I am unable to delete a SMS I received. I cannot read it or delete it. I can still use teh SMS function sending and receiving and deleteing but am unable to delete this one SMS.
Any ideas thank you
If you use a program such as dbExplorer http://www.phatware.com/hpcdbex.html you can find the table containing your SMS data and manually remove the entry.
To find the table is slightly tricky as I believe that with every hard reset the folder name changes. Look in your inbox for the total number of texts you've received, then look through the tables for one with the same number of records - as this table is usually one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) it should stand out. The record structure should be in chronological order, so to go the corresponding record (one of the TEXT fields should contain the text message content, and you can then remove it.
As to why it's happened in the first place, I don't know. Are you able to delete other messages or is it ALL messages you try?
Cheers
Ant
Thanks Ant that helped. Waynec
Have come to this one rather late.
Can you tell me how to find the tables please and will Resco Explorer do the trick.
I am trying to find the file containing my SMS files to transfer to a new machine.
Thanks

My inbox shows 6 messages, but once you clik to enter, it only shows 1K on the right side and nothing ever opens up, the rest of folders seem OK, even new ones. It is something that affects only SMS messages and that I could not repair by reinstalling the program.
Has anyone faced the same problem and found a solution? It is rather annoying when you are abroad, like I am now, not being able to read any of my text messages.
Thanks,
gonz
Slightly different I think, mine would show that I had new text messages but would not display them, the inbox would appear empty, I was using Sprite backup, and discovered that sometimes it would corrupt the mail database after a restore, so downloaded their cleanmail program.
http://spritesoftware.crmdesk.com/answer.aspx?id=141&back=browse.aspx#p17
It will all delete all email accounts, text messages and the MMS account but I don't use mms so not to bothered.
Thanks, will try, although it seems I will not be able to read some txt messages, but looks like the only option.
i never thought cleanmail is so useful.
after restoring from a hard reset, about 800+ messages got corrupt and showed up as 1kB messages that wouldnt ever open.
cleanmail trashed em all just like bubbles.
Thanks a lot! Once my text messages account disappered and it can only be fixed with hard reset. With this program i was able to restore from backup and fix the problem! Thanks again!
WHAT A USEFUL TIP
Hey! This cleanmail thing is fantastic!
WHAT A USEFUL TIP.
I don't know who I want to marry more - spritesoftware for coding the app or bluetba for giving the heads-up!

I have made my own ROM and got my PPC as I wanted it.
I setup the messaging with the required operator numbers etc. When testing I am able to receive SMS messages but when I send or reply to any they end up in the drafts folder and not being sent out.
I wonder if I missed out any necessary cab files? I have what I thought is the right file Alpine_SMS05272005.sa.CAB or am I missing something else?
I hope some one can help. THX
Hi guys,
Is there an easy way to select and delete a lot of SMS messages or emails?
I use my Orbit for work/on call and when things really go wrong we might be alerted with 40+ SMS in a couple of minutes. It's a real pain in the backside deleting them individually....is there any easy way to do it?
Hi Fingery,
You can do a multiple select by just swiping over all the messages to highlite them all then select delete at the bottom of the screen..
If they come in at irregular intervals and you have messages you want to keep scattered around them then goto Menu>>tools>>sort by and sort by name thus collecting them all together then do a multiple select. Remeber to put the sort by back to received after your finished.
Dont forget to empty your delected items when your ready as it can chew into your memory very quickly.

Check out the My Mobiler thread above
I was able to delete multiple SMS and e-mails using the programme. Just select individual or groups of messages using the Windows [Ctrl] or [Shift] and left mouse function
Hey, I've searched the forum and am having trouble finding the way to get the sms function working properly when using the photodialer. Any answers? I would really appreciate it. I am familiar with using Total Commander, so I think that I need to edit the info in the contact file on my storage card. I have edited the phone number and it will call them, but I still am unable to get the sms function to work, any help would be greatly appreciated.
You need to edit the SMS shortcut in order to do that.... There's two different shortcuts setup, one to dial the contact and another to SMS the contact.
I don't know what to edit. It says that the exe file is tmail.exe. I know that that is correct. Next it says -service "SMS" -to "+1-555-555-1234". I know to change the phone number to whatever I need it to be, but it still pops up "Error finding target file or shortcut..." So this really leaves me at dead stop. I have no idea what to alter the "-service sms" part of the file to make it work correctly.
there should be 2 settings per contact look cosely. 1 for dialing and the other for setting the SMS.
I know about the two different lnk files. I am checking only the one that includes the sms lnk. If someone could just post what their link that works correctly looks like without including the phone number, that would be helpful.
it should look like this
34#"\Windows\tmail.exe" -service "SMS" -to "+" -body ""
were the + singn you put your number in
My line of code looks exactly the same. It says as follows:
34#"\Windows\tmail.exe" -service "SMS" -to "+1-xxx-xxx-xxxx" -body
and when I press the link in the bottom right corner of the screen that says "Send SMS" it says:
Error opening the shortcut or locating the target filename.
That's what happens every time. I tried rebooting several times. My SMS works if I go through the message center. Doesn't make any sense. Do you see some syntax error that I'm missing?

you have to edit the registy use oldsap favorites to do it for you
Got it to work. You have to edit the registry in two different places. One is in the security\CHome\DefaultSettings\CPhotodialer section and the other place is in the HKLM\Microsoft\CHome\CphotoDialer section. For some reason the photodialer stuff is in both folders. I don't know why, but as soon as I edited both places in the registry and rebooted, it worked. So use the above entries without the "-body" part in the line and everything should work fine for everyone with a T-Mobile Dash.
I recently used Jeyo Mobile Companion to move all my text messages (sent and received) older than a certain date to a seperate folder. Now, at random, when I send a text message, that entire thread of messages will delete from my phone. All my other messages from other contacts are not affected, only the thread of text with the contact I texted.
Of course I did all of this before I took a vacation, and am not currently able to undo the move of messages.
I checked the archive folder to see if maybe my missing threads had been moved to there, but they have not, they are just gone. This only occurs when I send a message, it has not happened otherwise. And it is at random, not every thread deletes. Let me know if you need more details. Oh, stock AT&T ROM, WM 6.5. Thanks.
Nobody else has experinced this? I'd appreciate any suggestions for restoring the lost texts (if possible) and for preventing it from happening again.
Just an idea. Not sure since I don't use the particular software you mentioned to auto delete messages.
The reason for your problem may stem from having threaded messaging enabled. If you have it enabled, this means that in the default WinMo messaging app, you can't delete particular messages. You have to delete the whole thread. It's all or nothing. (Note, it's possible to delete individual messages via Manila)
Disable threaded messaging with Advanced Config tool and see if your problem disappears.
I moved the messages back to the correct folders (sent and inbox) and everything seems to have corrected itself.
