Will a rom upgrade reset the phone to the original settings? ie reset the the locking code etc.
As since trying the unlock prog my phone is now dead and i was hoping this may cureit as Orange can't help and i don't have insurance
it will reset everything apart from being sim locked
rom upgrade
So i would be wasting my time trying it then

I have a M5000 (ORANGE).Before unlocking, i could switch it on and off anytime and off and on anytime without waiting for an hour or 4 hours.
After Unlock, I can try to switch on the device without success. I tried everything. If i connect charger, it shows Red light only. If i remove the Battery and try after a while (30 min, sometime after two hours), it can come ON and I can use it normally.
I upgraded Boot but no Change, I Full upgraded with the latest upgrade but no chance,I load QTEK still no Chance.Battery works nice on another SPV.
What can i do???
Thanks

I think the Orange SPV M5000 comes unlocked. When I bought mine it was already unlocked and I could use the SIM of any country.
Try doing a hard reset to factory defaults. Also try synchronising with the computer as soon as it gets on and download VJBigphone or some software to fix your pc. Anyways this sounds really weird, because when i bought mine it was already unlocked. You shouldnt try to unlock an unlocked device, might result to hazardous errors.

Heh I never came accross this unlocking code thing. Cant you get the unlocking codes off the internet? Is it like some random number which you enter and after that you can use another SIM Card? I think what the software does is it enters the unlocking code for you but in this process the ROM might have been damaged due to registry modification. But i suggest you do a hard reset and go back to factory defaults and try to use the unlocking software again and again till you get it perfectly right without any of those powering up issues. I am sure it will work. lol... if i was sitting beside you right now i would have fixed it. Maybe you are skipping some essential step.

Probably YES probably NO.
I ve done quiet a number of MDA PRO using the same process with no problem. This is my first M5000, I can confirm the device was ok before unlocking.I know i did everything at my own risk.I did all types of reset. Still the same, switch on whenever it wants.
I Upgraded the MDA to WM6, worked fine and everything went okay for a while until I decided I wanted to use a NOMI sim card, and hadn't unlocked it.
I used lokiwiz to get the unlock code but there was nowhere to enter the it on the cooked WM6 ROM and it never displayed the sim lock screen, so I tried to downgrade it to the original T-mobile UK ROM just to do the SIM lock but the PC decided to crash as it was at 40%.
So it now freezes on the splash screen, and doesnt boot at all. I was thinking I could skim it accross the river maybe?
IPL 2.21.0001
SPL 2.21.0lip
GSM 02.19.11
OS 2.21.2.6
If theres nothing that can be done then in that case, does anyone want to buy an MDA? going cheap. Just call me on my mobile.. erm.. on second thoughts better just send me an email.
cheers
There is still nothing wrong its just failed flash process. Take the battery out and once you got boot screen .....run the upgrade process again. There is lots of info about this here on xda. just search for it.
Hi all, I've been battling this problem for days now. Airplanr mode is stuck 'Turning off...' and wont connect to my mobile carrier. Things I've tried:
Restarting phone with and without SIM inserted
Factory reset from settings
Factory reset from recovery mode
Flashed to the same build twice using the flash from SD card method (build 3.36.709.3)
Turned airplane mode on and off with wifi/mobile data/NFC turned on or off
I have no idea what to do next. I doubt it's a hardware problem as the phone detects the sim card when I put it in and asks if it's O2 pay and go or pay monthly, so it can even read it, it's just the phone wont come out of airplane mode.
I am on holiday without a PC but feel free to post ideas that requires one. Device is currently S-on and unrooted. I would rather not root or s-off the device just yet, and would rather stay on stock ROM as it's still in warranty. Problem is, it's in the UK and the warranty is held in Taiwan, which means sending it internationally to get it fixed. It's also a problem as there is a language barrier between me and their support for phone calls and their live chat button appears to always be greyed out.
Edit: I found this for the M8 which I think is in the right direction:
"Even I started thinking same way but it wasn't hardware issue.
I used ##786# to reset the phone completly (it did asked me my MSL/SPC) and everything was wiped from the phone. ( I am sure this reset is different from normal factory reset)
now my phone is up and I can toggle Airplane Mode On & Off however now there is another thing which I came accross
1. No roaming option or extended options in "Mobile Data" option under Wireless & Settings
2. No Network Sharing option
Even tried after running RUU_M8_WHL_K44_SENSE60_SPCS_MR_Sprint_WWE_Harman_2 .16.654.4_R2_Radio_1.08.20.0612_4_NV_SPCS_1.52_003 _release_384670_signed_2"
How do I do this with the M9? aLogcat comes back with no MSL so I need a free unrooted way to get that, and that # code doesn't do anything on the M9 either!
Edit2: Tried*#*#4636#*#*
Option is there to turn on the radio, but pressing it does nothing. Changing preffered network type does nothing either (I select any option from the drop down and the original choice remains). SIM is with O2. Currently set to GSM/WCDMA/LTE
Please help -_-
damn you really tried an m8 RUU on M9? please don't be stupid! it will never work lol. is your phone unlocked, so you could flash twrp recovery? otherwise you need to find a RUU matching your mainversion/CID. but this time not from m8 lol

