Hi Guys/Gals
My I-mate PDA2k has recently started switching itself off for no apparent reason, nothing has been installed recently and the battery seems fine.
Has anyone else had this problem and is there a nice solution or is my PDA dying?
Thanks everyone
Terry
What ROM version etc. are you using ?
I use i-Mate's 1.40.176 WWE and Radio version 1.13 and actually experienced something similar.
I found that in my case the recently installed Broadcom 1.6 BT stack/upgrade (CAB file: PDA2K_BroadcomCorp_BTUpdate) had something to do with it.
Since installing it I had regular unexpected shutdowns whilst using BT and OziExplorer despite having the 'no shutdown' option in OziExplorer ticked.
I did a hardreset, reinstalled everything as before but without the BT stack and everything works perfectly (again) now.
hard reset might work, if all else fails of course and nobody has a fix for you!!!!

I am also using the I-mate 1.40.176 WWE and Radio version 1.13 but I haven't installed the Broadcom 1.6 BT stack/upgrade.
I have recently done a hard reset (not by choice) as the PDA2k screen went blank, I pressed the standby button believing it to be in powersave mode but it wiped everything!!, even after that I have had problems but I have replaced the original battery now as I was using a huge one that I bought from www.proporta.com.
We'll see if this does any better, watch this space...
Thanks Bins & Joey Jojo

Whe I use any of the today plugins like SPB pocket Plus most of the times after a soft reset the PPC freezes... It may needs 10 soft resets to work again!!!
Any help with this would be really appreciated...
Qtek 9090

1.22.00 WWE
Ext ROM:
1.22.167 WWE
I know people with I-mate roms with no problem!! Should I put I-mate's rom??
I have the same issues..
I just stopped using those programs for that reason.
MS VOICE COMMAND 1.0 was bad for that too.
So I am not the only one!! :? :? :?
That's damn bad!!!
I've read this on the SPB site.. That the HTCs have this problem!! :x :x
The only solution is before a soft reset to remove the programm from the "today"...
Are you using battery pack as well?
I had the same problem on my qtek9090.
I have done a hard reset and have installed all my programs one by one, but first SBP.
Than i have testes to istall Battery pack later on as last one and .....
no problems anymore. But why use Battery pack if you use SBP? So i de installed Battery pach.
Everything is working fine now for the last months.
Andre le Fevre
I tried them one at a time of course..
With SPB now you don't have a problem? It was the first programm you installed? What do you have it to show on the today screen? Apart from the program shortcuts?
ROM version?
I have had no such problems with my Qtek 9090, from the first ROM that it came with to the one I'm using now. I use PocketPlus 2.2 and T-Agenda, and it works perfectly.
i am using Tweak 2.41, Pocket Plus 2.2 and Pocket Hack Master 3.05. The results are that, although they are enhancement tools, but will slower my XDA IIs sometimes.... Therefore, they are not as stable as I expected. As a result, I removed them... Now, my machine work great and response fast (but two of ten times are slow especially I turn it on after few hours).
I think this is a rom dependent problem.
When I turn on Bluetooth on XDA IIs, I got this error message :
"The bluetooth radio radio failed to turn on due to insufficient driver memory available. You must perform a normal reset before you can turn on the bluetooth radio."
Anyone can advise how to resolve this ? Soft reset does not cure the problem. Thanks.
have you upgraded to bluetooth stack version 3900 ???
if you have then im fresh outta ideas, if you havent find this at our FTP site,
ftp://xda-developers.com/
login and password = xda
got the same problem when i installed one of the bluetooth upgrades on its own. then i installed the new rom and everything was fine. not sure where the connection is but thought id share my problem
Problem solved.
By the way, what is the latest version of ROM for XDA2s, and where to get it from ?
Thanks.
So I was wrong.
After upgrading the BT upgrade, things was OK yesterday. But this morning i got the same error again.
Went to ftp://xda-developers.com/ as suggested, can anyone mentioned the filename of the ROM mentioned by thakkergaurav above ?
Thanks.
The latest ROM is 1.40
You can find it here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel
Hmmm..... :?
This BT issue is really getting to be NOT FUNNY!
Running the new ROM 1.40 and BT 3900 I'm now getting the "no sound" problem on the handset and caller cannot hear me on a HS801!
I use the turn on/turn off BT trick or soft re-set and the handset is OK for a couple of hours but the HS801 still does not work even though its OK with my old PocketPC,a nokia and a Motorola V3!
Is there any consistancy with this problem? It seems the different ROMs, Radio Stacks and BT versions are being effected.
Well, emailed the tech support, and all they can say was ...
"There is a ROM upgrade in development which is in the final stages.
We request your patience as we are trying to release the upgrade as soon as possible."
And that was 2 weeks ago.
even my bluetooth is upgraded to 3900,
i get the same error message also..
i cannot believe a 96mb memory is still not enough
i never get this kinda nonsense when i was using the 5450 ipaq
my today plugins was all over the screen and I had never encountered low memory...
I had the same problem but I have a Harrier not a BA so I thought it was related to that and you BA guys wouldn't get it.
Anyway, the solution on the harrier was to
-turn flight mode on
-soft reset
-turn bluetooth on
-turn flight mode off
Hope this helps
Here is a possible solution from wiki:

Delete Run_BTTrayCE_10.lnk from your Windows\Startup folder and soft reset. Now you wont have the BT icon on the tray bar, but you wont have the no sound problem. If you still need bluetooth you can start it from the Windows directory as BTTrayCE.lnk.
Have fun.

