PERFECT TODAY BACKGROUND USING UR OWN PICS - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

As u probably know ticking 'use pic as background' in today screen leaves backgroud pic washed out..
If u want to use ur own pic u have to download a theme generator to make a tsk file....
Heres what i found ....... load what ever pics u want onto ur xda2s or any htc phone, storage card or into my documents into a folder of ur choice,
and heres the way to get them on as the background.
Open up 'album' in your programs files and select the folder where u stored ur photos , now choose a photo u like ,it will open up onto the screen now click on tools tab along the bottom and click'set as today background' and ur done...
If ur in landscape mode and ur pic is taken as normal it will fit perfect..
If ur in potrait mode choose a pic that has been taken long ways .
U can always rotate the pics before u put them on ur phone to suit.
hope this helps .....

DUDE.... the pic doesn't wash out... you gotta set the trasparency value to your likings... you've just discovered the wheel

kavana rom... sliping panel issue!!

hey love the rom!! but is there a way or registry edit to make the sliding panel's picture album to read from the sd chip instead of internal memory?! ANYBODY?

this may sound absurd (i thouth it was until i tried it) but do this:
create a folder called "pictures" in the main directory on your storage card. then put your pictures in that folder. go back to your homescreen and you will notice that those pictures are now included in your pictures now.
The pictures sliding panel plugin is hard-coded to look in specific locations. Unfortunately in the excalibur our camera's store in \my documents\my pictures (on either main or storage card) and this location is not in the list.
to fix this would require hacking the hard-coded list, in whichever file that is in.

The only thing you can do is follow my instructions in the above mentioned steps and cut & paste your pics to see them on the home screen. I know that if you take pics they wont immediately go into that folder, but you can still move them after the fact. Hey, it's not perfect , but it's the best we've got at the moment
Yea it's really easy...Just make that folder and copy them over...attached are some regular sliding panel homescreens that I modified to have the pictures on there and not the media...I don't use my Dash as a mp3 player so I didn't want that taking up space and having to go past it everytime.
http://rapidshare.com/files/101610342/Modified_Sliding_wPictures.rar.html
You can just edit the XML file. you will see a string of options within the sliding panels plugin, chome, pictures etc. just remove the ones you do not want.
\application data\home
e.g.
<plugin clsid="{E9267CAB-02EE-4f37-8216-6BF6A8FF5A71}" name="Bronze" height="266"><Plugins Order="CClock;CHome;CAppointments;CWelcomeCenter;CWindowsLive;Settings"/></plugin></home>
Yeup that's what I did...just added the CMyPictures for the pictures to show on the regular sliding themes, just wish there was a way to edit the appointments and have it show more

Holy Sh!t it worked ive been trying to do this for ever...thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you're using one of Ricky's later ROM's, you can go to the Settings Panel and Click on the last link in that panel. It will allow you to enable/disable panels. Less panels=faster screen flow.

Testing new wallpapers

Hi guys
I have been playing with my pc and my G1,I am trying out some wallpapers, resolutions and little by little I like what I am getting.....this is not amazing and I am sure some of you have done something similar....but I thought it would be nice if I share it with you,so that we can share our ideas and thoughts. The resolution is 480x320,I will change the resolution and try others out.
Put the wallpapers on the same folder as your pictures once you've done that you can start using the new wallpapers.

Check the checkbox for “USB debugging.install the sdk and install the windows drivers from here http://www.anddev.org/debugging-installing_apps_on_the_g1_windows_driver-t3236.html this is all i did and it works for me on vista did not install eclipse or jdk just go to the tools folder in the android sdk main folder

Wallpaper problem
I created this wallpaper...... When going into photo viewer, it looks fantastic. Can zoom in without any dithering.
However, the moment I apply as my wallpaper, it looks like poop.
Have tried as a JPG and PNG

I do have root and will try that. Anyone wanna put this on their phone and see if it's just me?
When you select it as the wallpaper, do you expand the box to cover the whole pic? So far, every pic I've resized to 640x480 and thrown on have been absolutely flawless. I'm using paint.net to resize and convert them to jpg, if that makes a difference.

Yes I have.... Can you try and use it yourself and see what it looks like on your device?
When I use a 640x480 image and try and set it as a wallpaper it always asks me to crop it. Does it then strech the cropped image?
Im really confused about the wallpapers atm.
Btw, I know tmobile (in the UK) reduces image quality if you browse a image on the web via there data connection (eg save picture as, in the browser) but over wifi you loose no image quality.

Adding wallpapers to system default options
I wanted to add some wallpapers to the SD card but have them pop up under the phone wallpaper options instead of under photos. Is there a place on the SD card I can put them so they are grouped with the default ones? I have a lot of pics so it takes a long time to scroll through them to find my wallpapers so I am hoping I can make it a bit more organized.
The defaults reside in /system/app/Launcher.apk/res/drawable/
Can I add wallpaper and apps to an update.zip?
I have created a custom theme and I am wondering if I can just throw more .apk programs into the app folder to install additional programs?
Also, I am trying to add my own wallpaper to launcher.apk with the 2 file sizes and proper naming but they arent coming up, is there something else I need to edit to have them showup as "default" wallpaper?

