spv m2000 - crock of poo - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Had my m2000 for just over a week now and what a crock of poo. No volume out of speaker (well documented problem) and bluetooth connection that is turnip (might as well be two bean cans and a bit of string). I can get it paired with my bluetooth (in built in BMW) but every time a call comes in it drops it. Is there a patch for the bluetooth if so where do I get it ??
The other thing that winds me up is that orange UK will not acknowledge the above well documented problems but having mentioned "fit for purpose etc" they are sending me out a replacement and if this does not work I will change the phone completely. I did not change it earlier as I got a brilliant car mount from PDAmods and I will be out of pocket if I change the phone
To sum things up please advise should I ditch the phone and go back to my ipaq 4150 or are there software patches out there --- "somewhere" ????????

just checked rom 1.40
radio 1.06.02
if that helps anyone

FWIW, ROM 1.40 is OK, but I'd advise an upgrade to Radio ROM 1.13 & check if bluetooth version is 3500 or 3900.
I now use 3900 & make sure bluetooth is permanently on. Since then, I have not had the problem with "no Volume"

FWIW, ROM 1.40 is OK, but I'd advise an upgrade to Radio ROM 1.13 & check if bluetooth version is 3500 or 3900.

I've used the 1.13 radio ROM on my Orange M2000 - it worked fine for normal phone calls but GPRS went a bit mad with long, long connect times and frequently wouldn't connect at all. Dropping back to the 1.06.02 ROM put everything right.

XDA IIs Software and Bluetooth Headset

I've recently purchased an XDA IIs (unlocked and used on Vodaphone). Overall very impressed but I am having some annoying problems that I'm hoping for advice on (my collegue has also purchased one and is having similar problems, so I don't think it a hardware problem)
The XDA has just the standard O2 software apps installed and I have upgraded to ROM 1.31.00 WWE (from my-xda.com a few days ago), its say radio version is 1.06.00
Problems:
1) Very unreliable software, I quite frequently (several times a day) have to press the reset button. I seem to have the most recent version from O2. I see some comments on the forum about disabling O2 Active software?
2) I'm using a Bluetooth headset (Jabra BT250), this worked well with my previous phone a Nokia 6310i. Specifically:
- When I receive an incoming call it rings on the headset, if I answer by pressing the button on the headset in generally (but not always) answers with the headset connected as I need. But if I answer by pressing the answer button on the phone (hard button or pop-up menu button) the headset isn't connected and its a struggle to get it to connect mid call. However if I make outgoing calls in nearly always uses the headset correctly. Very annoying an inconsistent behaviour. I'd rather not use a different headset as I like the Jabra and the problems seem to be due to the XDA as it worked fine on the 6310i
- The range is hopeless, people say its very hard to hear me if the XDA is more than a couple of feet away, even turning my head so the Jabra and XDA are on opposite sides degrades the quality badly, I didn't think my head was that thick! With the 6310i I could be at least 10 feet away
- The volume, even at maximum, is too low, especially in a noisy environement like a car. It's much less than with the 6310i on exactly the same BT 250
I hope there are some fixes for this. I think the XDA is a great, really useful all in one device, but the poor relaibility and terrible bluetooth headset support are really spoiling it for me

