I've unlocked my XDA as per the instructions on this site. It is now no longer attached to the O2 network, or any other network for that matter. So I cannot make phone calls with it at the moment. Now what? What can I do to get it online again? How?
It works fine as before as a PDA. Everything is usuable as a PDA - all the games and programs etc. But it is now diconnected as a phone - no number no calls no internet etc. This is because it has been unlocked. So what now please? How does one now get it online again so I can browse the internet or use it again as a phone?
Many thanks.
Are you getting any errors? Are you getting a signal? What happenes when you dial, what can you hear on earphone when you dial? Which method of unlocking did you use?
Did it ever work as a phone previous to unlocking from O2 network?
It you have never used it as a working phone, did you buy it secondhand?
You could try entering bootloader by holding power while pushing reset with stylus, then push the button below antenna, choose 900/1800 from the gsm menu.

Following Buzz's installation instuctions I am stuck with these two items.
9. Activate Radio even without Sim in it saying something about no Sim)
15. Flash your original Radio ROM. Do not upgrade the bootloader until you restored an original radio rom.
I think I am just about there with number 15 (with the resource on this site) but can not find anything on #9.
I know a lot of people say that it is already unlocked, but it seems unlocked to a few networks.

hi, XDA Execs should be unlocked
Does it ask you to enter the unlock code if u enter another sim?
If it doesn't then it's unlocked as far as i know.
What makes you believe that it's locked to a few netwroks, maybe it's because you're trying to find a non-existent umts signal...
Turning the radio on means turning flight mode off (and for the purposes of unlocking you do that without a sim)
Hope that helps.
I take it the UMTS is another name for 3G. My BT account is a normal non 3G account. Is it a case that I need to alter some of the settings, the networks it lists are...
@VF-UK
@ O2-UK
@ Orange
Is ther anything I should try....
umm, what happens if you insert a non-o2 sim into your phone?
If it's continually searching for a signal, it might be trying to search for a dodgy 3G/UMTS signal
in which case try going to phone settings, then in the band tab , select GSM instead of auto or wcdma
In the worse case scenario, if/when you flashed the radio 0.00.00, you might have had some problem with your USB (See the unlocking thread)
Thanks for all your help.
I think I have now got to the bottom of this. The fact is that BT use the VF network. The phone logs onto this, so I guess this is normal. However the signal strength never gets above 2 bars, is this normal?

Not anymore, dude. BT sold BT Cellnet (now O2 plc) a little while ago, but now they have started their own mobile service again (called BT Mobile) BUT piggybacking Vodafone's network.
I apologize if I'm posting in the wrong place; but I've gone just about everywhere else looking for help...
I'm in the USA; and I've got an O2 Cocoon - I'm trying to find out if it's got a simlock on it, or if it's just messed up.
The major problem is that it absolutely refuses to make or accept calls, texts, mms... anything.
The phone is set up for my network (Unicel) with what I'm reasonably sure are the correct settings. It gets bars of signal, and when I search for available networks, it finds a 2G Vstream. When I have new voicemail; the new message icon even displays on the Cocoon, and after switching the sim to a phone that does work & checking the voicemail, the new message icon on the Cocoon goes away.
It constantly displays "SOS Call Only" underneath the signal bars; even though it's usually getting 3-5 bars of signal, and whenever I try to connect to the 2G Vstream that it sees in Network Connections, or make a call / send a text; it says "Network Failure".
Does anyone think the phone might actually be simlocked, even though it's not asking for a subsidy code or anything? If so; how do I access the area of the phones software where I can input an unlock code once I buy one?
I'd really like to get this phone working; however I don't want to spend the $40 on an unlock code for the thing if I'm not even sure that it's going to solve my problem.
I work for o2 mate, its locked to network you should be able to unlock though

