Preventing virtual keyboard

I have a notepad program which I use more than any other. Every time I open it with the phone in portrait mode, the virtual keyboard appears. Does anyone know a tweak or fix to stop this from happening?

[Q] How to prevent default keyboard reverting to Samsung Keyboard?

This seems really strange, but when-ever I connect an external keyboard to the Note II via USB, the default on-screen keyboard is switched back to the Samsung Keyboard *permanently* (not just while I'm using the external keyboard).
That is, when connecting the USB keyboard, Samsung switches the default on-screen keyboard to the Samsung keyboard, and shows a note claiming that the Samsung Keyboard must be used (without giving any choice about reverting your default keyboard).
There seems to be no good reason for this, as the USB keyboard continues to work fine when I manually switch the on-screen keyboard back to Swiftkey or Google Keyboard (my preferred on-screen keyboards). It seems it's some sort of arbitrary glitch, but I can't figure any way to get around this problem, on a non-rooted device. There seems to be no way to configure this and no way to simply disable the Samsung Keyboard (which I never want to use). Doubtless this is Samsung-specific.
Anyone got any tips for me, save for rooting the device which I don't want to do?

Found a solution the other day. Use the Hardware Keyboard Action in Secure Settings.

Default keyboard android 5.0.2

Hey guys
So currently I have SwiftKey and six axis controller installed both of which need to be enabled in language and input settings to work which they are with no problem. Although for some strange reason six axis controller will take over as the default input method even if I set it to be SwiftKey it will always eventually go back to six axis!
It's annoying because whenever I want to make a quick note or use my tablet quickly for something the keyboard won't pop up automatically and instead I find myself having to drag down the notification tray to change the input method.
Is there anyway I can have them both enabled and both work as they should?
Thanks
Alex

Matepad Pro 10.8, magnetic keyboard issues

Hey Folks,
I have a Matepad Pro 10.8 (MRX-W09) running HarmonyOS 2.0.
I've encountered an issue that is starting to become a little frustrating and that has left me stumped.
The official Huawei Magnetic Keyboard will not connect at all.
If I attach the case and open to either of the grooves, all that happens is a single flash of the caps lock key.
Nothing else, the connect keyboard popup doesn't appear.
I initially thought that it may be a battery issue as I hadn't used the keyboard in quite a while.
So I left the keyboard connected in open position and charged, still no change.
I can find the keyboard when I do a manual search via Bluetooth.
Shows up fine, but pairing always fails.
Any tips on how I can resolve this would really be appreciated.
