M2000 v XDAIIs and COM1 - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

I have recently purchased a cable, from pc-mobile.com, to connect my Orange M2000 to a Garmin Etrex GPS, but the sotware (OziExplorer, GPS Tuner, VitoNavigator, etc.) just keeps saying that no data is being received (incoming beams have been disabled).
The cable was advertised as being suitable for an XDAIIs and I was wondering if anybody knows of any differences between the devices/COM ports.
My other thought (though it seems a little silly) is that the Garmin only outputs at 4800 baud and that the M2000 is unable to work at such a slow speed. The slowest selectable speed in Active Sync is 19200.
ROM Version: 1.31.00 WWE

Hi
Try disabling "receive all incoming beams" in "settings" -> "Connections".
Have fun

Mann, your speed at 4800 is correct. It may be a faulty cable, it shouldnt be too hard to check using the pinouts for rx, tx and ground. The only other thing is if you have an external keyboard driver loaded this will need disabling as most are on by default.

Sorted...
This morning I have received an e-mail from the people at pc-mobile:
"WE have managed to get hold of an XDAIIs and discovered that one of the ground pins used with XDA1 and XDA2 (and GXDAP) had been used for something else and therefore GXDAP cannot be used.
We are changing all GXDAP ONCE AGAIN (this happened from XDA1 to XDA2) so that it is compatible with all 3 versions."
In conclusion if anybody needs to connect an Orange M2000 to a Garmin e-trex have a look at www.pc-mobile.com.
It may have taken a month and a half, but at least there is now a solution!

Headset and Ports/GPS - - wierd drop outs

OK here's a strange one. Orange SPV M2000 with Navman Smart ST V3 amd a Holux GPS cradle (which uses the com port on bottom of the phone so its hard wired).
Since installing I have been through a process of elimination to find out why the software reports NO GPS DATA occasionally, especially when it had to do anything that involves loading something, i.e. a speedcam warning or voice command approaching a roundabout. Tried the lot. Disabling ports/activesync etc.
Then one day it dawned on me that it wasn't happening on a long drive North from London. The only thing that was different was I didn't have the headset plugged in!
I've tested this over the last few weeks or so, and yes, headset plugged in means loss of data from the GPS intermittently.
I installed TOM TOM 5 from a friend and low and behold it seems to be doing the same. In TOM TOM you get the signal bars at the right and they go to zero every couple of minutes then spring back up. So its not software specific.
I would have thought the supplied headset was just a good old-fashioned 'feed to the speaker or feed to the earpiece' hard connection but it would appear not to be so.
So the question is, what is the Blue Angel doing when the headset is plugged in that it isn't doing when its not?!!!
....... tumbleweed rolls by........ signs creak...... saloon doors swing......
OK, ....I know, ...I know, ....if no one has posted it probably means no one knows the answer So I'll ask, does anyone use their Blue Angel with Navman SmartST V3 who could try this with the headphones to see if its a one off or a real issue?
As a test I installed TomTom Navigator and it does the same thing.
Any thoughts appreciated.
OK guys. I know I can't force a response so I'll post findings to date. For one reason or another, I have used Navman Smart ST V3 (now returned) a 'borrowed' version of Tom Tom navigator 5 and, in an effort to remain 'legit' a version of Destinator PN. All these exhibit the same problem so I can only presume that there is a hardware issue with the Blue Angel and my GPS port (port 1). Does anyone have a clue what the BA does when you plug in the headset that could cause such a problem or pehaps even a fix?
I have an XDA IIs with TomTom 5 and a wired GPS unit.
It doesn't exhibit this fault.
The headset (wired) works just fine. I have disabled BlueTooth to get reliable telephone performance, so I can't tell what that would work like.

