hello to all!
I'm a new user with a little problem:
in Bluetooth Connection Manager my PDA say:
Bluetooth deactivated.
Insert a Bluetooth card to turn it on :?
When I tap the Bluetooth Manager pda give me an error:
The Bluetooth radio failed to turn on due to insufficient drive memory available. You must perform a normal reset before you can turn on the bluetooth radio.
I have 70 mb free for programs.

I found the problem!
I have the Windows Startup Folder completely empty.

I have got a 1gb SD card in my Orange SPV M2000 which i use all the time, i never take it out, but occasionally my Storage Card folder dissapears s i cannot load apps on the storage card. A soft reset restores everything, but it gets annoying especially when i sych my music off my media center pc, because when the storage card is not available it fills up my internal memory with the music instead and i have to manually delete it.
my next problem concerns Bluetooth & Wifi i can only have one on at a time. i have bluetooth on at all times and when i start wifi it does not turn on until i do a soft reset, but then i recieve an error on bootup that bluetooth can not switch on due to lack of driver memory. i can then use wifi without bluetooth but i then need to turn wifi off and do a soft reset again to get bluetooth working.
I have over 30mb storage and 30mb program memory and no adjusting of the slider will get this working. (i can find a setting for driver memory)
does anyone know how i can resolve this as i would like to use wifi quickly without the rigmarole of a soft reset.
can anyone else run Wifi and bluetooth at the same time on thier blueangel?? if so what rom version are you running?
I am running the rom versions below, its a cooked rom
Hi Fuzzysb
I had the same issues on the O2 UK ROM 1.31 WWE and to a lesser extent on the i-mate 1.40.176WWE.
I recently switched to the O2Asia ROM (in my signature block below) and things have improved a whole lot. This ROM has a much nicer wireless manager implementation and I can switch between GPRS and Wi-Fi very easily, with BT running all the time. I still get some out of memory messages and have difficulty accessing BT Settings and BT Manager, but one the whole much less than with other ROMS.
hope that helps
Regards
Chris
I seriously need to upgrade to the 1.40 rom. i havnt found the confidence yet as it invalidates the garauntee.
give me confidence ... o lord.
Hi alitech
Well, since the wiki site also has all the original shipped ROMS posted, you can always reflash it back to your original ROM, if for some reason you have to return your device. If you read the wiki site, you will see that you can use the MAUdate utility to flash any of the WWE ROMS to your device. then use it again to flash it back to the original shipped ROM if you ever need to. Hope that helps

Hi,
Every so often TomTom on my orbit loses sight of the maps I have on my storage card. I can't see any reason for this and have to recover from a phone backup . Once the internal memeory of the phone is recovered the maps are then visible.
Any ideas on what may be getting corrupt?
Cheers,
Neil
No answers but join the club and email HTC Tech Support.

HTC P3300 loosing TomTom Maps
Me too. Italian OS. Once I even had to reactivate the map, after the restore. Last time that I launched TomTom receiving a msg of the type "Cannot find maps..." I just made the PDA restart with a soft IPL. Will you believe? At the restart TomTom didn't complain for any map missing.
Maybe it's a matter of low available memory when TomTom cannot locate maps.
Hope this might help you. Let us see, if anyone else is posting his experience.
Thanks for your comments.
Once TomTom loses it's maps, a soft rest wont allow it to see them, I just keep on getting the message and the opportunity to download a free one from the website.
I did a bit of playing around last night and can confirm that a hard reset then allows TomTom (installed on the Storage Card) to see the maps (I don't need to reinstall, just run the exe file) so it looks to me as if its something getting corrupt in the standard internal memory of the phone and that this is causing the loss of maps.

This is an SD card corruption issue. Email HTC to lobby for a fix. See the relevant thead.
I don't see that it's storage card corruption. If you read my last post you would see that the SC was left alone when a hard reset was performed. The hard reset would only affect the internal memory and that cleared the issue.
I think something is getting corrupted in the internal memory and not letting TomTom find the path to its maps. Maybe something is messing up a registry entry?
believe me. I have had this problem over 10 times in the last month. When the tomtom maps go missing, the map folder is usually empty. This can normally be rectified by softg-reseting the device which uses the backup FAT for the SD card (so I've read in the relevant thread) and restores the missing files. However, if the device attempts to write to the card again, after corruption (which TT does on application exit) then the card will be permenantly corrupted.

During a reset (hard or soft) WM5 will do a version of scandisk on any storage devices connected (Micro SD) which will try to fix FAT errors. So a reset does effect the SD card and can repair it.
OK RicardoC & debully, thanks for your advice.
I have already emailed HTC tech support a while ago. You know, I still think Resco file explorer may be the common link to my SD card woes..... I'll have to wait and see.

