I received an XDA IIs as a gift and before using it I looked up on Google to see if it was possible to instal WM5 on it...and I found your this great community, thanks for all your articles, they're precious.
I upgraded the device following the detailed procedure found on BlueAngel WIKI, and I have one big problem that is getting me crazy.
This is my Device Data info:
Code:
PH20B 0 B ITA A STARM404 1.40.04 0 4 1.40.199 1.13.00 13.00
Model No: PH2OB
Minor version Model No: O B
Language Code: ITA (Italian)
Minor: A
Operator code: STARM404
This is the code of how your device was sold as, not what SIM you are using.
ROM Version: 1.40.04
Minor: 0 4
Extended ROM version: 1.40.199
Radio Version 1.13.00
Minor: 13.00
Obviously that info pertains to the device before the upgrade to WM5.
After installing WM5, I noticed the device was very very slow when using some menus, I looked on Wiki and the forum and found out I had to disable some sounds. And that worked.
But I noticed that sound is completely NOT working, after turning off the checkboxes in the sound settings I solved the slowness problem but I can't selectively enable sounds, it simply doesn't work.
I looked around the forum and I noticed that it is a problem related to the wavedev.dll. I downloaded a couple of wavedev.dll and tried them, but none of them enabled sounds on my device.
I would really love to use the device with WM5 but without sounds it is useless (mainly for phone functionalities).
Is there a solution for my device? If not, where can I find some wavedev.dll files to try?
Thanks for your help.

Hi,
I have been trying to plough through the messages here, but am still confused about where to start. Most of the following is probably FAQ stuff, but I cannot find much on the Wiki, but will happily add something for others.
I have the UK Orange SPV M5000 flashed with the latest Orange Rom providing:
Rom Version: 1.30.90 WWE
Rom Date: 02/24/06
Radio Version: 1.03.00
Protocol version: 42.36.P8
ExtROM version: (none) (skipped the install).
What is the best stable ROM to install to start off with? I gather that it seems to be a toss up between the QTeck and Dopol. I gather one might be missing some apps - I am quite keen to retain the voice call app, dump MSN and stick on Skype.
I have also just plugged in a 2Gb Sandisk Ultra II card with a view to start filling it with various apps and data and would appreciate any advice on the following:
- Recomendations on a Registry Editor so I can run through the recommended tweaks.
- Install a decent task manager - any recommendations?
- Install some backup software - any recommendations?
- Find and install some some sort of connection manager.
- Find and install some some sort of memory manager.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
OK, I have worked out how to upgrade the Radio ROM (to 1.10.3) and have been reading up on cooking your own extended ROM.
Bearing in mind I'm on UK Orange, what you add/subtract from the current Orange ROM to improve things?
Radio Rom 1.03 does have a few problems from what I read. The main trouble I had was when answering phone I couldn't hear anyone for a few seconds.
I am a UK Orange user and upgraded to Radio v1.09.00 and found the answer problem solved, better reception and slightly better battery performance.
Since then I am trying out the Dopod Firmware, the whole lot with Radio 1.11.00, so far no problems.
Hi,
Thanks for the response. I'm still trying to get the hang of the phone so will leave it a few more days before I play with the ROMs further.
My biggest problem is answering the calls when it is open on my desk - if I pick it up, unplug the USB, close it and then answer the answer button on the spine just doesn't seem to work. Actually it doesn't seem that reliable at the best of times.
Ultimately I'll sort out a BT headset, but was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem.
Upgrading Orange SPV M5000 where to start
I have gone through some of the postings on this great device , and would appreciate if the
DOPOD ROM
Rom 1.30.111 of 04 06 06 WWE
Radio 1.09.00
Protocol 42. 42. P8
ExtRom 1. 30. 230 WWE
Will suit my device with
Operator Version 7. 130. 1. 174
Rom 1. 30. 90 of 02 24 06 WWE
Radio 0. 00. 00
Protocol 42. 37 P8
ExtRom 1. 30. 174. WWE
I will be much grateful and whrer can I get this downloaded.
Thanks
Hi,
I got my MDA Pro last week, there was some weird problems with it where it would drop the signal rate everytime someone called.
When I called T-Mobile I was told I should update it, which I did...then MMS functionallity disapeared etc..
So my question now is, which ROM is the best to use with it...and where can I find it?
Cheers.
Hi Jeuk,
I followed the t-mobile site and downloaded the update (it ends up coming from some t-mobile subdomain on 3rd part site, can't remember the URL, sorry, but hunt around)
I've found it great, fast and stable (as long as you reset when it says it's installing the customisations - you can pick and choose the cabs you install, i'd recommend the mms/gprs settings more than anything else - search on here for the t-mobile cabs, or get the extended storage unlocker and install from there using total commander (also search here for these things - this site is a great resource). You don't see many complaints from t-mobile users here, I suspect they've actually pulled out all the stops and been one of the most reliable resellers of this phones.
but my GPRS is great, coverage is fantastic, bluetooth profiles all in there (including a2dp [sp?]) for bluetooth stereo with a moto hs820), fast running, few resets. All I have of the t-mobile branding is the awful colours on the case of the device. that horrible pink-tinged plastic down the button strip. really. I mean, really.
maybe I should add:
ROM: 1.20.32 WWE
ROM date: 11/16/05
Radio: 1.06.00
Proto: 42.40.P8
ExtROM: (I erased the extended rom.. crazy radical reinterpretation of READ-ONLY HTC)

Would you like to help me build a single CAB file for T-mobile settings?
I would like to take a stock WM5 install, and then include the Qtek dialer and T-mobile settings.
This should provide a very clean build.
Anyone who knows how to build a settings CAB file, your input would be greatly received!!
Latest TMobile ROM
In the latest TMobile ExtROM has anyone done a breakdown of what each of the CAB files does? ESpecially interested in those that configure the MMS settings and GPRS
Thanks
Re: Latest TMobile ROM
I found the thread that describe the cabs in the 1.12.126 rom, here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=32839
i'd imagine most of the names and descriptions are the same.

