Now I have a working M2000 and a 1gig SD card, I'd like to move My Docs onto the card, so I can boost the internal memory for programs.
I've created a folder on the card and removed the "ignore my docs" file, as well as resetting (I think) every program to save to the card ... but ... how do I (assuming I can) get ActiveSync to forget the old directory and syncronise files with the new folder on the storage card?
Thanks.

hi i got the copilot on a 256mb micro card
how can i transfer thsi onto a 2gb card..wihtout losing nothing.. i installed the copilot already so dont intend to lose any info
but require a 2gb becasue i need more spcae on the card.
Simply use a card reader to transfer the contents of the supplied card to the PC, then back to the new larger card.
Make sure in Windows Explorer you go to tools/ Folder Options select the View tab and make sue the following selections are made:
Show Hidden files and folders is checked
hide extensions for known file types in NOT checked
do this before copying the data to the PC and back to the card - Mike
Hi,
So I read the instruction about formatting SD Card to run Froyo X. If I have a gps app on storage card for windows mobile, should I buy another SD card to run Android or do I need to create a partition for windows storage card for apps and another partition for Android? I have a 8gb kingston micro sd at the moment. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!!
I have iGO as well a sa bunch of WM apps installed to my SD card as well. Here is what I do, works like a charm every time, all WM6 apps still function...
Delete ANDBOOT folder on the card
I just create an empty folder on my PC called "SD"
Go to the root of the card, select all, CUT
PASTE on the pc folder called "SD"
When the move is finished, I do a full format using the SD Formatter tool:
http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter_3
Put the new ANDBOOT on the card
Cut/Paste the "SD" folder from the PC back to the card
I did the same, worked for me also.
So here's what I did:
- Samsung Galaxy Note 2 with an old 2GB microSD card, bought new 32GB micro SD card as an upgrade. I wanted to transfer the 2GB microSD card's contents to the 32GB one. Didn't have a PC/lappy with me at the time.
- I created a folder called "SD" in the internal storage and moved all files from the 2GB microSD to that folder
- inserted the 32GB card, moved the contents of the "SD" folder to the 32GB card
Now here's the problem :
- after all these, some of my games no longer have their icons, and when i tap them i get a message saying "application is not installed".
What could have happened here?
Most probably there are (were) hidden files that didn't get transfered. It is best to use a PC to transfer data. I did it 2-3 times and it works 100%. Also, if you had games installed to SD card - you have to move them to PHONE and then back to new SD. just copying the SD card won't do the trick. Or use Titanium backup to back up apps. Copying SD card works for data/app data, various obb files for games etc, but not for APPS that were moved to SD card.
Hello,
I transferred applications to my SD card and it worked well. I then needed to reformat my SD card. I unmounted and got it from the tablet, I copied its full content on my PC but I forgot the .* files, I put the card back in the tablet, I reformatted it in the tablet, I unmounted it and put it in my PC to restore its content, I put it back in my tablet, and I could read the card content. I however lost all applications that had been transferred to the card. I cannot find them. I transferred again another small application to the card but I cannot find it on the card, even not in .android_secure. Does anybody know where the applications are stored on the card and what happened to me. Thanks in advance for any piece of information.
I know a little bit more what happened. The applications are stored in .android_secure at the root of the card. I forgot to copy the directory, hence I lost all the applications. When I transferred after other applications to my micro-SD card, my file browser did not show them despite refreshing the directory display. I do not know why, but I found the applications in android_secure after.
When you check out an app's info, there is an option to "Move to SD card". When I do this, I see that the available internal storage space really does free up. I tried finding the app data in the external sd, but no new directories are made and the size of the "Android" folder in the external sd remains at 32 bytes. So, where is the app data in the external sd?
I don't mean to resurrect an old thread, but I felt compelled to answer this, since this issue bugged me for hours. I'll just leave it here in case anyone else stumbles on to this.
If you are able to move apps to the SD card in G3, android v.4.4 Kitkat, whether by default, or by applying the SD Fix ("media_rw"...), then doing so will only move certain files to your SD (the .apk, I think), but not inside the /external_SD/Android/data folder. The files will instead be moved to the /.android_secure folder, which is hidden and cannot be viewed using a file browser in Android, even with root (tried ES Explorer). You can view this folder if you insert the SD directly to your PC via a card slot. The files moved will have the .asec extension.
In order to move the actual files from the data or obb folder, and save space, one would have to use an app such as FolderMount, although I haven't tried this myself.
