May be a silly question, Use of USB Mobile Broadband SIM in TP2 for Data Access...

Hi Folks,
This might be a really dull question, but I have a 1GB monthly allowance data SIM for my USB Mobile Broadband stick for my laptop. Could I use this in an Unlocked TP2 for data access? Apparently the VF TP2s are also unlocked.
Just wondering...
Sam
yes...as long you use the rigth connection settings for that sim card in the tp2.
Thats interesting..... This means that one could use a laptop mobile broadband package that always has more data allowance. I had a free 1GB monthly allowance USB stick with a phone package. However you would have to flick back for making phone calls which could be a pain ??
Thanks,
Sam

yes if the sim card is only data enabled then you need to put back the voice enabled one to make calls...alternative would be to get a dual sim holder.
i have done it several times for a client with several sim cards of all kinds . as long you know the connections setting for the sim card provider then it can be used in any phone that supports data.
Now I am learning something....
So what dual sim holder would you recommend for something like the TP2? Apparently some allow you to swap using the phone's menu although some will not work in a smartphone.
Also how easy is it to get the connection settings... I use BT Mobile ie VF?
Again, a bigg thank you....

Change from GRPS to EDGE on P3300

Hi to all
I have very strange problem with my Artemis device
First of all i'm using 3.21.90 radio rom and Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM version from Shady (10x a lot to that rom)
Everything is working fine but my Cell Phone is connecting to the internet only with GPRS and not using EDGE technology.
Someone will say that is from the operator but if i move my SIM card to HD on the same location is connecting to EDGE .
BTW sometimes in very strange locations my phone is connecting to EDGE .
How can i force my device to use EDGE technology ?
Any help will be appreciated

[Q] Data features on the HTC M8 dual Sim

Dears,
Am in the process of researching/buying an HTC M8 dual SIM phone, can someone please advise if it is feasible to STOP Mobile DATA on a certain line (Ex: Line1) and ENABLE Mobile Data on the other line (Ex: Line2).
Thanks for all your help.

Bad dual sim management
Better late than never, right?
You find "dual sim management" in the phone's settings.
This is where you can activate and deactivate each sim and where you set the preferred sim for mobile data.
So, yes, you can easily switch the sim that's being used for mobile data.. However, the BIG restriction is, that the sim 2 radio only supports 2G (up to EDGE). So, in order to use high speed internet from the provider whose sim is located in slot 2 you actually have to swap the sim cards. Also, there's no way to automatically switch to the other network's mobile data in case you lose mobile data coverage on the preset network . You really have to tell the phone manually which network to use.
Another big issue for me is that I can't preset the network I use for calls. So, my sim 1 is for data only. sim 2 is for voice calls and texts. Remember: it has to be this way because only sim 1 supports 3G/4G. Now, when I initiate a call via voice or via my car's bluetooth unit the phone automatically tries to use sim 1 as the default for calls. I can't set it up to use sim 2 as the default call handler and there's no dialogue asking me which sim to use like when I dial manually. That's really bad, all other companies that offer dual sim phones have better management options in their software's settings.
I tried using alternative phone apps which give you the option of choosing a default sim for calls but this only works for voice-dialing; bluetooth still overrides the alternative dialer and always goes with the stock one.
I hope this helps - so actually I'd advice agaist the M8 dual sim despite it being beautiful and having really good hardware.

[Q] HTC Desire 816 dual

Hi everyone.
It's m'y first experience with Android on HTC device. I have two number with data plan so I want whether it's possible to switch between the two sim cards to go on Internet and how to do it.
Thanks
Only the first Sim slot connects with 3G so there's not much of a point for using snail paced data on second Sim.
that said, you can easily change "preferred data network" in "Dual Network Manager" section in settings.
Thann you for your seekfind but I don't have the option to choose a preferred network.

I don't know about 816d variant but generally 816 has this option in settings>Dual Network Manager. at the same place there is an option to turn on and turn off your sim slots. also, have you setup your Access point names(APNs) correctly for each sim card in mobile data section?
Yes the APN are good and I use both of them for internet, but for now to use internet with the second sim, I turn off me first one so I can't receive call anymore. My friend has a LG dual Sim too but his phone has a function to do it easily without turn off the first slot, maybe it's the same for HTC but I don't know how activate it.

Samsung S20 Ultra not mobile connection

I have recently got a software update on my Samsung S20 Ultra and have not been able to connect to the mobile network since. Both wifi and bluetooth work fine. I have tried a number of things including resetting the mobile setting, factory resetting the device and even re-flashing the device with the latest firmware but the mobile connection still doesn't work. When I access the service mode menu using '*#0011#' on the phone, I see the MIPI test fails on the SIM. Does any know how to fix the device so I can get a mobile network connection again ? Is the MIPI test failing related to the problem or is that just a red-herring ?
Exynos or Snapdragon Variant?
