the phone while it was not starting properly (this is where I manually entered bootloader) is an official ROM from the HTC website (please note everyone that when I registered my P3600i on the HTC website it came up as the Dopod 810). Anyway, that never worked. ActiveSync never detected the phone (and I guess that's the reason I could not do anything as far as flashing goes). I HARD-RESET my P3600i and it booted normally. I re-installed all the stuff I had on it, from memory card to various .cab files, and the phone is working beautifully thus far. I will report if anything funny happens again.
I have to ask you racerx_, if I CAN flash hard-SPL on the P3600i according to the lovely guide on www.trinityguides.info. I have been of the opinion that things don't work for the P3600i as they did for the P3600, and that has been echoed by many P3600i users on this forum who are ready and waiting to try out some cooked ROMs (myself included).
For the sake of record, my phone is running rom version 3.00.707.17 and radio version 1.46.00.11. I patiently await your response.
woaaahhh..
i didn't notice the 'i' in your previous post... yeah, as far as i know, these ROMs are not flashable on your p3600i.. sorry..
**correct me if i'm wrong somebody**
Yeah I kinda thought that would be your response. By the way - do you think that this phenomenon of sticking at the Windows Mobile splash screen (both the P3600 and P3600i models apparently) has anything to do with something users do with the devices, or you figure it's an inherent software glitch of some sort? I am wondering if I should try a different model or hold on to my P3600i? Hope it's not something that'll happen again - I fly for a living and it's not gonna be good to have the thing screw up on me away from base - I really count on it for everything from casual keeping in touch on Messenger to viewing my work schedule. I love the Trinity though - it's one of my all-time favourite HTC phones.
hmm... i don't think its inherent in the Trinity.. (not a hardware issue.. in my opinion)
its been a while since i followed the posts on it, but always seems to be software related.. sometimes ROM-specific problem. Personally, i've probably flashed as many ROMs as anyone and the only time i ever encountered problems was with the official HTC WM6 ha.. go figure.. I think ppl did find that hard resets before and after flashing are helpful as well..
i love my trinity, and there's not much else on the market to make me want to trade it in (is it just me, or have pda's kind of stopped getting cooler).. i'd stick with it..

Stuck in bootloader AFTER flash to Stock & Relock

MODS: Please read this whole post as I have found posts similar, but not exactly like mine. I think my situation is unique in detail!
I have a HTC Touch Diamond on the CDMA Sprint Network.
I was using Mighty Rom R3BORN. I am getting a new phone so I went to flasj back to Sprint Stock Rom retreived from PPCGeeks. I have flashed back to Stock Sprint Rom every time prior to reflashing to Mighty's updated Rom's. Never any problem. I have always flashed from Internal Storage bacause I could never get the phone to stay connected an any of my 4 pc's using the RomUpdateUtility.
This time, after reflashing to Stock Sprint with my Internal Storage and doing a soft reset, I took the nbh file off of my Internal Storage so I wouldn't have dup Image files when I tried to use the Relocker. My Internal Storage was cleared of all files and phone was set to stock with all memory cleared. THEN I tried to use the relocker, from Internal, for the first time. Now I am stuck in the bootloader, can't get into USB mode, NOTHING!
My phone says this:
Security Unlocked RUUNBH
DIAM500
SPL-0.57.0000
MicroP-Diam (LED) vB
PSOC-Diam STAGE_EVT v20
Upgrade ROM code error
Please Try again
Serial
Bad flash.
Reflash with a stock ROM.
adwinp- Thank you for responding so quickly.
How do I reflash if I can not connect to the phone in USB mode.
I know my pc or activesync will NOT show the connection, but the Rom Update Utilities never work for me any ANY of my 4 pc's. That is why I always have to flash from Internal.
I can't get the phone to boot, even with a hard reset or restore. It is just stuck in bootloader like I said.
So how am I supposed to reflash?
You don't need activesync showing a connection.
Put the device in bootloader, connect the usb to your PC and see if it's saying "USB" in the device.
Then flash the ROM.
Okay, I must not be making myself clear. I will explain a bit better.
1. I KNOW that my phone does not have to be connected by activesync.
2. I KNOW that my phone would not show up in activesync or my pc anyway at this point.
2. I CAN NOT get my phone into USB mode. Phone ALWAYS says serial.
3. I CAN NOT do a hard reset on my phone.
4. I CAN NOT do a restore on my phone.
4. MTTY doesn't connect either. Doesn't even see USB.
5. If I unplug phone from USB, take battery out, wait a while (1 hr), put the battery back in, the phone immediately shows the bootloader screen. Takes less than a second like it was running on no battery! lol
5. I am not new to flashing. But I am new to this problem. I need deeper support.
Who wants my phone.
Okay, I give up. After 6 days of searching and trying anything I can find online, I finally give up.
Who wants this phone? All memory was cleared and I'm sure there is someone here who can fix it. The screen works but should be replaced. It sticks out a bit on the bottom, too, like it's not glued in anymore. But if you want it, it's yours for free. Just send me a prepaid shipping label, and I'll ship the phone to you. No catch, no gimmeks. If you can fix it, it's yours.
Includes: Phone stuck in bootloader & serial mode, wall charger with detachable usb, car charger, headphone adapter, and brand new in box (unopened) invisible shield by Zagg.
First come, first serve.
I'll gladly take it off your hands! I like broken things!
Or give it to a developer who doesn't have one..
Where abouts are you located?
I am in Minnesota. I'm not sure how much shipping would cost but I would pack the phone and accessories in a small box to save $$$. PM me if you are interested and I will give you my address so you can create a shipping label. I think you could email it to me. I'll just print it out, slap it on the box, and send it out tomorrow.
Attached are some images of what you will get.
Let me know!

At Witt's End!

