many say dual sims work and many say they dont so whats the final verdict. i have an orange connection and they seem to scam me every month as i said too many text messages. i have just got one of those 300 free text message o2 sims and wanna use both of them togather without having to carry another phone.
i think you will find that your phone is locked to you network. so you won't be able to use the o2 sim.
SORTED!!
for anyone who is scare of doing this ive doen it and it works. i have an orange contract sim card and o2 onlien pay as you go sim card working togather. these sims are both new so this has nothing to do with how new the sim cards are so thats bull.
the adapter i bought was a cheaop chinese one rather than ones people pay £15 pounds for so its dosent matter if you see a cheap one.
the hardest part was cuttiing the sims cos i was scared i would make them useless but there were stickers that helped to outline how to cut them. still i had to cut some of the sim bits as well. works fine. another diffciult bit was getting the stickers off.
dotn worry after you cut them you get a resume card which you can use to make your sim normal again and it all works fine.
im me if you have any questions ill be more than happy to assist as i can...
I bought two adaptors because initially I didn't want to cut the SIMs and I had no idea how they phisically where. Here you can see the photos:
http://pof.eslack.org/blog/2005/05/19/dual-sim/
The first one doesn't fit, so I had to cut the sims and use the second one. It works fine for me. Just turn flight mode on and then off again to switch sims.
FYI I bought them at eBay, really cheap.
Were you able to fit it at the back? Were you able to close back the battery properly. I am worried that the space at the back will not allow such SIM adaptor. Waiting for your reply as I do intend to use another SIMCard if possible.
The one where you don't have to cut the SIMs doesn't fit, so don't buy it.
This one is the one that fits, because its the size of a single SIM card, but contains two SIMs:
http://pof.eslack.org/blog/wp-content/dualsimholder.jpg
the adpater is thicker no doubt. you can push it in though. if you dont wanna get it out every so often theres no problem. if you do then you are going to have a struggle. when you do take it out do it carefully cos you dotn want to break the clip that holds the sim. i havent broken mine but always scared i will.
BUY THE ONE WHERE YOU HAVE TO CLIP THE SIM. SOUNDS SCARY BUT IF I CAN DO IT SO CAN YOU. IM NOT GOOD WITH DELICATE THINGS LIKE THAT AND I MANAGED
forgot to tell you one thing. it does make life simple by not having to swap sims or carry two phones. the hassle is when you have to keep switching the radio off or dooing a soft reset to swap around. someone on this forum suggested a facility where you could use two sims at the same time so you could get netrwork from both. good idea but not possible i thought about it and im not a techie.everytime i go on the tube it swaps netwroks when im underground. that is a hassle but i guess theres good and bad things about everything.
read about the sim programming sim if you can get hold of that get it cos that sounds interesting. i cannotbe bothered as this works fine for me.
Why so confusion...Gaurav...go to any telephone shop and ask for a dual sim adaptor where ever u are in India....the shop man will show u differrent kinds of the adapters...choose one which fits your device ...
I am using the ghost sim,,,china made...in XDA2s very successfully since past 3 months.... 8)
hdubli... im indian but live in teh uk so its bit difficult. i saw them really cheap whilst on holiday last time. round here cannot find shops that seel them cheap so had to get it off ebay. think i got hold of the same one as you but i bet you got it 10 times cheaper than what i paid maybe you can start supplying to people from there. i dunno...
would be nice if there was an accessorties shop of some sort on this forum where people could buy tested items which are guaranteed to work.

