extract from backup file - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Going mad. BA fell over so had to do hard reset. I had a backup file but that seems to have the corruption in it. I am rebuilding from scratch but I need some notes that are in the backup file. Does anyone know if I can extract them somehow?

making a backup

This may be a silly question but rather than use software that takes an image of your Universal (like SPB Clone, or Norton Ghost on a desktop) would it not be possible to make a backup of the registry, then just copy that and the entire directory structure of the Universal to a folder on your PC?
Then, if you have to hard reset, just copy it back, install the registry settings, and bingo!
Or is life not that simple?

[Q] Finding the original name of the Backup Folder

So this is why my backups usually give me a md5 mismatch, and I end up re-doing everything manually (or using titanium when possible)-
I've been renaming the backup folders to something meaningful, like "4-1-11 SFR110Vision11"
All this time I've just been screwing myself. But it's OK, because I learned something.
Q- Is there a way I can determine what the original folder name was??? to change it back?

[Q] view stored memos on previous nandroid backup?

Hey guys,
asked this question in the wrong section so I'm asking it here.
Is it possible to extract an old nandroid backup to view memos I may have had?
I don't want to restore the backup, I know something in it is wrong as it would freeze on bootup after I tried a restore, that isn't important. What is important is there were memos stored on that backup that I need back.
I used unyaffs to extract system.img, but everytime I try and extract data.img (which is where I'm guessing the memos are stored) I get a popup in windows 7x64 that says unyaffs.exe has stopped working.
I copied data.img off my sdcard and am trying to extract through windows terminal.
Can someone tell me if I am correct in thinking the memos would be stored in the data.img and where they might be located and why I am unable to extract data.img?
Thanks in advance!

nandroid.md5 files explore

Hi there,
I have some previous backups (nandroid.md5) files and I would like to explore them in order to retreive some files.
I am looking for a way through mac or win 7. I do not want to restore te back up version.
Any ideas ?
I don't know about files but you can get apps from a nandroid via appextractor
And PLZ!!!!!! QUESTIONS IN THE GENERAL SECTION...... EVEN IF THEY ARE DEV RELATED!!!
The md5 contains only the files' checksum which is used to check if is corrupt or not. You really can't extract any information from them.
The main content lies in the other files.
You can use unyaffs to extract and view the files.
The sd-ext partition is backed up in tar format so you extract it using tar.

Great tool for extracting single files/folders from a nandroid backup without restoring.
It's been very usefully for me.
sorry guys my mistake.
I need to retrieve all camera photos from a backup image.
I just noticed that the md5 file is too small to contain images and I found some .img files.
Is there a way I can extract them straight to my pc and not from the phone?
I find it hard to locate the files through nandroid browser.
Thanks a lot for you help and apologise for the incovenience.

Your camera pictures are saved to the sdcard and not a nandroid backup look in the DCIM folder on your SD card

Black Notes Hybrid problem to extraxt files?

Hello,
thats my first Post here and my English is not so good.
I downloaded the New Black Notes Hybrid but when i want to extract both files with winrar or 7zip it says Hybrid2.part1.rar
crc false at system.ext4.tar.Unexpected end of archive.
I downloaded the both files for a 2 times cause i thought it's about bed download.
What are you think?
I'm already running Kezra's Value Pack.Should i back to stock before i restore this with cwm5?
Thanks a lot.
With the two files you downloaded, put two of them into a new folder. Then open winrar and find the folder you put the two downloaded files into. Now just extract part1.rar and it will automatically extract part2 for you as well. Then copy the backup to your phone and use CWM to restore the backup
Just the same thing.
Hello snwman
it was my Kaspersky internet security.
He clear some data from rar archive.
i disabled him and downloaded again
no problem.
everything right.
thanks
Using Avast, i had the problem that in every custom rom i downloaded probably a root- or systemfile caused a virus-alert and the av software tried to manipulate the folder extracting the potentially infected file out of the zipped container.
Hi,maybe i have the same problem..I'm trying to install the black notes Rom second generation,I've download both 2 parts; and extract the first one in my sdcard with 7zip,but when i try to extract the second part the computer say: error damaged file.. Why?
Anyone know how i can do?

Hello,
disable first your internet security or antivirus program or whatever,
then download both files AGAIN and put into new folder.
then mark and unzip only the part1.rar it would be unzip both files.
then put into cwm/backup folder and restore after fullwipe.
let me know if does work.
hi,thanks now it works
