I have been using JogButton for years and love the functionality it provides. I have just recently purchased the SX66 (HTC BlueAngel) and JogButton doesn't work. (It just holds on the first entry). Are there any more compatible programs available?
Thanks!
JogButton does work on the BA, I use it every day.
What do you mean by "Holds on the first entry" ?
For me, I set the button to the Left (Normally Start Menu) button on the d-pad.
Tap it once to start cycling, again to stop when item you want is listed.
At what point does this fail for you ?
Ok, I had it programmed to the Windows Media button. It would just hang on the first item and not scroll anymore. I just tried it on the contact button and it does indeed work.
What do you put in to replace the Start Menu command?
Thanks,
Scott

hi guys , i know this might seem a strange question but like most my stylus is loose in the holder and i sometimes need to use the keyboard to do most things on the unit and i cant find anywhere that activates the start option on the screen. I have done it by accident once but nothing since. i have checked the manual and it mentions it no where all operations seem to be around the stylus?
does anyone know what key combination it is ?
I have a 02 phone and unlike tmobile which has a one of the 4 buttons on front setup to do this as one of the defaults.
cheers in advance
It should be ctrl+escape on a full keyboard. It might also be enabled by the windows or context menu keys, not sure what your keyboard looks like.
You can use my VJKeypress to get this as well. I think it's keycode 91, not sure, check my website.

Why not assign one of the hardware buttons to do this, each one can have a duel function assigned either a tap or hold, according to the phone, in reality this doesn't work (unless anyone knows different - latest O2 ROM - not messed around with), whatever you set for a tap is also carried accross to the hold function, go to settings and locate the power buttons icon select it, then select the button you want (ok for example) then assign the <Start Menu> from the drop down box, press OK, the device might want a soft reset (mine did when I just tried this), when it comes back up hit the assigned button, and use the four way thumb control to navigate through the menus, it saves sliding out the keyboard and it becoming loose - Mike
cheers for this when i tried to reassign buttons before like the camera it wouldnt let me change them ..i hate the camera button getting accidently caught same as the record one as well.
cheers for the advance will do that would just like to know for my own peace of mind as well how to use the keyboard to do it, it should be possible.
I'm trying out a T-Mobile Dash as a replacement for my MDA, which did not survive a ride on the top of the car. Some things have me really confused:
1. Is there a way to get to the voicedial feature in less than 11 keypresses? Is there a way to put it on the quicklist? (The MDA had a button.)
2. After some period of time, selecting the voicedial feature through the start menu only returns me to the today screen. I have to power off and power on the device to get it to work again.
3. I have assigned a speed dial number to voicedial, so in theory one keypress could get me there. But it too returns me to the today screen; I'm guessing the problem here is whatever is going on with #2.
4. Is there a way to reorder the icons in the start menu so that things I use would be on the first page?
5. Is there a way for a bluetooth headset to call up the voicedial feature?
6. Is there a source of further documentation on some of the features of the phone, like voicedial, speeddial, the port on the bottom, and so on. The T-mobile manual on the disk is pretty thin.
7. The manual skips the power button and talks about taking the battery out to soft-reset the device. But it looks like the power button does a soft-reset. Do they do separate things?
8. Is there a trick to dialing with the number keys I am missing? Sometimes, dialing the numbers pulls up contacts based on the 2-abc, 3-def convention, and sometimes it pulls up contacts based on 2-e, 3-r, etc convention. I can't figure out how to control that.
9. In Messaging, I've set the device to download headers only. When I see a message I want to read, I can toggle the message to download the body "next time you connect and receive e-mail." However, this only seems to work if you connect and receive e-mail while the message is open (that is, one by one). I don't seem to be able to select several messages to be downloaded and do them all at once.
10. If you miss a call, you get a missed-call icon on the top line. How can you clear this icon?
There are some things about this device that are way better than the MDA, like the "Internet Sharing" way of using it as a modem for a laptop.
Yes. RTFM. For VoiceDial hold the home key.
Everything you took the time to type is pretty much covered in the 'thin' manual...