Check out this article: Dual Sim Adapter - Is It Any Good?
It's about my personal experience with a twin sim ghost adapter and might contain information you consider useful.
Ghost Dual SIM
I bought a Php500 (around USD9) Ghost Dual SIM Adaptor.
It works flawlessly switching between my main Globe SIM Card and my secondary 24/7 Sun Cellular SIM.
Switching is done thru Flight Mode ON/OFF. Losing signal like passing thru basement parking and elevators does not switch SIMS.
As bonus, the local mobile phone accessory stores here in Philippines have their own puncher so trimming the SIM card is not a problem. They do it for free.

thats the same one which i had, it broke after about the 5th time i took it out
With that information, I will never remove this Dual SIM Adaptor until it is really necessary and unavoidable.
Actually, I installed mine in the store where I bought it. The first two adaptors were defective. Of course, I didnt pay for it. I expected high defects rate of these SIM Adaptors as they really look cheap construction-wise.
Multi SIM - SIM MAX - changing phone number by STK
HIIII! I'm from Portugal and i have bought a SIM MAX ( http://www.sim-max.com/ ), i´ve programed 2 of the 12 numbers that the card supports. In my Alcatel mobile phone it works, but in my Qtek 9090 only works with the 1th number, i can't change between numbers or networks....
Can any one program the Radio version to make it possible, in my alcatel, in STK menu e see the SIM options and i can change between the 12 numbers, but in my Qtek 9090 i can´t see the STK options...
Qtek 9090
Rom Version: 1.40.00 WWE
Rom date: 03/10/05
Radio version: 1.12.00
Protocol version: 1337.42
ExtRom version: 1.40.147 WWE
Be CAREFUL
while inserting the dual sim "container".
Not only is the cintainer "fragile", the QTEK ALSO.
I bought a dual and, while trying to insert it, I broke one of the two "metal clamps" that hold it on the sides.
Happily I can still fit the dual sim inside and, by pushing the battery on it, it stands still... and works....
However: since then the QTEK does not "feel" the backup battery anymore.
on every reset I get the "low backup battery msg" and indeed if I look at the battery level in settings a nice 0% is shown.
Annoying but at least I did not broke it altogether.
So: be careful and if someone has some clue on how to repair let me know.
Ciao
iv been waiting for this for ages.
http://www.wivit.com/products/downloads.shtml
its only just come out. iv been waiting so long i no longer use a dual sim :-(
Just installed this software... It works great... so much easier! A must have to all XDA users with dual sim!
DUPLICATE POST... PLEASE DELETE!
WIVIT SIM Status Switcher
I tried to install it to my IIs Rom 1.40 with Radio 1.13. I use a GHOST DUAL SIM ADAPTOR, the one where you have to cut the SIM CARD. At present, I switch SIM thru FLIGHT MODE on/off.
It will appear as installed program when I check the REMOVE PROGRAM but I could not see how to use it.
I also reset it after installation and still the same.
I also tried installing both the .exe and .cab and both don't work.
Waiting for any advice on what I am doing wrong.
You have to add it to your today screen as it's not activated by default.
Caught me out too!
Go to: START/SETTINGS/TODAY
Select ITEMS tab at the bottom
and then check the box SIM STATUS SWITCHER
Et voila!
Good programme. But for 15GBP and possible more USD I think this is an attempt at armed robbery. It is people like this that encourage software piracy. This thing is not worth more than 5GBP at most.
Meanwhile for those who havent bought their sim adapter, please look out for those ones that come with STK programme that allows you to switch SIMs.
Here in Nigeria there is one that has the STK programme and cost less than 15pounds.
Installed in my M1000 this morning it's brill as i change sims about 4 times a day to send text's. But £15 I dont know as you can do it for free with the flight mode. I will have to see when my trail peroid runs out.
Definately faster than turning flight mode on and off though.
Also good that you can see on the today screen which sim is currently active... had a few mishaps making calls on my "pay as you go" sim draining the credit etc.
Check toosten SIMname V1.3.4, much cheaper (6.95 €)...:
http://toosten.de/index.php?seite=sw&id=4
German software... I won' be able to understand it... plus I can't read how to use it.
Anyway, for some reason my trial of "Sim Status Switcher" doesn't seem to be running out! It's still on 15days (The full trial period), installed it nearly 2days ago!
A possible bug? Well if it continues I'll be saving myself £15!
Does anyone know if their are any other dual sim holders for the blue angel that don't require cutting the sim card? Don't really have to cut the work mobile sim card!

