Power Button - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hi,
There is no way to remap the main power button and execute a program like XdaIIShutdown ?
Thanks Luca

Same here...can it be done? (and yes I have used search!!)

I believe it can be done, it requires intercepting keypresses at a very low level and reassigning. It would require a new, resident app. PQz could possibly be made to take this into account, perhaps ask the author?
On an unrelated note, has anyone ever tried VJEschaton's power off feature? I may have put everyone off the idea, but I'd like to know if anyone else has had success with it?

Lock single buttons

Hi,
I've been looking for an application that would enable you to select which buttons should be locked when the device is off. Right now, the only options are "none" or "all but the power button".
I'd like to lock all the hardware buttons except the "record" key (which I have mapped to MS Voice Command). That one isn't easily pressed by accident, so it wouldn't turn my device on all the time and waste battery life, and I'd be able to start MS VC without pressing the power button first.
Any ideas?
Don't want to be pushy but... *bump*!
Anyone heard of an application that does this? Or any developers interested in making one? I'm thinking... Vijay?
I think it could possibly be done, using a low level keyboard driver hack, but I'm thinking it'd be a little bit messy to program right now, I've got a few other things to finish first.
I'll try to test some ideas, but can't promise to release anything very soon

Hey, thanks for your reply! You don't have to promise anything... I was just trying to inspire you. But you have to admit it would be a useful app!

Detecting S pen side button

I'm on a mission to detect when a S pen button is pressed. I hope someone with more knowledge will help me.
So what I want to do is make S-pen button trigger something that apps can read (so I could use this with emulators for example).
What I have figured so far:
Freezing FlashAnnotate, SuggestionService and Mini S Note will disable existing side button functionality, so it is not in a way if you would use button for another purpose
Pen will send BTN_STYLUS event to the kernel
E-PEN Side ON (or something like that) shows up in system log (dmesg)
My current idea is to make a background service that will keep reading system log and trigger key events.
But there must be another way?

[Q] Changing app that launches with volume keys...

Hi there -
Just got an LG G3 a few days ago and am enjoying the process of getting acquainted with it. One of the features that I really like is the ability to quickly launch the camera or the quick memo when the phone is off by long pressing the volume down or volume up buttons. The camera one is handy, but I'd love to change the other one to something other than the quick memo.
Was wondering if by chance someone might have developed a fix that would allow you to change the app that launches when long pressing the volume up and/or down. I'm guessing that I can't be the only person who's had this thought -- hopefully someone's thought of this who actually knows enough to make it happen.
Thanks!

I use G3 Tweakbox (in the Play Store). It lets you customize just about anything on the phone. You have to be rooted for it to work.

[Q] How long press to switch track?

Hi guys how do I use long press to switch track with phone/headset volume buttons? I have turned on the setting in PowerAmp but the phone only changes the volume..?
If someone knows how to please let me know, thanks.
I'm trying to do the same... I have root but don't know the best way to enable long press to skip tracks. Any ideas?
Still no solution?
It is hard to believe such a basic thingis not possible and noome seems to care

How to disable Bixby completely?

I have turned off the Bixby button and Bixby voice but this doesn't turn off Bixby. If I press the button twice, which is very easy to do by accident, it's right back talking to me.
I'd like top get rid of it completely, and remap the button. Do I need to root my phone to do this? I just got it yesterday. I hate Bixby so much, I'm thinking about returning it.
Why can't I disable any of the Samsung bloatware? This seems so wrong.
Thanks for any guidance you can give me.

Why would Samsung make it easy to disable their own software that they went to the extreme lengths of adding a physical button to use it with?
well said
Good point!
Wow, if that works, it's made for me. Thanks so much!!
It worked! Hooray!!!!
How about an app to remap that button? Can you recommend anything?
BxActions can do exactly that

Search is your friend, you should try it sometimes.
I did a search before I asked the question, of course. There are problems with bxActions. You have to disable only part of Bixby, and then it flashes Bixby for a moment before moving onto do the alternative action. This doesn't work for me. I don't like the lag and I don't like the flash. I'd rather kill Bixby entirely. I was hoping there was a different kind of solution.
I prefer no Bixby at all, and using the button for something else isn't that important. In fact, it's so easy to press by accident because of it's poor placement, maybe it's best that it's disabled.
I came so close to having a good experience here - almost made it through without getting insulted by someone.
I leave my Bixby button disabled completely for the same reasons, terrible location (likely on purpose) and I don't need another button for anything anyway
