I reset my XDA IIs with Corporate code and I lost the O2 themes and files for Today screen and the phone interface.
Where could I found these files ?
Thank you in advance.
Vince
I would like to know how to do this too.....
Also i want the nice little battery monitor to appear on my front screen again, anyone got any ideas?
The theme is a .TSK file in the windows directory only installed if you use the Personal settings during the Ext rom installation following a hard reset.
What I did was this.
Performed a hard reset and installed a personal edition of Active.
Searched the WIndows folder for the O2 theme .tsk file and copied it to storage. I also copied all the GIF files from the windows directory up to storage also so I could use the O2 phone skin which continues the theme.
I then hard reset again this time using corporate (passcode 0506) and then copied the files out of storage - I am sure someone could make a cab but I am not that switched on.
The battery application is part of the O2 active app and can only be installed as part of the personal user.
There are plenty of battery apps out there though.
Cool, ill give that a go... Thanks
I like the o2 battery thingy, im sure theres away..... Anyone???
there is a cool program called flashdash, this works perfectly, and its free for 30 days until i find a *cough*crack*cough* for it.... but not only it has animated themes but battery indicator and also memory indicator too, oh and my fave a fish tank, yay!!! 8)
search google for it and have a go, if you dont like then uninstall....
any got gif themes
hi all

O2 Power icon
If you install the O2 Active interface and backup the file \windows\batteryinfo.dll (need a tool like Resco File Explorer to see it)
After Reset and installation using the corporate code, copy the file to the \WIndows directory and use a registry editory (such as PHM Regedit) to update the following:
HKLM\software\microsoft\today\items
Create a key called Power and create the followin subkeys and set to the corrospnding values under Power:
DLL = batteryinfo.dll
Enabled = 1
Flags = 0
Options = 0
Order = 4
Selectability = 1
Type = 4
You should now be able to go to the settings today tab and enable

Guys, I (by accident) found a way to manipulate the entire \Windows folder entirely:
HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies
Values:
0001001 from 2 to 1
and 0001005 from 16 to 40
(like the application unlock)
the consequence is all the folders are unlocked for editing, i.e. you can delete anything from the Windows folder, and can rearrange the entire Start Menu as you like!!

Nice find!
Awesome! But this is going to initiate Biggest Security attacks! Imagine a software could apply these tweaks and start deleting your Windows folder? A perfect VIRUS?

Didn't work for me. I tried to delete the fexplore.lnk file and it wouldnt let me.
try to rewrite some other file (naturally the files in ROM cannot be deleted)
e.g. I can edit an rewrite eT9 kmap on the fly in the Word Mobile, or replace start menu background image..
or even the Model Name file to output: HTC Advantage in System Information
but you've always been able to overwrite rom files with replacements which hide the rom file.
btw use this power toy for turning security off its much easier:

This is only for the WM6 ?