and you've not had to cut the sim cards?
Just wanted to tell you all how pleased I am with Wivit dual sim program.
Works very well.Just one touch to switch sims, displays sim number in use. Have missed calls because of wrong sim in use. Finally the support answered in 2 mins.I was shocked!
I had probelems with the trial version
It wouldn't display my phone number alays shows "unavailable"
It wouldn't properly enter my SIM password
when I tried to fill in the support form on the web site, I was told that my IMEI number was incompatible.
Nice idea, and if I can get a working version, I'd probably pay the £15 as I will be needing to switch SIMs regularly & it's a nice thing to be able to easily see what phone number is currently active
[problems sorted - see below]
Got it working with a quick exchange of emails & I like it. It'll remember my SIM passwords & correctly enter them when I switch SIMs 8) , so for my £15 its worth it for ease of use

its just software, or am I wrong? I cant find a link to buy a card or adapter? Or a SIM cloning thing?
Does it works on O2 XDA IIS?
I would like to know if it works with O2 XDA IIs and what this soiftware does?
The WIVIT solution is a piece of software that you use in addition to a DUAL SIM card adapter available elsewhere. I bought my dual SIM adapter on eBay for about £10. Most dual SIM adapters simply switch from SIM to SIM each time you switch the phone on, so you could simply turn flight mode on and off to switch SIMs.
I use WIVIT simply because in addition to quickly swicthing SIMS it displays the phone number of the active SIM in the Today screen, and also automatically enters my SIMs' PINs for me when I switch. I think that this is worth paying for
PS - I use the "King of Double Card" SIM adapter & have an O2 XDA2s
How many people on here have the king of doublecard twin sim adapter off ebay and how are you getting on with them?
Does the battery still fit ok?
Mine arrived today & I fitted it in a matter of a couple of minutes - the battery still fits, the two SIMs lie flat no problem.
I've also splashed out on the WIVIT SIM Status switching software
I have the one where you have to cut the sims, working very well. Done quite a few for friends, cant go wrong. Try it, no need to pay for a switcher, it has an stk app that does that
king of doublecard working great for me.

anyone got a link to this on ebay? cant find it anywhere!
I did a post somewhere on the board showing you ebay links and methods.
I've got one without the stk app, so you have to go to flight mode off, then on, to switch, but cutting the sim cards, although risky, can be done successfully, as I've done it with an O2 contract and orange PAYG.
V
did people actually slice up their SIMs ???
Hi guys go mine and it works atreat now , bought it from ebay
Not going to lie to you, the product is made from poor  quality but from £3. I get my money worth, and it does the job the ways i can switch are either by doing a soft rest or by puting the phone into flightmode and then back to normal phone mode, , iv addedsomepics for your benifit.
Guys, I've got a magician and I sliced and diced my cards fine.
Had troubles getting the Magician to register the sims, but that was because of it not providing enough pressure on the back of the SIM (stick some paper into the metal sleave to correct this).
This is the ebay link for the one I bought:
Look for "UNIVERSAL DUAL SIM **SHIPPED FROM THE UK**". I cost me about £3. The card is fine, the guy was ok, but shipping was steep from London (ie P&P is hiked up, but overall can't complain).
It works, but there is another one out with an "STK" menu built in to switch cards by going into the SimToolKit program. However, it's easy enough to go to flight mode and back quickly enough to switch. I read that this one drains battery faster. No comment on that. It worked for me.
So: SLICING DOES WORK. But, do it carefully. I've posted about 10 times on this - do it carefully, ensure you remove the transparent guide sticker after the cutting, and check it in a nokia or another phone before putting it in the Magician, to convince yourself you've done the slicing correctly
That ebay guy will also "stamp cut" the cards for you for free if you post them to him.
Good luck!
No, it's not possible to have two sims working simultaneously. Best we can hope for is 2 lines per sim, like Orange's Line2 service.
There are some cards that are 16in1 card copiers etc. these don't work in the UK, and will fubar your SIM when trying to crack the encryption. Be warned

