XDA SP Smartphone. What is it pleeze - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

After having all manner of xda since version 1 (and loving every one) I have now risked myself with the new xda sp smartphone. Problem is, what is it and does anyone know where anything regarding improvements and unlocks can be had.
I like it so far, but i can't figure out how to set auto keylock without setting a password. This is a bit of overkill as I only want the keys to lock automatically like just about every phone I have ever owned has done without using a password. Surely I don't actually have to put in a password to enable this (most basic) feature.
Any help and info on this new and very pretty thing would be appreciated.
Cheers

password software...

is there a password software for BA wm6.5???
some members here said passwords are bugs in cooked roms and therefore do not work properly...
looking forward for replies...
thanks...
Yes the password has bugs in it in wm6.5, so it may work for a while, but eventually you will be unable to unlock your phone. I used organic lock for a while, but stopped once my BA stopped being my PDA and just became my phone.
i know password doesn't work...well, they worked once but i have to hard reset my BA to be unlocked...
so, any password software won't work on wm6.5?
I think password software will work, as long as it is not the built in one.
i think so too...
does anyone know a not built-in password software?
hi,
you can try using S2U2 made by a_c. basically, it is a program that show you an iphone lock screen on your WM device, it comes with a password locked features, so you just configure it to enable locking once your device is being turned on
hope that helps you. fyi, I'm using it right now and so far its good and stable

Big problem-phone lock problem.

I have a very big problem on my XDA IIs, i cannot unlock the phonelock even though i input the correct password.
-on my way home, my phone got emptied(battery empty). and then when i opened it, the problem began. please help me. what should i do?
-i have read articles stating that it is a common problem when the battery got emptied.
-my phone is an O2 xda IIs WM 6.5, serial 2.7.
-ty for the reply....
as i told you via pm already, there is no way to unlock the phone, once you set a password. the phone "forgets" the right password and would say, any password you put in, is wrong. that is why the only way to get rid of the problem is to re-flash the phone. a hard reset won't work, since that would be a terrible theft protection and also there is no way to backup any data, since even connected to the pc you are not given any access to the phone. that is why, in several threads here, and in several positions in my tutorial, i warn people, not to set a password in a cooked rom. you can do it in the stock wm2003 rom though, it works perfectly fine.
if you feel the need to protect your phone using a password, you need to look for 3rd party software to do that. i think spb has a nice app for that.

[Q] Security / Lockscreen

Hi.
I am Student and at our University we use Eduroam, for which i need a certificate. So far so good. Everything works fine on Android.
My only Problem is i have to use a Passcode, or lockscreen pattern or a pin. Even if i don't want to.
The best for me would be if i could use a Custom Rom with Lockscreen widgets. But if i use them i have to slide the lockscreen away and after that i have to unlock my phone.
I mean its twice the fun. Only swiping would be enough for me.
Anyone a solution for this?
it prevents people accessing your device freely, thus using your vpn connection.
it's one extra step yeah, but thats why its there.
there are custom roms that allow it.

Is there no possible way to have the widgets on the pin code screen? Would be interesting

I have take kasperky mobile security out from administrator and now it's asking me for a passkey. I cannot get past it even after reboot. If I enter in recovery mode I don't have clockwork mode. What to do? I don't know the passkey because the phone was bought from a guy. Please help! Thank you!
Doesn't really sound like it's your phone. I start asking the guy.

It's mine because I bought it from him. If it was stolen I would not have written online with the real city
Can I use Odin to flash a firmware with no security key? Or can I use recovery to do a full wipe?

Make the person you bought it from fix that. Or return it for your money. That would be the easiest route, but yes as said, it is a tricky subject when people come here asking how to circumvent phone security. There is no way for us to tell if you are legit or the phone was stolen/found. If the guy you bought it from is unable to help you then that phone likely belongs to someone else.
Not to mention you are also hijacking someone else's thread with an unrelated topic.
I have flashed 4.0.1 with odin and then upgrade it to 4.1.1. Thank you for all your help and sorry for posting in this thread but I was in a hurry.

[Q] pattern lock reset help ~ I've not forgotten it, simply want to change it

Please help me? I am by no means a developer, just a wanna be nerd with a new phone. I'm looking for pattern lock reset help ~ I've not forgotten it, simply want to change it, and while it seems like something that would be simple and obvious, it is currently not presenting itself that way and I'm more than a little frustrated with myself (and it).
Meanwhile, the first two weeks the phone seemed just fine (apart from not playing with Planet anymore, though that seems worked out now, though I'm not at all certain). Now, I'm getting a lot of security issues cropping up that seem disturbing. Verizon tech support tells me that Kitkat 4.3 has known issues in this arena that they hope will be corrected in the next update. There is a constant message about my network traffic, email, etc may be monitored by an unknown third party and to check my security certificates. Did that ~ cleared them all, but that only helped for about 10 minutes. The phone insists that it cannot get a secure connection to Facebook, so I am too wary to do much of anything online with it. Seems to defeat the purpose of even having the phone. I'm seriously considering switching back to my last smartphone and turning this one off (I do not believe that I can return it).
I'm so sorry to ramble on so, but is it insane to ask if the M8 can be pushed back to an older version of Android?!?!?
Thank you so very much for ANY help at all.
Change pattern: settings, security, click on Screen lock and enter your current pattern. Click Screen Lock again to enter a new one, then repeat to confirm, and you're done.
For the second part I have no solution I'm afraid.

He is asking for how to reset it not how to change it.And @hnvr911 you should google it.You shouldn't ask for hacks in xda.

"He" is a she... and I am not looking to hack anything at all. I am simply too daft to change my own security pattern. As I stated clearly, I have not forgotten how to unlock my phone, I would simply like to change it, and while this should be a simple and obvious task, it appears to be eluding me at present... (though I am, somehow, adept enough to have already tried the obvious tactic of "googling" the question before annoying those I presumed more clever than myself.
To the first response, I thank you for your kindness and patience, I will attempt your suggestion straight away.
Kind regards,

Have you tried following these "suggestions" ?
HOWTO Install a custom cert without "Your network could be monitored" message
How can I trust CAcert's root certificate?
Remove "Network May Be Monitored by an Unknown Third Party" in Android 4.4 KitKat
Maybe/Hopefully it'll sort out your second problem in regards to the Trusted Credentials.
Anyone htat ever needs to reset their lock if they have forgotten it or get locked out somehow, Here is my backdoor mod I created specifically for this type of situation You may not need it now but download it & save it so you will always have it with you when that time comes if it ever oes and chances are, it will!

Option key gives false contact

Hey y'all,
I was wondering if someone could tell me what to do with an option button which gives a false contact (my phone thinks it's being pushed without me even touching the phone). As it also happens in recovery, I think it's something hardware related?
Anyway, somewhat related to the question, does anyone know how to get your phone repaired under warranty in europe (and whether oppo is cool or being hard assess)
