is it possible to add 2 mobile numbers for one contact? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

hi
i have pda2k and i need to add more than mobile number to each contact but there is only single space for the mobile
can i change this
thx for help

I use the assistant phone field for this but it doesn't necessarily identify it as a mobile number, some software does recognise it as one and some doesn't.

can u tell me any software to do this

Both Pocket Informant and Agenda Fusion have this field, I can't remember if Pocket Outlook (the build-in PIM) shows the field. Alternatively, add the second number via Outlook on your PC and sync. the change across.

i tried pocket information but still i can't add another mobile number under a single contact

What is the exact nature of the problem you are experiencing - can you explain why you see it as not accepting the number as a mobile?
There are loads of fields there you can use, try the car phone field instead, it should see that as a mobile type field.

Try Pocket Informant. here's the link www.pocketinformant.com

Contacts Display

Whenever I save new contacts from my phone, it saves them in the format "Lastname, Firstname". I would MUCH MUCH rather them save as "Firstname Lastname".
I know that this can easily be changed in Outlook for contacts that you store directly from you computer and then sync...but whenever I add someone from my phone, they always end up filed in the reverse order. Plus I use a Mac with Address Book not Outlook.
Is there a registry edit that will fix this? Or even easier...some setting that I have missed that will fix this?
If you scroll down enough, there is a field that allows you to select what display format you'd like.
Isn't that just by name or organization?
I only get an option to view by Name or Company.
I know for WM5 PocketPc Edition somebody had written a small utility called "ContactsFiler".
Does anything like that exist for Smartphone?

Start-up settings for XDA Orbit

I have installed Pocket Informant 2007 and set it as my PIM, however when I do a soft rest or turn off the phone the contacts page opens before I can type in my SIM card pin code, so I have to close PI Contacts to get at the keypad. This is only a minor irritation, but an irritation all the same, has anyone else come across this and how do I stop it?
Another thing that I would like to sort out is transferring my SIM contact numbers to my PI Contact list. I have numbers on the card that I don't have in the sync-able contacts and I want to update this list without having to retype all the numbers. Any ideas?

Windows Mobile 6 Pro Black Edition 3.0.1 - Help?

Since upgrading to Windows Mobile 6 Pro Black Edition 3.0.1, I've had a few problems that I wonder if you guys can help me resolve.
1) All of my contacts were erased and they don't seem to have been being backed up when I was synchronising...I don't imagine there's much I can do there.
2) When I add a new contact now, I can choose Live contact or Outlook contact, however no matter which I do, when I view my text messages, the contact name isn't displayed in the list of my current messages, only the number, I can only see the name of the contact when I actually open the message itself.
3) Active sync wont sync with my phone, it will copy PC files > Phone, but not Phone > PC.
4) How do I sort my contacts in to groups - for example emails, mobile numbers, home numbers etc? I can't figure this out.
I'm new to this lark, so laymans terms would be great!
Thanks.
Doesnt sound like its anything to do with the rom - more to do with your setup.
Get activesync working and all your outlook/server contacts will be syncd.
When you add a new outlook contact, make sure you put the international number format and ensure the mobile number is in the mobile number field. It will then show senders name on received texts.

How to manage contacts with multiple mobile numbers?

some of my contacs have multiple mobile numbers, i.e. work, private, car mobile.....so, how can i manage them since wm6 doesn't allow me more than one mobile number for every contact. i know thta i can use inesoft address book, but using this software, once i have choosen my contact,i cannot directly send an sms to the contact, or at least i haven't understood how to.
have you got any suggestion for me.....i'm really bored with this issue, my nokia n70, symbian 3rd edition can handle multiple numbers for avery contact.....
maybe there's no answer to my question?
you cant
heck you cant even do that in Microsoft Outlook
You'll have to make multiple contacts for a single person
John 1
John 2
for each mobile number
Anyway, you'd have to manually select which mobile number to send a SMS to That'd be faster to have multiple contacts.
Otherwise, if it's just for voice call, then just put anything (house, work, etc), doesnt matter.
Try out pocket informant 8, in the contact list it will show multiple chooses, maybe it will fit your need, they have trial version so you can take it for a test spin for free .
It will take some time to get use to but the one handed operation is great to look up contacts and click to dial, blows the contact list in WM5/6 out of the water.
I have used several versions of this, very stable and works great and it will sync with outlook.