Have not tried this myself, but I believe others have had success with it. You may want to save the file somewhere else, in case you want to reinstate it later...
Hope this helps

I posted this in another thread.
It really does look like a combo of the 1.40 ROM and 1.12 Radio Stack that is causing this problem (in this case, anyway. See sig). After trolling various forums, it seems that both BT build 3900 and 3500 are having the same issues.
IMHO it seems that the Blue Angel is trying to send the call to my HS801 even when BT is not activated.
Has anyone had a good look at the current radio stack? I've tried contacting Broadcom (BT chipset supplier) but it has been 3 weeks with no answer.
I've done the Run_BTTrayCE_10.lnk workaround but this is only a bandaid and I don't really have enough experience to attempt to cook the ROM. Any ideas?
I have a Motorola HS801 as well and I can receive calls just fine but when I make calls the other party can't hear me. I'm giving up on the HS801 - it's a cheapie anyway and I don't know of anyone else who's got it working either. Running BT3900
hi all!
i've got a very unstable xdaiii o2 uk
is the i-mate pda2 rom better?
i hope someone can help me cause its very frustrating!!!
thanks
Fantomas
personally, i found it better
Where can i find the latest i-mate rom????
I've found it better - though not significantly at least the lockups are less.
You can download it via:

Cheers

thanks Jim and Anton!
an other thing, i'm getting lock ups with tomtom 3+ BT GPS. i know about the turn off phone method to stop locking but whats the point of having a pda phone edition then! so its got to be an other solution!
does the pda2 rom stops the above problem ? cause the radio version on the pda2 is higher! by the way i've already uninstalled o2 stuff!
or should i hard reset and go corporate on xdaiii (to see if lockups stops) before changing over to i-mate rom?
lastly! are the programs on the PDA2 excatly the same than xdaiii? (i mean all programs identical)
thanks again!
i'm impressed with this forum and all of you on it!
Fantomas
On TT3 I found lockups dropped substantially once I'd hidden the POIs - have you tried this? TT5 (now that I've added the POI and the 5.10) seems a lot better.
Some programs are not included like in the O2 version, but then also some things are included in the ROM as standard like the fax viewer, and also a copy of Skype. CallerID and MMS programs are still there as they're integrated into the ROM.

Had my m2000 for just over a week now and what a crock of poo. No volume out of speaker (well documented problem) and bluetooth connection that is turnip (might as well be two bean cans and a bit of string). I can get it paired with my bluetooth (in built in BMW) but every time a call comes in it drops it. Is there a patch for the bluetooth if so where do I get it ??
The other thing that winds me up is that orange UK will not acknowledge the above well documented problems but having mentioned "fit for purpose etc" they are sending me out a replacement and if this does not work I will change the phone completely. I did not change it earlier as I got a brilliant car mount from PDAmods and I will be out of pocket if I change the phone
To sum things up please advise should I ditch the phone and go back to my ipaq 4150 or are there software patches out there --- "somewhere" ????????
just checked rom 1.40
radio 1.06.02
if that helps anyone
FWIW, ROM 1.40 is OK, but I'd advise an upgrade to Radio ROM 1.13 & check if bluetooth version is 3500 or 3900.
I now use 3900 & make sure bluetooth is permanently on. Since then, I have not had the problem with "no Volume"

