How can open image file (*.img) on update from Windows 2002 to 2003?
In this file is all file need to firmware update .
I can do flah with lokalization and MMS .
this site is really mostly about the HTC pda's so it's not surden that anybody have any idear about other pdaphones and how they are modified or upgraded

Some days ago I have bought an Asus P535.
The S.O.'s language is ITALIAN....well, I have understand how change it to WWE....however, I don't understand Which ROM I can use !
On the Asus's site, there are the only (newest) firmware that I have found:
V4.3.25 (ONLY for Hong Kong user) - 47mb
V4.3.25 (ONLY for Taiwan user) - 47mb
...where is an WWE rom ???
P.s.
I have also found a "P535 Phone Module Firmware V4.5.0 - 1mb"
...is for ALL LANGUAGE ???

I haven't upgraded the rom myself, but I have installed that phone firmware upgrade on an australian rom.
And no, I don't know where to get the australian rom - the shop installed it for me and refused to give me a copy.
I found:

which one is the newest??

There's a couple of roms with 4.3.35 version but those are for taiwan and hongkong.
I've seen someone mention that the russian (RU) version has some russian rubbish that you do not want/need, so I suggest you go for the thailand (TH) or malaysia (MS) version.
I have never tried to change rom myself, so I am afraid I am unable to help you if you run into trouble. But please post your results, I want to try it at some point.

So far in this forum the ROM upgrade was academic.
Here is reality
My P535 is bricked!!
During Rom Update (following all the rules as posted) The process stopped.
It gets stuck on the start menu (Asus Screen).
The Hard reset does not work. ( Reset + Power button).
I can get to the bootloader screen (Power button + right mike(?) button+Reset)
and it just shows a screen with the waiting on.
Anyboby , can you help. Can I do hard reset another way?
It seems that ASUS offers the Rom Update if your ASUS P 535 is running and from the Mini sd card.
All the other Phone PDAs I had before (Qtek 100,s200, O2 atom, HP rw 6828. HTC (Dopod m700) P3300, HTC (Dopod D810) P3600 the bootloader did get the ROM Update file from the PC while in Activ Sync with the USB port. The bootloader in the ASUS products works differently.It does look for the usb connection but the ROM is in the miniSD. Am I doing something wrong?
Can someone point out the error of my ways?

I don't know if you did anything wrong. I also have an I-mate K-Jam (HTC Wizard) and it seems easy to recover from a failed upgrade on the wizard.
I haven't seen similar stories about the P535, so don't (yet) know a way to recover from a failed upgrade on the P535. But I will let you know if I find/read about a way to do it.
Maybe you could try contacting the author of the only "homebrew" ROM I know about - his webpage is here: http://norad.shacknet.nu/lifeforce/ and he has a feedback-form for bug reports. He is probably much more experienced with rom updates than I am, so it's worth a try.

I thought the hard reset combo was up+reset...
Maybe it only works if the OS is running - I don't know.
I had an idea:
I tried using the p525 rom tools (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=284379) to extract "RomGalaxy.NB0" from GalaxyII.cap, and I managed to extract it:
C:\P525RomTool11>P525RomTool.exe -d GalaxyII.cap

But - I have read that the p525 rom tools don't work on p535 roms (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=284379&page=7) - so I don't know if this NB0 file is useless/has the wrong checksum or whatever...
If you want you can try the rest of the procedure (I don't dare trying on my own phone):
- flash this NB0 file via the bootloader as it's described (in step 6) in the p525 thread I mentioned above:
Flash ROMGalaxy.NB0 via bootloader (copy it to SD card root, press "camera" fully, press reset).

Maybe there's another button combo you have to press on the P535 - Maybe the one you use on your P535 to get into the bootloader - I don't know, I'm just guessing.
Maybe the NB0 file needs to have another name - ROMGalaxyII.NB0? I don't know this either.
I guess this wasn't much help... Let's hope someone more experienced than me can come up with something better...
I downloaded that homebrew rom I mentioned: http://norad.shacknet.nu/lifeforce/ today.
It comes with the following install procedure:
Flashing:
1. Disable USB ActiveSync.
2. Push Off button + rec. button + nav. up + reset 5sec.
3. connect the PDA to PC
4. Start AsusUpdateROM.cmd

Which means it does not install from an SD card.
Try that one, see if it works.

