I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced these problems:
With the Qtek 9000 ROM:
When using the Camera app, pressing any navigation button takes a picture (instead of zooming or changing modes).
With the new Exec 1.13.88 ROM:
The phone randomly places people on hold and then takes them off hold, then puts them on hold again.
With both:
Sometimes when using file explorer, selecting an item with the stylus stops opening folders and files but acts as if CRTL is being pressed.
I find the Qtek 9000 ROM is probably the most stable, but the camera problem is annoying.
Hi Khashim
I've a Qtek 9000 ROM, and my right/left navigation buttons do not take picture, but actually zoom.. and up/down change modes :?:
I use Resco explorer and no problem at all, too... :?
That's really weird, because when I switched to the new Exec ROM the problem disappeared, and when I switched back, it reappeared. Anybody have any idea on what could be the problem?
RE
Hi!
I'm using the QTEK 9000 set
I do not have probelems like you mentioned.
My left/right arrows changes modes and turn on/off the camera light and up/down arrows zoom
hmmm.......I am going to try and figure out if it's a problem with something in my ExtROM.
But also, is anyone having the problem where the GPRS icon does not show on the today screen, but shows when you open up any program that shows the start bar, like navigating to "Programs".
I just tried a hard reset without installing anything from the ExtROM and I still face the camera problem. I don't believe it's a hardware issue becuase the Exec ROM works fine.
I use the standard 9000 Extended_Rom, less than 500k... no problem..
Even with the GPRS/UMTS icon, they never disappeared from the top toolbar :?:

Did you install GPRS Monitor? After I did the clean hard reset (with no GPRS Monitor) I do not face the GPRS Icon problem anymore. The problem I do face now is that of the camera.
Nope, no GPRS monitor... as my job pay for my communications, I don't care
Only one last problem for you, then... :?
RE
Me too. NO problem with disappearing GPRS icon on top bar. Do not have GPRS Monitor install.
Alright, I am pretty sure GPRS monitor causes the disappearing icon problem. I had a patch installed that allowed me to disconnect GPRS from the icon (and display time connected). But I tested that out, and that surely doesn't cause the problem.
So now..........why does my camera not work properly with the Qtek ROM...
New O2 rom
I had imate rom and now I ve installed the new o2 rom.
Finally the delay answering the calls is solved.
the system is much faster and it seems very stable..

Hi
on my new Orange SPV m2000, i configured the keylock to lock everything but the power on/off switch. But.. when i receive an SMS, an eMail or when Pocket outlook wants to connect to the GPRS network (and wants to show me the little bubble saying that i'ts about to do so) then the keylock is being turend off (=the SPV is being turned on) and i can use all the keys and the touchscreen.
since i often receive SMS when my phone is min my pocket, i don't really like this kind of behaviour..
doesn't anyone have this problem too? to me it seems like a basic windows mobile problem the way things are being made... or is it just a configuration fault of mine?
any help is appreciated...
cheers
pascal
Same prob with XDAII
Don't want to hijack your thread... but i'm having the same problem with SMS.
But also, every time i receive a phonecall, the phone unlocks, and does not lock itself again. So if i have the phone on silent, it unlocks in my pocket, and then my phone starts calling people by mistake until i lock it again.
I enabled the lock all buttons except power button option but this doesn't work. The only additional software i have running on the phone is TomTom2 and Towa's patch if that makes any difference. ROM ver 1.60.50.
Any solutions? I may otherwise have to get rid of my trusty XDAII otherwise
Thanks!
Sorry, I dont have a solution, but my phone does the same.
Its as if the phones were designed on a desk, and no one bothered to try them in the real world.
Ashby
Hmm... I don't have this problem on my XDAII and I don't think I ever had it. What ROMs are you XDAII peeps using? Standard UK O2 ROMs like me? (I'm up to 1.72 now.)
Wonder why my XDAII wouldn't have this problem but others might, unless it's a ROM problem.
This is a known problem with the Blue Angel, but not with the XDAII that I've heard of.
hi
i think there is alternative way to minimize problem. you can set your password for your phone, then when there is incoming call or message, even though it will unlock all button, but before you use it, the unit will ask you password. so at least you will not miss call anyone anymore.
