I was wondering if anyone has a solution for my strange problem.
When switching on the unit from the power button there is a 20 second delay before the today screen shows up.
The backlight comes on initially and I get a black screen for about 20 seconds then the today screen loads.
If I swithc the unit off and on rapidly then there is no problem , but if I switch it off ( using the power button of course) and leave it for a few minutes I have to wait for the screen to boot.
Wierd eh?
Rom: 1.31.00WWE
Rom Date : 12/13/04
Radio: 1.06.00

Ext Rom : 1.31.139WWE
Help please if you can , thanks to all.
I'm guessing it's just the programs you have running on Startup and that's how long it takes to boot.
I'm running PhotoContacts (with 301 contacts/photos), GPS Gate, vCard, Voice Command, MultiIE, GPRS Notify, and some other bits and bobs and I'm lucky if I get into mine in under 45 seconds. I know it's just the software loading that takes a while because if I remove all the startup files it boots up in a matter of seconds.
Take a look in \Windows\Startup there might be things in there you don't need loading on startup, but MOVE them out of there to somewhere else rather than delete incase you have to put them back later!
Oh and "Today plugins" as will also slow you down since it'll have to load each one of those and each plugin will have to "update" itself on the screen as well before the device is fully usable.
Hi , thanks for the reply!,
The device has had a hard reset and is not running anything on startup , I actually did a corporate install so I don't even have the O2 active gubbins going on.
Yet mysteriously the boot up is ages slow!!!!!
Its got me highly baffled and frustrated.... argh
Hmm I'm not really sure what to suggest. I cooked my Extended ROM / Got rid of everything O2 as fast as I can so I can't remember what the times were like on mine for starting up with O2's firmware. Sorry!
Hey Xanth , thanks for trying to help!
Looks like I'm going to have to bite the bullet and do a reflash of the rom and etc. , hope that cures it or its going to be an interesting phone call to O2.
Unless anyone else has any suggestions it seems that the flashing is my only recourse.
Running new LVSW version of WM6. Working smooth as glass for 3 days now and this morning I turned on the phone, checked my email, adjusted call volume and the thing locked up HARD. I tried everything but nothing worked so I just pressed the reset button on the bottom. It rebooted but hung on the boot splash after displaying the red version numbers on the bottom. After a minute or so the green wireless light began to flash so I thought it was just slow booting, i left it like this for 15 min and it never proceeded to finish booting so I pressed reset again. Same result, stuck in boot splash forever. Since it was just going to sit and run down the power I unseated the battery to turn it off (the power button wouldnt do a thing.) Finally I get to work, I figure I'll put it in bootloader and hopefully just reflash it. As soon as I plug it into the USB cable and boot it up, it came up fine. Anyone have ANY idea what the heck is going on? Thinking now of trying the new WM Black edition v1.2 but with the recent strangeness of the current rom I'm wondering if I'll wind up bricking it. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Was your battery fully charged?
yep
Yes, 100%, had just taken it off charge about an hour before....
It has happened to me twice
The first time that I couldn't igure out what to do I simply Hard reset the device
The second and last time that happened to me (2 days ago)
after 3 consecutive soft reboots the thing came back to normal operating status..
I suspect that this has to do with ROM
Anyways I sure hope this is fixed with the new release...
Which I may flash later on today...
Need help...after 7 months of trouble free use my Orbit has suddenly died. It basically started last week where the phone would for no reason at all soft reset itself. After it booted up the clock would go back to its original setting back in 2006 & had to be adjusted again. The soft reset would happen without any pattern e.g. when I push the talk button when call comes through, when I try to open a program or even just pressing a button to wake it up from standby.
Anyway yesterday it did the same thing but this time it boots up to the O2 splash screen i.e. the blue screen with the picture of the glass building, & then just remains there with the backlight still on. I've resorted to a hard reset but again it will only boot up to the blue screen.
Any ideas?

