I forgot to mention this updates your ROM, so make sure you save anything on your Universal before applying the above file.
I don't know any details of the update, so if anybody knows, please post for the rest of the Universal owners.

Do what the error message tells you to;
A. Reset your mobile again in bootloader mode (press 1. softreset button WHILE pressing 2. powerbutton & 3. camera button
B. Exit updater program and re-run it
Should work ...
I can't enter into Bootloader!
It works with this tweak!
When you run the updater it says that will upgrade the radio version from 1_03_00 to 1_03_00 not 1_03_01 !
For those how have done the upgrade, can you confirm when reseting the device that the radio rom is 1_03_01 and not 1_03_00 ?
confirmed. New vesion 1.03.01. UMTS works fine. Not hard reset needed after update.
confirm! 1.03.01!
Yup New radio
Didn't do a hard reset either. What, can I say was this supposed to Fix? the only I bug I jave, is Skype crashes every two minutes, which if I can't fix in the 14 days I have to return this phone, it's going back to Imate.
RE: Imate
Hi mikeycollins13,
Since yours is the imate version, are you registered for at the clubimate site? If so then when you login and access the support area for your Universal then hopefully there should be some details on what the update fixes. I can't access that area as I have XDA IIi, I can only access the ftp site with the file and no readme available in there.

Under Investigation
• In some cases the built-in flash light is not intense enough for taking pictures in low light conditions. This is currently under investigation but quality can be noticeably improved if pictures requiring flash light are taken using Night Mode.
• Communications often stall when using IrDA for Wireless Modem connection. This will only happen if large amounts of data are received over a 3G connection (issue not occurring on GPRS due to lower connection speed).
• On the pre-installed version of Skype™, instant messages can be sent but not received. Also, when multiple applications are running in the background it is sometimes not possible to run Skype™. If this occurs, first close down some applications from the System Settings>Memory then run again.
• Playback of 320 x 240 resolution video clips in full screen mode are not stretched to fill the screen.
• Due to slow refreshing of the coverage indicator, the coverage information may not be 100% accurate in all scenarios.
• In the Arabic JASJAR:
• The “Back” and “Stop” options are not displayed on Pocket Internet Explorer. A workaround is to tap on the address bar, which will refresh those buttons to show the “Back” and “Stop” options.
• When Arabic contacts are saved to the SIM Card, the Arabic names become blank though the number is saved correctly.
Resolved Issues
• Corrected some problems with file beaming from file explorer.
• WLAN connection stability improved.
• Voice Recognition button operates correctly (single press for voice recognition, long press for voice recording) and can be configured from the Settings > Buttons menu.
I cant see on i-mate's website where is the radio update that you have post here.
Could someone give a link?
It's not officially listed on clubimate but it was put into their ftp area. Personally, I'm waiting until it's offically listed. Perhaps it wasn't listed on the web site because the one on the ftp site isn't the final version. It probably can't hurt to install the one there now. But patience is a virtue
Hello Plz forgive my newbie question..I just got my unlocked Sx66 from Ebay.It was formerly used on Cingular network in th US.with w2k3.I am able to make phone calls with my T Mobile sim card in the device. While I can't tell you exactly where to put the info (I flashed my BA to MW5 shortly after getting it, never really looked at the shipped O2 version), I can tell you that it will work.
With WM5, you need to set the GPRS access point to wap.voicestream.com and leave the rest of the settings alone. I believe the earlier versions of WM are even simpler.
Worse case, contact T-Mobile and tell them you have a wizard (T-Mobile MDA) and need the settings for the GPRS. I've got my account page set up that way and the info on it now applies to the BA.
Thanks jdc...I tried that with w2k3 with my sx66 and it did not work..bummer..I will try to upgrade to w2k5..if you dont mind, what rom (and ext. rom) did you use for your device to work on T mobile USA GPRS network? What didn't work exactly?
I did a quick google and came up with this page:
http://www.pdaphonehome.com/forums/...0/41141-pda2k-t-mobile-gprs-mms-settings.html
Try that and see if it works.
Regarding the ROM I'm using, right now I've got an older Hemli vanilla AKU3.5 (my data cable seems to have developed an issue, so I'm not able to flash to anything newer yet).
Granted, WM5 is better than the one you have now (IMO), but you may want to stay with the current ROM (some people do like the official 2k3 over the hacked 5 we have available now), so I'd get that working first then try another ROM.
Yea !! jdc..I went to that site..and followed directions to tee..it did not work at first..I tried over and over ,then got tired ,went to sleep woke up this morn.,and remembered to pull out battery, started up , and it worked !! Thanks so much..now maybe I will try to get the right w2k5 rom and try an update ..Thanks again Will