Hi,
Thanks for all the replies, still having problems after the "latest greatest" update. I got the update from http://t-mobile.iris-global.com/
The MDA still hangs up on 80% of the calls, especially if you spin the screen before answering.
ROM version: 1.30.114 WWE
ROM date: 04/13/06
Radio Version: 1.10.03
Protocol Version: 42.44.P8
ExtRom Version: 1.30.232 WWE
Cheers
Hello Guys,
As you can see I'm new here. I'm from Brazil.
I would really appreciate you to help me - I've just registered in this forum and realized there are many different threads for similar subjects, and so I've got confused on what are the latest best practices to upgrade XDA Orbit to WM6.
I've bought a new O2 XDA Orbit (Artemis) on a Import GSM store in US and then brought it to Brazil where I installed a SIM card of TIM Brazil Network, and so I can conclude that even showing T-Mobile splash screen at POST, this is a SIM Unlocked Device.
After using WM5 for a period, I had started realizing some "bugs" on my device, and then started trying to get support from O2. (For example).:
- It always get GPRS instead of EDGE.
- GPS update does not work
- Wi-Fi not working as expected (sometimes it's necessary to reset the device to use Wi-Fi).
I've tried many times to register my device and get updates from O2 site(Asia, UK, etc) when I found a guy from O2 Germany who told me my device was originate there, after checking my IMEI - He also told me their WM ROMs are always German and guessed the store has replaced the ROM, considering my device has the English WM5 version.
I've tried running hard reset sometimes - it minimizes some of the problems but other.
So I would appreciate you to provide me some guidance to upgrade my device from WM5 to WM6. There are also many other friend of mine in Brazil who will be really happy to receive this information.
Here it goes some Device Information.:
Model: ARTE200
ROM version: 1.13.110.1 WWE
ROM Date: 9/22/06
Radio Version: 02.49.90
Protocoll Version: 4.1.13.25
ExtROM version: 1.13.110.101
OMAP850 / 201MHz / 64MB RAM / 128 MB Flash
Please do not hesitate to ask me further details.
I'd be very thankful for your help!
Kind Regards
SlyBrazil

just download the USPL , and run it while your device is connected to the pc. Just read the beginning of the thread and you'll found out how to do it.
After running the USPL, just download any WM6 rom you find HERE, and flash it to your phone.
Please don't ask me which WM6 rom is the best. Cause I think all cookers did a great job with their ROMS. I have to say, just try several and keep the one you like. Cause it's not because some WM6 rom is good for me, that it will be good for your needs too!!
Good Luck and have fun
Bye

You are in the right place. You just have to use the search option and everything you want is here.

Model: ARTE200
ROM version: 3.4.207.2 ger
ROM Date: 4/18/07
Radio Version: 02.88.90
Protocoll Version: 4.1.13.41
ExtROM version: 3.4.207.102
OMAP850 / 201MHz / 64MB RAM / 128 MB Flash
is my radio version the newest?
Thank you all for the time spent and answers!
I've just Installed Artemis 2.1 Touch FULL ROM from Meschle and found it very good! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1506429
I'm gonna use it for a while and provide you some feedback but, at first I can tell you it's a great ROM - there are some things I was trying to configure such as.:
1. Configure customized and time-based profiles - I haven't found it at the default HTC Home Profile software.
2. Configure EDGE connections instead of GPRS - I have also double checked at my Network Provider (TIM Brazil) - my line is EDGE enabled and my region is covered - but it only gets GPRS.
I would appreciate your opinion regarding the questions above... but thanks anyway!
I'll also take a look at some addictional CABS from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=325290 .. if you have suggestions, it would be welcome!
Many Thanks!
SlyBrazil!
Hi Guys
wonder if anyone can help me? I've recently put on swiftblade 7 rom and to put it simply, its awesome however, for reasons I won't bore you with, I need to use my external GPS. So I paired up the devices fine, went into settings and pointed windows HARDWARE PORT to the BTGPS port and exited settings. I then go back into External GPS and its defaulted back to (none) again....
any ideas why it keeps defaulting and not changing? Its like its missing a "save" function or something ...
Operator: SwiftBL v7 full
Rom: 1.93.405.1 WWE
date: 09/21/2008
Radio: 1.00.25.05
Proto: 52.29.25.12h

Hi Monty... if I am not mistaken, you need to set it to a Serial port for the external GPS to work.. Cheerz
correct. Already done - com0 (although, I have tried others and no success)
HI Swift, not sure if you were investigating this issue. Wouldn't bother now as I'm the only one that seems to have complained about it and my diamonds just gone in the bin anyway (now using an Omnia, yes i can have music AND european maps for my satnav!).
Thanks for imo the best rom out there.
Hi everyone,
I have just encountered this problem yesterday and have tried extensively to rectify this problem on my Arte 100...
My messaging functions does not load. Even after I performed a backup restore, the messaging function still does not load/open. It seems like it has just gone missing for some reason.
My Arte 100 runs on RM Version 3.7.707.1 WWE
ROM Date 6/21/07
Radio Version 02.69.90
Protocol Version 4.1.13.30
ExtROM Version 3.6.707.101
So far, I have not done any major hacking... just installed the SDHC_Artemis when I expanded my memory card to 4Gig about 2 months back. This problem did not occur then but only now. 've searched extensively into the forum but couldn't find any clue or any topics relating to this...
Please help!