I'm having the same problem with my Pda2k.
I've disabled all but the power button. And I do have a password on the device.
I've had the following scenarios happen;
Scenario 1:
Every time I receive an SMS, the device powers up, waits for the password - If I don't hear it it then proceeds to stay on and drain the battery.
It just doesn't seem to go back to sleep.
BTW - the unit gets very warm...
Scenario 2:
Even when I do hear it, I often find that the unit is frozen - ie I try to type in the password, the asterisks show on screen but it seems nowhere after that. I'm running Pocket Plus, which has had problems with HTC devices - but I'm not running the today plugin at the moment.
Soft Reset is the only option.
Tom
Yes, i think we are all in the same boat here. The problem is that the device wasnt designed to be in your pocket (I know.. I know.. Pocket PC). Problem being, on recieving sms/mms/call the gsm part of the device sends the wake siganl to the O/S, causing the device to power on.
The simple solution as mentioned above is to lock the keys (password) but again as mentioned this can cause alot of power loss because the device will not sleep if your leg keeps trying to enter the password (in your pocket). I'm guessing that why so many people tend to use the belt clips with these devices. :?
I'm sure it will be in the next feature request so that only the LED indicator will change and flash if chosen but until then we all have to look like geeks with belt clips.
If anyone knows of a registry hack or app that can stop the wake signal form annoying us all the please post.
Workaround
Hi there,
Same problem on my 9090. But I had this on my former crappy iPAQ 6340 too.
Here's a workaround which works for me:
Go to "Start -> Settings -> Sounds & Notifications"
then select tab "Notifications"
in the "Event"-dropdown select "Messaging: New text message" and uncheck "Display message on screen". Uncheck for "Phone: Voice mail" and "Phone: Missed call" too.
BTW: The warming device is just a feature: you don't have to buy a pocket hand warmer in winter!
Greetz,
Bofo
Or use a 3rd party software like the ones described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=15573
after installing ozvga and trying it out i have the following problems.
now in regular sevga mode the number keys in the phone app are missing
in ozvga mode the volume button is missing trom the top. and the slider ont he side controls something else now.
any help in fixing these ??
thanks in advance team.
i've searched the forum for hours and hours. just talk of how to install big phone. also i found a thread where everyone was asking that first question. no asnwer.
OzVga problem...
I have the same problem, with a little investigation this is what I turned up. Our OzVga problem has to do with the volume/speaker icon not coming through in VGA mode. The slider seems to be attached to the first icon on the taskbar to the left of the clock. Which in this case is the signal strength/phone icon - which incidentally doesn't display properly on my phone . Which means the slider toggles the phone message box open at the moment. I think the problem has to do with cemail.vol not having a cemail.96.vol counterpart and the phone then gets confused... Helmi or Buzzdev could you please look into this problem or alternatively could someone with a working version of OzVga please post a link to a working version of the cemail.96.vol file to this thread.
Thanks.
what about the phone buttons, then you return to normal res mode, are the phone buttons missing?
Screen buttons...
No I didn't seem to be missing the phone buttons when I switched to SeVGA, however I got so annoyed about this problem that I switched to Helmi's WM6 v1.1 ROM. So far I haven't had any of these problems with it, though I do miss HTC's task manager...
the phone buttons problem i fixed finally, i just had to uninstall vj's bigphone
yeah i'm silly.
the audio slider problem sucks though, i really like ozvga mode, but the problem renders it unusable for me.
Was running ATT WM5 and all was well. Flashed to Offical ATT WM6 using SPL2.1. Now I'm at ROM 3.62.502.3 1.54.07.00 32.86u.7020.23H. At this point, still ok. Installed PPTFix to remap button 5 to Voice Speed Dial and setup Plantronics head set. Still ok. Added some email accounts and a customized background. All ok. Synced Contacts, Notes, etc. Still ok. Decided I didn't like the Comm and Battery Icons on the bottom tray and ran MobileRegistryEditor and changed values from 1 to 0. Still ok the rest of afternoon and last night.