glad to hear that you got it working. That's odd that you had to power cycle the thing to get the settings to take effect, but hey, it's working.
updated 2k3 on sx66
i noticed in your thread you mentioned the 2k3 works better than the wm2k5. i also have the same device situation as "Zzzbignew". i have had the device for about 2 years an recently started to look into updating my ROM and radio and all that good stuff. i am not too keen on all this and am not sure what specific ROMs i should be looking for with this sx66 im am using with tmobile. any links or advice you have as to how i can upgrade to a newer version of 2k3 would be greatly appreciated. thanks for your time.

T-Mobile works great on the sx66 in the US. You'll probably want to get a high capacity battery like the 2400 whatever from Mugen power. You'll also want to flash a WM5 ROM. I prefer the Helmi-Baniaczek v2. Push email works great and you don't lose your data if the power goes. Be sure to read the wiki on the subject thoroughly and set a few hours aside before you begin.
I'll attempt to attach a T-Mobile Network customization cab to this email. It should set up your internet and MMS settings for TMO USA. If it doesn't work, key the setting in as indicated in this thread
Thanks Rambo6, but now my kid popped the screen and it endlessy cycles through the alignment screen. I tried every trick including writing a welcome.not notepad file to my sd , and also went in to windows startup and tried to delete the welcome.exe shortcut but it still finds its way back after a reboot ( Where is the actual " Welcome.exe " located ?) So that is my delema...I am writing this on my wizard...I think I may have to get a new digitizer on Ebay to install over lcd screen...Thanks for your help.

Hello All,
I believe there are many like me who would love to get the Blackberry Connect Software working on their HDs. At the moment, it seems like black magic how to get it working and the other thread doesn't really contain much useful information on working configurations.
So far, we know the following:
1. It is Radio, ROM and SIM card dependent.
2. You need to have the BB service provisioned on your SIM and have the new style SIMs that support full data functions.
3. Latest version of BB Connect required for TouchHD (4.0.0.106). This is available from HTC Asia on on the internet (just search these boards)
What i'd like to use this thread for is for people to post WORKING configurations with as many details as possible regarding the setup/installation procedure. I'll start with the only configuration I've managed to get working so far.
ROM: Dutty's 1.9b extreme
Radio: 1.12.25.16
SIM: Blackberry service from MTN
Installation/Procedure:
- Flash ROM
- Install BB Connect software
- Provision SIM card
- Connection was activated after a few hours.
Other information:
- The BB connect service defaults to IE as the browser.
- BB Push email service worked but with lag. SEVEN was much better in this regard.
- I was unable to get messenger, stock tabs, weather update, google maps, etc to use the BB connection
- BB push email service creates its own mail folders on your device regardless of what you already have.
- BB email folders do not have full flip to scroll to next message functionality in TF3D.
- BB email did not display pictures, etc
Please lets have other users chime in here and perhaps we can get a Wiki section created for BB Connect on the HD. Lets please keep to the same format as above to keep the information easily referenced and trackable.
Thanks
Thanks for the info, I have been able to run the service with all ROM's expect for the ones built on 6.5 OS's..
Connection was instant in each installation (right after a reset I am connected - then I'd push my service book -- done)
I do not have any lags in mail arrival.
Its satisfactory for me- but as you said you have to stop the BB service prior to any attempt to use the data connection for other purposes (IE, weather...etc)
Only thing I miss is the blackberry messenger.
Thanks for the thread.
Taiseer
Thanks for responding Taiseer.
Could you tell me what mobile operator and country you're using? Secondly, what do you mean by push your service books? Is than an automatic process or manually performed by you? In the installation that worked for me, I didn't do anything of the sort.
After installing did you have your BB sim in the phone or did you insert it later?

