O2 Xda IIS - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Please Help:
I purchased above set on 25-01-05 and suddenly on 22-03-05, while talking I found that the telephone part of the mobile pc is frozen. I did soft/hard reset but to no avail. The telephone menu does not come up and even the storage card does not "Restore". I referred the matter to O2 Help Desk and they say that since the set is not in warranty, therefore they want to charge INR 20,000 (approx US$ 450). They would change the mother board and give a warranty of 3 months. I find their charges too steep.
Is there any way that I can get the phone part working. Please help!

Vodafone on XDA 2 Cannot make calls but says unlocked

Hi XDA developers,
Tnaks for all your help ! where would I be without you!.
I have got an XDA2 from ebay, when I got it I was told that it was unlocked, as my company uses vodafone I wanted to run the phone on that. I put the SIM in and vodafone comes up on the display, text messages can be sent and your unlock software says the phone is unlocked.
BUT, I cannot make calls, when I dial the number it simply beeps three times and then ends the call, when I try and ring the number it also will not connect ... please please help, ive contacted the seller and he says that it worked fine on O2, I havent tried a O2 Sim but is the phone faulty or is it a problem someone else has encountered with these devices !
Your urgent help would be gratefully apreciated. Thanks James
This is probably a blocked phone, it is either stolen or been subject to an insurance claim whereby the company has written it off and blocked the imei to prevent further use of the phone. It will work abroad as the imei will not be blocked in other countries. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news my friend.
Thankyou
Thanks for the response, I think you are correct.. What I think has happened is the person I got it off had a new XDA2i and I believe that this had been got from his insurance company.
Can you confirm that XDA's work with vodafone ! I know they do, and I will have to sell this to someone from ebay.com so they can use it in there country.
thanks and all the best
James
I'd see if I could borrow someones O2 sim before thinking getting rid. You might find it just doesn't like your Voda sim.
I don't think it has an imei bar as it wouldn't pick up a network and you certainly couldn't use sms on it.
JD
Imei bar does not prevent signal reception on some networks, it just doesnt allow access to the network. And yes it would be a good idea to try another sim, however it does display symptoms of a blocked phone.
I have an XDA II. I bought unlocked from Ebay some months ago. Originally I was using a T-mobile sim, which worked really fine, with good strong signal all the time. But when the contract ran out I decided to go with Vodafone. It was a wrong decision. The signal with the XDA II is crap, even though the same sim get about a 70% signal in my other phone, a Nokia 6310i. I get the same 3 beeps and no call.
If I goto to other places the signal improves but it's never 100%. I can make and take calls and SMS messages, but cannot set it up for MMS messages. Vodafone say they cant help me because they dont have any XDA phones and dont know the setting to input.
My conclusion is that Vodafone and XDA's dont work well together. I can only assume that the arial in the XDA II is more in tune with other networks like T-mobile.
UNLOCK MY XDA2
Well i got a link from here to Unlock my XDA2 from 02 to orange and it has worked ok thank you so much for the person for downloading the link all the best antony
The person posting the question has no problem with signal, it registers fine, he gets 3 beeps when he dials, then it hangs up, I would like to know the outcome because I am 90% sure it is blocked, however I would be delighted if proved wrong as the guy will then be able to use his phone.
Bad news
Hi, Thanks for your concern, and yes I did try and unlcok the XDA from your site, and aI also did a ROM up-date.
I have now tried the XDA with an O2 Sim and like we thought its totaly dead, not even a signal on this network...
Luckily, I have had a lot of interest from outside the UK, and hopefully will make a small amount of profit from selling the item on.... but unfortunatly the guy who sold it me wont respond to my e-mails!... I could contact his insurance company and advise them as to what he has done... but to be honest is it worth all the problems that comes with it!, as as usual I the victim will probably come off worse!.. so can anyone else tell me there views of the vodafone network and if I should try again with an XDA 2 that works in the UK!, let this be a warning to everyone to chheck the IMEI with O2 before they buy a second hand XDA!... thanks once again!
Vodafone is fine with xda 2, for value on payg you cant beat tesco, its 20p across networks but you can choose 3 numbers and you get to call those at 10p per minute and half price sms. O2 payg gives you 300 sms free for a tenner topup and free wap access over gprs. So according to your usage just take your pick. Sorry to hear the phone was blocked, I had it 3 seperate times with xda 1 phones, most of the time the person who made the insurance claim isnt aware of the fact the the imei is barred after being written off. The insurance companies could address this by demanding the damaged phone before paying up.
Thanks
Thanks for your help, ive now got rid of the dodgy XDA to france (hope to god it works there), ive got another of ebay for £160 and double checked its not IMEI blocked... and paid by paypal so I dont get stung again.
I use vodafone as its my corporate SIM, e.g they pay for all usage and private calls are really cheap... but I cant use GPRS ! YET!..
THanks all anyway ! alls well that ends well as they say
Nice one, and yes it will work in France.