Mike
Hi...
I just ordered my XDA IIs..hehe..selling my PDA2k now..love the black color..
Hehe..anyway, my PDA2k was using the BT 3500 drivers and i have the same problem as yours occasionally.
Most of the time, when i answer from the unit (not the BT headset's button), the caller can barely hear my voice.
However if i use the BT headest's button, it was fine...
I was using the Jabra BT250 also..but sold it to get the Motorola HS850..
Both are giving me the same problems...
I've read on several threads where poeple are successful in using the BT 3900 patch (sorry of i'm wrong)..but my PDA2k does not work with the patch..the screen turns garbage n messed up..had to hard reset it
I love this unit..canlive around with its current problems..hehe..hopefully it gets fixed.
Cheers!
The BT problems described above appear fairly common amoung xdaIIs users. Based on my research on this, there are a few things listed below that can help. Listed in order of ease to do. Start with 1 and progress to 5 if you are feeling brave :? or wait for 6!
1. (EASY) Keep your add on "Today Plugins" to an absolute minimum: I have found that SBP Pocket Plus to be particularly troubelsome and had to uninstall it.
2. (NOT TOO DIFICULT) Disable O2 Active: O2 advised me that the xda2s is more stable in "corporate mode" with O2 Active disabled. To do this you will need to back up your device data to your PC and then do a hard reset. As the device boots up and starts to go through the configuration process, you will be prompted to choose "corporate mode". You only have about 5 seconds to say "yes" before the configuration continues and installs personal mode. Select 'yes' and you will be prompted for a code. Enter 0506 (that's zero five zero
six) and tap Finish. You will see the message "Welcome corporate user, O2 Active won't be installed". Your device is now ready and you will have everything except the Active User Interface.
3. (MORE DIFFICULT) Upgrade your BT Stack from BT Build 3500 to BT 3900. Details on how to do this are provide in the companion wiki-developers forum
4. (A LITTLE SCARY) Upgrade your Radio Stack to 1.10 and your BT Stack to Build 3900. If you want to upgrade the radio stack at all, WIKI folks recommend upgrading the radio stack first and then the BT Stack.
5. (MORE SCARY!) Upgrade your BT and Radio Stack AND your ROM. WIKI have posted 1.40, which it seems can be used in conjunction with the existing extended ROM on the O2 XDA 2s. Not for the feint hearted, although the instruction they post for this are pretty comprehensive I must say.
I "talked" to one xda2s user who had gone through to step 5 and most of his issues had been resolved. I am at number 2 right now... Thinking of going to 3,4,and 5, but probably waiting for 6.........
6...?......ah yes...., wait for O2 to post the next full ROM update...
Hope that helps

Thanks for this. I changed to Corporate mode 6 days ago and its only had one crash, compared to before 5-6 times PER DAY!
Any idea when O2 are meant to be offering the next ROM update (are we talking weeks or months)?
Regards
Mike
I can't not see the 5 seconds page for selecting "corporate mode" when i do a hard reset.
I do hard reset by press on/off button + press on reset button.
Hi Mike
Well, it is supposed to be the end of April, so my guess is that it will be weeks, rather than months at this point. Also, the 1.40 ROM posted on wiki is a WWE version, so maybe this is a 'bootleg' version of what is to come from O2... only a guess on my part here...not really sure of it's origin...

Chris
Hi MR2046
What device and what ROM version do you have loaded?
Regards
Chris
Hi cbrow51,
I use O2 XDAIIs
ROM : 1.31.00 WWE
Radio : 1.02.00
Protocal : 1337.32
ExtROM : 1.31.920 WWE
Thanks
2046
Hi MR2046
The option to select corporate mode comes up close to the end of the install after you do the hard reset. You only get about 5 seconds to say 'yes' and then enter the code, before personal mode continues and installs the O2 Active stuff.
I see from your info that you have the older radio ROM (Current 02 version is 1.06) and a different extended ROM (I have 1.31.139WWE)... Not sure if the difference in extended ROM would cause you not to get this option or not...
I would try hardresetting again and see if you get the corp mode option. if you don't, then you might want to download the latest ROM from the O2 web site.
Hope this helps
Chris
Thanks a lot
But the O2 asia website did not update anything. There is only a small patch for BT upgrade.
BTW, which O2 website you meant?
BT sync and internet access
Hi all,
what about Bt sync/internet access? does anyone manage to do it ? i do not use a headset but i am trying for some weeks to get connected to my desktop via BT - with no results... i upgraded to 3900 just today but it did not help .
the manual of the device is not helpful for doing so...
which O2 Website
Hi MR2406
ah! that probably explains it. Sounds like you have the O2 Asia ROM then, correct?
I am using the UK ROM from the UK O2 web site. I am not sure if you would be able to download the UK ROM to your device, which I assume is of Asian origin..? O2 UK state that you should only download their ROM if your device meets certain criteria. Take a look on the site and check compatibility before downloading / installing.
From the very rudimentary understanding that I have from looking through the wiki site, its possible that you might get some kind of country and or operator code errors if you install the UK rom on your device. That said, there are detailed instructions on how to correct these errors also.
If I were you, I would look through all the materials on wiki, check the O2 site in UK and then decide on the best approach.
Hope that helps

XDA IIs and Bluetooth Problem.