I don't know if the russian rom has russian menu.
I've seen someone mention that it is mostly english with a few russian add-ons.
But I'm not sure - maybe asus russian website (if it exists) can tell you if the russian p535 has russian or english menus?

It is WWE with some russian add-on, but 99% of the ROM is in english. On the other hand, the device's extrom contains a language extender (in my case this is Hungarian), and it installs during the first booting process along with some network settings. I believe that the russian P535's has the same LENg (of course with russian language).

i'm going to buy Asus A696. the problem is that it is not yet on the market in our country so i'm thinking to buy it from another country - it means different language version of WM5.
my question is: with coming update of WM6 would i be able to flash the device with different language version than previously installed WM5? all i would need is WM6 in english, i don't even need my mother language..

What we can do is:
1. attach PDA to the PC with USB cable and wait for ActiveSync to sync
2. open a command prompt
3. run pdocread -t
4. run pdocread -l
5. run pdocread 0x0 0xXXX nk.nb0 where 0xXXX is the size of the rom returned in the step 3 (for our WM5 should be 0x2200000)
6. wait until the process finish
Now we got a copy of our original PDA firmware
To upgrade the PDA back to the origiginal or to another version we got, we have to:
1. attach the PDA to the PC with USB cable and CLOSE ActiveSync
2. press on the PDA the keys POWER+ENTER+RESET, the PDA bootloader will start in upgrade mode by USB and wait for the firmware from the USB
3. use usbloader to upload our nk.nb0 or any other firmware we got to the PDA
This is what I have read from that forum, but I've not tested jet cause I have only the copy of my firmware and waiting that someone make a copy of his english PDA to be able to upload the WM6 WWE update.

have the same original value

I am testing it now. The first part is all right no language problem, now there is a version problem. Update older than the pda.

this tools dont change the version number.
have you try to change the version number yourself ?

'd like to downgrade my 696 Hebrew 735 firmware to English 719.
I downloaded the 719 English ROM from Asus website and changed all hex codes
according to this thread to show the same codes as 735 Heb + changed the version check to 736 (2E0h) on 159C...
ran the Upgrade Tool WW.exe and..nothing. it just did a hard reset. What am I doing wrong.......?

i am very new in this handheld business and before i go ahead and crash the device i thought i could get some assistance , i already read some of the threads regarding from french to english and chinese to english.My thing is i just bought this yesterday in italy and once i get started with it . reallized that the whole thing is ,in italian its from a cell provider called TİM in italy.So can anyone guide my step by step what to do in order to make this device all english

You must download from ASUS 2 firmwares, ENG and CHN.
Extract in your SD the folder 2577 from ENG version
Overwrite autorun.exe in SD\2577 with the one in CHN version.
Put your SD in your p320 and play!!!
The difference is in autorun.exe, chinese version doesn't check language, so you can flash what you want!!!
Thanks i will try it as soon as possible , since i work on a cruiseship , the internet connection is very bad , so first i have to get the chinese firmware since i have the the ENG version , from the CHN version i just need the autorun.exe nothing else right and delete the autorun from the ENG version.

i tried to flash the english.bin using the chinese autorun.exe but it still doesn't work , i even tried to flash the whole chinese 2577 file first to see , if that would make a difference , in the end it still gives failed message (during soft reset) or it tells me to ensure its the same language .
So i am looking for other ways.

download the rom from HP support site, and re-flash it on a non-vista computer --- should work.

I've extracted flash.nbf file from setup then cut the first 3431 bytes then copied to sd card as flash.dio.

What keys i should hold for sdloader mode volup-ok-reset didn't work for me. Only when i press side wheel with ok then i was get is Dowloading Qualcomm Image at top of screen then nothing happen...

I upgraded my Ipaq 914c with original ROM from HP and i have same results. DEAD.
I do the same mistake...
problem is windows Vista. So, please charge you phone to min 40% and try to update with original ROM from HP site but on Windows XP.
Flash is passed and you phone has been alive....

I've bricked my 914C during an upgrade (for up. in italian sp43440.exe) i've forgotten my sd card inside and now the device became a brick!
When i turn on the 914 the writing "RUU...." appears and remains stuck on this screen. When I want to turn off the phone i must to remove the battery.
I tried to follow the following guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=511548 but i don't have XP, only Vista, which doesn't work with the information reported.
Please help me!
