should i install all the programs again after hard formating despite the fact that i used to install them on MMC, i don't find them again after formating any solution?
I would clear out my MMC card and re-install. Things like the registry & environment etc will have been lost during the hard reset

Sorry if this has been told somewhere else. I suppose it has, but I've tried to find something for several days without any luck. Anyway, can anyone tell me exactly what's the purpose/benefit of an Flash Disk is. What's the difference of installing programs to the main memory or the Flash Disk. Dosn't the flash disk just use som of the phones memory. Or is it a special place in ROM. Same goes for the Storage folder.
Thanks in advance from a novice
I can see you have a JasJar which is a WM 5 phone.
It uses flash memory for OS, and storage and that memory has several partitions:
ROM - the OS part which only update utilities can write to.
Extended ROM - a hidden partition not erased by hard reset where cell companies store their customization.
Storage - the partition you can use for files and apps which is erased by hard reset.
Now to my knowledge JasJar does not have a 'flash disk' partition, but on any device that does it acts like the ext ROM only not hidden.
Basically you can put stuff there you do not want erased during hard reset.
Ok I have been seeing so many posts latley about low space issues and sd and emmc not mounting, but I never had the issue till today. However After some digging I managed to fix my problem without having to wipe my phone or revert to stock. I believe everyones issues may be linked to their ext2/3/4 partitions. I use link2sd and after a reboot I noticed my linked apps were not loaded, so I opened link2sd and it said there were no apps linked. So I decided to reboot and when it reloaded all my linked apps were back but all of a sudden in the notification bar i see the low space icon. So I decide to unlink all of my apps and uninstall link2sd, and do a dalvik and cache partition wipe along with a fix permissions. Apon reboot I still recieve the low space warning, so I decide to go back to recovery and format the sd-ext, only it errors and quits without formating. So i reboot and get the low space warning again along with my sdcard and emmc not mounting or readable. So heres what I did.
I powered off my phone removed the sdcard and placed it in my pc. I tried to save the files on my sd but windows could not read it either. So i used "G-Parted" (google it - awesome program) to remove both the fat32 and ext3 partitions on my sdcard and then create new ones. I placed the sdcard back in my phone booted up and all issues are fixed, no low space warning and my sd and emmc were back to normal.
A lot of people kind of forget about the ext partitions when trying to solve issues. I believe a corrupted sd ext may be the root of everyones low space and mounting problems. Even if it seems as if its working correctly there still may be a bad block messing everything up. A lot of people dont realize that formating your sd with windows does not format or remove your ext partition.
I may be wrong but it fixed both of my issues and i hope it fixes everyone elses too. Hey its worth a shot right.
It may be definitely worth a shot. I haven't been able to mount emmc since just before I used Link2SD to create an ext3 partition (it happened with a kernel update while I was still on Nils' Business Gingersense 2.1/3.0 mix.)
I *haven't* been getting low memory messages, however, in part because I make extensive use of NotEnoughSpace's ability to move stuff out of \data\data.
However, now when I mount to PC, the PC sees the emmc as a drive letter but can't populate it. I had followed the instructions on xda here but, while that does give me amazing functionality, it doesn't restore the emmc mount (nor would I expect it to).
I'd be reluctant to wipe my sd card, but the fact is I have always had a "spare" sd card which I use synctoy to keep current with my "phone" sd card. The only difference is that the "spare" doesn't have the ext3 partition, and, interestingly, even when I boot up with that card instead of the one with the ext3 partition, I still can't get emmc to mount to PC.
Would be interested in any other ideas.
As the title suggests my SD card (Sandisk class 6 16GB) has been acting up as of late. Apps frequently crash en masse (Using Sandvold's ICS rom with A2SDX). When I put a new rom onto the root of the SD card and delete 0.16.1 (since it's broken), the new rom remains when flicking through windows on my desktop but when I enter recovery, the new rom (and any new folders I make- Which as soon as I make on the desktop and click to go into them, they're full of gibberish files and folders which when clicked spark up "Can't be opened" errors) disappear and 0.16.1 has reappeared (As if I hadn't touched the SD card at all). I try and counter the mass app crashing by restoring a previous backup but when it reaches "Restoring SD-ext" it brings up "Error while formatting /SD-ext" (But strangely rom installations flash to SD-Ext just fine without an error) (I'm using 4EXT recovery). Strangely the backup acts fine even with this error (but around every 3 days after a restore or update of apps, they crash again). If I try and format the Fat32 partition on Windows 7, regardless of a quick format or slow one, it always comes back with "unable to format" (This error occurs with both third party programs and window's Disk manager/explorer).
Is this a sign my SD card is dead/dying or is it just a fluke and can be fixed?
Any help is appreciated.
Try partitioning and formatting with 4ext. It is supposed to be stable. But all roads finally lead to gparted which is the standard linux tool. There is a guide in my signature.
like handy says use 4ext recovery. Make ur sdcard all fat32. in recovery go to
tools/partition sdcard/ remove all partitions and start from scratch/
skip
skip
skip
this will make sdcard fat 32
then in tools format sdcard (twice)
this will definitly wipe it clean. then partition ur sdcard to whatever ROM requires. this should sort out sdcard. try installing ur rom without restoring any backup coz ur backup could also be the problem.
PS: try another rom, not ICS :sly:

