Hi,
I have the BT HTC S620 on RickyWatts 6.1 ROM
I used to be able to use ms voice command which seemed to be built in..
but then it stopped working and now when i hold down home (voice command key) it beeps at me before saying "there is no trained voice tag"
anyone have this problem or know how to fix it?
Sorry if this has already been posted...search doesnt seem to be working...
Thanks,
Matt
when you installed 6.1 you didnt pick Microsoft VC. You picked cyberon Voice Command.
"Difference between these two kinds of voice command is that Cyberon voice uses voice-tags that you record, whereas ms voice command doesn't need you to record voice tags(but spoken language only support English"
look for VCSwitch.ccs in your phones \windows folder. Run it with Resco Explorer. That will enable Microsoft Voice Command.
....stupid thing wont work...
i got this screen when i first booted my device in this ROM
It doesnt let me scroll down to select MS Voice Command

Voice Announcements
I have a question about Voice command and annoumcements. Before I updated to to rickywatts 6.1 I use to get announcements for everything. New text message and whom it was from would be read to me, email headers and whom they were from. Even incoming calls would be announced. Well with the new 6.1, I only get the first one announced after a reboot and nothing after that. I have to reboot again if I want to hear another one. Any ideas on why this is happening. Not just with rickywatts version. I first had kavanas and the same thing would happen. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

did you check your setting on voice command?, what is your announcement routing? are announcements set to always or to free time only? etc.
My Voice Command settings
Yes....I think the setting are set correctly...forgot to mention those..sorry.
Voice enabled - yes
Voice button - record
Availability - Always available
Announcment Routing - bluetooth only
Announcements - Always
Call confirmations - yes
Announce Calls - yes
Announce Messaging - yes
Calendar Reminders - yes
Media Selections - yes
I believe that's all of them unless I'm missing something.

If you have announcement routing set to bluetooth only, you wont hear them unless you're wearing a bluetooth headset , and you'll hear it thru your head set. You should try bluetooth if available instead for the routing and see if that works.
I have tried the other routing choices just to see if it would make a difference, but it did not. I always have my bluetooth on at work. My hands are usually in the middle of a project when someone would call or my emails and text's arrive....so with the bluetooth on, I was able to hear who was calling or what the text or email was about without having to stop what I was doing and remove my phone from it's pouch to take a look. That was with T-Mobile's WM6.0. I don't want to return to that....I love 6.1 enough to learn to live without voice announce, but if someone knows what is conflicting with it...all the better. It might be that the whole bluetooth software(or whatever it may be called) isn't right at all. When a phone call comes in, I should only hear it ringing in my bluetooth....right? Well, sometimes, not all the time, I hear it coming from the phone too. Same with text and email alerts. When I have the bluetooth on, the alerts should only be heard through the bluetooth, but same problem. I don't know.....what's next? Anyone....?
Works without BT
Well...I tried the voice announce without the bluetooth and it works just fine everytime without fail....something new must be wrong with my bluetooth headset because this was not happening in WM6.0....don't know what to next.
thanks,
Since YouMail have released their API with documentation, I was hoping someone would be able to whip up a nice Windows Mobile client for this service. I can't be the only one who uses YouMail and would love to have it on his phone without going through Opera. Anyone interested?
I use youmail too, but I never really felt the need for a separate app. My wife has an Iphone, and I've seen the app on hers but wasn't impressed. I just set it up on the favorites panel. And I get emailed with a link to the message anyway, so I dont even launch it that way very often.
I'm not trying to discourage you, just giving my point of view.
I actually have an iphone with the youmail app on it and I find it invaluable. It's a far better solution for me than having to open up safari to go to the mobile site. The program sends a push notification rather than clogging up my email inbox with useless junk, and it's just all around a much more pleasant experience. Considering they felt the need to make clients for iPhone, Android, and Blackberry, obviously a lot of people agree with that sentiment. But to each his own I guess. I'm still hoping someone with some programming talent will be willing and able to whip something up.
I use and love you mail. I'm starting a project for a WM client. Dont wait up because I wont have much time to work on it. Once it progresses enough I might ask someone here to do some graphics for me. It will work by intercepting you mail sms messages. When it catches a message from youmail it will sync with the online acct. It will also feature a chome plugin to replace the existing missed call and VM plugins.
If possible I will also suppress the system missed call notification and show my own. Currently it annoys me that i get a text from youmail for notification of missed calls and I still get the built in missed call notification. I would like to disable the built in one. One advantage of youmail is that if someone calls you and your phone has no signal or is off, you mail still sends you a missed call notification. On the other hand if someone calls and hangs up before it goes to voicemail the system will show a notification but youmail is never aware of the call. Therefore I will suppress the system notification and show my own notifications if the system gets a missed call or if youmail gets a missed call (and each time I will need to check to see if they are notifying of the same call or if a different one occured). Better get coding.
I hope you get some time soon to work on it. Sounds great! I did a mockup of how I envisioned such a program and made some rudimentary graphics. Feel free to PM me if you are interested in them.
I'm interested too!

