Sony Ericsson hbh-660 - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

is there anyway to force this headset into headset profile instead of handsfree? ofcourse as we all read, that improves sound quality and range a little...and if so, will the caller id function still work?

Caller ID only works with Hands Free

ok thats one thing sorted out...what about forcing it into headset profile? is it doable?

bt
In the Registry, delete, hkey local, microsoft, bluetooth, "HandsfreeProfileOn"
Then delete the pair, then reboot, then re pair.
I uploaded a reg program too.

thnx
thanks for the tip...will try and post results.

well this actually worked...but i don't seenm to notice any difference neither in sound nor in range... this might have been a way to force headset profile from the pda itself. what i had in mind, was to force it from the headset (a sertain sequence of button presses) . i guess what u have suggested forces headset profile in a matter that the headset is still paired as hands-free but lacking the capabilities of hands-free and acting like headset.
tell me what u think.

Yep. No hands free = no caller ID etc

Bluetooth / Is there a way to get headset-profil for MDAIII?

Hello together,
because I want to work with Voice-Dial controlled from a BT-Headset, I try to find a solution for upgrading the BT-stack.
Also would this allow to use BT-Headset for music and video....(Mediaplayer,etc.)
Did anyone have an idea in which way we can integrate a headset-profil??
May be, anyone can post the related files and registry-entries from a other device, that uses Widcomm/Broadcom-Stack.
Thanx

Handsfree - would be nice for the BMW Car BT as well
Yes, the handsfree Profile in the MDA III is missing and it hurts badly. I can't make it work with my BMW BT Carkit.
Does anyone know how to integrate Handsfree into the MDA III?
I alos would like to see this get fixed.
Just before this site had technical difficulties and lost several weeks worth of posts, there was a thread on this very topic.
It seem to me that progress was being made, but the current BT Profile only allows for Phone audio, not audio from device.
Even the not so good iPAQ 6315 had audion from device support.
I suppose first that I-Mate should fix the BT Profile all together, which is unstable on my PDA2K.
Just to clear this up....
The PDA2K does have handsfree profile. The profile only supports handsfree for phone.
What everyone is asking about is the ability to transfer audio from device to a bluetooth device (headset etc.). Is this profile called handsfree or something else, have read posts where someone mentioned it was called a different profile name?

...Hmmmm....
In a recent online conversation with a "club i-mate" tech rep- I asked about the so-called "Hands Free" profile they advertise the PDA2K as being compliant with....
ME: "My other bluetooth phone would allow me to simply speak the contacts name via my wireless headset and the phone would dial.....With my PDA2K I have to actually use the phone to dial out.......This is not a 'TRUE Handsfree OPeration'....."
Club i-mate: "True."
ME: "So the PDA2K doesn't really support 'Hands Free' profile as advertised, but rather ONLY 'Headset' profile?"
Club i-mate: "Yes."
I have been VERY pleased with all of my PDA2K EXCEPT for the Bluetooth functions. They totally dropped the ball with the Bluetooth on this device....
Interesting news.
Have you tried with voice software on the PDA2K?
Tomorrow (Saturday night now) I will break out the car kit and headset and see what I can learn. The car kit (nothing special, just Supertooth) allows both headset and handsfree, different button combo to activate.

Yes, I have Microsoft Voice Command on my PDA2K.
However, It requires activation by pressing a button on the PDA2K- and will only accept voice commands directly- via its own microphone- It will not activate/accept speech via a wireless headset, like ALL my previous bluetooth phones....
Again, this is not a true hands free mode- and it is entirely a limitation of the firmware/bluetooth radio stack Carrier Devices is using in the PDA2K at this time....
...for instance, with my SE T610, I could leave my phone in my jacket pocket or briefcase- in the trunk of my car, and still activate/voice dial anyone in my contact list simply by pressing one button on my wireless headset....
...as well, I could accept incoming calls just the same, as a tone would be heard in the headset, and a single press would accept the call. The PDA2K will not allow this. My PDA2K will not automatically find/activate my headset when an incoming call is made- it wont even let me use the headset 'unless' I have an active link to it- but when you keep an active link to ANY bluetooth headset and turn the unit off, it will repeatedly turn itself back on and run the battery nearly dead in a couple hours. I discovered this the hard way.
ABSOLUTELY USELESS bluetooth software in the PDA2K.....
I'm using SE HBH60 headset with Qtek 9090, if i receive a call and bt headset is off, i can just simply turn it on and press the button on the headset and the call is answered...If it's on already, i hear a ring in the headset and can answer the call by just pressing the button in the headset.