Everyone,
I am not sure if this has been created or not but since many have asked me about my theme, I thought I would compile a quick tutorial on creating a matching, dazzling theme that will include the load screen, Today screen, Dialer and Comm Manager (optional Slide2Unlock). As time goes on, I would like to add to this and make it a complete tutorial.
Please keep in mind that for those who operate on different carriers, phones, and software, you will likely have slightly different variations: Sprint users often have animated startups. Some Comm Managers will vary in style but most most of the file names will likely be the same. Hopefully this How-To will also help you get started off in the right direction in case your particular application is not discussed or found here...
First you will need several programs and I will provide links to all of them below. But before we begin cutting, pasting and installing, always makes ure to save backups of all original files to be modified to a folder on your device or PC that is well labeled so that all of these original files can be re-installed. Soft resetting will alsom enable just about all of the changes you make and should be seen in the next boot-up.
The programs...
1. Activesync - PC-loaded program necessary for transfering the files to and from your PC & PDA.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...ivesync45.mspx
2. ThemeGenCE - PC-loaded program that will allow you to create a Today theme and either load from or to your PDA.
http://www.freewareppc.com/misc/themegence.shtml
3. RCMod - PPC application for modifying the text, top & bottom bars on your PDA.
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/rcmod.shtml
4. M$ Paint program or equivelant. A design program that can be used to create ot modify pictures, etc. I use Paint or you can use this...
http://www.getpaint.net/
5. Tiermann's Dialer Skinning Tool - Terrific PC-loaded program for creating all kinds of dialer skins for your device. Many thanks to Tiermann for the great app!
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...ht=dialer+skin
We will start with the start up screen...
In my PPC \windows directory is a file called Welcomehead.96.png. This is one of the start-up screens that I will modify. Create a 240 x 320 pixel non-animated image, save it as a .png and name it Welcomehead.96.png. (Note, create ALL images, files, etc and remove any read-only, archive properties, etc) Now place this new image in the \My Device directory on your phone. Using a PPC resource tool such as Total Commander, SKTools, etc, copy the your new image from the \My Device\welcomhead.96.png location to the \Windows location. You will recieve a prompt asking if you want to continue overwriting the existing. Click yes. This part is now complete.
Now for the Today Screen...
Create a theme using ThemGenCE. It will take some time using the program before you understand the full capabilities of this program but the rewards later are very satisfying. The utilities in this app are straight forward and loading to & from your device will become a snap. Again, I create a base background using a paint program and load it through ThemGenCe where it can be further manipulated.
Once you have a theme designed and loaded to your device, it's time to get that matching task bars and text to match. With RCMod installed on your PPC device, click on the options you want and highlight your color preference.
Optional...
If you have the Slide2Unlock program installed on your device, create (2) 240 x 320 pictures; one in portrait and one in landscape. Save both as jpgs. Name the portrait: wallpaper.jpg and the landscape: wallpaperL.jpg. Delete the (2) existing images in the \My Device\Program Files\S2U2\gfx folder place your new ones here. Optional clocks can be installed in \My Device\Program Files\S2U2\clocks folder and aptly renamed so that the Slide2Unlock app recognizes them. Soft reset once complete.
Now for the dialer...
Using Tiermann's program on your PC, load a background image and create both a portrait & landscape dialer theme. A little tweaking & experimenting will yield fantastic results as Tiermann's program is option-laden. Once you have created your theme, save it and the program will package your theme into a .cab files which you install just like any .cab. It save the .cab files to the desktop on my PC. Install on your device and soft reset.
And lastly, the Comm Manager...
The Comm Manager will have to be designed manually... that is there are no programs for easily computing a end result which can be easily installed. However, the files (at least on my device) are easily obtainable.
In the \Windows directory, locate and save to your PC using activesync these files:
L_BG - landscape background of your Comm Manager
P_BG - portrait background of your Comm Manager
Status_On - icon indicating the on status
Status_On_Disable - icon indicating status not used
Status_Off - icon indicating off status
Status_Off_Disable - icon indicating status not used
Again, using the trusty and durable paint program of choice, modify these .png images to your liking. Remember to save whatever you create to .png files and rename so that it will overwrite the existing. Overwrite the older with the newer using Total Commander or simply use Activesync and drop the new files over the older ones.
Finished...
You should now have 4-5 screens from startup to operation that express your favorite team, hobby, passion & liking that is seen on just about every screen. The more you tweak, install, remove and repeat, the more masterful you will become in creating a truly unique and thorough theme. This was done on a Alltel PPC-6800 running WM6 but I think this will work on many devices running both WM5 & 6. Please post results & comments here.
Everyone:
Please help to make this as complete as possible. I will update this as my own experiences grow but I would like much to recieve everyone's participation to make this as complete as possible. I will try to add some pictures later. Many thanks to everyone here and at PPCGeeks for their time & support and I hope this will provide others out there a good starting point...
i dont get it
i made a theme but i cant figure out how to get it on my phone
when i drag the two files to the phone, and click on them it saysthere is no application associated with "(theme name)" run app first then open within app
I apologize if this is the wrong location for this question. Please move if it is.
I am looking to see if anyone has yet created a CAB file that would modify the File Locations as detailed in the WM5_Tweaks_Other Wiki.
I'm interested in the following tweaks:
Change the location of My Documents
Change the location of email and attachments
Change the location of temporary internet files
The reason I'm asking for a CAB file is so that I can change these automatically when I burn a new ROM without having to install a registry editor each time and make all those registry changes. It's getting old to have to modify those each and every time.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Greg
As it is only changing keys in the registry, it can be done with a cabfile.
The trial of WinCE CAB Manager can do that.
Dude use Schaps_AdvancedConfig, It has those options plus MANY more.