Tried formatting using 4EXT. Strangely it tells me the format was a success but files etc are still on the card. Tried Gparted and it seems to remove the Ext 4 partition and format the entire card but when it reloads the drives, the partition is back and so are my files. It seems there's no means to actually format it.
Just buy a new card, it is cheap
So i cannot update or install any apps even with 4gb left in phone storage. It is the second that this happens to me and both times after moving some big games with folder mount to sd card. How can solve this? First time i reinstall the rom(stock 108) with wipe, not i tried the same without wipe and it didn't help, obviously i don't want to wipe and want to find a solution.
Why did it happened when mounting some games? I did move them to sdcard1/Android/obb anything has to do with that?
Please help
I have rooted phones for years and am currently on a debloated Verizon LG v30 vs99630c rom. In all these years, all of my "clean" wipes have constituted of a factory reset and/or a cache, dalvik, system and data wipe. I have never done an internal storage wipe of my phone. I am wondering exactly what happens if I do an internal storage wipe either by itself or with the clean wipe. Does that wipe my external SD card (should I remove it before wiping?) Does it do anything to my sim card (I have never removed it)?
Would I have an operating system (vs99630c?) on my phone or in twrp to install? Would I still be rooted? I would like to start with a clean phone with zero on it (except the debloated rom).
Or is a factory reset and my Google sign on the same thing? I did do a clean factory reset yesterday, but not an internal storage wipe, but would kind of like to, as long as I still have my Verizon phone and root.
All of this would need to be done only on my phone and in twrp, NOT connected to a computer.
Thx, for any help, advice, answers and suggestions.
Please make them, if any, in a dummies sort of way.

Look at WTF Section 6, Step 7a, 7f, 7g. Yes it's written for installing TWRP, but those three steps are what you're asking about. See attached screenshot.
7a is factory reset. You've done that several times.
7f is where you reformat your internal memory, where you type YES. (Then, Step 7g is just reloading TWRP from within TWRP, to refresh it.)
BUT, you do NOTwant to wipe out your OS. That's a step too far. Some people have done that. And in those cases they had to reinstall their OS through a zip file, as well as disable checker and disable encryption. They did this, either by dragging files over from PC (while still in TWRP, like a flash drive) OR by already having those files on microSD card. microSD card is not touched, either thorough proper data reformat or by accidentally destroying the Android OS.
If you completely wipe internal memory the wrong way, then you will need those three files on a microSD card -- or by connecting to a PC to drag them over -- so you can reinstall them.
But if you do it the right way, then you will not need those files. You will still have your OS but just with reformatted data. Which is a more thorough than normal factory reset. That's why factory reset is 7a, but reformatting data is 7f.
When you install TWRP, you have to do them both. Your TWRP is already installed, you're just going to revisit those two steps to have a very clean phone.
NOTE:. after doing this you will still need to re-flash Magisk, of course. So best to have that on microSD card, also!
Good luck!
