Tv on the BA - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

i heard it was possible to watch tv on your BA..? is this true? if so what software should i download? thanks

if u want to stream it off your computer (assuming u have a tv tuner card) u need either windows media encoder 9, or video lan client.
Check out videohelp.com for tutorials on streaming tv over the internet. Just use your GPRS or WiFi to watch it, the same way you would using a laptop/computer.

You can also use ORB for this...

I know there are compact flash tv-tuners avail now...I wish there was either a SD/IO tv-tuner, or a way to use compact flash stuff on my 6600.

That would be great..
Right now I just get the highlights listening to BBC Five Live on my way to and from work..
If you have a TV card in your PC and can connect to your pc remotely over the web, you can use:
http://www.umediaserver.net
Works well, and you can change channels remotely using the TVChannelChanger asp page.
slingbox or orb
this is nice, I will try it, seems to be what I looking for a long time.

myplayer is your friend
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=501131
Mplayer
Mplayer is one of the best bits of software you can get for your Touch IMHO. Better quality video streams as well.
You can also try SPB TV.Really cool!
Also : the channer , web TV, and of course you can open many mms streams with your media payer
Another option is a Slingbox Pro and Slingplayer for WM. Although not free to buy there are no other monthly fee's after initial purchase as long as you have a good data bolt on. I couldn't do without mine. Love it!!

Search for old Gigabyte ppcs.. They have TV receivers on board.

[Q] DLNA in Xperia Play

Hi All,
Does Xperia Play support DLNA, because I see it as listed in gsmarena but nothing in Google on how to configure and stream via DLNA.
Anyone tried it and use DLNA to stream video / game / photos.
The phone is awesome but lack to HDMI or TV Out means the only option is to stream via DLNA if it supports, can someone confirm.

We have an app called Media Server ("Servidor de Medios" for me) and I believe it let's you play movies/music/images. I haven't tried it once since I stream directly from my PC to my PS3.
But forget about games, it's been discussed a lot that people is disappointed because we can't play our games in a bigger screen.
So yes, we have DLNA but it won't let you stream your screen. It'll let other devices connect to it and play media files on your phone.
Hi netorino,
Thanks for the reply, so we can stream movies and photos is it, that is still good enough.
Where I can try this app, I couldn't find it in the Android market.
I would want to try this and see how it works.

It's pre-installed. I'm not 100% sure on the english name but that should be it.
The way I do it on PC-PS3: Activate software on PC to let streaming. Go on PS3 and look for videos and search for new devices (every time) then it'll show me the hard drive and I'll browse through the folders.
I'm thinking it's the same thing. Open the software on the phone to activate it, it'll probably have some instructions on what to do. Hope it works for you!

You were right, it's just called media server
@maddy- which version of the play do you have?
Sent from my R800x using Tapatalk
Mine is Xperia Play R800i, it does not have either "Media Server" installed.
Is it only available in the US versions?
BTW, mine is an Unlocked from UK and running 2.3.4.

Used to be called Media Server (in 2.3.3) but now - for me at least on an unbranded/sim-free UK R800i on 2.3.4 - look for an App installed called Connected Devices
We can also stream to our phones (from say a WD TV Live, or a PC) - use "ES File Explorer" (lan - and search for your WD's IP) and stream via "VPlayer".
I use this method to stream .mkv files from my WD TV Live in my living room via my router to watch movies on my phone in my bedroom - works great .
The only issue I have is that vplayer is not free, and you can't stream via MoboPlayer (I don't think it buffers, it tries to download the whole movie). So if anyone knows any free media player that lets you strem (buffer) .mkv files then let me know.
I you want to stream from your phone to another device there are various free apps you can use; BubbleUPNP, Connected devices (preinstalled), and softMedia player
Thanks
there is a Connected Devices thing, I will give it a try today.
Try this http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/produ...our-images-in-a-big-screen-with-vscreens-com/
but you can only view images and videos..
It is great, but if the TV does not have the WiFi then it wont work fine, but for Laptop and to stream to desktop computers this is great indeed.

Help....want to stream video from PC to N7

I want to be able to stream varies video files (avi, mkv, etc) to my N7 from my PC while away from home. Tried looking to see if this was already talked about but couldn't see anything.
Tried Plex however unsuccessful in setting it up? Any links or suggestions or best app's or tutorial on setting this up? UPnP/DLNA or FTP (old school way)? Plex or BubbleUPnP or something else?
FYI....running Windows 7 x64 at home. Have N7 connected to my i9100 most of the time. Have newer Netgear WNDR3700-100NAS Wireless Gigabit Open Source Router at home. Also my N7 is not rooted.
Thank you in advance.
Have you tried orb or playon?
Have you tried VLC, or XBMC?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Or Skifta
Just use a rdp app, splash top or any other ones

If you enable file sharing you can use es file explorer and dice player to stream from your PC but it has to be on the same network. I've been watching movies this way since I got my nexus and it works great. There's no lag or having to wait for buffer.
You should just go download qloud video server and then thank me after... I guarantee its exactly what you're looking for... easy to setup and works perfect ... seriously don't know why more people don't recommend this!
Best solution to the OPs question is Plex
Or dice VPN
Dice player will play videos over a shared folder.
Did you try Zumocast?
I'd say Plex too, don't really like Orb's interface, but if the OP was having issues setting up Plex (a very easy process in my experience) I would think that they will have similar issues with any other service.
Does Subsonic handle video? If so, Subsonic = instant win... I use it for music. Couldn't ask for much more than what Subsonic offers.
Note: It's free for basic use, but for mobile use you need to donate a few bucks to unlock a key to use it with mobile devices as well. I donated like 15 bucks. EASILY worth it. I hook up my N7 to some 2.0 speakers on my deck and stream from my server downstairs.
I use BSplayer stream video from NAS

i dunno about App, but the old school way is indeed the easiest way. set up FTP server in ur PC, open and forward FTP port from your router, use ES File Explorer to add the WAN IP address as FTP server.
of course, 2 issues:
- if u got Dynamic IP (standard home cable/satellite broadband) then u need to update it every now and then
- i cant guarantee it can "stream" if using a FTP setup.
the alternative is of course using ur router, setup a Virtual server, and share the windows machine. if u set it up securely and use the correct ports, then it could be the better solution. but im not sure how to configure it with Netgear.
Dice player have built in
Smb , ftp , http support with external sub files.
No rooting is required.
Plex is fairly simple to setup. Need to make sure you UPnP on your router, if not then set the default port in the firewall on the router for the app. After you install, launch your browser or right click the icon in the task tray. Web address is http://computerIP:32400/manage. You will then tell it where your TV, Movies, Pictures, and Music folder is and let it sit for awhile depending so it can gather all the metadata.
I have been using Plex for over a year now and it just keeps getting better. I use it on all my devices when I am out and use Plex Media on my desktop connected to the TV or stream to xbox on my office TV.
Also create an account with plex forums and you can use it to log in in the web GUI and it will make it easier to connect to your N7 while out of the house.
If you have other question on setting it up, PM me and I'll try my best to help out.

I set this up yesterday and it works beautifully. It's supposed to be for Motorola phones but you can get a patched version from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1276410
Get the Patched-Rotation file
Setup is as easy as making an account and logging in to it on your PC and device. You also have to download the PC software from the zumocast site. I've tested this away from home and it works great. Streams videos, music, and basically opens any file up (like documents, pictures..etc)
Plex is best...
Ps3 media server/universal media server->mediahouse->dice or MX player and your good to go
---edit
never mind I forgot you mention away from home