Hmmm you cant save multiple entries for the same name in SIM no matter what phone you use.
In wm all you do is create a new contact, and when you do that create the contact as outlook contact...that way you can add multiple number, email, address, etc etc...
I know how you feel; it's a pain to have several mobile numbers for one contact when you want to SMS (voice dialling is fine)
Here is how it can work while maintaining only one contact in Outlook:
- Enter additional mobile numbers in Outlook under pager, car, other (or whatever you fancy)
- When you want to create a new SMS, do NOT start typing the name directly to get auto completion, click the To: field instead (or go through Menu -> Add Recipient)
- This brings up your contact list, and you can now choose your contact and select any of his/hers numbers to send the SMS to..
Hope this helps
I'm not sure what you're aiming for exactly. WM6 has a lot of options for multiple mobile numbers, and AFAIK, Symbian S60 v3 has fewer options, at least on my N73 ME it does.
you can do this by adding the number under another option e.g. home, create new text then select contact through the contacts option rather than typing their name in the to box, you'll get the option then to choose either phone number or email address.
never tried before, i'll test it, thx for your suggestion
it is a real silly problem, in PC outlook you can add private fields, but you will not be able to synchronize it with your ppc. hope we can find a good real solution for this.

Windows Mobile 6.0/XDA Orbit Queries

Hi all,
I'm using WM6 on my backup device, the XDA Orbit and have a few annoying niggles. Can anyone advise on the below?
1) I have 2 hotmail accounts - one personal, one business. I would like to have visibility of both in my messages window. To my knowledge, I can only use one at a time and have to switch accounts via Windows Live each time I want to view emails. Is there a way you can have both?
2) I can't seem to syncronise the new folders on the POP3 account I have. Is there a way? It's an O2 account. When I create a new folder on the XDA, it doesn't show when I log in via webpage & vice versa.
3) I'd like to be able to edit the caller display when someone calls. When a contact information is filled out in detail (i.e company, job title etc.), some of the information appears on the incoming caller display bubble. Ideally I just want the name, number and photo. Possible? Fussy I know
4) In WM5, you used to be able to turn WIFI on AND off via the GPRS icon (next to the phone signal icon/speaker/clock). In WM6, it seems you can only turn it on. I know it's lazy as the Comms Manager in the 'System Tray' is only a few taps away but is there anyway to resurrect the WM5 functionality or provide a link to a 3rd party app/plugin?
5) And finally...I'd also like a bluetooth plugin on the system tray for quick access - any links?
Thanks in advance,
GW
Q1 - 2 live mail accounts can be done by setting up 2nd account as POP3 but apparently you need a yearly MSN subscription to be able to use this. Will just make do with the one account!
Q2 - Been advised to set the account type to IMAP4 to be able to sync new folders although this doesn't seem to work with an O2 email account. Can live without it though.
Q3,Q4,Q5 - Appreciate these will require registry changes - does anyone know what strings/values to edit?
Q1: I have my hotmail via a outlook plugin called httpmail. I guess it would work also with two hotmail accounts.
Here is a link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=225779
Thanks, will check it out.
re: Q2, I don't think the sync can be done on POP3 accounts. Under Messaging > Account i.e. O2 > Tools > Manage Folders, when you click & hold on the new folder that's been created the only options are 'New Folder', 'Delete' or 'Rename'. There is 'Folder Options' but it's greyed out. There are no tick boxes next to the folder like there is for syncing a folder in the Windows Live account.
I've given up on Q4 but I'd really like to fix Q3 if possible, surely just a small registry change required there...just a case of finding what to edit! Anyone help with this?
230 views - come on, who can rise to the challenge of finding a fix for me
Just to summarise question:
is there a way (registry, 3rd party app. etc.) you can edit the details on the incoming caller display bubble. For example, when the 'company' field data is entered on a phone contact, it shows under the name & number when someone calls. Ideally I just want the name, number and photo, no other info.
Is this possible?
