Hi
I have another problem with HTC Touch Pro 2 regarding turning the phone on than has been posted in the forums.
Sometimes(every second day) my touch pro 2 wont turn on using the on/off button.
I will have to do a reset(on reset button) to turn the phone back on.
Any idea what can cause this?
HTC Touch Pro 2 using original Danish ROM. Both current version and also a problem first version.
it is called the sleep of death (SOD) , and afaik it has been solved, but I don't know any more about it as I never had it my self !

Not solved. Author of thread that you pointed to denies it is a SOD fix.
There could be several reasons for the SOD.
Please check out my page about SOD's and comment if you are able to fix it!

last 2 days ive had a similar issue, wont wake with power button when it's slid open
it may be an obvious troubleshooting measure, but have you guys installed any new software recently? if so uninstall...even apps from the marketplace can cause various issues...
I have been having the same problem for several weeks. my phone has been repaired twice and I now have new phone and still getting the same problem. If I disable the data connection it seems to solve the problem but that kind of defeats the object of this type of phone. Disabling the facebook sync option seems to greatly reduce the occurance. I am on t-mobile uk and using stock roms with no additional software.
My experience has been that SOD is not actually SOD but rather just a temporary thing. Put it back in your pocket and try again in few minutes.
had this the first week of ownership, in my case went into the vodafone shop and reported the problem where they swapped the battery in my phone.problem solved.
Hi...I had this same problem with my Sprint TP2. It has now been fixed, but I had to install a custom ROM. I installed the NRG Rom and since then, I have not had the SOD. I believe that Google Maps was causing the phone to enter the sleep, however, I am not positive.
The NRG Max Manila Rom is excellent. I would just install it if I were you and everything will be fine.

Try installing LUMOS to avoid SOD
i have a couple of TP2 with the SOD problem.
I read several post recommending LUMOS, so i did a quick test and it seems that it's really solving the SOD and also giving a little more battery dimming the screen.
Give it a try and let us know your comments.
I know your post is old, but my SOD problem is new. What is LUMOS?

Way to thread necro indeed...
I assume he means this app.
I've seen what sounds like this problem on my TP2 and have found the way to revive the phone is to call it from another phone.
whats up guys! I bought a used HTC Rhodium/ Touch Pro 2 on eBay and it arrived today. I'd appreciate it if you guys could help me out with two problems I'm having.
I'm having a weird issue where the microphone icon toggles on and off (i also hear some sort of enabled/disabled sound going on/off every 10 sec or so) and i sometimes hear a "please repeat" command. Also, whenever this happens any text box I select automatically spams "gggggggggggggggg" indefinitely
Seems like a rather strange issue to me. If I reboot the phone, or have it off for a good 5+ mins, the phone is problem free for 1-2 minutes. Then the above problems occur again
Anyone have any insight? I enjoy this phone so far and it'd be a shame if i need to return it. I upgraded the ROM to the most recent WM 6.5 and it did not doing anything

Hi guys
I've been getting fairly decent battery life, however am now connecting my phone to the car daily via bluetooth.
I've noticed some battery drain and after checking the built in battery stats and also better battery stats app, my Bluetooth is not turning off when I'm selecting it.
IE, connected on the drive to work, get to work, disconnected then turned off, but showing as constantly on.
Any ideas what could cause this?

I have noticed the same thing when viewing battery stats although I never use bluetooth and it's always off.

Any updates or anyone else having the same problem?
I also noticed it just a minute ago. gsam monitor tells that bt was on for 6hrs+ which is the exact same time with phone radio.
Earlier this week connected to my boss' car radio for bt aux, this is the first and last time I used bt. Switched it on&off from settings, nothing changed.
SH26CW, running 4.0.4
Might be useful to give the serial no's since it is useful information about the production site and date.

Same issue here, and same Android version. GSam always reports the same Bluetooth on time as the time unplugged, ie. it's saying that BT has been on all the time, while it's clearly off. I've tried different ways to switch off BT (using widget, using settings, going into Airplane mode and back) but to no avail.
Part of me is suspecting that GSam might be reading the wrong value and falsely reporting it as Bluetooth. But perhaps someone with a different battery monitoring app could check on this and confirm?
It is a bug, to solve it you will need to restart your phone.
This is the only way I find to solve this on stock 2.17/Android 4.0.4.
This bug is caused by turning your Bluetooth on and off.
I faced the same problem? But does that use battery? Actually.the Bluetooth is off.

Hmm, user fault then hheheheueh
the strange thing is, it does not consume battery at all. ok it's not connected to any device but I would think it would consume more than just %1.
may be non-discoverable makes it use less. not broadcasting anything.

A restart sometimes fix the problem but not always. Today I had bluetooth turned off then after restarting by four hours my device reports that bluetooth has been on for 4 hours even though I didn't turn it on and it shows that it's off.