I have had a HTC model of the Excalibur for almost a month now. The first day I had it I went to the Comm Manager #5 (I believe the Sync option) was grayed out. I have tried active sync on 2 different PC's XP/vista and my laptop XP SP3 non will sync. I cannot access the SD card for anything but pictures taken with the phone. The Pictures can only be deleted from removing the SD card and putting in my card reader and deleting them manually. I can't get WMP11 to sync. I charges from USB fine but nothing else.
Phone appears to be brand new.
Specs:
Model: DodpodC720W
ROM: 1.33.422.1
WM 6.1 Standard
CE OS 5.2.19700
I have hard reset the phone 2 times this did not do anything but reset my settings.
I getting ready to get rid of it as it is less useful than my old phone.
Can anyone help me at all. All I want to do is add programs and music to the dam phone. Thank you.
change rom...
hi there.. all you need to do is re flash your rom or upgrade to a diferent one... i use 6.5 evolution series and it is really cool
Well since this seems to be the only way I appreciate the help. How about the application unlocked? How do I find out it is already? How will I install if not since I can't load anything?
OK i would love to upgrade my rom. It appears as though I need my PC to recognize the phone. Am I wrong? I am a noob when it comes to smart phones but not PC hacking. Please help me and thanks.
look in the sticky at the top of the forum....you need to do the bootloader option....if you have upgraded to 6.1 already...then load your original factory rom through the bootloader, and then once you reconnect after the flash, you should be able to flash the rom of your choice
Thanks but the phone came with 6.1 suggestion on what rom to load as the factory rom Since the Dopod rom is gone? Is there a universal HTC rom since this is a factory Excalibur. Again noob thanks.
My master boot screen reads
Excalibur Wifi
ONBL 1.33.0000

Lol! It shouldn't brick your phone. If you are unsure if it is app unlocked, then run the app unlock procedures at the top of the forum in the first sticky. You won't damage anything running them on an already unlocked phone.
Or sell it to me for spare parts!
Ok thanks for the help. But how am I suppose to run applications that require Activesync??? It has never worked on this Phone. Charges fine through a usb connection. USBview shows no device connected in XP/vista on 2 PC's. HTC branded running a dodpod WM6 rom.
If this is a 6.1 ROM already try going to the settings/connection and select USB/PC. If there is an option for advanced functionality uncheck it.
Thank you but I have done this many times. Checked, Unchecked, Usb charging checked and Unchecked in all combinations. Turn off an on after each. Turn on all settings in comm manager as well as off.
At this point I am looking for a way to flash a Rom. I will be able to try a T-Mobile Dash WM5 rom and hope that works in some way or if I am even able to since the USB connection doesn't show. I don't understand why I would be able to charge but no error on connection or even that there is something plugged into any USB port front back or otherwise.
Check this thread out Matt. Might be just what you need. Good luck

This may sound silly but what OS are you using on your pc and what version of active sync are you using?
Thanks.
Active Sync 4.5 also tried an another version DL 5 separate times to check to make sure it wasn't a bad copy as I have read in the forums.
XP/Vista desktop XP Sp3 laptop XP Sp3 on girlfriends PC windows CE on my **ty UMPC (but didn't expect to see it sync to that).
All will charge the phone fine. None show that there is any thing plugged into the PC using USB view nothing in the Administrative tools show as being not installed. Tried 3 different usb cables all work fine with other items PSP old phone so on.
With XP you will need to use active sync 4.5, with vista active sync will not work, it requires another program (which I can not remember the name of right now).
Stick with one os for now and lets see what we can get going. I use Windows XP Pro with service pack 2 and active sync myself. I am not sure if SP3 may have broken something with this since I did not install it on any machine that I use with my phone.
You might want to consider the SD card flash procedure mentioned in a post above to update to a different rom. I am not sure I would go back to WM5 though, I would suggest another 6.1 rom or the new 6.5 rom and go from there.
Well that didn't do it.
Thanks finally got to try the SD flashing. No go!
1. Extracted all the files. (the TMO WM5 rom and the HTC factory.)
2. rename the .nbh file to EXCAIMG.nbh
3. Format sd card FAT 32 slow format.
4. Loaded only the nbh file only as well all files extracted.
5. Hold down the camera button and insert the usb as well as hold the camera button for 3 sec then press power.
Gives me checking the SD card but that is it nothing else.
Active sync. I doubt this will ever work if the phone doesn't show as being on any USB port in USB view
8125 & At&t tilt (friends phones) show as being plugged into a port.
I had my friend take a look at it. He has flashed his phones plenty and said sell the piece of **it.
Am I doing the SD flash correctly?
Any more Ideas before I sell it?

hmmm if you're gonna sell it i'll buy it from you. i need something extra to test roms on..if i can get it working. i don't believe phones are ever bricked beyond repair. if the hardware isn't broken then it is fixable.
Hazz, That's a truly odd situation.
So odd that I had the exact same thing happen to me just recently actually . I don't exactly know why it happens but I can tell you how I fixed it.
1- I hard resetted my fone (powering off the fone then turning it on holding the 2 soft keys and power button for no more than 2 seconds).
2- From that menu I reset to the default rom. I don't exactly remember the menu options but there should be a sticky somewhere in this fantastic forum.
3- After it returned to default, I was successfully able to connect to activesync (well, Windows Mobile Device Center for Windows 7/vista) and flash ookbas amazing 6.5 3v0lution rom.
you can find original roms here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=381726 once you pick which one you need (i used the t-mobile one) put ur phone in bootloader. turn ur phone off and press and hold the camera button then power button then insert ur usb. Flash your rom. Then app unlock it using SDAunlock at the bottom of the first post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=523718.
Then dowload the newest 3VO 6.5 rom at the top of the first post and flash it and love it.