I am currently residing in Oman and its Omantel...
and normally what I do after the 1st installation and device reset, all of my mail arrives to a new mail account named system..(and I won't be able to send or reply to mail from it), so to be able to get the rest of my accounts and have a better use out of the service, I log on to the Operator's blackberry's site and manually demand a service book sending.. in few seconds mail arrive into auto formed mail accounts..
As far as the SIM card its always in the HD..
It looks like SEVEN may be better for me then, how does battery compare between the two.
Thanks for the information Taiseer. My provider does not offer the internet log on option so I guess I will need to get them to push the service books to me somehow. When I install the software with the sim in it, i get nothing after a soft reset. No pin and no ip address. Did you find that MS Live or any other microsoft service was able to use the BB connection or is it just the browser?

Seven has a good service and I've had no complaints. The BB data plan is the cheapest where I live though. So if you can get unlimited (or cheap) data packages, stick with SEVEN. I didn't notice any differences with battery life.

No - you got to stop data connection, but because I am used to my WIFI conection and hotspots everywhere I normally do not discounnect the BB connection, DO you??
Whilst my service worked I was too scared to disconnect the BB connection so I just didn't use any of the other services. It sucked. I've just flashed Davideuck's newest V 2 ROM so we'll see if i can get it working.
Okay, great news people. I've got my service working on Davideuck's Version 2 rom. It required a call to my network provider. For all those installing on a HD, its down to your provider regardless of what they say.
Taiseer, thanks for the heads up about the blackberry page for my subscriber. I managed to track mine down and set up my email accounts from there.
Woohah!
I am using a stock ROM 1.14.405.3(22273) WWE, Radio 1.09.25.15
I hate to have to use a cooked ROM, I've used Dutty's ROM's on my Kaiser and they worked well but this phone works so well I don't want to mess things up.
I believe the stock ROM should work as well. Be sure to hassle your service provider to set it up on their end. I think some providers are not pleased to offer the BB service for non BB phones and do not fully enable the service (they can tell that its not a BB phone from the PIN number). After a talk with my provider, I was told to reset my phone and presto! all was working.
It works on on my Kaiser so I know it works on my T-Mobile plan. I may mess with the radio's to see what I can do.
Sorry to keep adding to this thread but I have some new developments. I upgraded the ROM to 1.19.831.0 and Radio 1.09.25.14
I have version 106 and ran the desktop software, it switched the PIN from the Kaiser to the HD. I changed the version reset the device and now I have the service books and an IP address.
When I look at the status I get network available>data tunnel available then not connected.
Update, since it wasn't working I tried to reinstall BB Connect on the HD, when I tried to configure I got the PIN 0 error. As a last resort I put the SIM in the Kaiser and configured it, then switch to the HD, configured it and it worked!
I'm not sure but it looks like changing the PIN was all I needed to do.
blackberry working great on orange uk htc touch HD standard phone
I downloaded the blacberry install files form a link on this forum, I belive it was the same blackbery files from HTC.
Rom Version 1.19.61.1 wwe
Radio 1.09.25.14
Installed the BB app to phone - then went to start settings > system >" click" icon blackberry.
Blackerry connect (identity) tab shows 3 bits of info
PIN said something like waiting for PIN
IMEI 78*******************
IP Address No connection
Spoke to orange asked for blackberry service. they said 5 permonth £ 250MB of blackberry
Orange sent me text message with a pin number and told me of the orange blackberry site to go to I think it is blackberry.orange.co.uk
On the blackberry.orange.co.uk I enterd the PIN number from the text message and IMEI number.
My phone recived a text a turned it of and turned it back on.
Checked the Blackerry connect (identity) tab
PIN was now populated with the pin that was in the text message
IMIE still there
IP Address says connected.
Went back to the blackberry.co.uk setup my email accounts with blackberry the pressed service book. looked at my phone 20 mins later and my there email accounts were there 2 for work and 1 for home.
I dont do much surfing on the phone but opera works and and the blackberry is fantastic.
orange were very helpfull on this.
But saying that blackberry is really a network service Windows Live I belive does a similar thing you get push email.
I'm glad to see people are getting it sorted. There are certainly many other options for connectivity and push email. Some even work better than the BB service. The reason i'm on the BB service is that its the cheapest way to browse regularly and get push email in my part of the world. When a page can cost as much as 30 pence via gprs versus 20 pounds a month for unlimited data on the BB plan, its a no brainer. Yes, I'm painfully aware we're being gouged but theres no getting away from that.
I have a problem with blackberry connect...
Everything installed just fine, receiving message OK, BUT...I can't send mail because option new mail, reply on mail also, is disabled
Very strange, because I used earlier bb connect on diamond and everything worked...
Any solutions?