The M8 RUU was a quote from someone having the same issue on their M8. Sorry if that wasn't very clear. I am running a fresh M9 latest RUU, I'm not dumb enough to put an M8 RUU on it and the stock flash utility (download mode) isn't either.
I still haven't found a solution to this. Can anyone help?
tried in *#*#4636#*#* on the menu button the frequency option? if you are fully stock, ask HTC, if they have no other fix, send it for warranty
I've tried everything in that screen. Here is what I have also tried today:
Bootloader unlocked
Custom recovery installed
Rooted
Model number and CID changed to developer model
Developer rom installed (android lollipop) same problem
Latest developer edition firmware installed
ViperOne 4.3 installed, same problem
Cryno... Something... I forget the name, but another custom rom installed, same problem.
It's fair to say that the problem is probably hardware related. The SIM card is detected, but the radio willnot turn on. In this instance, what is the most likely hardware cause? Is it worth replacing the sim card reader or is it more likely to be a chipset issue? I would be happier replacing the sim reader if the sim was not detected at all.
Btw, all the custom software stuff was done because HTC Taiwan said they wouldn't touch it. According to them it's out of warranty even though UK support say it's in warranty with the taiwan support centre.
Standard device, running 4.4.2, not rooted or changed other than by downloads provided by KIES, originally on 3 Ireland network, was unlocked and moved to Vodafone over 12 months ago with no issue, using unlock code provided by 3 after the end of contract period was reached.
Had a few strange issues recently but nothing I could be sure of, then one night this week, the phone locked and would not accept any key presses. Removed battery to force power down, then restarted, which has always worked in the past on the rare occasions when this has happened, but this time, when it restarted, it asked for a Sim Network Unlock PIN, which at the time I didn't recognise as being the unlock code supplied by 3.
I don't know if there are issues about the number of times this code can be entered, if there are, due to all sort of errors by Vodafone Support, that limit has probably been exceeded.
The other possibility is that a hardware issue has developed, but as it is only the phone network won't work, my instinct is telling me that this is a software and security issue that may have been triggered by too many failed unlock requests, though it still asks for an unlock code on power up.
So, what have I tried. After several frustrating calls with Vodafone and Samsung support failed to resolve the issue, I dismissed the PIN request and made sure I had some backups of things like Contacts, which worked, so the phone can communicate via USB, and it's also working with no issues via WiFi networking, as I can access things like Facebook via WiFi. My Google account is also working, it's downloaded and updated the applications that are installed on the phone,
In the absence of any real assistance from Vodafone or Samsung, in desperation, I've tried a factory reset, and also tried wiping the cache, but neither of these options are getting rid of the Unlock Sim request, which suggests to me that there is a flag or code somewhere deep in the system that's not allowing a full reset, and that may be related to too many failed Network PIN Entries.
Can I recover this phone, or am I better to just abandon it and get a replacement device, which in all honesty I don't need, the Note II is doing all I need at the moment, and a replacement is going to be an expense I'd rather not have to commit to right now.
I have all the details of the versions, IMEI etc, they are all accessible from within the phone using various *# codes, and they all are still correct and match what they should.
Talking to a local repair shop, if they ask for an unlock code, they are saying that the code they get will be the same as the one I already have received from 3, and as that seems to be not working, they are saying there's no point getting a code from them.
So, where do I go from here? Somehow, I think I need to find a way to wipe everything in the phone, and then reset the IMEI to the correct value, which should in theory allow the device to work again, and recognise the unlock code. That's a lot more than I've done on a phone, I'm computer literate, but not Android and phone experienced, so a lot of the buzz words are not familiar, or mean different things to what I've been used to on other systems.
If I am going to be completely wiping it all, is there any way I can change the service provider to get rid of the issues with the network unlock code, or is that asking for more aggravations?
Thanks in anticipation.
There is a free method that can be used to sim unlock the sgh-i317m which is the North American version of the Note 2. You had to flash back to a stock 4.1.1 ROM, and follow this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2014982
The 4.1.1 ROM for the sgh-i317m Note 2 from sammobile.com does not include the 4.1.1 bootloader which is why the downgrade from stock 4.4.2 to 4.1.1 works.
Guys, Its been a long time since I messed with all this stuff but I'm looking for the most up to date method to bypass/remove screen lock. Back then I use to do it from sd card and odin. We have a phone of a friend that recently passed away and the mother is trying to get it unlocked. I have had no luck with software what is the work around considering they don't have his google password to reset it? All help is appreciated and may be able to compensate if successful . T.I.A.