I'm having a similar problem and I have posted my symptoms here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=344335) , though I never overclock my orbit before. ANyone have any solutions? Thanks in advance
hello to all,
I've searched many white screen problem threads, but didn't find any similar.
i am sorry if I missed one.
I am asking you for help.
I have spv m3100(hermes 100)
I bought it used and it had instaled htc europe wm6 rom. after few days I decided to flash black x rc.
before i did this, I made super cid with RUU_HERM_Unlock_v3a.exe and than also flash hard spl v7. everything was fine until few days ago when butons stop working. and at the end the green led was blinking all the time and green and red phone light was on all the time as well (also if phone was in flight mode).
I decided to flash official rom and I checked my bootloader it was showing ipl 1.04 and hard spl 2.10.
I flashed WWE 3.54.255.3 with radio 1.48.00.10 and everything went just fine at the end was written congratulation....
it costumized and make one or two soft reset and than I start to instal my favorite programs (few spb, smartmovie, dictionary...).
I do not remember why but after I set regional settings I did not soft reset with stylus but I put out battery when phone was stil on.
after that screen is white all the time. I made many soft resets, hard resets, try to enter bootloader but screen is all the time white.
when i turn it on and it is white I connect it to computer and it connects normal and i can also explore my files, but screen is all the time white.
I left it more than 20min without battery and try again but is stil the same.
after that I keep battery out of phone and leave it sop over the night. in the morning was stil the same.
i do not know what to do.
please help.
thank you and best regards
miha
since you mention a problem with the buttons, it *could* be hardware related. There is a thread up here where those problems (connections usually) are explained.
would you be so kind and tell me which thread you meant.
it seemed nothing wrong is with my phone only colors are missing (everything is white). i think also touchscreen is working. if I turn it off with power button (holding for few seconds), it beeps and you get message if you realy want to turn it off. because I know exactly where yes button is, the phone goes off.
I apreciate every help I can get.
thanks
I had a white screen issue .. do this in this specific order
1) make sure you have olipro latest version (use the search)
if problem persists
2) Use an WM5 rom and see if the white screen is happening
if problem perisists
3) Replace the battery (cheapest option)
if problem perisists
4) Its a hardware fault and you will have to send it off to get fixed or replace the unit .. sorry
alive again
I solved the problem.
thanks to this thread

There's the history:
I was talking to a friend, and my Excalibur ran out of battery, then, I tried to turn it on again, it started but got stuck on the Windows Mobile screen, then the screen turn out black and the red light (low battery) keep on blinking. It didn't respond at all, so I pulled out the battery, when I inserted it again, my Excalibur didn't turned on, and has been like this since that day...
Any ideas??? I need help please!!!

Has probado hacer un hard reset?
Algunas veces ayuda, antes de hacerlo carga tu bateria
Aqui como
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Excalibur
Have you tried doing a hard reset?
Sometimes it helps, charge your battery first
Here how
Hard Reset Procedures
Press Start -> Accessories -> Clear Storage, press enter to launch, you will be prompted to type "1234" and to press Enter. If you do this you will lose all contents and the Dash will be restored to its original configuration. It takes about 5 minutes for it do this and reboot.
If you are locked up and can't get to the Clear Storage utility, turn the phone off; hold down the two softkey menu select buttons (above the home and <- buttons); press power on while still holding the buttons down and follow the prompts on the screen. Timing is critical on the latter option, so if you miss it once, try again.

You prob need to replace your battery. These batteries usually only last 12 to 18 months however i made mine last 28 months before i replaced mine last week. My phones behaviour was the same as yours until after i replaced the battery,
i need to buy 4 batteries in 24 months for my dash

Ebay batteries?
Still dead...
My phone doesn't turn on, so I can't do the Hard or Soft reset thing, anyway I've tried to do the Hard Reset, but the phone doesn't answer.
I tried with other battery, and the results were the same, I don't know what to do...
did you try to get into bootloader mode?
you basically press and hold your camera button and while holding the button, plug your device into your PC via USB cable which if not entirely dead, should give you the 3 color screen. If you do get this, you must then install your stock rom that came with the phone. Then once thats done if you want to install another custom ROM, you can.
And if it doesn't work???
I'm gonna give it a try, but if it doesn't work, I think is a serious problem, isn't???
Maybe it's alive...
I tried the bootloader process, but what i get is a flash of the red led (low battery) when I connect the phone to USB, with no battery. If I do that with the battery on it nothing happens. Any ideas???
either you have a case of bad batteries, or theres a hardware issue with the connectors on your battery housing
Red Light Flashing
So, does the red light flash mean something??? It flashes when I connect my Excalibur to my PC without battery, if I don't remove the battery, nothing happens...
Thanks...