Its probably because you are only having the "system mail account" you should try to send your service books to your winmo via provider
Thank you very much - I'm tottaly forgot the way how to do that, working now!
Problems with BB connect on HTC HD
Hi guys,
after setting up successfully BBconnect on my HD, I noticed that when I send emails from my BES account on my laptop, I always find them in my Inbox (not in Sent Items as I would expect) of my HD reporting me as Sender and no body message in it. Instead, should I send emails from my handled device, I always find them in Sent Items of my device as expected....Has anyone of you faced the same issue?
Thanks...
This is a tutorial to get the Skype service from Three working on a not
official supported Three mobile.
1) Download an install iSkoot for WinMo http://www.iskoot.com/pc_download/WindowsMobile/iSkootForSkype1.1.54_WMpro.CAB?code=
2) Install iSkoot and start it, but do NOT sign in now, just let it create
the registry entries we need! Exit the app when the login screen appears!
3) Head with your favorite Registry Editor to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ISKOOT\SKYPE\DEVICE
4) Update the following entries with your "Three Country specific address"* :
BackupHost
CallUrl
DefaultSkHost
Pushhost
If Pushhost don't exist DO NOT create it!
5) Exit your Registry Editor and start iSkoot !
You have to be on your Three Data Connection for iSkoot to work,
it will not work with WiFi, i think!
The first time you try to log in it can take up to 5 min, don't ask me why.