When I turn on Bluetooth on XDA IIs, I got this error message :
"The bluetooth radio radio failed to turn on due to insufficient driver memory available. You must perform a normal reset before you can turn on the bluetooth radio."
Anyone can advise how to resolve this ? Soft reset does not cure the problem. Thanks.
have you upgraded to bluetooth stack version 3900 ???
if you have then im fresh outta ideas, if you havent find this at our FTP site,
ftp://xda-developers.com/
login and password = xda
got the same problem when i installed one of the bluetooth upgrades on its own. then i installed the new rom and everything was fine. not sure where the connection is but thought id share my problem
Problem solved.
By the way, what is the latest version of ROM for XDA2s, and where to get it from ?
Thanks.
So I was wrong.
After upgrading the BT upgrade, things was OK yesterday. But this morning i got the same error again.
Went to ftp://xda-developers.com/ as suggested, can anyone mentioned the filename of the ROM mentioned by thakkergaurav above ?
Thanks.
The latest ROM is 1.40
You can find it here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel
Hmmm..... :?
This BT issue is really getting to be NOT FUNNY!
Running the new ROM 1.40 and BT 3900 I'm now getting the "no sound" problem on the handset and caller cannot hear me on a HS801!
I use the turn on/turn off BT trick or soft re-set and the handset is OK for a couple of hours but the HS801 still does not work even though its OK with my old PocketPC,a nokia and a Motorola V3!
Is there any consistancy with this problem? It seems the different ROMs, Radio Stacks and BT versions are being effected.
Well, emailed the tech support, and all they can say was ...
"There is a ROM upgrade in development which is in the final stages.
We request your patience as we are trying to release the upgrade as soon as possible."
And that was 2 weeks ago.
even my bluetooth is upgraded to 3900,
i get the same error message also..
i cannot believe a 96mb memory is still not enough
i never get this kinda nonsense when i was using the 5450 ipaq
my today plugins was all over the screen and I had never encountered low memory...
I had the same problem but I have a Harrier not a BA so I thought it was related to that and you BA guys wouldn't get it.
Anyway, the solution on the harrier was to
-turn flight mode on
-soft reset
-turn bluetooth on
-turn flight mode off
Hope this helps
Here is a possible solution from wiki:
The ExSenetoR wrote:
Delete Run_BTTrayCE_10.lnk from your Windows\Startup folder and soft reset. Now you wont have the BT icon on the tray bar, but you wont have the no sound problem. If you still need bluetooth you can start it from the Windows directory as BTTrayCE.lnk.
Have fun.

I posted this in another thread.
It really does look like a combo of the 1.40 ROM and 1.12 Radio Stack that is causing this problem (in this case, anyway. See sig). After trolling various forums, it seems that both BT build 3900 and 3500 are having the same issues.
IMHO it seems that the Blue Angel is trying to send the call to my HS801 even when BT is not activated.
Has anyone had a good look at the current radio stack? I've tried contacting Broadcom (BT chipset supplier) but it has been 3 weeks with no answer.
I've done the Run_BTTrayCE_10.lnk workaround but this is only a bandaid and I don't really have enough experience to attempt to cook the ROM. Any ideas?
I have a Motorola HS801 as well and I can receive calls just fine but when I make calls the other party can't hear me. I'm giving up on the HS801 - it's a cheapie anyway and I don't know of anyone else who's got it working either. Running BT3900

PDA2k switches off

Hi Guys/Gals
My I-mate PDA2k has recently started switching itself off for no apparent reason, nothing has been installed recently and the battery seems fine.
Has anyone else had this problem and is there a nice solution or is my PDA dying?
Thanks everyone
Terry
What ROM version etc. are you using ?
I use i-Mate's 1.40.176 WWE and Radio version 1.13 and actually experienced something similar.
I found that in my case the recently installed Broadcom 1.6 BT stack/upgrade (CAB file: PDA2K_BroadcomCorp_BTUpdate) had something to do with it.
Since installing it I had regular unexpected shutdowns whilst using BT and OziExplorer despite having the 'no shutdown' option in OziExplorer ticked.
I did a hardreset, reinstalled everything as before but without the BT stack and everything works perfectly (again) now.
hard reset might work, if all else fails of course and nobody has a fix for you!!!!
8)
I am also using the I-mate 1.40.176 WWE and Radio version 1.13 but I haven't installed the Broadcom 1.6 BT stack/upgrade.
I have recently done a hard reset (not by choice) as the PDA2k screen went blank, I pressed the standby button believing it to be in powersave mode but it wiped everything!!, even after that I have had problems but I have replaced the original battery now as I was using a huge one that I bought from www.proporta.com.
We'll see if this does any better, watch this space...
Thanks Bins & Joey Jojo