Picture taking question

Hey everyone, I am using Duttys v3 xtreme rom and i was wondering why when taking photos, there are 2 files created everytime. Anyone know how to turn this function off? thank you.
what do you mean that 2 files are created. do you mean that every time you take a picture that there are two files created from one picture or that it asks you to take two pictures?
if it asks you to take more than one picture at a time, you have panoramic mode enabled. to get out, select the arrow with a box to access more options, then click on the middle icon to change mode.

Homescreen wallpaper won't change?

Hi guys, this is my first post, firstly I wanted to thank you all for your great advice that I have been reading over the months.
I have applied a wallpaper to my home screen a while ago but I fancied a change. I came to change it start>settings>today then the use this pic as a background tick box at the bottom. I loaded a pic onto the HD from my PC and tried to change the wallpaper to that one, but it won't, no matter what I do it stays the same. I don't even get the default HTC black one back.
I have a stock HTC rom, can any one help? Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks again
Go to Settings-->Wallpaper (in the settings manila tab).
If the picture is in your My Documents\My Wallpapers folder on your phone the pictures will then show up. If it is stored elsewhere eg Storage Card, select the More (left soft button) and browse to where the picture is saved and click on the photo you wish to use.
You are wanting to show the picture on your TF3D Home tab and not on the Today tab.
Thanks very much for your reply, sorted now, a simple oversight on my part, I feel so stupid!

[Q] How to make my own clock?

Hi all Lately I've seen a motorola milestone clock wich I would like to have on my blackstone. http://smartmobile.pl/androidy-na-ringu-htc-desire-vs-motorola-milestone The thing is, that I would like to know how to make it by myself I'm on stock rom wm 6.1 and using mUn background4alltabs and NoCurtains PLEASE HELP
reserved
is this realy such a noob question or just nobody dont know? PLEASE HELP ME
Clock
Hi stopa
Do make a clock like this one what we can see on the motorola is very easy
what you need is a little understanding for photoshop or simila I use GIMP fulfill all purposes what you need for a phone and it`s free and the tool from Chainfire cfc_gui for both tools (gimp+cfc_gui) I make a download link underneath,if you like to use it, at first what you have to do is !!! connect you phone with you PC go in you phone windows directory and copy all MANILA FILE on you PC if you can`t find the directory on you phone than you have to go on you PC to the taskbar and klick on (tools) than on (folder options) than on (view) you will see a small windows with all kind of stuff what you have to do is tick on (show hidden files and folders) that`s it after that you will see all you files and folder, maybe you know that all anyway.OK if you got all the manila file on you PC than open it with Chainfire tool (cfc_gui) this tool will ask you where you have stored all manila files, klick on the right folder where you have copy`t the fiels and he will open all the files it takes a couple a secound, you will see many many manila files and if you klick one of them than you will see a picture ,from the file, also shown the pixel size and many more you can copy it do work on it somewhere on you PC and open it with Photoshop, GIMP o simila what`s very good is on the tool cfc_gui you can see all at one glance (the weather files the setting files the photo files the clock files ,normaly very easy to use,you can than all you altered files replace, save or copy back to the phone, if you pick a manila file from the clock than you will see all what you need copy them with cfc_gui to you PC an change what you want.
some questions? don`t hesitate to ask !!
THNX MATE You're the best. Definitely will give it a try, and Yes I know Gimp I'm using it since three years. Cheers

Finally I found time to do this clock. Font taken from www.dafont.com called sf_planetary. Looks pretty good but I would still get rid of the thin line in the middle digits. If anyone could advise I will be very grateful. Onece again BIG THNX to lumisab for explanations and posting cfc_gui. Let the force be with You
Hi stopa
My advice go in cfc_gui to the clock manila files copy them do your PC opened with you GIMP and paint over the lines therafter copy the files back to the phone, that`s it
That's what I've done but no result. I think that's the place where flip clock conects. Probably have to use another way, like making clock a little bit smaller so it will fit in to a half of a stock clock numbers so the line will be no more visible. Have seen something like that but with different font. Will give a try when I have more time. Thnx for quick answer
It can`t be a conected place on the clock because it`s not mechanicle normally you can make the numbers in any size without the line in between I guess that you background the problem is try do make the background transperent and put afterwards the numbers in, unfortunately I can`t remember the original clock in my phone I change my clock long ago to a self made analogclock, but if you look in the forum you will see that no one has a line in the middle of the number "or neerly no one" and I`m sure it`s just a minor mistake P.S. why not try a analoglock underneath you can see 2 piture without lines one with transparent and one with white/gray background and my analogclock what I use in my Blackstone
Will check it when I'll be back home. Honestly I don't like analog clocks in ppc's (a matter of taste) got one on my hand so I don't need moore Thnx for tip
Thanks lumisab, always wanted to know how to do this.
