hi - i have downloaded the XDA-developers-SER-v12.exe from jeff summers post at http://cuba.calyx.nl/~jsummers/XDA/XDA-developers-SER-v12.exe when i run the program it says that it cannot find the ROM image to upgrade your pocket pc please download and try again. i think my question is - how do i make the download from jeff see the rom image i have to enable it to make the modifications and then install it to my device....... many thanks in anticipation of some assistance. :?
Have you looked at the file size? I would try downloading it again, it maybe you have a corrupt or partial file.
hi thanks for your reply - i have now checked the file size - the download is 15.4 meg and the file i have is also 15.4 meg .... i will however download the file again just to eliminate the corrupt file issue and will post to this thread the results of trying to run the newly downloaded version. thanks for your reply.
i have done as i said but i still get the same error message.... 007 cant find the rom image ... can you or anyone tell me the procedure for using this developers program as per the above link from jeff... i need to know where to place the rom image so that the program can find and adjust it.
Just to check whether it's the file contents and not something else, change the file name to .zip and use Winzip to check the file. You should find a directory named \english that has a file named NK.nbf with a size of 32 MB
In that case if you have SD card and reader/writer, just move this file to the SD card and use the bootloader (power button + soft reset) to flash your XDA.
Hi thanks for your reply – I have done as you asked and yes the file does exist….. the only card reader writer I have is the xda its self via activsync – will this be suitable ?? – I have read lots of info of this site and wondered do I run the risk of destroying my xda by being of limited ability and not using a “.exe” self installing method. ?
Hi ...
If you can extract the NK.nbf file, then you can use the XDAtools from this site. Use the OSImage tool to copy the file contents to your XDA flash ROM. I would recommend taking a backup first using the same tool but with the opposit source/destination.
If you still get the error message then you are stuck to the SD card method. Up to my info (didn't try it tho), copying the file through the XDA will not work as the card will be formated during the the copying, you must use a PC reader\writer for this.
You better be very careful as YES there is always possibility to turn your XDA into a very expensive paper weight!! ... but by following the instructions it will go very smoothly.
Good luck ...
thanks i will give it my best shot and return here with the results....and possibly an expensive paper weight
many thanks.
Hi there,
I have some previous backups (nandroid.md5) files and I would like to explore them in order to retreive some files.
I am looking for a way through mac or win 7. I do not want to restore te back up version.
Any ideas ?
I don't know about files but you can get apps from a nandroid via appextractor
And PLZ!!!!!! QUESTIONS IN THE GENERAL SECTION...... EVEN IF THEY ARE DEV RELATED!!!
The md5 contains only the files' checksum which is used to check if is corrupt or not. You really can't extract any information from them.
The main content lies in the other files.
You can use unyaffs to extract and view the files.
The sd-ext partition is backed up in tar format so you extract it using tar.

Great tool for extracting single files/folders from a nandroid backup without restoring.
It's been very usefully for me.
sorry guys my mistake.
I need to retrieve all camera photos from a backup image.
I just noticed that the md5 file is too small to contain images and I found some .img files.
Is there a way I can extract them straight to my pc and not from the phone?
I find it hard to locate the files through nandroid browser.
Thanks a lot for you help and apologise for the incovenience.

Your camera pictures are saved to the sdcard and not a nandroid backup look in the DCIM folder on your SD card

Hey..
I made backup of ROM via CWM but it saved the files to somewhere odd place and explorers can't find the location, what to do?
How I can move it back to "sdcard" ??
Edit: I found it: /mnt/shell/emulated/clockworkmod
Okay Fellas I need help with the basics.
I have a Galaxy Note 3. I successfully rooted it using the guidance provided here by the members. I also put clockworkmod revoery on the phone.
I am attempting to use clockwork mod to download zip files from my computer onto my external SD card and then install the included programs onto my phone. Everything works with me using Samsung Kies to detect my phone on my computer. I downloaded the zip files and UNZIPPED them first. I then used Kies to transfer the unzipped files onto my phone. I then used Clockwork mod and hit install zip. Next I selected install from external SD card and I see the unzipped files in clockwork. But everytime I select the files Clockwork tells me there are no files available, yet it is showing me the files. Essentially I am getting a reading of no content on the unzipped files I am being shown inb Clockwork.
Maybe the mistake i am making is I am not supposed to be unzipping the files before uploading them to my phone. Should they stay as zipped files when I transfer them or am I right in unzipping them forst on the computer.
I have been struggling with trying to get Clockwork to install the files for two days. Maybe you guys can tell me what basic steps that I am missing
Thanks so much
No need to unzip

you put it in internal sd or external sd?
Tap install & internal sd should show with documents folder a few lines down.
If not tap select storage to change to external (or internal if you were in external already) again documents folder should be a few lines down.
Note: as you are in install option it will only show .zip files, if you extracted it before nothing will show up (same if you created img file)