I've used the 1.13 radio ROM on my Orange M2000 - it worked fine for normal phone calls but GPRS went a bit mad with long, long connect times and frequently wouldn't connect at all. Dropping back to the 1.06.02 ROM put everything right.
Hi,
I hope somebody can help me out here...
Basically I've got an O2 XDA Exec - I recently upgraded it with the the new O2 ROM - current version numbers below.
ROM Version: 1.30.107 WWE
ROM date: 04/11/06
Radio version: 1.09.00
Protocol version 42.42.P8
ExtROM version: 1.30.162 WWE
The upgrade went like clockwork and initially I was very pleased with the result - it runs faster and the screen adjusts almost instantly when flipped from vertical to horizontal, interface is a lot slicker too etc...
But then I discovered I've lost my MMS messages - when I go into my mail folders all I've got is "Outlook E-Mail" and "Text Messages"... there is also no option to send an MMS to any of my contacts...
More worryingly though is the battery life... It used to last at least several days - now I can have it fully charged before I go to bed and it is completely flat by morning. All I've got installed is VBirthDay deluxe and SPBBackup... and I had them installed before the upgrade and never had an issue with the battery. I should also point out that I don't have the wirless or bluetooth on and "accept all incoming beams" is off. This is making my phone unuseable.
Anybody know what could be wrong or how I can go back to the original ROM please? I just need a working phone again
Thanks for taking the time to read this far!
Steve
the mms settings are in the extended rom
download it from the ftp run them and you should be ablke to mms again
as for the battery problem... dunno about that
Battery problem...
I've been having the same problem with the battery. It seems like the radios aren't actually turned off when the functionality is, and if you use WiFi especially, even after telling it to switch off, you lose 10% of power per hour =O(
The only resolution I've found so far is to downgrade the radio ROM to the 1.04 one from the original ROM install. That's helped a fair bit. I've also found that soft resets do switch off the radios (mostly) so when I switch off the phone parts and put the Exec to bed for the night, I do a soft reset too. That mostly solves it. I can go 2-3 days sometimes between charges. But I also still find it flat some mornings =O( I *think* that has happened becasue I did the soft reset too soon after I switched off the phone, and so it "forgot" the phone was off when it came back up again. The downgrade to 1.04 certainly seems to have fixed the wifi power problem.
The only thing that *really* worked was downgrading the software completely, but I don't want to do that, and soon upgraded again.
Don't know the cause. I have 4 colleagues also with Execs, and I'm the only one seeing this =O(
Hope this helps,
Mark.
Thanks for the quick replies - please excuse my ignorance but I'm not familiar with the FTP site you refer to? I downloaded the upgrade from from the "my xda" website.
The battery problem is a bit worrying if there is no proper fix - strange that it doesn't affect everyone though...
for the ftp see http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_FTP_Site
as for the battery, my mda pro normally does 1 day of work before it needs recharging (with the new qtek rom, with the original tmobile nl rom this was the same) but i use it alot (watch complete movie a day in the train and use it for internet), if i dont use it alot it can manage about 2,5 day
(using the 1.09 radio rom btw)
Don't really know if it will help, but have you tried allowing the battery to fully discharge, then charging it for 15 hours or so. I know once upon a time batteries could loose their callibration and a full discharge and recharge (like when you first got it) can reset this. However to be honest I thought this sort of thing was long gone in modern batteries, but still maybe worth a try.
I feel like the dunce at the back of class now...
There are many different files in the Universal FTP folder. Could someone please let me know which one of these I need to install to restore my MMS settings?

Thanks!
OK, the final piece of the puzzle - I downloaded and copied that file to my device and ran it from File Explorer - it asked where to install to and I selected device. It said it had installed successfully but I can't see any difference, even after a soft reset. Have I not installed it correctly?
I've also downloaded an older radio ROM(o2_Exec_Radio_Upgrade_1.06.00.exe) what is the correct way to go about installing this please?

If you are still having problems with what O2 CAB files do, follow this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=32527
Fixed!
Thanks very much for the helpful replies guys, I am happy to say that downgrading my Radio ROM back to 1.04 has fixed my problem! Normally every morning since the "upgrade" my battery would be flat - this morning I was delighted to open up my exec and not only be greeted by the "Today" screen but also to discover a battery with 95% charge left in it
My other problem (no MMS folders) seems to have been self inflicted - I checked after a hard reset and they were there, but they disappeared AFTER I restored my messages with SPBBackup. Something must have changed there and my old backup overwrites something important - not a huge loss - I can live without my old messages.
One other thing I forgot to mention - after I had upgraded the ROM originally - the phone would get hot when plugged into the charger - it didn't beforehand and it doesn't now with the 1.04 Radio ROM... strange.... :?
Congrats, Steve-L, you now seem to be where I am as far as battery life goes.
Next question for you - what happens if you switch on both the phone and bluetooth for the day, compared to just having the phone switched on?
For me, I lose about 5-8% an hour if BT is on, but only 1% if it's not. Which doesn't make any sense. I'm still experimenting to figure out why - maybe because I don't switch my BT-800 headset on until I need it, and the phone is hunting for it. That's tomorrow's experiment...
Ta,
Mark.
I'll have to try that tomorrow, but to be honest I think the Bluetooth has always drained my battery a bit quicker which is why I tend to leave it off unless I'm driving... Using the wifi is the real battery killer, especially if I have outlook checking for emails every few minutes.
I've still got 82% charge left after nearly a whole day with several phone calls and a spot of web browsing so I'm quite happy with it now

Ignore that - I found it on a different O2 site. Not sure why they can't just have a single rom update avaialble, but there you go!