i hope you get some a chance to work on this i would be interested in testing this it would be nice to have a more functional youmail app it would be nice if this could work with google voice also as far as the notifcations system
this is a quick little app i whipped up like a week or two ago its nothing special but it works for your basic youmail needs. this is a quick easy solution to my needs so im sharing it with you all.

works on acer neotouch but doesn't store the login info. Better to just use a favorites link on desktop and use that instead. thanks for trying though.
I have always been an android fan since the G1, but REALLLY interested in WP7, thinking of buying the htc arrive on sprint but theirs ONE thing holding me back. And thats Google Voice.
I use GV for my main number for texitng AND calling.
I know they have some GV apps but can never seem to get a clear answer. I need to be able to receive and make calls along with texting and receiving. any WP7 GV app for that?
There are a couple of GV apps but I still use the actual website because I think it works better.
If you download zune I believe you can download the WP7 Marketplace still if you wanted to look for yourself.
well I use zune and looked. but wasnt sure if I can call on those. Like of course android GV app will be better. but say someone calls my GV number I want my WP7 to ring just like normal
i use google voice on android and it rocks
well I know its awesome on android thats what I use. I just want the baic features to work if im gonna get a WP7 device like texting and making and receiving calls to my GV number
It works on wp7. Its not quite as fully integrated as there is no official app, and there is no socket API as of yet. This means the 3rd party apps have to send you notifications directly from their own servers for true notifications, otherwise it will load when you open the app and check for new messages.
I use the GoVoice application on wp7 and it notifies me (through 3rd party) of sms messages ect, and gives me my google voice mails/translations/playback just fine. It works, you can make calls, receive calls, texts, get transcripts/playback just like on android, its just a little bit more limited than the Android version. When the sockets api comes out for dev's this will quickly be addressed with true notifications and be more similar to what you are used to.

hmm thanks. I think im gonna try the HTC Arrive on sprint. I looove android, but sometimes just want a phone thats very quick. simple and looks great. plus I love Zune Pass. The only thing holding me back was using GV. but GoVoice seems great

Yah I'm pretty heavily tied in to Google Voice. Use it for work and all my voicemails. GoVoice gets the job done good enough till a full fledged one can be written when Sockets API is released. But when that happens I will definitely be looking for one as great as what Android had

I'm curious how you expect a Socket API to make the notifications better.

The reason you don't see any [functioning] Instant messenger apps, and why GoVoice needs this 'workaround' is there is no way for the dev's to bind to a port or IP address on a host, giving way for the notifications you would normally be used to. Until MS gives these API's out, only bandaid workarounds will be available.
Or am I missing something?
If there is a way to make/recieve phone calls using GoVoice, then I must be too stupid to figure it out. When I attempted to make calls, it would somehow remotely call from my other on contract phone, while also causing my on contract phone to ring until I answered it. Really confusing to describe, but it was equally confusing watching it happen.

