How to Cleanly Uninstall IIWPO - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hi There,
I'm having problem after doing an un-Install of the IIWPO program.
I've checked and ensured that ALL files and registry settings are removed.
But it keeps giving a pop-up whenever the device is turned on.
The error says:
"Notification Error - Cannot Execute \Windows\IIWPO_main.exe"
Worst of all, I thought this error will go away after a ROM flash.
But it didn't even after I re-flashed the ROM for an upgrade.
Please kindly advice on any work around.
Cheers

Restore Error

Today, my Qtek 9090 main and backup battery ran out and my machine
when back to the factory settings. Whe I got into the office, the first
thing that I did was perform a restore from yesterday's backup. All
proceeded well, but it got to the end and told me that a number of files
were
open on the device and if I closed them, I could try again.
I went on to the device and went throug the memory settings and closed all
the "Running Programs" except the ActiveSync program. This still did not
close any of the open file, so I skipped them and rebooted the device.
Enclosed a screenshot of error. I could not enclose it since the server did
not accept it. Anybody interested I can send the screenshot via email.
Why does the restore application not automatically close the require files
when it need to?
How can I force the open files closed on the device so that the restore will
work fine?
Last post was mine, Sorry, logged in as guest.
I managed to upload a screenshot of error. Sorry fo multiple posts.
I suspect that it's the phone application. The only problem is that you cannot shut it down! Even without putting in the pin number or putting it on flight mode I get the same errors. Anybody know how to force shut down the phone application?

permissions problem installing tom Comm manager8

Hi friends.. I downloaded the Tom Commmanger8 from the forums but have problems installing the cab file. When I install the cab file, it fails saying -
"Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions. "
I am running the installation in normal working mode.. when the phone is started up.
Is there a separate admin mode in which I can install the cab file ??
Please help. My comm manager right now shows just one button.
Thanks.
maybe your existing comm manager is running when you try to install the new one? you can see running programs in settings/system/memory/running programs.
or you can soft reset your device and then try to install before you do anything else.
Killing Comm manager worked. It installed fine without any problems or complaints.. I now have the comm manager working fine.
But I wonder how the error it showed me and the actual problem are related..
when a program is running it "locks" some files. when you try to install a new version you try to overwrite those locked files. and you dont have the permission for this (that's why they are locked). you end the running program, and the lock is gone and you can delete/overwrite/change those files.
of course it would be possible to make a better error message like "this file is used by a running process (process_name). please end this process before trying again". but well, it's never done.
the message you got was actually very true and it allowed me to find the reason with my first guess
my solution
I had the same problem, when I tred to install it to device. But when I installe dot StorageCard, it was succesfull withou any problem. And it works,so...
The important point is here to install "8 Comm man" directly after sw-reset!!!
Then the installation works!! I tested it several times.

certificate error when running any unsigned apps...

Help!
I was messing around with the Ubuntu on Rhodium stuff that's posted in the Android sub-forum and I think something got corrupted/overwritten on my phone...
I extracted all the files on to a freshly formatted card and ran haret and everything worked file and I eventually got to the Ubuntu desktop. Then I did a soft reset to get back to WM and then the problems started.
I cannot run any unsigned apps whether they are installed on the storage card or internal memory. Whenever I try and run an app I get an error saying "The file blah cannot be opened either it is not signed with a trusted certificate...".
I cannot get back into Android or Ubuntu coz haret is unsigned too.
I cannot even install new apps! When I run the cab file, I get the usual "This program is from an unknown publisher..." and when I select yes for continue it immediately comes up with "Installation of blah was unsuccessful."
Time for a hard reset? I'd really prefer not to if anyone can suggest a better way of getting my phone back to how it was.

Tried installing this?
As I said in my original post, I cannot install any CABs that come from "Unknown Publishers" too and it seems that TP2-AppUnlock is one of those.
Thanks for trying,
R.
there is a setting somewhere for this. i saw it the other day while setting up a new rom.pretty sure
same problem
I have encountered the exact same issue...except that for me it occurred after booting back into WM after trying out the latest android build. Anyone have a solution?

Hi there,
Have you tried the "Security configuration Manager" mentioned in the thread linked to above?
I can't test it coz I haven't broken my phone again since the initial issue but for future reference I'd like to know if it cures the problem.
Hope this helps,
Richard
Yes i've tried security configuration manager but it still wouldn't work. Does doing the hard rest work? Thanks for the help
Yes, hard reset works.
I've used it on two occasions to fix this problem.

[Q] i need help with emulators

hi i have a htc touch pro2 from us cellular and im having a problem running emulators on my phone. Ive tried running now both the pocketgba and the pocketgnuboy and i keep getting the same error for both. The error is "The file 'Pocketgnuboy' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the Proble persists, try reinstaling or restoring the file." Ive saved both of them to my SD card and im not sure if thats the problem.
So if anyone can help and show me what to do to fix this problem and how to do install etc. then it would be greatly appreciated thankxx..
Thread moved to correct section.
I'm pretty sure others will help out soon with advice re. app unlocking (or whatever it is called on modern devices), or sdkcerts or similar, however that error message rings a bell for a different reason... On my previous phone I was using a util to alter shortcut's properties (sorry, it was a while ago now, but the specifics won't matter.) Upon seeing the error msg, I was initially convinced I had somehow restored the phone to it's original status of not trusting unsigned CABs, or not allowing certain software. HOWEVER, I eventually noticed that running the EXEs directly (File Explorer/Resco Explorer/Total Commander) meant the apps would work fine, it was just the start menu's shortcuts that gave that error, but not even on all shortcuts.
Short version, while you wait for a more knowledgeable person to come along and guide you through the more likely/common issues, is try navigating to \program files\YOUR APP NAME\your_app_name.exe , run it. If the program works fine, all you'll need to do is navigate to \windows\start menu\ and delete the non-functioning shortcut, and create a new one.

[Q] "Apllication not installed" Error

I guess that would be the Error message translated to English.
Everytime I try to upgrade a programm via the packet manager, I get this Error. It does not occur if I install a new program or if I install/upgrade anything via the market.
With the help of google I found out that I should delete the "smdl2tmp1.asec" on the sdcard, but this file simply does not exist, I even looked for it with the Terminal emu as su.
Also I changed the install options from external to automatic, doesn't help either.
My ROM is CM7.0.3
Any ideas how to fix this?
Is it possible to get an error message that is a little more helpful?
Thanks in advance
(I can actually just uninstall the application and then install the new version, but that way I lose all my settings, which is rather annoying)