Bluetooth possibly
Hiya,
I had this problem and it seemed to be linked to the bluetooth explorer setting a new storage card (virtual), if you get this problem go into settings and turn off bluetooth explorer and check what storage options are available from the memory settings, the bluetooth storage should have disappeared. Once I'd done this tomtom could find the maps again.
Hope this helps.... and you don't actually have SD problems....

thank you!
i have tryed that and it seems to do the bussiness
This also happens if you have Bluetooth Explorer activated in your Bluetooth settings.
TT6 losing maps, you are not alone.
I know this doesn't excatly help, but I don't think that this is unique to the artemis.
I have the same problem with TT6 on my himalya (XDAii). It seems to be linked to either phone S/W or BT stack as I have had it happen to me several times after I have made or received a call. My workaround is to remove and reinsert the SD.
Has any one checked if other handheld PC users have similar probs (HP?) with TT6?
I have used TT6 with no problems on X51v.
Only had the problem on the Orbit when the Bluetooth Explorer was activated.
Hi,
I had the same problem on my Orbit, never experienced the SD corruption though. I eventually solved the Map problem by following the instructions, not sure where I got them from, perhaps somewhere on this site.
The instructions stated the following:
1) create an empty file on your PC and name it 'autorun.exe'
2) create a directory named '2577' at the same level as your maps.
3) copy the empty autorun.exe file to the 2577 directory
this did the trick for me
Removed the Bluetooth explorer from the Bluetooth installing settings from the Comm manager and hey presto, maps are back.
Rock and Roll.
I unhid the ext_rom using:
[HKLM\System\StorageManager\AutoLoad\TRUEFFS_DOC1]
Bootphase=dword:2
[HKLM\System\StorageManager\Profiles\TRUEFFS_DOC1]
MountHidden=dword:0
At first I saw ext_rom folder with a few files on it ... I tried to copy them to my micro sd card but recieved an error message saying they are write protected... I tried copying those files again to my computer but my artemis hanged... now I soft reset... i can still see the ext_folder with the files on it... then i soft reset again after that, no more files in the ext_rom folder... I decided to do a hard reset but after that Tomtom did not install...
I know I did not unlock the ext_rom prior to unhiding it...
I managed to unhide ext_rom folder again and clicked on properties.. it shows Total space=14.91Mb, Used=6.24Mb, Free=8.67Mb... I still dont see the files in it...
I guess its still there and it just doesnt auto install after hard reset... how do I activate it again???
Pleas help!
Prior to the program disapearing did you update the TomTom software to vesion 6,030 - Since doing this my Artemis refuses to auto install from the ROM following a hard reset, to install I either locate the Autorun file on the memory card, or connect up via the TomTom Home application which should find the device and offer the update/ installation - Mike

Yes I did... the original installation was 6.020... so i updated to 6.030... have you tried Unhiding your ext_rom?
What else is in the ext_rom anyway? is there any important file in there?
No I have not messed around with the external ROM (yet) - as you have TT 6,030 is there a file on your memory card to install the application? - if not simply fire up TomTom Home on the PC with the Artemis connected and it will install what you need - Mike

NO I have deleted everything from the mem card...
Yes I did use tt home to reinstall tt navigator back to my Artemis...
So far my artemis works perfect... but still Im not happy with the ext_rom not showing the files...
Does anyone know how to re-enable the ext_rom to install after hard reset???
Hi all
I hope someone can help me with this I'm using an XDa Artemis and I have TT6. I have previusly copied files from the TT6 SD card direct to my storage card on my device and the system picked up the necessary installation files and sorted it from there.
However every now and then when I started TT6 on the device, it would fail to recognise the location of the maps though the software appeared to be working ok. The resolution to this was to re-set the device and wait for it to reload the software. (a bit of a pain but...)
Just lately the device and or TT have failed to start properly no matter what I do. I have tried re-installing the files, I have removed the TT software from the XDa using add remove progs.
I can not now get the Xda to recognise the newly copied files to a newly purchased staorage card irrespective of whether I install to the device direct or to the storage card when installed in the comuter.
My TT home software does not recognise my device and I'm stumped...
Any advice welcome, particularly in relation to getting the TT Home software to recognise my device and allow me to install the software direct from the C rather thn thru the above methods would be great.
Thanks
Pete
check you setting for the GPS Port in the TT& software. the baudrate should be set on standard 4800 and the com port ist Nr. 4 (usually the one at the top. if it still doesn't run, then try hard-reset your pda and also formatting the sd card and start reinstalling the whole TT6 package
Thx for that, yes it's all ok and I had already done all of that except hard reset. (trying to avoid that as I dont want to spend days re-installing all my other apps).
What I've done is purchase a new card, copy the TT^ data across to it and that seems to have worked (fingers crossed). Since doing this my device has only once failed to recognise TT6 so I'm hopeful....
Cheers
Pete
Hi
I have the following Car PC sdbt79nv from Lanzar ( http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_16576_Lanzar+SDBT79NV.html ).
Tech specs :
- CPU 400MHZ (manufacturer unknown)
- 128 MB DDR RAM
- 128 MB NAND Flash
- Windows CE 5.0 ( as written in the user manual )
It has a USB port (that reads only flash USB)
It has a SD slot
In the shipped SD 2 GB card, with preloaded maps of usa canada and mexico a GPS Navigation application igo8 was included. It is launched by pressing "NAVI" button
Once installed in my car, I found that Windows mobile was "locked" .
Only *.txt and audio and video files can be browsed and executed.
I can not install any additional application on the SD card.
In the SD card :
there is only the maps.
the navigation program is in the unit.
i am fron greece and i tried to put the greek maps but i cant put the licence of the map because i canot comunicate with the unit.
i tried to connect via active sync and nothing done.
i tried also to connect a usb keyboard but again nothing
Do you have any idea how to :
- put the license of the igo8 in the unit or how to change the navigation programm
- unlock the installed Windows in order to have a "real" Car PC on which I can install my programs
Thanks for your help