Actually it doesn't seem to have all of those. I tried 2.02.1.0. It allows you to change the location of the IE cache and temporary files, but it does not allow you to change "My documents", and it does not allow you to change the location of email and attachments. At least not that I can find.
Maybe I'm blind and not seeing those though. Can you point them out for me please?
Thanks!
Greg
Advanced Config, 1 or 2, is a wonderful tool, but if you make a cab file that takes care of your own preferences all in one go, including ones Adv Config doesn't cover (it can't cover everything) thenit's a good idea.
I did the same thing with an xml file rather than a cab a while ago. All I actually did was edit the pre-existing orange xml file that set up my network connections.
Might be easier than creating a cab as requires no tools but Notepad.
write all the registry tweaks into one single text file, save it as <whatever>.reg and install dotfred's task manager (which is a single exe-file).
this taskmanager can easily imoprt reg-files.
if you need a template for the reg-file's syntax use dotfred's task manager to export the required reg-keys...
Final Result
I have decided to go with the CAB file. It was a BREEZE! And the resulting CAB file is less than 3k, and take just a second to install. In case anyone is interested in it, I am attaching it here. Feel free to request anything in addition as I can add registry entries very easily.
All this small CAB does is set "My Documents" to be on your storage card, and set email and email attachments to your storage card. 3 registry keys added. Nothing more.
Enjoy.
hey guys, after miri's recent v19 rom release, i've got to the point where manually reinstalling stuff is getting more of a chore than a pleasure, so i've been playing around with sdconfig.txt and self-built .cab files...
however, there are some things i cant configure due to them being in the registry.
so far this is what ive done:
- used 'CeRegEditor' to capture the active registry (both stock rom, and fully configured the way i want it to be)
- compared the 2 files, and saved the output to another file
- copied this file (i've tried both .cereg, and .reg formats) to sd card, and attempted to run. when executed from my HD, the file format is unrecognised and will not import the registry values.
so, what have i missed? why wont a .cereg or .reg file 'install' on my HD?
the idea is to have this registry file in the sdconfig.txt (or a cab, and exec'd from sdconfig.txt), so on hard reset it is a completely 'hands-off' re-install.
Create a Cab file. You can create Cab files that only install registry settings. Take the '2_Way_Plus_InCall_Recording' cab file and build upon that maybe. Edit the '_Setup.xml' to include your registry settings and then you can install them just as you would install a Cab file.
How many registry setting do you want to change?
.reg file is 260 line file - 25kb.
while there seems to be a limit on what the registry is holding, it is configuring some of the more simplier and silly things...
- Device name
- Owner info
- Manila Weather
- power settings
- 'changescreen' app settings (app found on these forums)
- 'HD tweak' app settings (again, found on these forums)
at this point in time, it's more of a proof of concept, rather than finalized version. now i know how to get things working, i can fine tune the reg settings and provision my phone.
it seems 'ceregedit' does not correctly convert reg > XML (or reg > CAB).
however, i found another tool called 'SDConfigGen', which does correctly convert reg > XML. i've been able to use the XML in my sdconfig.txt, which is what i wanted!
while the above reg keys work, it's not an exact build of how i had my phone before...
there are some things i would like to automatically configure:
- pre-configured Wifi profiles (theres maybe 4 AP's i use)
- automatically set 'touchflo 3d' as the default theme.
- a complete hands-off install. (things like pre-setup the HTC auto-configure "sim card change")
- automatically accept a security certificate from our activesync server (i have activesync config in a .cab file, but it requires you to manually click 'yes' to the security cert install box)
im sure a google will help with a few points above!
Ok I'm not sure if you program at all or if this would really easy your pain much but you can download a trial version of Visual Studio 2008. It has a project option to build cab files for ppc devices. Might be worth a look if you have a lot of keys to do. Its not much better than doing them by hand though. I've included a screen shot of VS doing it so you can see. BTW its obviously been scrunched up.
Try this

I used this to do what your trying to do, it will not import .reg files on the trial version but theres an older version on piratebay that will:

SDConfig Builder
Hi,
try SDConfig Builder
I'm running the stock ROM (with a few cabs installed) and just got my internet working the way I like it. The issue I have is that when I launch the internet browser from the TF3D internet icon it will always default to att.net, even after changing the homepage within IE. Is there a way to change the default page for this?
Thanks in advance!
Anyone have an suggestions/comments on this?
Re: Internet link/icon/homepage
Sounds like something in the registry that defaults it all the time. If you have Total Commander or PHMEdit (or any other registry editor), you might have some luck in locating the persistent URL.
(steps on Soapbox) I'll never understand why the Death Star company insists on both bloatware and total domination of your phone settings...(steps off)

My TP2 is from Sprint, and it comes stock with IE mobile, of course, but when launching internet through TF3D, it's actually launching Opera Mobile. Don't know if it's the same in your case, but if it is, you'd have to change your homepage in Opera settings. Hope this helps.
This has been described previously. You need to edit an XML file.
1. Use Resco Explorer or Total Commander on your phone and navigate to Application Data/Manila/InternetPortal-en-US.XML
2.Copy the XML file to your Storage Card
3. Transfer file to your computer
4. Hold down right mouse key and click on properties and un-tick the attribute read only,
5. Use notepad to open the XML file and change the entry NavigateURL=att.net to whatever you want.
6. Save the file and change attribute back to read only
7. Put back in your Storage Card and then move to Application Data/Manila on your phone.
8. Reset your phone.
