I am in US. Bought O2XDAIIS out of Hong Kong in Dec '05. I have a recurring problem where the isp password automatically changes itself on my phone. I am using cingular wireless in the USA. Here is what happens, the settings according to cingular are to be:
isp.cingular is the APN
[email protected]
CINGULAR1 is the password
The password automatically resets to a 16 digit password (password protected so I do not know what it is)
Even after I manually reenter the correct cingular password and immediately recheck the settings, it still will show the 16 digit password versus the 9 digit password that I just entered.
Is there a procedure to get into my phone and remove this 16 digit password. I am assuming it is some sort of settings preset.
Thanks for the help in advance
After upgrade the New June 05 ROM, I got same problem.
Re: GPRS Password automatically changes on O2XDAIIs, Asian R
Hate to be a "me too" kinda guy.......but "me too"! If I do a soft reset,it works again for a while.
I am using a PDA2K, and am wondering if it might be in my CE4arab customization cab in the ext rom!I don't know what else is in there,so I am afraid to just remove it.
I am going to try calling level 2 support at Cingular. I will post back later.
Later.......

Hey there,
I use 1and1 for my exchange access and they require you to use some sort of security enforcement policy on your phone. On windows 5 I was able to put in a 4 digit pin and set it to only ask me for it after 24 hours of non-use. It also asked me for it on reboot. I keep my keypad locked because there's nothing I hate more than having my phone dial random people. To do this of course, I just held down the end key untill the screen locked. To unlock it, I just pressed the center button on the d-pad and the asterisk key. Everything was peachy.
Well in windows 6, they still require me to enter a PIN in and everything, BUT I cannot change the time in which it requires me to enter my pin to unlock. Additionally, every time I screen lock my phone I have to enter my PIN which is incredibly annoying.
Is there some sort of reg hack that I can fix this with?
No, the point of security enforcement is to protect the device from having sensitive data stolen and as a result these kinds of policies can not be overridden through any fashion except settings on the exchange server. You need to contact 1and1 and ask them to remove this policy, or switch to another exchange provider.
4SmartPhone doesn't pull this stuff.
Thanks for the response, but I don't think I made myself clear enough.
I don't want to bypass the security, I don't care about that.
I just don't want to have to enter my password every time I want to use my phone. Who does that?
Start>Settings>security>device lock
from there you should be able to adjust the phone's lock settings.
whether you want to get round it or not, it is most likely the policy set at 1 & 1's end and they need to adjust it at their end....
it might be that this function on the exchange works differently on the server cos it is windows mobile 6.
As WM6 is optimised for Exchange 2007, it could be a bug in the MS Activesync set up when using these policies on an exchange 2003 SP2 server.
I don't have a WM6 excalibur, but i can test it with an S710 and our Exchange 2007 server if you want....?
One more thought, delete the exchange partnership, and then go into the lock settings. Turn the lock on and set it to 24 hours.
Then go back in and turn it off. the time settings should stay at 24 hours even though it is turned off.
Then set up the exchange server. if you are lucky, it might just stay at 24 hours instead of the OS default of 0 minutes.
Be lucky....
try this:
Enable changing password lock time:
In the registry do the following:
\hklm\security\policies\policies\00001023 from 0 to 1.
i have the same problem with 1and1 using a cavalier with wm6. my real problem is that sometimes at startup the device gets stuck in t9 and will not recognize the numbers in my pin so i have to hard reset the device. 1an1 say they have nothing to do with the security password and will not help
Disable T9
Heh-heh, I never liked the T9 thingie on my T-Mobile Dash/HTC Excalibur. To turn the T9 on and off (toggle) press alt and then press space. This should toggle the T9 function of WM6 smartphones. At least, it did on my Dash.
Now, on with my crusade to unlock my Dash!!...
turning the t9 off is the same on the cavalier, but the problem is that sometimes this test rom decides to turn it back on at start up and other times it does not. it is really pissing me off.
thanks for the suggestion though. i just really need a way to dissable this security password.

on my wm5 ppc i removed the exchange account yet I can't turn off the pin security. Now thats annoying.

cool that worked thanks!
Before you can change the registry keys, you need to run the "Application and CID" unlock program provided on this site. I did it on my Cavalier and it worked like a charm.
Any ideas anyone?
Hey mtvkilledusall -
Did you ever get this figured out? It is annoying the ****e out of me!!!
I'm the Exchange admin, and I'm considering turning off this "feature" for my device.
Like you, I just want to be able to KEYLOCK the device (so it doesn't dial 911 in my pocket, etc.), but I'd still like to keep the security.
This used to work fine on my MDA. Very annoying.