Radio Rom 1.11.00 problems?!?!?!

hiya chaps, just wondered if anyone has upgraded to thE 1.11.00 radio rom, as i seem to have problems now with it.
i seem to be missing calls even though i have full signal, when people call me they say it goes straight to voicemail. as far as i can tell, this isnt a network problem, as i have 2 o2 phones and people can always get me on my other one, has anyone else had this problem???
Im going to downgrade back to 1.10.00 to see if this does shift the problem anyway.
joey. 8)
I've got exactly the same problem. I'm using a T-mobile mda pro with a Qtek rom
1.30.77
1.11.00
Sometimes the phone rings like 1 sec and then I have a missed call. Or it just doesn't do anything and I have a voicemail later on.
I've had this problem since the beginning. Used like radio 1.03 1.07 1.09 1.10 and 1.11
My battery lifetime is degraded to like 2 days now. If I disable BT it seems it lasts much much longer.
I'm thinking of maybe changing it to the original "new" t-mobile rom and look if that solves anything. I'm hesitated because I would need to reinstall all the programs again and I dont really feel like it.
I might just flash the radio to 1.10 or 1.09 so that I doesn't have to reinstall. Maybe I wait for the new radio
I've been using this radiorom for almost 2 months but I don't have any errors with it... maybe it depends on the network you use, too... (nokia or ericsson base stations for example, etc)
I have this problem with 1.11.00 after every true missed call.
why don't you upgrade to 1.13 version, already uploaded to ftp
I'll try it.
Thanks.
Update: I think it's fixed with 1.13.00. Thank you!!!
hi,i cant found on ftp this radio rom
Search in uploads.
Good luck!
i've always had these kinds of issues on all the different model pda/phone smartphones. i just get used to it....
besides it's usually my wife getting me tp bring something home for dinner.

It is normal that when you Leave your BT enabled it will deminish you battery more faster then when it's disabled... Don't leave your BT on for a long period of time, BT constantly sends a radio signal with a range of 10 meters, so everytime it's sending signal it will degrade your battery that is normal...

Radio problems with LVSW/Radio ROM

I am using LVSW ROMs since 26/03 version, through 08/04 until present 19/05. I also have 1.41 version of Radio ROM. Since I've started using these ROMs, I'm noticing problems with radio stack.
For example, while I was driving a car across Europe (UK->PL) few weeks ago, GSM module hanged almost every time I was crossing a border between countries and phone was loosing signal from one country and had to register in another. All I could see was little [!] sign instead of signal bars, and restarting phone module and/or whole device could help it. Two days ago I was on M1 from Sheffield to London and I've noticed that GSM module just died - pressing green button did just nothing (despite I had full signal bars), and people trying to call me that time, were saying they had regular calling signal, like I was missing a call. Besides that whole device was working properly, with no problems whatsoever.
On the other hand, I have no problems with dropped calls or data sessions. Looks like it is happening mainly on the move, and phone has problems with registering with network properly.
So there is a question(s) - does anyone have similar problems with LVSW ROMs or 1.41 Radio ROM? Should I downgrade Radio ROM to 1.40 or 1.38? I have HardSPLv7 installed, so is it safe to just use this RUU - ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Hermes/HERM_Radio_Only_1.40.30.00_CustomRUU.rar ? I've been searching forums, but haven't found much information on *downgrading* Radio ROM in particular.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Its the radio rom causing you problems. I've also had problems with data connections in particular using ROM 1.40 and 1.41 (in Asia, on UMTS and EDGE networks).
Suggest you re-flash the pretty-much proven 1.38 ROM. You can find the download link from the Wiki.
radio downgrade
I used the 1.40 on black 2.5 and it was ok , then I upgraded to 1.41 radio and I had problems with the sound quality so I downgraded to 1.40 and the sound become back good
I have HardSPLv7 installed and I am on orange IL Israel
I used for downgrade CustomRUU and had no problems on the downgrade prosses
now i am using the last version of LVWS with radio 1.40 and it is working ok
hope this info help you
another remark :
try to install first the radion and on top of it os and not first os and then radio , i notice in a change of battery life in those 2 variants
Were you driving too fast for the phone to keep up with the radio transmitters passing by????
I'm also using LVSW 19-05 and Radio 1.41 but not having any significant issues unless a program runs at 100%, then the person trying to call me hangs up before the phone starts ringing!
Ciao Oggy.
It's not the LVSW ROM.....! It's the radio 1.41 And this radio was tuned for Cingular. I am on Cingular and i personally think that 1.40 is much much better. Read up on the two radio topics for more info on the two. So the bottom line is it's NOT LVSW at fault here. it's the 1.41 radio...