Would you care to exaggerate here?
When I recieve calls, if I do not have an active link to my bluetooth headsets, I cannot answer with them... I must first go inot bluetooth manager and click on headset and click on 'connect'- which can take more than a few seconds each time I do....
I have tried this woth my Motorola, several Bluespoon's and my in-car handsfree system.... None will work unless the connection was made 'live' before the call, and then the PDA2K will not stay shut off, thus draining the battery...........

I think part of problem is the required button press, which isn't required on your other phones.

When you have your bluetooth headset connected and the PDA enters the standby mode (for example, you don't use it for few minutes), if you receive a call does the headset automatically reconnect?
I'm using 9090 with Nokia HDW-3 BT headset, and I'm in trouble when I put my PDA in stand by leaving BT activated and the headset connected. It seems that after few minutes of standby the headset disconnects, but PDA's BT led is still flashing... Maybe is there any power saving feature in PDA's bluetooth stack so when in standby it disconnects the headset?
BMW bt car kit
The Xda IIs works fine with handsfree profile BT devices (such as car kits), I have personally tried it with a BMW built in jobby (X5) & a Nokia ck 7w. It also works fine with BT headsets.
I can only assume that the other providers/networks have made the same mistake that O2 did with the XdaII, i.e. use the Microsoft BT stuff which does NOT support hands-free, only headset profiles.
Perhaps one of the clever folk on here can suggest a way to get the O2 version on your phones?

BMW BT with XDAII?
Would you please irblinx be more specific about how have you been able to made ANY kind of call through your XDAII?
My BMW series 5 built in BT hands free simply fails to Connect to the XDAII. I'm carrying a SE T68 just to use my car hands free system. Stupid way of using an 1000+ $ BMW extra.
Any help is wellcome!
:?
some confusion here (at least partly due to O2 giving the new model a confusing name!), the xda II does NOT work with car kits.
Only the new IIs works
Headset profile for PDA2K/9090
Sorry for my poor English
I need "HEADSET profile" for my PDA2K
Now all headset work with headset and hands free, but i nead "force" the headset mode with PDA2K
In headset mode (no hands free) I can use one headset for more devices, like PDA2K, notebbok, cellular phone.
In hands free mode the headset work with a device at time.

Motorola HT820 bluetooth stereo headset problems.