Xda orbit voice key faulty !!!!

Hi
I have an O2 XDA ORBIT and when I switch it on it keep on going to the splashscreen and volume keys is downwards and stuck there. I tried resetting the device but it made no difference.
I took it to a mobile repair shop and told me I need to replace the voice control key as it is faulty and that is why it keeps on being stuck there.
Any ideas where i can find this part online or could be another reason for the fault here.
Thanks
Can be fixed !!!
I have an XDA orbit with the same problem!! it can be repaired easily and should not take more than 1-2 hours max to get it fixed. The best price to repair it is approx 20 (GBP) in London, UK. If you are local I can tell you where to go.

loose connection

Hi. I just got my phone back from being repaired (faulting "n" key). I've noticed that when I have it connected to the comp that if I move it the connection is lost/resets (well, it tries to reset but kinda freezes mobile device center). Is it normal for the usb connection to be so loose? And yes, I am using the HTC extUSB cable.
Please, I hope you guys can help me with this because last time I went 3 weeks without it. I can't even remember if the problem existed before. I didn't even have the phone for 5 days before I took it back to be fixed. I hope not to have to take it back but it all depends on if this is normal or not.
Hola,
No, it´s not normal that behavior at all, it should be very smooth with WMDC
I am sure you already tried a hard reset right?
by the way, where you got your TP2 in Mexico and how much you pay for it?
Saludos,
Sorry it took so long to respond. Wanted to verify, etc. I have absolutely no idea what it happened and still looking into it.
And as for where I got it I got it through a local business called Ibushak. I found them on Mercadolibre (for those reading not from Mex it's the Latin American extension of ebay). I liked the fact that they were in the city as it always makes me feel more comfortable but they were horrible service. While they had the phone the screen was scratched and there seem to be personal calls and an sms whilst it was supposedly in warranty, supposedly in the country of origin. I paid like 670US or 590 plus tax (9500 pesos). Not too bad considering what it would have cost to import (tax plus shipping) and I do prefer it to the US versiosn I've seen except maybe the AT&T one (though I love the Telus one and kinda like the Verizon).

Need help! desire always rebooting. warranty

I'll try to explain as best as possible. Im from portugal and i bought my desire (second hand) in ebay uk in february. When i recieved the phone I opened the box and I saw that there wasnt a invoice, not from the purchase between me and the seller but between the seller and the store where she purchased but also do not know if it was mandatory to include and also the thing that was least bothered at the time.
The phone came branded to t-mobile but i s-off and rooted, so it was not a problem.
The problem is that a few months back here the phone starts to reboot itself. I had to take the battery to stop. But starting from yesterday has worsened a lot, anything I do, the phone restarts and does nothing but this, sometimes he even starts but after entering the PIN, it restarts again. I know its a hardware problem more precisely the motherboard, right?
Already contacted the support of HTC in my country but they tell me to go to the store where purchased, and then they send it for repair. And this is a big problem because as you know I live in Portugal and I can not go to the store where the phone was purchased. Then they told me that I could send to the repair center in my country, out of warranty. Once i have investigated further the identity repairs in Portugal, I saw lots of complaints services, such as unresolved issues, products that come worse than when they were, high prices, etc. Anyway, I better not try their services.
The only solution is to buy another mobile phone, or is there a light at the end of the tunnel? I love this phone and I do not like the idea of having to buy another much more cheaper because I can not buy an equal or similar at the moment. And I'll be very frustrated when using it, after having the experience of using a Desire.
Thank you.
P.S: btw, who does the repairs in Portugal is the Arvato Services.
Anyone?....
try cyanogenmod - it's a faultless ROM.
If the issue persists then you may send it in for repair since I doubt there's anything else for it.
Sounds like the problem I had with my first Desire. It finally was a hardware problem and I got it replaced via my warranty.
In the first couple of weeks everything was fine but then it became really instable and rebooted in loops. Sometimes it run flawless for some hours and then again rebootet and rebootet. Partially even while booting, it restartet again. It became unusable and I had to send it in. Sorry to tell you that.
It was checked and replaced by Arvato Germany