I don't think what they are doing is a workaround, I'm not too sure how they'd do it otherwise. One of the major reasons for push notifications is to be used when the application isn't running. Having a Socket API isn't going to help at all if the application isn't running, right?

hmm...thats true...so I would assume (hopefully) that sockets support comes with the multitasking update? Are programs going to be able to periodically check for information while not running in the foreground? You will need this for 'in app' notifications instead of the workaround; I call it that because it is. Well, a workaround the lack of what is necessary to do these like on other systems (BB, palm, Symbian, iOS, Android ect). GoVoice uses a secondary user account on Gmax. Gmax has to watch your account for changes and then send you notifications to the phone, as opposed to doing this inside the app.
I'm no programmer, so I'm not sure exactly all what is needed. But shouldn't these programs be able to bind to certain ports, and when messages come in, they are pushed to your device? Does the program need to be running all the time? or will the notification being sent from a specific host/port 'awaken' the application with a notification? Maybe somebody can clarify this for me. How do the other systems do this? You should be able to get a notification while doing other things, since you can obviously already do this with the MS applications.
To me, this type of functionality is pretty necessary to many applications people will need on their phones.
In iOS4, Apple added the ability for VOIP applications to run in the background. That in combination with a Socket API (which is necessary for VOIP anyway) is probably what you're after.

GoVoice dials directly using the same method that Android's Voice application uses. There's no call-back when connecting the call. It simply calls an intermediary Google number, which dials out to whomever you're calling.

Did you use Google Voice web page on your desktop PC to make a call and remembered that setting? It is possible that GoVoice gets affected by your Google Voice web page settings.
BTW, on Android Phones, Google Voice is fully integrated with the phone dial pad as well so that you don't need to pull up the Google Voice app in order to make a call. You set up rules about when you want to make GV calls (all calls or only international calls) and just dial your number or contacts in regular Android phone dialer pad.
Hi,
I have an evo with DeckRom on it (gingerbread). I'm trying to get skype to be my default dialer, or even better to have it prompt me for what I'd like to use as a dialer (phone or skype).
I can't for the life of me figure this out. Phone doesn't show up under settings-applications-manage-all. I've cleared defaults from gocontacts.
I've tried uninstalling skype, then rebooting the phone and redownloading the app.
Still nothing.
Other thing I might like is the ability to choose google voice to make outgoing calls if that is available.
Thanks in advance.
Bump for this. I'm having the exact same issue on my thunderbolt running stock/rooted debloat. Any help would be great as I'm retiring the thunderbolt and basically turning it intoca glorified pda/voip phone.
Google voice can be set as a default dialer/SMS/voicemail app but Skype I don't believe will set as a default however on decks gb rom in settings under calls you can set up a SIP account for voip calling with no added apps it will use the default dialer to call over ip
When I first installed skype, android gave me the option to choose how to complete the call. I no longer receive that option.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
My goal is to either:
1. have the option of using skype, google voice or T mobile when initiating a call from my contacts list
or
2. be able to access and successfully choose a contact from my list when I'm on skype
At some point (I don't know why) my phone stopped giving the choice of using Skype, google voice or TMobile for an outgoing call. I would love to get that back since Skype doesn't allow me to use my phone contact list to make calls. Any ideas on how to achieve my goal?
Please tell me how to have a notification on my email when someone responds to my question.
Thanks