I've recently acquired one of these headsets and have managed 2 pair it with my O2 XDA II mini. However, i am unable to stream music to the headset but am able to answer calls and make them too. Does anyone know how i could stream music from my phone to my headset?
if you check in the forum for your pda, i believe you will find you have to upgrade your bluetooth software?
then you will find new menu's in the bluetooth settings including audio/audio streaming.
have the headphones, and am very pleased
already have da software
Hey, i already have the software but the thing is nothing appears in the box labelled "default headset" even after i have paired the device with my XDA. And whenever i try 2 stream music, it initially says connecting but eventually the connection fails and the music does not stream to my headset. Does anyone know how i can get the headset to appear in the default headset drop down box?
when you paired the h/set & phone, what choices did you get?
When I turn my headphones on, my handsfree part pairs but my stereo part won't pair automatically, usually. I just connect it manually, but sometimes it won't just connect so I have to disconnect the handsfree part before I connect the stereo part then reconnect the handsfree part. Occassionally, I have to repeat more than once.
Pair it to the device you want stereo from, start the default "Headset" system for normal talking, press the left multifunction to terminate the connection to the "headset" profile, then press the right multifunction button to trigger the "stereo headset" profile to start.
Or, try to force it after pairing and then press the rightmultifunction to accept the connection and have the device bind that call to that function, enabling and disabling the stereo data.
I had to do the first part with my new HP iPAQ hx2495 to get the stereo headset profile going when i installed the headset as both stereo and regular.
I finally got my HT820 working
I have a T-mobile US MDA.
I first upgraded to ROM 2.24 which supports A2DP, which is what the headset uses for sound other than the phone. (When you flash your ROM it intalls all new boot up software so it changes your hard-reset process, and you lose your support.) Then I paired. You should see the services the headset offers, handsfree and stereo. There's also a menu available when you hold-slelect the name of the BT device in the device list that's handy.
I did discover that it is a headset problem if the sound skips out irratically averaging about 20 seconds. There was a bad batch sent out to/from Hong Kong. Motorola is replacing mine, but I had to pay to ship it to them.
Hope this helps!
I don't want to hijack your thread but I don't know where else to turn. I have requested help elswhere on this forum for my problem but I can't seem to get any help.
I have a ht820 and a cingular 8125. I've been able to pair the headset with my phone but, when I try to play a mp3, the voice speed dial comes up, the mp3 plays for about 3 seconds, then the mp3 audio reverts back to the phone.
Do I have to flash to a different rom, do I have to tweak registry settings? I don't really have a clue what I should do. Please help.
Porter
Edit: I've solved my problem. See this thread for my fix.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=58192&highlight=
Thanks
Actually what it sounds like is the phone is only connecting to the headset for that time under the premise of a voice dial with the headset profile. I think you're lucky enough that you can get it to play for those 3 seconds. I have a Sony Ericcson w810i and I can't even get any audio from it to the headset at all without using the w810i's 3.5mm adapter to the patch cable on the headphones which just looks weird. But you might want to do a search for your model phone like this, "Cingular 8125 Motorola HT820" and see what kinda results you get.

Artemis & Jabra bt620s problems

Hi, I really need some help to solve theese:
After connecting Jabra bt620s (bluetooth stereo headset) to Artemis there are only two profiles under this device: Handsfree and Wireless stereo (i guess the last means A2DP). I can place and receive calls and listen to music in stereo, even turn volume up and down.
1. But other buttons on headset don't work No play/pause, prev/next and rewinding. So what do I need to make them work? Are there any bt stack patches for Artemis like for Prophet, or maybe some special software? AFAIK there has to be special bt profile support to make the trick.
2. How to redirect all sounds to bt headset in stereo? I REALLY want to listen to fm-radio through Jabra 620. But even when bt headset is connected to Artemis radio goes to either connected wired headset or built in speaker Is there any solution?
Thanks in advance!

Re:
1. In order for the controls to work, the device should support the AVRCP bluetooth profile. Not sure though whether the Artemis supports that profile, and in any case this would not mean there would not be other issues.
2. Do you mean that the no sound is received by the Jabra, or that it is being received in mono? If the latter there is a registry change to a 'JointStereo' setting that should do the trick.

1. I guess that AVRCP bt profile is NOT supported on Artemis by default. The question is what can be done to somehow add this profile to Artemis. Applying some patches or something...
2. I mean that no sound is received by the Jabra. Sound goes to either wired headset or built in speaker.
AVRCP IS supported by the Artemis.
You need to make sure the player that you use supports as well. I have tried WMP and PocketMusic, and they both support it. Works great with my Jabra320s.
All my sounds are transfered automatically to my BT headset.. system sounds and my GPS program (MapKing) sounds.
Radio CAN NOT be run unless you have a wired headset inserted, as it acts as an antennae. Even so, I doubt sound will come to your BT headset. It just acts that way.

I REALLY hope that there IS the way at least to redirect radio output to bt headset instead of built in speaker. Maybe registry tweak or some special software.
So research on this topic continues!

Well, I gave it a try, but didn't download Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 yet. On fist try it doesn't do the trick Maybe because of lack of that MS thing. I'll get and try it later.