Sweet! That's exactly the type of answer I've been looking for. I've been shooting emails back & forth with O2 support; the one I most recently sent them I straight out asked for the code & explained my situation - if they don't give it to me in their reply, I'll just buy one now.
Chris, Do you know the sequence / code whatever that I have to enter in order to get to where the phone asks for the code?
My only experience with unlocking is a couple of Motorola Razrs; and those won't let you do anything at all with a different sim if they're locked - they just prompt you on startup.
Hopefully deblocage-htc.com 's turnaround time to send the code to me is fast; I can't wait to start using this phone... it's so, awesome.
OK; so after sending deblocage-htc.com about 3 emails asking them how to enter the subsidy code on this phone; they finally responded with one that wasn't an advertisement -
"Dear Sir,
Your phone must ask to enter the Unlocking Code just after entering the PIN Code of your SIM Card"
The phone isn't asking me to enter the subsidy code after I enter my Sim Pin. Lot of good buying an unlock code is going to do me if no one seems to know how to enter the code into the phone
EDIT: Wait, does that mean I just enter the unlock code directly from the home screen of the phone, then?
want to help mate but the info I have is that if you enter a non o2 sim will ask for the code
02 cocoon start up only
hi mates i have 02 cocoon here. the problem is when i turn it on only star up continuesly not booting.
how can i program this or hard reset?
pls help me.tia.............
The phone is definitely not locked. It works just fine with an AT&T simcard borrowed from a friend, but does not work with a Unicel sim. It doesn't prompt me to enter a subsidy/unlock code when I turn it on.
I thought it might not be compatible with GSM 850, because we only get 850 where I live - but when I'm roaming in NY or PA or anywhere in between, and there's loads of 1900 signal as well, it still doesn't work with my Unicel simcard. The phone sees bars of signal, and it knows when I have a missed call or a new text message; but it won't let me call out or receive calls or text messages or do anything useful like that.
I searched around and the web is flooded with the verizon and sprint phone not being able to connect to data. I have a customer who has an unbranded GSM nexus and it wont connect to mobile data. I swaped sim cards with my phone and my phone connected to data with his sim but his phone would not connect to data with my sim. I checked tha APNs and both phones are exactly the same. Both phones are samsung. Mine is an unloccked infuse. We are both useing O2 in germany. What do you guys think.
Set up a new APN with the same settings.
I found on the bottom right had corner a menu button. I am not to familiar with 4.0 yet. i found the reset to default button in there. I het that and let it sit for a few minutes while it did its thing. All is good now. Thank you for the suggestion though.
funny thing is, is that all the settings are exactly the same as before. No idea why it happend but its working now.
Hi everyone!
Just received LG Nitro HD which was bought on ebay.com (USA). As I live in Europe I can't use AT&T so I had to buy the unlock code and I did so. When I received the codes (NCK, NSCK, SPCK, CPCK, SIMCK) the Life's SIM was already in and I was doing some setup (can't remember exactly what, but not in wireless networks). So I decided do not reboot the phone and use 2945#*930#.
When I entered the code I get in the unlock menu. I pressed Network lock and the new menu popupd. I've entered the NCK and phone says that the Unlock was successful. Than I tried to press other menu items such as SIM unlock, Corporate unlock,... but without any effect.
After that I decided to continue my "exercises" and went to main screen and I didn't saw the network connection.
Than I've tried manual search, automatic search, other SIMs (from other carriers) - the only network which the phone can connect is life but connection loses in a few seconds. BT and WiFi works perfect.
I've tried to flash 10i.kdz, 10c.kdz, 10f.kdz, 18f.exe, 20c.kdz - only 10s and 18f.exe can start, others stuck on bootscreen.
Please help me how to connect the phone to other networks and make signal straight!!!
have you entered your apn settings for your carrier?

No, but they are received automatically somehow (maybe they are flashed at SIM?) for all networks I've tried. And they are correct - I've checked it on operator's sites.
Insert any sim and do a manual search. How many networks you see?
Also verify wether it is on 3G only or anything other than automatic cause in some devices it sticks even after full flashing. If that fails, best case scenario, antenna problem.

With any SIM or without any SIM, with manual or automatic search, with "2G only" set or not set it could see only the network named "life"
So I decided (the day before yesterday) to disassemble it and see what is happened inside. And I saw that some wire was not plugged but only putted on the board. I plugged it and powered on the phone - and IT HAPPENED!!! All the networks where found!!! So I've assembled it back and the problem was resolved. Sorry, I was so happy and didn't wrote about it.
The problem is decided, case is closed. Thanks for everyone for help.
rofl, yeah plugging your antenae in is kind of important
Hi there,
I recently sent my phone back to HTC because my volume button was stuck, which resulted in it not being able to boot (as it always went straight to recovery). They repaired it, and after three weeks without my phone I know received it back. They 'replaced parts and did a software update.'
Problem is, now I have no mobile network connection. The phone recognises the SIM fine, but no signal and search networks results in "Error while searching for networks."
I'm blaming the software update HTC did, so I send them another email. The thing is, I don't want to send it back AGAIN, I had the phone a full 2 weeks before it broke and haven't been able to use it since. Is there anything you guys can think of that doesn't involve rooting it and losing my warranty (which I will probably need now)?
Thanks a bunch
Hello,
have you tried to switch between the network mode; only WCDMA or only GSM? (Settings->Mobile Network->Network Mode)

Thanks for the reply. Yes I have, no effect. One other weird thing I have noticed since first posting: at the about -> Phone Identity screen, the phone number does not match my actual sim phone number. It reads the SIM fine though, as all my SIM contacts are available.
Could you use/try another SIM Card to check its work with a different one?
Is WiFi working? Any interruptions druing a regular call?

Regular call is impossible, as I have no cellular network at all. Wifi works fine. I am currently unable to try another SIM, as I'd have to cut a microsim out of a regular one and people around don't want to have their card cut up.
The sim works fine in my old nokia though, so I don't think that's the issue.
I'll try to find a friend with an iPhone 4 to try their microsim, but I'm not really counting on it.