You're in the evo4g forum no one here has tmo as the evo is a cdma phone not gsm
Same problem here since upgrading to latest Android. Did you find a solution yet?
bzzz
Did you manage to find the solution to this?
I can use my A100 perfectly fine with Sipdroid and my google voice account, however the problem is more or less a convenience issue. Sipdroid doesn't have a good way to view your contacts like in an address book, and it also doesn't dial from the "People" app when you try to place a call using sipdroid. I have had other android devices that the contacts(now People) will allow you to call a person from the internal dialer or a 3rd party one and it automatically forwards the call to sipdroid accordingly. I installed the Dialer One app hoping that it would solve the issue on my A100, and that is when I found out that it didn't work at all with it. I get a message saying "Telephony feature is unavailable on this device" I have had other tablets without telephony capabilities that this app has worked with. I am wondering if there is a simple mod I can do to trick the app into thinking it does have telephony capabilities, or if there is some way I could recompile cm9 to include any missing libraries, system files, apks, etc.. such as the internal dialer. If anyone has got Dialer One to work for them with SipDroid +GV or if you know of an app that works like the default dialer app (that we don't have) then please let me know. I appreciate the help. If I can get this figured out I'll make an attempt at providing a custom ROM with the dialer and telephony features enabled just for people who wish to use Google Voice calling with their tablet. If it is as simple as a build.prop edit then I will add that to my custom build.prop in my thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1799148
**Edit: I think I found a solution to get SipDroid to place calls when calling from "People(contacts)" I was looking into the process that takes place when a call is initiated and I seen that we have a Phone.apk in our a100 roms, but the process is nullified so nothing ever takes place when something triggers it.
I had the idea, well what devices that are tegra2 based have ICS and allow phone/voice calling? Motorola Atrix 4g does.. So let me find the Motorola Atrix 4G Phone.apk and replace the one I have in /system/app/ with it. Lo and Behold I can now make calls directly from my contacts!! This fixed it, partially.. What still doesn't work? Dialer One still gives the same error - "Telephony feature is unavailable on this device", but now I don't really need Dialer One anyway since I can just use the builtin contacts through the People app. Another thing thats not really desired, once you make a call you will get a blank window for the Phone app at the bottom of your "history" list (button beside the home on the launcher) I will try to figure out a way to get rid of this annoyance and prevent history from ever showing the Phone app.
If you want to try it your self, here is what to do (you must be root):
If you have Android ICS 4.0.3 or newer Download the Motorola Atrix 4G Phone.apk here. **If you are using HC then you will need the Phone.apk from a Tegra2 device that runs HoneyComb 3.x**
Mount /system writeable
Move the file /system/app/Phone.apk to /system/app/Phone.apk.bak
Put the downloaded Phone.apk in /system/app
Touch the phone number for a contact in your "People" app
Choose to call with SipDroid (or other app in list that accepts the dial function)
Watch the call take place (you may want to try dialing someone you know you isn't going to answer the phone or wonder what you are doing haha)
**Please note that this does not enable the "Call/Dial" app to show up in your applications, it simply allows calls to be passed to a Sip dialer such as SipDroid**
I just got an A100 the other day and installed Talkatone. I thought that it integrated with People like it does on my android phone. After reading your post, I tried it out. Talkatone has the "phone intercept" options but nothing happens when you click on a number in People. However, if you have the "intercept sms" option in Talkatone enabled, clicking on a number in People will start Talkatone for sms. Looks like it is dependent on the phone.apk.
However, for Talkatone, you don't really need the People app. Talkatone displays your "people" in the Contacts tab so it is easy to dial out directly from the app. Overall Talkatone works pretty good with Google Voice on the A100, both sending and receiving calls.

Thanks for the tips, i will check out talkatone, but for now the "People" app works great the way it is suppose to. its always nice to try something different though too! +1
**Edit: I installed talkatone, it works wonderfully well with the Atrix Phone.apk, when you are in the People app, when you click a number to dial, it will prompt you for what you want to use to complete the action, first pick Call(Phone), don't pick Talkatone or SipDroid, then it will prompt you again to complete the action using either Call (Phone) or Talkatone- it should immediately bring up the Talkatone dialer and begin the call. To eliminate these steps, just set the check box to always use the methods on both prompts. First prompt just choose Call/Phone.apk - Second Prompt choose Talkatone. Now when you click a number in People in will automatically call in Talkatone ** Thanks notjustafone for the recommendation of Talkatone!!