Same issue here after upgrading from Samsung Blackjack 1 to a Blackjack II, WM6 and 1and1 Exchange server. On top of that, after configuring exchange, my phone also looses the menus quick access numbers. Very frustrating.... Anyone found a fix yet?
Thierry.
After flashing with several wm6 roms, the time on my Hermes gets set to an incorrect value when I connect to activesync. I never had this problem with the stock wm5 OS. Anyone have any ideas what is causing this?
just chose the correct GMT area from time icon
Either the time on your PC is wrong (but I guess you would've noticed this!) or the time zones don't match. Try double clicking on your PC's time and compare it to the time zone tab on your phone (under Settings, Clock and Alarms).
Other than that, sorry - no idea!

I checked the time on my PC is not wrong. The time zone on my phone is correct as well. I never had this problem with the stock wm5 that came with the phone. I'm wondering if it has something to do with using a non Cingular rom??
I got the same problem but I realized that it was not an activesync behaviour. I got active the automatic Hour and TimeZone change in the Phone settings and Spanish Orange got an incorrect zone set, so, every time I start my phone, my timezone changes...
Try to uncheck this parameter in the Phone settings, TimeZone tab.

It's supposed to be a tab under "Phone" in personal settings tab, but showing it or not depends on a registry value. You may download the HTCustom tweaker from here:
http://shadowmite.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=2231&p=7890#p7890
Install it and set on the showing of the TimeZone tab in order to check if it's active or not.

Thanks for the info. automatic change time zone and clock was allready disabled so I guess thats not the problem. However I did find that enabling automatic change time zone and clock and then doing a soft reset changed my clock back to the right time.
You may got another option. In your PC (not in your pocket PC) look for this registry Key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\Partners\xxxxxxxxx\Services\Synchronization
And change the value:
Sync Time on Dock
from 1 to 0. It will disable the activesync change of the Pocket PC time...
xxxxxxxxx is the ID of your partnership with the Pocket PC
Remember to restart activesync after the change.
Here you got more info: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms834164.aspx
Problem resolved
Thanks for all your help VivaErBetis. The registry change you suggested fixed everything.
Hi, I have finally setup my TP2 to get email from an exchange server. As part of the config though it has forced the "lock" function in all settings to be on. It is set for a max duration of 15 mins inactivity and needs a simple pin. Does anyone know how to either extend the "Prompt if device unused for" time to a really large value or how to disable it. I have looked at the registry and tried advanced config and can't find anything to change this.
I like having my email, I don't like being forced to use a device lock!
Ta
I didn't get the lock selected when I set up my Exchange mail. Have you tried:
Select Settings
All settings
Personal Tab
Lock
Is there a tick in the box at "Prompt if device unused for"
take the tick out of the box

Give a man a fish he will feed himself for a day. Give him an internet connection and a few hours then he will solve his own problem.
Hopefully it helps someone else.

I beleive if you set exchange via activesync this occurs, yet if you set up via the device with manual settings it doesnt force the locking.
I normally setup my exchange via the device........... I hate activesync
I've installed the 3VOLUTION SERIES 3VO.1.40.070109 and I noticed that although I can configure the MMS settings in GPRS, I can't configure the additional options required in the MMS settings (per T-Mobile's instructions) as these options do not exist.
I also tried the ArcSoft software, although it installs it seems to be only designed for PPC's or Windows Mobile Professional as the menus bleed beneath the S621's screen size. Although I was able to configure it, I couldn't confirm my settings and exit the screen.
I also tried the later ROM, but I experienced too many issues with my Internet connections that I didn't experience with the earlier ROM.
Are there any options for establishing the required MMS settings with this ROM or is there a WM6 Standard version of ArcSoft that I could use to enable MMS settings to work?
Thank you,
Tim
what countries tmobile mms setting do you need? perhaps then we can help find you a solution. you should be using the 3VO.2.00.071809 release since it is the most recent and is nearly flawless. although ookba had made and additional settings cab for earlier version for mms setting. i'll send you the cab in a pm if you don't want to reflash to the newest version
I have T-Mobile USA, came over with my HTC-S621 from Suncom. The settings are configured in the 'settings, connection, gprs area'. But in the actual MMS area which is now threaded with SMS, there is no longer an option to input the required settings. The option just no longer exists... must be a 6.5 feature or something.
Thank you,
Tim
attached cab here since i couldn't send it to you.
Thank you! I'll try it out and let you know.