How to get your "Three Country specific address"
Look first at the bottom of the post maybe someone did already the work for you!
1) First you need a browser which is capable of faking a User Agent
We have to force "Planet 3" to believe that we are using a ThreeSkype
capable Device (which we use but they don't know )
I used the NetFront Browser, install it you should easily find it on the net.
2) Open NetFront and go to:
Menu -> Browser Setting -> Menu -> Network
there is a option to change the User-Agent
3) Make a new User-Agent:
We have to fake a Three distributed Phone which is capable of Skype.
I used Sony Ericsson W910i
Change the User-Agent to:
SonyEricssonW910i/R1CA Browser/NetFront/3.4 Profile/MIDP-2.1 Configuration/CLDC-1.1
and the platform to:
SonyEricssonW910i/R1CA029
Save the settings!
4) Now go to Planet 3 with your NetFront Browser
(use the Three data connection)
the url for Austria is:
http://mobile.drei.at/hb/homebase/HutchKey
and download the Skype *.jad file SAVE it to your Device! DO NOT INSTALL IT!
5) Open the Skype *.jad file with a text editor:
search for:
BackupServerUrl: and get your "Three Country specific address"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
6 Optional)
You could also use this to get the Java Version for a non WinMO Phone:
on the same url you found the Skype *.jad file there is the *.jar file
Just check your History and change the extension from *.jad to *.jar
Download the *.jar file to your device!
7 Optional)
Open the Skype *.jad file with a text editor:
Delete the whole "MIDlet-Cerificate-1-1:......" entry and save it!
I used this trick to install the Java version from the W910i on the
****ty Nokia 3120 i got on my contract, although it's not supported by Three
it works perfectly!
Three Country specific addresses:
Drei Austria: http://msite.drei.at/skype
Three UK: http://mobile.three.co.uk/948
Three Ireland: http://mobile.3ireland.ie/948
Planet 3 Url's:
Drei Austria: http://mobile.drei.at/hb/homebase/HutchKey
Three UK: http://mobile.three.co.uk/hb/singleurl
Three Ireland: http://mobile.3ireland.ie/hb/HutchKey
It would be nice if some one couldmake install cab's for the country specific
Registry entries!
I also added the Net Front Browser as a attachment!
Advantage of using Skype For Three
Advantage of using Skype For Three:
If you make a call through Skype it will root it to a normal GSM-Call.
What does that means:
You don't need a 3G connection, a normal GSM Signal will be enough
to make Skype calls.
It will not make use of your data connection during the call, so no data
will be used the call is free !!!
Because it is a normal call, all functions are working as you would expect!
The Sound is rooted through your ear peace, the screen is shutting off to
prevent accidental actions.
You can also make a group conversation and mix up people from Skype an
conventional phone numbers.
Incoming skype calls are also rooted to a normal GSM Call.

but suddenly my iskoot stopped working. can anyone help. it constantly saying unable to connect. can u pls chek ur reg of iskoot and tell me the values?
The Three Skype servers are sometimes out off order. Just try to connect again, you can also call the Three service team to ask if their Skype servers have problems right now. If the servers are alright try to uninstall iSkoot an reinstall it.
A cab for the registry changes would be really helpful, the *Three Country specific addresses* cloud be added through a text or ini file.
Can someone give us a hand with the cab... i would do it myself but i have no clue how it's done...
you are telling us, that we can make fee free calls? or have i miunderstood something...
were's the hook? or limits?
Yes you can make fee Free calls! The hook is your GSM provider has to be
http://www.three.com/ i think at the moment they are providing their service in about 10 countries.
If http://www.three.com/ is your GSM provider and you took the Skype package with your contract, Skype calls are totally free no Data or

iSkoot working with 6.5 ROM but not with 6.1
Hi,
as it's a pretty recent thread - compared to the other iSkoot threads I've found on xda-dev - so I post this here however I'm using a Diamond and not a BS...
I also came across this tutorial somewhere - MoDaCo or 3G I think - and when my Diamond arrived I've instantly flashed it with a WM6.5 ROM and installed iSkoot - and worked like a charm...
However I've decided to downgrade to official WM6.1 this Monday and installed everything, fine tuned the system, put some cool themes on and synced my Outlook data just to find out that iSkoot is not working on that rom
Tried everything without success so I reflashed WM6.5 and voila iSkoot’s working again…
I have to start to investigate the matter - I'll save the registry and other settings on the two ROMs and hopefully I'll find out what makes the difference...
Will posting back the results
ps. Just for the record credit to the people who make this happen
Wired some friends and I are using iSkoot on Win 6.1 and we don't have any problems! I think it's a specific problem with your 6.1 ROM...