Glad I'm not the only one
I do find a reboot fixes it, but I don't want to have to reboot my phone every time I get out the car.
I'll get my serial number when I'm home and see if its the same

I'm now having a chat with HTC live support about JB update and also asked the question about BT off issue.
He said, please follow the following steps.. Waiting for what he'll say..
So he suggested booting in safe mode, going to applications? >> manage, uncheck.. ? I'm not familiar with safe mode so I cannot surely say what he is talking about.
Has anyone tried this? Did it work?
So he sad that this will solve if an application is triggering the problem, but I haven't used any applications that use BT.
So, the next suggestion is factory reset, bullsh*t. sorry guys =)
useless post may be, but confirms that HTC official support has no fixing for this.

Hahaha, that's funny and more towards Apple ideology.
Bluetooth was designed to be efficient. But, if its running then it consuming energy ,and that's something I don't like.
I already checked logcat/kmsg ,but nothing about this Bluetooth issue.
I didn't see anyone on JB came to complain about this, let's see what the offical JB has to offer.

Try to disable "fastboot", and give it a try.
I am afraid nothings more can be done on stock, other option is to wait for JB and hope it already fixed.

Safe mode is a mode in Android, that will will disable all the 3rd party installed apps. Similar to safe mode in Windows. After your turned on your phone, just press on the volume key and it will get you there.
Beside that, I never trust customer support, and I never had a good experience with any of them.
The only good thing is about companies offering customer support, is they add job opportunities into the economy.
This problem just crept up on me. I noticed the battery was lower than normal, I checked BBS and it seems like BT never turned off. A reset would solve the problem until I turn BT back on again.
Does anyone know if this has been fixed with 4.1?

It seems so, at least on my One X G Sam is now reporting the correct BT on-time, whereas pre-JB it was continually on, clock ticking even after turning it off.

no probs here:good:
When I press the power button on my phone and put it down (whether it be a few inches or a few feet away) it will turn itself on for no reason. I have installed various air-push detectors, I have tried cleaning the USB port (note this phone isn't even a month old in my hands) but nothing is working. If you know what's going on and or how to fix it let me know. I'll post updates if I get it fixed.
I've had that happen many times and even after running a logcat I've never figured out what caused it. Sometimes an app requesting su has been the culprit but most of the time I have no idea.
So you never fixed it? I'll try auto granting and using logcat

I recently had this happening because i enabled the alarm in tunein app. Have not had one screen on issue since i disabled it again.
Reminds me i have to enable it again if i dont want to oversleep tomorrow
Hope that helps somehow

i disabled the alarm and as soon as i was going to say it might have worked, i turn my phone off and literally a second later it turned back on
well in that case you probably have to disable one app at a time and test for a day or so to figure out which one causes the wake up:banghead:
my screen on returned with the enabled tunein alarm option. i wrote them a support ticket and hope they will adress that issue as fast as possible.

Yep, it's an app causing the issue. AudioGuru used to do it to me (whenever it changed profile the screen would light up). Since the latest version it no longer does it

it is caused by an application. usually caused by live wallpapers. install dr.web antivirus scan, remove suspicious app. :good:

I've had my g3 for a couple days now but twice I've noticed the vibration will stop working. Everything is turned on for vibration but still no go. A reboot fixes everything. Anyone else seen this?

I've had the same thing happened to me twice. The only work around I know of is to reboot the phone. After a few times, I haven't had it happen again (fingers crossed).
Hopefully it stops then but I have a feeling it will come back

This happened to me once about 5 days ago. Thought it was just a fluke, but it happened again earlier today. After restarting, it happened again about 45 minutes after the restart... I'm already on my second G3... I don't want to have to exchange it again
Mine did this too

I think it's safe to assume it is software related. If a reboot didn't fix it then I would think hardware.
Sent from my LG-D851 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Keeps happening to me also every few days, no idea why.
Happened to my D852. Likely a software issue. I doubt exchanging will do anything.
I haven't had this issue on either of my two G3's, but I'm just tossing some steps out there to see if it might resolve it without rebooting.
Did you try the notification panel button to put it into Vibrate then back to Sound to see if it forces the Vibrate again? Also pushing it into Vibrate causes the phone to Vibrate as you do it. If vibrates doing that, you can assume it's a software issue and not a hardware issue.
Also, in the Settings menu under Sound, did you try checking the Vibrate Strength menu? Perhaps moving those slides might jolt it back or reset it via software without you having to reset your phone.
Just some ideas to see if perhaps using the UI might awake the software settings without rebooting everything to fix it. :silly:

Yep, I tried switching sound modes to quiet, to vibrate, to sound again; and I still can't get vibration to work until a proper reboot.
I have the same issue happening randomly. Has to be software related. Wouldn't stress much on it. I'm sure it will be fixed in a future update. Seems to be a global issue.
And now it happened to me =( I thought it was from deleting bloatware (Stock F400S 10k) but after restarting all work.... I'm thinking about selling G3 for Meizu MX4

I have had this happen once a day at least for the last few days.. A reboot does fix it.. But that doesn't seem to be a solution in the long term to me. I tried the messing with the sounds from the settings menu as well as trying different vibration patterns nothing works.. Its driving me nuts.