Yeah, that's what I thought, but wasn't 100% sure either. I'm going to downgrade to 1.40 tonight and will observe any results...
Thanks to all for your inputs.
to be fair I think there is a problem with t-mobile uk at the moment with handovers, let me explain.......
I have a active data connection.........
phone is on 3G, everything fine
phone switches to 2G, data connection is still active, no problems
phone switches to 3G, data connection is broken and the radio reboots (scrolling dots ect.)
I can (and have) replicated this with EVERY radio from 1.27 to 1.41 (and I do mean EVERY radio)
I've also tried EVERY WM6 rom out there all do the same.
so I can only think its T-mobile playing up, its just strange that everything worked fine with WM5 as I remember (and no Im not flashing back to find out!)
Hi, I'm in the Netherlands. Just tested the 1.40 because 1.41 disconnected all the time. So far so good (5 calls later..). Downgrade went fine with the customRUU. Regards Bas

Interesting - it might be worth to check, but here in London it's actually hard to find a place where phone would switch itself 3G->2G. But anyway, I had problems not only on T-Mobile UK network, as I stated in first post, so I rather think it's Radio ROM related problem, more than network.
Sorry...I've been to positive. Right now only incoming calls come through. Outgoing is still a disaster. I'll downgrade to 1.38. Ill let you know if this works..
Currently in Thailand on DTAC, an EDGE network (all their GSM networks here have EDGE).
Radio 1.40: Voice calls were okay, didn't seem to have any problems, until I tried using data (gprs/edge). The data connection was completely unstable and unusable. Downgraded to radio 1.38...
Radio 1.38: Everything okay so far, EDGE data and voice calls.
Same boat!
Yup, same thing here with T-Mobile and the 3G/2G thingy.
Though I must admit 1.40 is pretty sucky anyway, 1.41 was worse.
Considering going back to 1.38, I've forgotten what it came with 1.2x or something, which, for its sins was pretty OK.
Oi! T-Mobile!! Sort it out before I head back to Orange!!!!
Actually, forget that rant, no point taking two steps backwards and starting to pay per MB again!!! LMAO

One more thing, which just came to my mind - in the original T-Mobile's MDA Vario II Extended ROM there is a file called P_rilgsm_patch.CAB, which could be related to Radio. Maybe this is a key for these problems? I guess this patch is network-specific - well, I believe this patch is there for a reason...
Btw, I've just downgraded to 1.40...
Error message flashing Radio 1.40.30
Hope someone can help me with this. I'm encountering an error message when trying to flash to radio 1.40.30. I have Custel 2.5 installed on a JasJam with Radio 1.41 currently.
When I run the update RUU program and click the AutoDetect button, I get a message that says "Error, Unknown version! You should pick SSPL".
I have HardSPL7 installed, so my question is, is it safe to force SSPL? Is that what it is asking me to do?
Thanks.
Nevermind, I think I found the answer finally - it only took many days:
1. Select "2.10 new..."
2. Tick "Is it HARD Spl?"
And then run the update as per normal.

OK, but how to actually copy/send rilgsm.dll file?? Each time I have 'File cannot be copied' message, or such like... :-o
Btw, what happened, when you applied rilgsm patch?
i now get a "E" icon instead of "3G" and the radio seems slower handing over from 3G to 2G and back (thank god my stairs are 2G only!) I've sent you a PM on how to copy that file.