i-mate jasjar not work with parrot ck3300 gps

help me
I have a Imate Jas-Jar windows mobile 2005. A new version of GPS Nav-N-Go was released for WM 2005 I installed it and it doesn't work! It doesn't recognize my GPS on the Parrot CK3300.
I talked with the Nav-N-Go developers and they told me that the Nav-N-Go works with 9 GPS antenna's. It seems to me that the problem is in the definition of a communication "COM port".
Please help me to solve this problem. Is there a way to define a "COM port" for GPS in the CK3300
jorge
JasJar & TomTom5 using a Parrot 3300 for GPS & Phone
I also have a Jas Jar badged as an Orange SPVM5000 and have similar problems. I am not a techie by any meands but I do not think the problem is with the Parrot 3300.
The Bluetooth pairing connects Parrot and Phone.
Setting the com port is identifying where the incoming gps signal is made of available on the phone.
TomTom5 is the sat nav software I use and it seems only to work by connecting to certain com ports. Unfortunatley, the phone does not like assigning the connection to this port.
Elsewhere on this site there are instructions which allowed me to pair the phone with another GPS BT reciever I use when out and about.
The same procedure will not work with pasiring the parrot.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can pair with the Parrot to get the phone and gps working?
You may find some answers here -- worth a try, anyway.

PDA2K - Car Kit / In-Built GPS Comms

Hi All,
I have a i-Mate PDA2K-EVDO with the following specs:
ROM:2.03.00 WWE
Radio: HA01_140
Ex ROM: 2.03.11 WWE
Currently with eXpansys FSE9 Car Kit (Includes integrated GPS reciever) URL"http://www.expansys.com.au/product.asp?code=124312", with ALK (Travroute) CoPilot Live 5 for PPC.
The issue that I am having is that when the phone is docked in the car-kit all call functions work fine (except for volume being a little low, but that may be spk position), however I cannot get the GPS software to communicate with the reciever. I am not sure whether the com-port that is used to communicate with the reciever is only being half-opened (or not remaining open).
I have tried modifying the selected COM settings and am currently using (COM 1, 4800) which appears to have some communication with the device. When the unit first is powered-up the GPS recieving light is on (steady) and when GPS location is established the light starts flashing. I have installed GPSInfo (for WM5) and am able to scan ports to establish COM1, 4800 as the connected port. When I then press the "Cold Start" button the GPS reciever resets, and then goes through the re-establishment phase, but no GPS data is being parsed.
To top things off, I did manage to get the CoPilot software to work for all about 5 mins. So I am thinking that this may be a port issue (or something with the reciever).
Can anyone provide some help with the following:
1 - A utility that can check com port activity, and see what is happening at this level.
2 - Some insight as to what other programs may use the same ports as COM1 - As I believe that it is serially emulated as a COM.
3 - Any other insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
Not too sure if this'll help but with TomTom 5, you need to disable incoming beams on the Start\Settings\Connections\Beam to enable the Hard-Wired GPS to be read..
Try it and let us know the outcome..
Cheers!
Still No Good
Hey Mr Philly,
No luck with the Beam Settings. I even went as fas as Hard Resetting the device :x as Active Sync to Exchange stopped working this morning....
Any other ideas?
Thanks again for your response.

Paul, you mentioned specificaly that you loaded GPS Info (for WM5) is this the OS you have on the device? if so the GPS applet in the control panel / connections tab might need playing with - BTW I should have mentioned as its a wired GPS unit leave the Receive all beams OFF on this device - Mike
Interesting Point
Hi Mike,
Thanks for joining in on this thread.
I have disabled beams on the device.
THe GPSInfo app loaded was WM5 although I only have WM2003 SE. I have searched through multiple ng's to find a 2K3SE version, but all seem to point to the new version.
This was also the file provided my the distributor of the car-kit & cradle. The GPS unit is integrated into the Car Kit, so that is what i refer to as hard-wired (opposed to GPS).
As for the applet, I do not have a GPS applet in the connections section :?:
Can you provide any more informationon this point.
Thanks again,
Paul.
Disregard it then, I thought you might have loaded up a 2005 OS by chance , this has no bearing on the problem on your device - more thinking time required - Mike