Thanks for the response. Actually, I can't find this in the T-Mobile manual, and it doesn't work on my phone.
more tips
i have been using the smt5600 and have found that the charging cables from boxwave seem to work fine. what i can't seem to find anywhere is an adaptor from the mini usb to a 3.5mm audio plug for connectiong to travel speakers?
hey guys, i downloaded this program, but i cant seem to figure out how to copy and paste. i thought u just held down the joystick key, yet that doesnt seem to be working (yes i clicked on teh icon and the program is running) thanks
omar
The program should install itself so that you don't have to do anything to launch it when your phone boots. The only indication you have is a rectangular yellow box that pops up after your get to main screen that says 'the application is running'. Once it does, keep the center button in the D-pad pressed for 3 or 4 seconds and the menu should pop up. One thing to note that it doesn't always work in all applications.
it doesn't work for me, either - no way to activate it.
hardware: o2 xda cosmo running original wm5.0 (O2 branding)
i cannot figure out how to use it either...
Does anybody know where I can get a program that simulates the Back Button on many smartphone and some ppc devices. It is a "Go Back" aka "previous" aka "return" command that could be assigned. I would like to assign it using Hbutton to one of the buttons on my 8125.
I use to have a smartphone and now have a ppc. It is probably the button I used and missed the most. Easy to just go back a step if you made a wrong entry/selection etc, (kindof like the "up" command in file explorer, but different and a little more involved than the Alt-Tab for switching programs)... This would take me to the next level.
Thanks

It's not that you are asking the wrong question, its that there is no answer...
You see all that 'back' button does is send the same code as 'Esc' key on your PC keyboard. (thats 0x27 if you are interested).
There are probably several utilities that can simulate this, but the problem is the whole OS and the apps designed for PPC are not made to take in to account the existence of a 'back' button so they just won't respond to it.
(Well maybe some will, but it will never work as smoothly as on smartphone and may have some undesired side effects).
Hi all,
I apologise if this is not the right place to pose this question, but I just got a Touch HD on an Orange contract a couple of days ago, and I can't seem to be able to change the text entry method on my handset. It always stays as 'Phone Keypad', no matter which method I select, from the several methods listed: Block Recognizer, Compact QWERTY, Full QWERTY, Keyboard, etc. It's the same whether I try to make the selection by pressing the "OPTIONS" button on the phone keypad, or whether I go through Start->Settings->Input
All the software/hardware configuration on my handset is exactly as it was when I received it from Orange, so far I haven't even installed a single new program.
Any help? TIA
Hi.
Can't offer any advice as such, but can tell you that I got my HD from Orange just over a week ago, and I can change the keyboard without any problems.
I originally had a Touch Diamond, so I knew how I wanted it set up. I just brought up the menu from the keyboard at the bottom of the screen when it first popped up and did it from there.
Sorry I can't be any help, other than to tell you that you should be able to do it!
Good luck mate.
Hi,
I had the exact same problem but i wasnt too bothered but then I installed Gyrator and everything started to work.
Hi,
I had the exact same problem but i wasnt too bothered but then I installed HD Tweak and Gyrator and everything started to work. I have no idea how it worked though.
I got this phone yesterday, and I too was confused as to how I selected the different input method. Then I worked it out
It must be a bug with their firmware. You have to HOLD DOWN the centre button, keep your finger pressed and slide it up the screen to select the preferred input method. I think I did this when I was in the Compose SMS screen.
Since then, mine's stayed as I selected it - on Full QWERTY.
Hope this helps!

Same happened with mine. If you click on the options then you cant change it, however if you click on the box in the middle of the screen at the bottom, you can change them.. Bizarre!

Thanks for the replies and suggestions, guys. I've got it working for me too: by pressing the 4x4 grid-like icon at the bottom centre of the screen to bring up the keyboard, and then pressing the small upward-pointing arrowhead that brings up keyboard options. I guess that's what ultrazonixe probably means... although I couldn't get it work by sliding my finger upwards off the centre button as langauld suggested (except if incidently I did it from the arrowhead icon).
Thanks for the help!
Yes this is quite tricky till you get the idea.
Press the bottom middle button (icon of keypad) to get the keypad up, if its not already up.
Then the bottom icon changes and adds a small up arrow just to the right of the keypad icon. (nothing to do with the four arrows just below the keypad)
you have to press this small up arrow just to the right of the keypad icon and a menu pops labled "touch input settings".
its not the same one that comes up when you press the options tab which does not work.
Press the right choice eg full qwerty or whatever, and hey presto the keypad changes instantly.
same here
Yes I could change it .. via selecting the arrow next to the mini keyboard on the bottom ... but it used to reset it self every time I starsted the phone...
Now I have TouchPal.. I have never looked back.