Maybe you did not set the User-Agent correctly??
Anyways you don't really need to do this if you are from UK !!
Just install iSkoot and change the following Registry settings
to http://mobile.three.co.uk/948
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ISKOOT\SKYPE\DEVICE\BackupHost
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ISKOOT\SKYPE\DEVICE\CallUrl
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ISKOOT\SKYPE\DEVICE\DefaultSkHost
and if this entry exists change it, else ignor it!
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ISKOOT\SKYPE\DEVICE\Pushhost
the ROM is an official HTC

CAB for Three Ireland
Does anybody have the CAB for three Ireland. I've tried contacting three, but because it's not an official 3 phone, they won't help me out.
I had the 3 Skype on my old Nokia E65 & it's great the way it worked fully integrated with the phone. The winmo Skype that I have on my HD is rubbish & pointless, coz you have to use the speakers & the application stops everytime you get a cellular phonecall (which just defeats the purpose) & I've ended up not using it anymore.
Cheers
Sorry i have no cab, but fards was so kind and offered me making a cab.
But we need Three Country specific address for Ireland, there is a tutorial in the first post how to get that adress.
lads, i made up a guide on boards.ie
http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055448256&highlight=iskoot
pm me spipov there, or write on the thread.
Galwegian, i sent you the wrong link, sorry about that
i will quote it here:
hi everyone. i thought id write a short guide on how to get that done. i remember having a lot of trouble around october and a lot of digging around finally got me happy with my diamond and iskoot.
i wanted a device that would have iskoot, bluetooth to use on the car stereo
as well as music and gps while driving. and the diamond seemed to be the one (my old trinity wouldnt connect to 3 network).
therefore this does not use data settings but free skype to skype calls if you top up by 10 euros every month
i had an issue with my older diamond where i could not scroll down or up contacts once id rung or had a chat with someone on the diamond but my 2nd diamond doesnt seem to have this problem. i think iskoot might have updated their client as i had asked about it on their forums.
anyway,
1. download the iskoot client. ive attached it here for conveniency as iskoot.com are difficult to work around.
2. Download a registry editor for windows mobile - your own or the one attached here.
3. Install both. Run iskoot once at least (As it will create some registry entries).
4. You can try signing in with skype but it wont work.
5. Make sure you have installed all 3 mobile settings. most pocket pc's would have installed them, but they are at the bottom of the post if you need them.
6. Run The registry editor.
7. Make your way to:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\iSkoot\Skype\Device]
and change:
"CallNumber"="+353833333518"
then to
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\iSkoot\Skype\Device]
make sure those are in:
"BackupHost"="http://mobile.3ireland.ie/948"
"BaseUrl"="http://mobile.3ireland.ie/948"
"CallUrl"="http://mobile.3ireland.ie/948"
"DefaultSkHost"="http://mobile.3ireland.ie/948"
"PushHost"="http://mobile.3ireland.ie/948"
save and make sure to exit both iskoot and registry editor then starting again. it should work fine if you have 3g signal and you can configure your settings in iskoot as you please.
3 Planet settings:
as in other helpful posts on this forum:
set your opera/internet explorer/whatever browser homepage to be:

this will bring you to my3 page where you can check balance etc

HTC Touch Pro2 help needed
Greetings everyone...
First of all, I would like to thank the developers and contributors here at xda-developers for making mobile life so easy and innovative for everyone..
I am here to discuss a problem that I am facing, which could be because I am not yet experienced with unlocking concept of locked mobiles..
Scenario :
I stay in INDIA and use IDEA cellular as my GSM network. Recently I bought a "HTC TOUCH PRO2" mobile from a dealer from Mumbai (Maharashtra) via Ebay.
The dealer said the phone was unlocked and shipped it to me.
It seems the phone was a US T-mobile locked phone earlier -- that is what I see from its appearance and logo of T-Mobile on screen.
I can insert by Indian SIM and use it to call and receive calls.. So, I believe the phone is defintely unlocked..
Now the problem :
1) I am facing issues to connect to internet using the GPRS services offered by my cellular network - which is IDEA.
2) I have made sure the settings for GPRS are configured properly in my phone.
3) I can browse websites using IE in the phone, but I cannot browse using the Opera browser in the phone ----- when using GPRS.
4) But when I connect the phone to my laptop using activesync, I can browse websites both in IE and Opera.
*** Please note the difference... Opera does not work with GPRS connectivity. IE works in all instances.
5) The instant messengers that are already installed in the phone (Gtalk, Yahoo, MSN) they do not connect no matter if I am connected via GPRS or ActiveSync.
Any idea why I am facing such connectivity issues with my HTC Touch Pro2 mobile?
Any help really appreciated.. Like I mentioned, I am a bit new to these things, so kindly bear with me if my questions sound illogical.
Some things you could try:
1. Install another version of Opera. You probably have Opera 9.7, then upgrade to Opera 10.
I use this one:http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=334007&d=1275104091
You can get more version in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5902175#post5902175
2. Go to Start, Settings, Connections, Connections. You'll probably see two kinds of connections, the one you setup and My Work Network. First select Manage existing connections on your configured connection, go to Proxy Settings tab and check if This Network Connects to the Internet is selected. Then go to Advanced tab, and see that the option Programs that automatically connect to the Internet... is on your configured network, and that Programs that automatically connect to a private network is set on My Work Network.
3. Go to your mail Inbox, press Menu, Tools, Options. Select your mail account and press Edit Account Setup. Keep pressing next until you see Outgoing (SMTP) mail server. Select Advanced Server Settings, and ckeck if Network connection is set to The Internet. If it is and email is still not working, try changing it to the connection you configured (however this might mess receiving email under wifi).
Thanks for getting back to me in this thread.. I really appreciate it...

-- I did try this.. I have tried installing Opera Mobile 10 (Touch) and Skyfire browsers. Both these browsers work fine when I try to access websites when connected via ActiveSync. However, they do not seem to connect to websites when I try from GPRS.
IE however works just fine in any case.

Yes, I have tried this as well and confirmed several times that the connections are setup as per your instructions. But it wont allow the inbuild chat applications (yahoo, gtalk, msn etc) to connect to internet.

I haven't tried this yet, however, will try it today..
What I believe is, applications on my handset are trying to access T-mobile internet settings everytime. Hence, they cannot connect. However, I have made sure that I have configure the connections as per the instructions in step 2 mentioned above.
The other thing you could do is install a custom rom, that will get rid of any T-mobile setting in your phone. Besides very likely fixing your problem, it will speed everything up and gain a lot of functionality. Check this thread before doing anything: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550540
Some tips for you (but read the thread, don't skip it):
1. You have to figure out if your phone is pure GSM or CDMA-GSM. If its a Tmobile from USA its a GSM. The thread tells you how to identify each.
2. The phone has to be HardSPL, this is to unlock it so custom roms and radios can be installed. Has nothing to do with SIM-unlocking as far as I know.
3. Browse through the threads in the ROMs subforum. I use Energy's Rom, but maybe there is one that better suits you. If you go decide for Energy's, READ the first posts of the thread very carefully, especially the FAQ and explanation of different versions.
4. Flashing a ROM will delete everything from your phone. Contacts, appointments and tasks are backed up by Outlook through ActiveSync, if you want to preserve SMS try PIM Backup, its free and easy to find and use. It doesn't save MMS, those you'll have to save manually.

Bingo..... Installed the custom Energy ROM today and it has fixed almost 99.9% of the problem that I was facing.
The old original ROM was such a waste that I had started hating my HTC Touch Pro2. But installing Energy ROM has given a new life to my HTC TPII. Its just excellent..
I can now connect to internet with my service provider settings.. All applications working like a charm... Battery life seems to have improved.. The device is faster as compared to the old ROM... its just excellent..
There are a couple of issues I am facing with this Energy rom, however they are negligible and can be considered as minor errors.. Rest, the devise is working like a charm..
Connectivity issue same as above
