Magician 128mb upgrade hardware Question!!! - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Some days ago i tried to replace memory chips in HTC Magician to increase memory to 128mb, but i had a problem.
After replacement the system has not seen full volume.... only 64mb
May be somebody know how to make it?

Upgrading RAM?

Okay, let's just say, in a completely theoretical question, does anyone know the hardware in these devices well enough to know if it's at all possible to upgrade RAM by replacing the stock chips with higher capacity chips? I'm just curious if the system would be set to a certain amount so that an increase wouldn't even be recognized, or if the chips were special in some sort of way that would prevent them from being swapped out or anything. The OS would certainly not care, but what about the actual hardware or system settings?
it all comes down to memorymap
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory-mapped_IO
if a nother address room for another addressable device
is places close to the address room of the mem then
it would overlap and not work at all
also one have to be pretty good with a solvering iron to solver these smd chips out
they were never ment to and is by no means solvered in by hand by the manufactor
this is possible on some devices (heared about HPs being upgraded), and impossible on others (like universal).
Yes, as mamaich said.
iPAQ Hx 4700 can be upgrade RAM to 128 MB by using iPAQ 5550 128 MB RAM on board.
Or using upgrade service http://www.the-gadgeteer.com/review..._to_128mb_internal_ram_upgrade_service_review
Interesting. Alright, thanks. I was just curious about the architecture of how the hardware worked in the devices. While I'm crazy enough to try such a thing (and fairly experienced in PCB work), I certainly have no intention of doing so until my device is past any type of warranty period. Even if I didn't screw anything up, I'd be screwed if anything else did screw up later.
The Dell Axim X50v and X51v (probably the non-vga versions also) can also be upgraded to 128mb RAM (vs 64mb stock).

XDA Orbit 2 - will these ROM's work

Hi
O2 are bringing out Orbit 2 in Jan:
http://shop.o2.co.uk/ComingSoon
Will I be able to use Artemis ROM's like Meschle & Tom's on this device?
HTC Touch Cruise clone.
The O2 January release looks a "HTC Touch Cruise" or "Polaris "clone, the new hardware has a 256Mb RAM size compared to the 128Mb RAM on the Artemis, also the ROM is double also (See below). So I guess a new set of cooked ROM's are needed for this new machine.
The spec's on the new machine are impressive.
There is a new section on XDA covering this new hardware http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=397
http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=159608
HTC Touch Cruise Features:
Operating System Microsoft® Windows Mobile® 6
Processor 400MHz
RAM 256MB ROM, 128MB RAM
GSM/GPRS Quad-Band EDGE/GPRS
3G/HSDPA Tri-Band
Bluetooth Yes
GPS Yes
Memory Slot MicroSD
Wi-Fi Yes
Artemis Memory:
- ROM: 128MB
- RAM: 64MB
HTC Cruise Memory
- ROM: 256MB
- RAM: 128MB
Hope this answers your question, and a very happy new year to all at XDA-Developers..

128MB RAM made by 4x 32MB chips

Hi,
I like to upgrade Universals to 128MB RAM.
Unfortunately I don't have access to 64MB rams usualy.
What I have a plenty of is: HYB25L256160AC and HYE25L256160AC 32MB ram chips which universal originaly contain.
There is a spare place for 4 RAM chips in universal, so why not to add these.
I haven't seen this discussed anywhere. I even don't know sure if the spare place is meant for RAM (but most probably).
I have very advance skills in BGA resoldering, so I'm able to experiment.
What I need is someone who understand it more and tell me first if it's possible to use 4 chips there and maybe someone know if there are some hardware updates in the pins around (short circuiting or resistor adding).
And don't hestitate to post some reply even if you are not sure if it's right....
I need some brainstorming here.
Regards,
Shef
I don't think that those 2 extra "brackets" are for RAM, because i think they are smaller than the ram module. But if they where for RAM there are a lot of missing components at the bottom, capacitors, resistors... (closer to the Flash Disk), probably i'm wrong, because the picture can induce in error... but it's just a opinion...

Actually, it should be for RAM. It's smaller, you are right.
But, the size fits the original 32MB chips and the connection pins are on the right place.
The white frame which tells where the edges of chip should be is the size of the rams - actualy the bigger frame on empty place is same big as small one on the original rams.
In the worst case for me, it seems that htc wasn't sure which memories will use so they prepared 4 frames for differend type of memories. In this case it's most probable that they can't cooperate with the other ones. But I bet it's just prepared for another 2.
Did the service manual say something about it?
And about missing parts...it's just a few, I can add them in a few minutes.
Shef
I agree with you about the diferent types of ram used by htc maybe the brackets are there for precaution. I know that's quite easy to solder the components, but the main problem is to know the exact values of the resistors and the capacitors and the right place... or not if they were in the datasheet of ram
free place near ram chips NOT FOR ADDITIONAL RAM CHIPS ..... its for NOR FLASH chips

Then you should look again more thoroughly - this has been discussed a few times on various threads re: 128MB RAM upgrade.

Again this was discussed a few times - these are not for RAM but for flash chips.

Upgrading device Memory HTC UNI

Guys,
Is there somebody can tell me where is the place who could upgrade device memory our Uni into 4-8 Gyga. And upgrade ram into 256 MHz?
Thanx..
You can buy an sd card up to 16gb acording to some members reported working well (Not sure about 32gb)
and for RAM, the more you can upgrade is to 128mb.
Have a look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=534476
Verbatim 32GB Class 6 works on my Universal / T-Mobile MDA pro with german Maxstegi 6.0 ROM.
Maxstegi uses SD-Settings coded by OllieD Version 3.0.
So all 32GB cards should work on all Universals using OllieD SD-settings.
A lot of thanks to Maxstegi and OllieD (and all other geniuses at xda-developers) for moving our Universals into the next decade.

rom with 192Mb RAM/// Why not?

Last many time but anybody and couldn't activate 32Мб RAM which locked in our devices. Why? If we had these 32Мб then it would be possible to use Sense 2,5 and windows 6,5. It is assured to that developer which will unlock RAM the people it will be grateful and will sacrifice some money
The reason that you cannot use all the ram is that 32mb is reserved for the graphics chip.
Edit: Sorry, etoy is right, my mistake, it is 64mb for the graphics chip

32 mb for a graphic chip, on a mobile device, is a lot
Maybe it would be nice to reduce this to 24mb or 16mb
i'm just guessing i don't really know if my suggestion makes sense, and if it's possible
from what i read from htc diamond details:
"Dedicated graphics chip (64MB RAM reserved for graphics)"
does the chip have its own 64 MB RAM or is it taken from the 192 MB RAM
HTC Touch Diamon have 256MB Ram (64 reserved for GFX) 192+64=256 same memory as HTC Touch Diamond CDMA P3051 have 256 ram and 256 rom (not gfx acceleration no 64mb reserved).
if 64Mb reserved for GFX, why we have not 32Mb RAM? can we resize memory for GFX?
after that you will buy another diamond!
Look here
Don't you think it would have been done already if it was a good idea or even possible? We are on the brink of getting android to work albeit with a 900(Meh) battery.
Even beter than the installed ROM in memory phone, rom be installed in internal storage (4GB) then it would be given a lot of free memory.