Hermes and BT GPS stop talking after a few mins

I am now asking for help as I have come to the end of my knowledge.
I have an SPV M3100 running WM6 (tried a few different roms all to no avail) and a Fuzion BT GPS unit that I use when hiking.
I run some software called Memory Map but getting the hermes and GPS unit talking is a real nightmare.
The two are paired correctly and I have opened a COM port, but when I run Memory Map it will either come up with "ERROR: Cannot Open COM Port" or on the odd occasion that it sees the GPS unit, within a minute or so says "GPS: Communication Timeout" and refuses to work any more until I soft reset the phone.
To add insult to injury, I also have a Magician which works flawlessly for 7hrs or more with the GPS unit.
Anyone shed any light on why the Hermes won't play fair ?

Sim Access Profile Problem with Audi?

I have had the TP2 for a couple of weeks now and am generally very happy with it, but for some reason the Sim Access Profile is not working correctly with my Audi. I have paired the phone with the car and have enabled SAP in the phone's BT advanced settings page. Unfortunately the car will only access part of my phone book (only contacts under A to B are showing). The phone has all of my contacts on it and all of the other features of SAP seem to be working. I know that I can use JETware as an alternative but would like to know if I am doing something stupid with the phone before I go down the JETware route.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
I put my problem / question in this thread:
I use the TP2 in my skoda with a audi BT-SAP-Adapter this combination works, tested it before with my S/// X1.
When i pair my phone with the sap-Adapter the adapter recognizes that the TP2 can use the SAP-BT-profile and use the longer pairing PIN (when you pair a mobilephone wich has no SAP-profile the adapter use the Handsfree-profile and shows you a shorter PIN). As far, everything seems to work great.
But when my TP2 want´s than to connect with the adapter i see that the statusline shows the typical symbol for the flight mode and in the BT-menu at the BT-adapter i see the words "SIM-Access" for very short time (~ one second). Next the line “Stereo-profile” or something else (it is to fast to read) appears and half a second later the line “Handfsree” appears. The Symbol for a handsfree connection is shown at the statusline and the sign for flightmode changes back to the normal symbol for filedstrength.
what i tried as far to solve the problem:
1) i contacted the HTC-Support. They told me. that they made, at the moment, a test-row to solve specially the problems between HTC-WINMob-Handsets and car-handsfree-sets. So i got from there a software which i had to install at my phone and got a error-report. This i had to sent to HTC. No further comment from them.
2) i searched at very much forums at the car and mobilephone scene.
3) I tested the combination with different SIM-cards from different Providers and different ages.
4) I deleted my contacts at my SIM and wrote some newer one with an NOKIA Phone (this helped by some other SAP-car-FSEs)
5) I used No-Data
6) I installed the newest radio-rom.
Nothing of this brought some solution.
As i found at my recherches i´m not the only one who hast this problem with the HTC and sap-car-handsfree-set.
I thing, that this is a problem with the BT-Stack which is used at the TP2 and other HTC, is it?
Dose somebody solved this problem? Even with an other HTC with the same BT-Stack???
Has somebody any other idea to solve the problem??
Any help??
Merci
Quino666
I had no problems with SIM access on my 2010 A3 TDI -- worked flawlessly with my Tilt 2 with stock ROM. I haven't checked the car's phonebook lately, but last time I looked, everything was there.
1) With update on WM 6.5 or the first WM 6-version of the ROM?
2) Do you use a build in Handsfree solution with sap-profile or the adapter-solution?
Merci
Quino666
Hey,
I have a similiar Problem with the rSAP snap-in Adapter in my 2010 iDrive BMW. rSAP (telephony) just works great, but it only syncs the simcard's PhoneBook entries.
The BT-Monitor on my TP2 (Energy Rom WiMo 6.5.6) shows an active SAP and PBAP connection. Any ideas how I tell my TP2 to distribute the internal Exchange contacts and not the SIM-Contacts?
bye
Darky