what about the data settings then?
sounds great, I am tempted to go for it, but do you have to re-enter the GPRS settings each time you switch from a sim card to another? Since say, O2 and orange don't use the same proxy servers to connect to the web via GPRS, I guess the right proxy details must be entered after each switch. Am I wrong? Can you connect to O2 mobile web using your o2 sim card, then switch to your orange sim and connect to orange world without making any change to the connections details?
Cheers
I think you will have to reenter the details each time.
However, if you're in the UK, there are cabs available on the board, or from Buymobilephones.net, with all the settings in one file.
So, switch to o2, click the cab and you're running. And likewise with Orange etc.
V
You can create all different accounts in the network section and just choose the right one you want to use. I have one SIM now, but several accounts for GPRS usage, MMS, dial-up connections etc. I just select the one I want to use in Settings-Connections-Advanced-Select Networks. The only problems that could exist are with sms and voice mail accounts, but I think these are stored in the network in combination with your sim card, so these should be ok as well.
that's great -thanks

Hi all,
In my previous phone (Nokia 6230) i placed a DualSIM card. Basically meaning that I could place 2 SIM cards in one phone. A menu option was created in the phone that allowed you to switch between the 2 sims without switching the phone on/off. Ideal since I have a business number and private number... I ordered this through mobile.brando.com.hk Attached you can find a description of this tool.
Now I have a Qtek 9100, (SIMlock removed thanks to a brilliant tool found on this forum) but can't get this DualSIM to work. Does anyone have experiences with a similar trick. I hate carrying 2 phones with me all the time, so i would really like to find a dualsim that also work with PDA's / Pocket PC etc. etc.
Any suggestions / remarks?
Many thanks!
I haven't looked at your attachment, but I've used a cut sim, basically the sim where you cut your full size sims into two small ones, and fit those into a "mother sim", and put that in your phone. It's worked fine on my Magician for months. Got it from ebay for about £5. I wrote my own line switcher for use with my Today plugin so I can see what operator I'm on.
Don't buy a sim cloner. If you're in Europe, you're likely to have a modern sim. They can't be cloned yet, as far as I know.
V
Hi V,
Strange because my dualsim is the same, I have cut the golden chips out, but it won't work on the wizard.... Wonder why?
Sounds cool that you can switch using the today screen, i think everybody that knows how to write programs is brilliant... Is this program posted somewhere?
Ciao!
Hello to all! The experience that I have carried out with Simclone to
have been OK! I have a super SIM with 5 numbers and can
change number/operator through the menu of STK.
Through the plugin "dktoday" I can visualize the active operator in that moment (Vodafone, TIM, etc)!
Ciao!
Maarten78: I've never tested my cut/dual sim in anything other then a wizard. But what messages are you getting? I had to carefully "thicken" the cut sim so the contacts all made good contact, but once I'd done that it worked perfectly for months.
My plugin, (VJAudioNotes, evolved into VJEphemeris) has not been released yet. It's written for my specific setup, so I couldn't release it right now for public use. But DKToday is great!
V
Thx guys,
After your comment about thickening the dualsim it seems to work... It only pushes the back cover out a little bit, but i'll find something to solve that i think...
All that i now need is a tool to display on the Today Screen which provider I'm on... Sure i'll find something, i've tried the DKToday but that crashes my phone when i start other programs like explorer or inbox... Strange!
Thx tho, Maarten
I'm wondering about something that is perhaps the opposite of what is being discussed here, which I wonder about by seeing the name "simclone".
If one has more than one GSM phone or device, yet only one GSM phone line, one has to switch the SIM card between devices, in order to switch which phone to use.
It would certainly be convenient to have a clone of the same card, to work on more than one phone. Of course, being the same phone line, both devices would not be used simultaneously. But it would be nice to be able to switch between devices, without swapping the card in and out.
I have heard that this is possible with some European carriers, to get an extra SIM card of the same line, to use in different devices. It isn't possible to do officially anywhere here in the USA however, AFAIK.
So---I'm wondering if it is possible to do this somehow unofficially. How does this simclone program work?
What is this about cutting a SIM card in two? Would this work with US T-Mobile SIM cards?
I've seen these dualsim on sale in a few places, but they stated that they don't work with 3G networks.
Would that include T-Mobile, O2 and Orange :?:

Woah! Cutting a SIM in half? As far as my vast intellect spans, I would imagine you would end up.....with....erm.....2 useless halves of a SIM that used to work?!?!
T-Mobile in the UK offer a Multi-Sim option for business customers of 10 handsets or more - multiple SIMs for same number, voice calls routed to unit of your choice...not sure about SMS Texts though :?
Hallo everybody.
I have a corporate sim without Internet traffic, so I would have a second private SIM card to use to surf Internet.
I was looking at Simore solution
http://www.simore.ch//en/mobile_phone_accessory/HTC/TOUCH.html
I have some doubt, because the SIM insertion space is very very tiny.
Someone has tested another solution yet? Thanks
Well, if you were to look at the installation guide video (bottom of each product page), you would see that, the dual sims method they are using is by trimming your existing sim for the job. Hence, you basically cut your existing SIM to almost 1/2 size of a normal SIM, and put it into the adapter, which is a standard SIM size, hence ought to work (with all phones, size matters). Howver, it is surprising that the smaller one cost less than the bigger version
Bought a 16th gen dualsim adapter, will review it when i have it.
I have it!
It's easy work to make your sims the size it's required to be. Just use a very sharp scissor as it will make the progress easier.
My Vodafone simcard works flawlessly, though my t-mobile simcard refuses to do anything. Might be because i cut it the wrong way / too far inside / or the t-mobile sims are just *****es.
Fitting in the slot isn't that big of a problem, getting it out it.
You need some patience to get it out, but once everything works flawlessly, you'll never need switch sims again.
Ill post images if people want to see it.

If you know dutch here's a shop that sells them.
http://www.dual-sim.nl/
and i have a (maybe not too elegant) solution for the issue of removing.
Cut a can in pieces, cola can, bullit can, whatever can.
then cut a piece to shape so that it firmly fits between the metal "housing/holder" and your sim cards, with a piece sticking out side of the housing next to the "stop". (see pictures for more explanation)
If you see it you'll understand what i mean.
I too have this issue... Will both of the phone numbers ring when inserted or do you have to make one the master and the other one redundant if you know what i mean? I have 2 business phone numbers - dont ask! - and i would love to have them both on my Elf.
I am sick of carrying 2 phones around and would love a all in one solution... Especially since my other phone is very close to dying at the moment!
no. you can't get both working at the same time. you'll have to switch on/off (e.g. flight mode) to switch between them. only one can work. there are, however, some phone from china that uses a dual-sim phone (a whole phone, their phone, not sim adapter) that, as according to them enable both sims to work at the same time. these china folks are gooood.
So you say that there's no problem to insert the metal case into the ELF Sim slot ? This is my major question, because I think that the tool is absolutely good, but I'm concerned about the room to insert it into an ELF sim'slot.
Thanks to all.

Hi Maseo, where did you purchase the dual sim adapter and do you think it will work on a TyTN2 ? Should it function with the DUALSIM TODAY software ?
Thanks !
i saw a simcard to which you can clone around 16 simcards, so you will have an additional menu where you can select which sim to use. you won't need to cut your sim - just a small usb-stick sized device which will read data and settings from your sim and will record it to the new simcard. you will still be able to use your original sim afterwards!
imho, this is a better solution. the only downside is that not all sims can be read.

I've heard about that. The previously mentioned dual-sim.nl has such a dual-sim adapter as well: http://www.dual-sim.nl/product_info.php/products_id/148 (the dutch version) and http://www.dual-sim.eu/product_info.php/products_id/137 for the English version.
Drawback is that only V1 simcards (the very old ones) can be used for this tool. Nonetheless, the card has a regular dual-sim function as well.