Whoa.. the speeding up and slowing down is little.. but noticeable. I didn't know anyone else would notice it.. hehe
Yes.. I do have that.. it happens especially after the pause.
I set my BitPool value to "45".. which has very little noise, but hardly skips. The thing is, I feel that if I make sudden moves or go further than 2 metres without a straight line of sight, the music will get cut off
Higher bitPool value will increase quality, and pauses.
How about you? What is your bitPool value?
Set to 45 aswell also do notice a high freqency wail in the background.

Yes it does.. but I'm outdoors and commuting most of the time when using the headset, and thus that level doesnt bother me much. It's a balance I would say.. But could be better..

Hi,
I'm proudly to have a bluetppth headset now. and i have to say it works very fine for me. with a few registry changes i even can listen to the music with the headset, but less quality, but it works. my problem is now that i can't use the voice speed dial by pressing the button on the headset. it only opens the phone keypad
i don't want to put out my phone everytime to dial or number or to use the voice speed dial. i want to start it with the headset. my question now is:
is there any possibility or programm to assign buttons from the headset to the phone, that i can do other stuff, like oben programs or something like this.
would be nice if anyone can help me.
btw. i have a htc herald

For using voice dialling you can use 'MS Voice Command 1.6' or 'Cyberon Voice Commander' along with 'JETware Mobile' application.
For assigning hardware key, you can do so with 'AE Button'.
Try it, I hope it'll help you definately.

Hi,
i have a Nolan Bike Helmet with the N-COM Bluetooth Headset.
When i connect it with my HTC Touch i can see it and use it as a Phone Headset but not as stereo wireless for listening music... even if it is suable in such way with other phones.
In fact if i click on the bluetooth entry in the settings of the helment the "stereo wireless" option is greyed out
Any idea?
Any registry editing that can trim usable the stereo wireless???

Ringtone only in headset, driving me nuts!

in my tp2 i noticed that when i have a wired or bluethooth headset conected and someone calls me it only rings in the headphones! this made me lose several phone calls.
in other devices i had , i used a reg hack for it to ring in the device speaker and headphone,so i tried in my tp2 but it does not work as the reg hack is related to the microsoft bluethooth stack.
therefore i m asking for help and also if other tp2 users can confirm this issue.
my bt heaset is a jabra bt3030.
thanks
I am having the same problem with my TP2, the headset becomes useless for this reason.
I use a Sennheiser MM-200 headset, bought this headset not to have earphones plugged in ears all time but only when i have incoming call.
Not sure what to tell you about the wired headset, but is your BT using the normal headset BT profile or is it connecting also with A2DP/Stero BT? That could be part of the problem.
In the Bluetooth menu it is connected with: "Stereo Audio" and "Hands-free"
you can switch off the stereo audio function and stay with the hans-free function only. it works fine, but you have to do it manually.
wolfgang
I made a soft reset and now the phone rings even with stereo audio enabled - whats good for me, but i do not understand why
Hi Faria,
There is a setting in the BT config to transfer "ALL" system sounds to the connected audio device, this may be your issue. I don't use a wired but my Rhodium rings in the headset and on the device after removing this option.
Cheers,
Beasty
I really hate this feature too. I am used to listening to music on my BT hedset. So when I get home I would just take them off, put the phone on my desk and go about my business. But if I don't disconnect the headset now I won't notice it ringing... which can lose in lost phone calls.
Hopefully someone will find a workaround.
Start>Settings>Connections>Bluetooth
First tab (gears)>Advanced>Audio
"Play system sounds on remote hands-free device" = uncheck
Just tested and works for me.
I get the normal ringtone from the phone and the regular "beep" from the stereo headset.
FYI, this is basically the same information as listed two posts up...
On my old phone if my headset was in and my phone rang it would say call from and state the persons name through my headset. The ringer itself wouldn't play through my headset nor the phone. And now I can't remember but I know it beeps in my ear but I think the phone plays the actual ringer also at the same time. But if I checkmark what you guys are unchecking will the actual ringer play through my plantronics bt headset and not on the phone.. I kind of would like that for if I am out and dont' want my phone to ring all loud I would rather the ringer play in my ear and was wondering if that's what happens when I check that. Mine was unchecked when I got the phone.. I don't havea bt headset I use for music just talking mostly when driving..