if it doesn't work you should reflash to the latest version and set you connection setting the tmobile usa. it should fix everything from that point. i got my phone in israel and the settings work fine with tmobile usa. additionally if you don't want to flash again reset you connection with the connection setup found in the start menu and restart your phone.
I installed the update, but the '3VO Settings Update.cab' file doesn't seem to address the missing MMS settings field.
Here are the T-Mobile instructions.
T-Mobile MMS Settings:
Setting up the data account <---- This portion is available for setup.
1. Tap Start.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap on the Connections tab.
4. Tap the Connections icon.
5. Tap Add a new modem connection under T-Mobile GPRS.
6. Enter PictureMessaging in the Enter a name for the connection field.
7. Tap to select Cellular Line (GPRS) from the Select a modem drop down list.
8. Tap Next.
9. Enter wap.voicestream.com in the Access point name field.
10. Tap Next.
11. Tap Finish.
Setting up the MMS profile <--- this part isn't available in the new ROM.
1. Tap Start again.
2. Tap Messaging.
3. Tap Menu.
4. Tap MMS Configuration.
5. Tap the Servers tab.
6. Tap New.
7. Enter PictureMessaging in the Server Name field.
8. Enter 216.155.165.050 in the Gateway field.
9. Enter 8080 in the Port number field.
10. Enter http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms in the Server address field.
11. Tap to select T-Mobile GPRS from the Connect via drop down list.
12. Tap to select WAP 2.0 from the WAP Version dropdown.
13. Tap OK.
14. Scroll to PictureMessaging and tap Set As Default.
15. Tap OK.
The new MMS profile is now configured and ready for use.
Any other ideas?
Thank you,
Tim
These are not present in the NRG27 Energy 6.5 ROM either. This is the first I heard of these setting too. Although that does not mean much since I have never used picture messages.
I just go to start/accessories and run the connection setup, set my phone to USA and T-mobile and it works as it should...my MMS messages go through just fine
Maybe posting this in the correct thread would be a good idea??
There is a "MMS Settings" selection in Settings.

I posted it here because once a thread gets as large as yours a post can get lost in the 'noise'.
I did look for a MMS Settings page under settings, but I can't find one. I also tried the Internet Connections Wizard but that didn't work for me. In fact, using that messed up my other connections.
I used my SbBackup to restore it back so that my Internet would work again. However, I really don't think it's necessarily your ROM, I think that perhaps my SUNCOM Sim Chip doesn't want to cooperate with T-Mobile or something.
But I was hoping to find the menu page to configure the settings in MMS to try again, but it seems in WM6.5, Microsoft didn't think they were needed.
I would just run into a T-Mobile store and see if they could help me, but I don't think they would want to help me since I'm not on a ROM that they'd customarily support.
With exception to the MMS, everything else is working great!
Thank you,
Tim

the reason why people think that a post will get lost inside of any thread is 'cause people don't search, or search inside a thread. If a thread has 100 pages and anyone has a question, but doesn't want to sit thru 100 pages, they should use the search this thread feature a the top, that's available when you're reading a thread, you do a search like any other time except this feature will only search inside the opened thread.
By making multiple threads with different questions about the same rom, app, system, bug, whatever, all it does when someone actually does a search, it gives them that many more results , that are gonna have to be read in order to find the answer.
That's the main reason for all of us to encourage everyone to please post questions on the proper thread, instead of making a new one.
I'm hoping someone can help me with this.
Using EnergyRom 28008 on a Touch Pro 2 I can't download email off of Comcast. I've had it working on a previous version of the ROM but I don't know why (if it was something I did, if it was the Rom, or some other variable).
Two things get my attention, but they may be nothing. First, is that after I've entered my email password, and save the settings, when I return to settings there are about twice as many stars in the password field as there are letters in my actual password. This occurs if I use manual setup or not. I'm thinking there's a chance it just fills the field with the same number of stars no matter what the real length of the password as a security measure. Or, it's saving my password incorrectly.
The other thing which gets my attention is that in the username field it saves it as "[email protected]" instead of just leaving it as "username". Saving and coming back, it's always adding on the "@comcast.net" part. I'm pretty sure this has to be a problem as Comcast wants the "@comcast.net" part left off.
Does anyone know of a solution? Is this just one of those wait and see things? They'll fix it eventually? Or is it a problem specifically with NRG's ROM? Is there a known solution, perhaps a registry setting I could change to work around the auto-botch effect? Any help would be very appreciated.