Got up this morning, did a soft reset, and everything went to hell. Booted normally up to the green Windows screen, then hung there for 3 or 4 minutes. Finally got to the Today screen, but all apps run like honey on a cold morning. I can use VoiceCommand to place calls and I can Dial out Manually, but if I tap my contacts button, no contacts show up. Email won't send/receive, but I can get incoming calls. Today screen shows correct appointments and task, but tap Calandar and they don't show up there.
Before I do anything else, I wanted to get some ideas on where to start.
Pretty sure hiding the comm manager was your problem
I'm pretty sure hiding the comm manager icon was your problem, I've heard there are numerous problems when you hide the comm manager icon. Change that key back and see if your problems go away.
KarhU said on the ROM benchmark :
6. Never hide the WirelessManager Tray Icon at the bottom.
Don't believe me?
Try it and feel the difference.
This is the key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\WirelessMgr]
"Keep"=dword:00000000 ;<--- (dword:00000000 to hide and dword:00000001 to show)
Yeah, I've seen this issue in many of the recent WM6 ROM Threads. It's a true shame, since it means we're stuck with having to keep the bottom tray visible. I (for one) do not like that waste of screen space.
Too bad the fix for this anomaly is so elusive.
-pvs
Thanks for the help. It looks like the Comm Mgr icon may have been the problem. My 8525 wouldn't connect to the Internet, Email or (thru Active Sync) to my desktop. Finally went into Settings/System/Clear Storage and it completely reloaded WM6. Reinstalled all my extra apps and things are fine. Of course I haven't tried to edit the registry and get rid of those bottom icons, and I don't think I'm going to. If anyone finds a sure method to get rid of the bottom system tray, please post.
Hi!
I have installed both Gyrator 2 and Galarm 1.2.3 in my blackstone.
When the alarm rings both snooze actions when 'when device turned down' and 'when you shake the device' do not work.
I know that it is because of Gyrator.
Is there a fix on this?
g
Hi!
I think Version 1.03 of Galarm is working good with shake for closing program also with screen off
FYI. There's a new version - 1.2.4. But same problem, tilt sensor feature doesn't work.
I 've heard that this problem is solved if you differentiate some settings in the Gyrator application.
Anyone with a hint on this?
g
Hey guys, there's a new version GAlarm 1.4. The tilt sensor feature is working great!!
http://www.ageye.de/index.php?s=download
the new version seems working ok.
thank you
g
The last app I installed was Galarm. I did this last night.
Since then I have had a few problems with my HD.
1) twice since midnight last night I have used TF3D to access settings > communications, before loading the communications screen the device hangs, then I hear the default beep randomly and untill I perform a soft reset.
2) Soft key menus have been very buggy all through the OS. Most noticable in Opera, and Coreplayer. Taping the soft key menu results in just an outline being shown while the actual menu is transparent.
While installing Galarm it asked me if it could fix a known bug, I allowed it to. But am now wondering if this could have been the cause?
I'm not blaming Galarm per se, but it is the last piece of software that I installed. Has anyone else had similer problems?

Yes I get the same menu problems, if you press up or down then the menu choices appear but often vey corrupted. I stopped using Galarm for a couple of days and I never had the problem, I used it this mornning and my menus got corrupted again. At the same time I get my start menu appearing blank (transparent). I'm going to download another clock program and use it for a month then I'll switch to Galarm for a definitive test.
Hi Guys,
I'm using the latest 3VO build and I just received a Bluetooth dongle for my laptop that I configured to connect with my Dash. I've established a successful connection between my Dash and laptop, so I can use ActiveSync and send/receive files using BT.
But the two problems I'm still having are these:
1) If I try to turn off BT from Comm Manager, my Dash just stalls (the little circular thingy in the middle of the screen just keeps turning and turning to no effect...)
2) In Bluetooth Explorer: I see that it always stays in "Searching..." mode. What's up with that?
Any help is always appreciated!
Btw, I love this ROM and love my Dash.

If you go through the 3vo thread you will notice that some users have been experiencing issues with BT, post on the thread or PM ookba and see if he has found a fix for this
I just installed the 3VO ROM on my S620 and noticed the same problem with the comm manager when trying to turn off BT, but I also found that the ccomm sliding panel on the home screen works perfectly. Just two clicks up from the clock panel then click right until you see the Bluetooth icon and press the action button to toggle on/off.
